I have spent a lot of money in this store. Until now. First the cashier stole from me, with the old distraction trick and the accidently giving $10 too little in change. My fault I didnt count first, because I dont expect to be stolen from by a cashier. As soon as I find out, I have called the store. And the person on the phone assures me, they will look into this situation and notify the manager. And they told me to come back the next day.So today I went back to the store. Only to be treated with complete disrespect and outright humiliated by the person claiming to be the stores manager. In front of all the other customers. Being called a dirty homeless person, who needs to get a job, and not try to steal by making false claims. I felt so humiliated in front of all the other customers, only because I reported being stolen from by the store personnel.Its a shame I havent been able to film this tirade from this store manager. If I had, I had made a police report for discrimination and send it on to corporate headquarters. And made this sure this store manager had gone viral.I hope other people with similar experiences in this store will also speak up and share their experience. I will not spend another dime in this store.

Had a wide range of reasonably priced selections

An extensive selection of Carhartt clothing at a time when most other stores have bare shelves. I will be a regular shopper.

Id give it a 4 or 5 if they had their bathrooms open. They say go to parking garage both were down. So I dont go much like I was if much at all.

I have been shopping here for years and have only been to one other Renys in Bridgton. Scott the manager I feel is fair and honest at the Portland store but some of the staff are sometimes a little questionable but isnt that the case at every store. I have worked in retail myself and I think they are doing their best considering the current situation. I find the merchandise to be phenomenal!

This place has so many fun and different things ! You must go down every isle and look at everything! Bought these jammies for my grandsons .

The greeter/bouncer did an excellent job. People on the floor have been consistently poor customer service Representatives lately months on end pre-covid also cashiers in general do a great job there are a few they could use customer service skills improved. Having been on both sides I believe short of expressing properly this is accurate

Great spot in Portland for odds & ends. From socks to space heater, pots&pans, dog treats and decorations. And good prices too.

Google says they open at 9am but I went and the door said 10am... 10am is too late to open especially being downtown Portland they should be open much earlier. I’m already done with half of my day by 10am. They lost a customer today. I usually spend at least $100 everytime I go but I’m not going to shop there anymore. I don’t find the deals like I use to it’s like they don’t even restock their inventory and now they don’t open until 10 next it will be noon and there store will be empty. Very sad example for a Maine business. It is showing Maine is lazy and opens half way through the day with an empty store

When you live in downtown Portland Renys is just the best most convenient place. Whatever you need, you will find. You can live out of Renys if you have to. A true old fashioned sell everything. Nice people too.

Renys is always great. Nice staff, huge inventory, fair pricing and are doing their best to provide safety in these scary times. Id recommend to anyone! They have something no matter what your budget is.

Well, it was all about the clerk named Gootsch. We went in with an immigrant family - 6 people - that needed shoes and he was considerate, kind, efficient and helpful in finding us the best deals so we could afford to get everyone shoes.He was a hero!

I felt like I was trying to go through the Berlin Wall where are your papers????? Just put me in a bad mood. I had the worst day of my life after visiting Renys. A Maine adventure indeed! The store is dog friendly with water bowls by the doors and treats behind the counters. This place is great! It might not have EVERYTHING youre specifically looking for but its got damn near everything! Such great prices for quality goods. No perishable items, but thats fine by me. Great clothing sections for all, awesome you section for kids and the kitchen and home goods are awesome! Pet department is a bit sparse in my opinion but Im a little biased as a pet owner. Whether youre looking for a stock pot, a blender, winter boots or party favors, Renys delivers, every time-and the employees are super friendly and helpful!

I love this Renys! Its a great place to stop at on your way out of town even if you dont need anything particular because you never know what youre going to find. They have a great selection of discounted name brand clothes and anything else you can think of.

