Huge range of yarns! They are doing distanced in person shopping and have some (but far less) yarn online.I got their cool color changing yarn for these slippers and their basic $10 yarn for some parts of this pillow.

Small but very nice knitting and embroidery shop. Lots of inventory, beautifully displayed. Very helpful staff. Located on a corner in the Alberta district. The knitter in our family Loved it! Will definitely be on our list for the next time we are in Portland. Definitely 5 🌟.

I love the selection of interesting and high quality yarns here. For my latest project, I had picked the pattern so knew the weight of the yarn I needed, but that was all. Lisa at Close Knit even knew the pattern and suggested two yarns. I looked at color options on the yarn websites and picked ones I liked. I started with my favorite - a beautiful gray wool / alpaca blend - and they had 6 skeins in the same dye lot. I am ready to begin! Great store with lovely service.

Excellent little yarn shop. Currently only two customers are allowed in the shop at a time, so there may be a 15+ minute wait depending on how full the shop is, but otherwise theyre fully functional! The staff there are nice and knowledgeable, and they helped me pick out some good yarn for my sweater.

Im very happy tove found this place! I jusy needed circular needles.. but they also had a yarn ball spinner! Which Id been needing :)Theyre doing well to observe covid restrictions and have made it a plenty pleasant experience. Im excited to visit again more frequently.

Huge selection of yarn, needles, notions, etc. The staff are super friendly and helpful. They pointed me toward some excellent online resources for beginners when I was just starting out and always have wonderful suggestions when I cant decide what yarn or needles to use for a project. They also have project-based classes throughout the year for all levels (virtual during COVID). This is my go-to yarn store!

Took a Beginners Knitting class here and haven’t looked back. The staff is friendly and helpful- shout outs to Adrienne, Emily (who can fix *any* knitting booboo) and Sally. The shop is cozy and intimate and their classes are awesome!

This store is so wonderful. The women working are always friendly and informative. I love how accommodating they are with kids, theres a beautiful sitting section with toys and books to entertain while you shop. Also, its so great that they wind the yarn for you. Close Knit is a small shop but they have great, high quality yarn. I enjoy driving out here every year during the Rose City Yarn Crawl. I always come out with beautiful yarn. The employees are always really friendly too. I always go to Hana Japanese place for lunch during the Crawl.

Walked in today and asked about what could purchase as a new knitter to get me started. I️ have zero experience and the two women working were SO wonderful and helpful. They even taught me how to start and got me going with my first set of needles and yarn. It can be so intimidating to walk into places as a “newbie” but they were patient, sweet, and encouraging. Can’t wait to go back and show them my progress!!! 😊

I was there for yarn crawl - typically a pretty frantic time, but these folks love yarn. They have a great selection of many types I havent seen elsewhere, and they display them with thought taken to color combinations. It was a fun store and Ill be back when I have some projects planned out - just waiting for the yarn.

I had a fantastic experience at Close Knit. I am completely new to knitting and both ladies working were incredibly helpful and encouraging. They both offered different pattern ideas and magazines which would fit my confidence and skill level. And even when the shop got busy, they continued to check up on me and continue our conversation, making me feel comfortable. Thank you so much for getting me started on my first real knitting project. Im looking forward to joining the Wednesday evening knit nights!

Cute little yarn store that manages to pack a huge inventory into such a small place. That said, on days when it is busy, like the yarn crawl, it feels quite squished. The staff is kind and helpful, both about the yarn in their store and the neighborhood. One drawback is that parking can be challenging, but as long as you dont mind walking a block or so, its totally doable.

Small store, they carry Possum yarn which involves killing the animal... Unfortunate to pay for animal cruelty. But there is great cruelty free alpaca yarn and the store is beautiful. The staff wasnt particularly helpful. I also felt a cold better-than-you vibe from the staff as though they were talking down to me... Either because Im young or because Im new to knitting (even though Im experienced in crochet ing). I didnt like how they corrected my questions and pressured me to buy their patterns. Over all, it wasnt horrible... But I probably would go elsewhere next time. Definitely had better experiences at Happy Knits on Hawthorne.

This is one of my favorite yarn/ knitting stores ever. The staff is knowlegable and they carry beautiful yarn and quality knitting products. I love this establishment.

Wonderful little yarn shop in inner alberta. The selection was good and the staff was super helpful. They offer a knit/cocktail event every week that I definitely want to go check out. The prices were reasonable and on par with what I would expect to pay at a local yarn shop. I will definitely be going back.

I had a fun time revisiting here! A fantastic array of yarn to choose from and a super friendly/knowledgeable store owner (Im assuming the woman helping me is the owner). I love the feel of the shop especially with the large windows and natural light that comes in. I picked up some NORO yarn here and know where Im heading back to when I need more. This is place is totally on my yarn shop stop list

My wife loves to come here. For me, they have a great seating area where she will find me when she is done. For her, they have a terrific selection of yarns that will be purchased and become her next project, whether it is a hat or gloves or what have you.

The staff is incredibly helpful. I love how they display the details for the yarn on the shelves so its easy to see the informan that you need.With clean displays and large selection I was quickly able to find what I needed

Having always shopped at Twisted on Broadway, I was used to encountering helpful and upbeat salespeople. Recently I visited Close Knit... I have stopped in a couple times; both instances, I was not greeted when I entered the store and the sales staff (two salespeople where there