I understand not loving your job but my goodness you dont need to be rude to the customers coming in. Definitely not a Mainer welcome.I go into this Renys quite often. Ive worked in an office nearby and so its convenient. However today was far from convenient. Im returning pants and shirt that were too big. I had my credit card receipt from Renys, the one they gave me but not my real receipt as they put it.I then was grilled about how the pants looked used. Yes I tried the pants on and shirt, thats how I found out they were too big.Manager after manager came over to resolve this issue. I was also told the pants I bought at this location were never sold at this location..After looking into the system the one of 3 women working on this issue confirmed they did have these pants and I wasnt lying..shocker!Because I didnt have the real receipt they said they were going to give me a gift card for the amount returned.This is now 20-30 minutes later after many accusations about if I wore the pants and shirt, how the receipt I brought in didnt matter and that the pants were not ever bought from them.I was about to get the gift card when they told me the pants rang up for 9.99... I then again calmly said no thats not possible they were at least 20 dollars. Nope she did not believe me.So after all that, I took the clothes back and did not take the gift card and now have the tag for the pants that show they were $25 and I also already had the tag on the shirt for $25 as well..Did not expect this to be my lunch break today. I saw an ad on TV for Himalayan Salt lamps for $9.99 and happened to be near the Portland store with time to check it out and the luck to find a 15 minute parking spot right out front. The helpful sales person showed me where to find the lamps and there were a few models...Christmas shopping has begun. Thanks Renys

Many of Renys prices are low but there isnt one low quality item in the store. And they have an excellent selection of board games - high quality, innovative and well-chosen! Also, their foodstuffs are unusual (in a good way) and well-priced. They have a little bit of everything.

Renys is a decent place to shop, there are interesting products with good pricing. What a surprisingly pleasant and unique shopping experience, everything you could possibly need and so many unique products and clothing, so much more and a wonderful shopping experience filled with joy and surprises. We found things we didnt think we needed at a bargain price. An original store and I pray it survives the online retailers

I go in several times a week. I enjoy wandering around the store just to see what is new and there is always new stuff. I love the name brand clothes and shoes. Pricey yet still less expensive than anywhere else. I spend a lot at Renys. I know all the people who work there and they know me. I feel like we are friends. A very good atmosphere in this store. Its the place for me.

Great variety shop, reminded me of five and dime store. Staff was -present - as I roamed through the aisles. But did not greet me or offer assistance. Even the cashier was suspicious of me. Made me uncomfortable. They need to be re-trained that many of their customers will be visiting the store but are not thieves.

You could spend an entire day rummaging through the shelves finding great deals at some Reny’s stores, but the Portland location just doesn’t feel like it’s on the same level as the others. It feels much less like a Reny’s and more like a ripoff Walmart. The staff didn’t seem to care and were too busy doing nothing to make sure you were having a good shopping experience. Also, in comparison to the other locations, Portland didn’t seem to have as many local brands, once again making it feel like any other department store instead of “a Maine adventure,” which is disappointing seeming Reny’s is usually one of my favorite places to shop. If you’re just visiting Maine and want to have a feel for what Reny’s is really like, don’t go to the Portland store.

Returned an electronic item that didn’t work. I was going to ask for a refund but saw the same item hanging up behind the register, so I did a switch instead.The employee took the replacement off the hook and replaced it with mine, so good luck to the next person buying that.When I got home I realised that my new one was also a return, because the opening had been torn and there was no plastic insert that the previous one had. So, good luck to me too.

I was told it was a landmark store to visit in Portland. It had a lot of different items with decent prices. I enjoyed looking around and picking up a few things to take home.

I do love Renys but the Portland store is so difficult!! Parking is terrible, and it doesnt seem to matter what day or time. I always find good things and great prices- and where else can you buy all chocolate necco wafers?? Other locations Id give 5 stars, NOT Portland- unless you are walking or on bus line.

I have to say that it is okay. (Which means two stars.)I decided to rate it because today I stopped by on my way to the library downtown. Yeah, they have great deals on some basics that I know I might want to grab sometime: a belt, undergarments, socks, household supplies, etc. But when I was looking at their shirts and pants it was not in any decent order whatsoever. Looked like decent deals, but I couldnt find sizes properly sorted.I did come across a couple items I thought I might try on. The changing room said no backpacks, which I understood. So I asked someone that was working near-by where I could leave mine. Oh, just on the hook next to the door. Wait. What? You dont trust your clients because they may steal YOUR items, but you expect us to assume that others wont steal a bag that may contain computers, books, etc. from us? Alright, no thank you then. Was my response, and I placed the clothing down and walked out. If a store worries that we may steal from them, then they should care for us to prevent other clients from stealing our belongings.I only go here for essentials, which they do often have. But if I ever need to buy anything more than some socks or a box to store my books, Ill go to a decent store. I highly suggest ignoring those that love it just because it is solely based in Maine. Theyre being very irrational.
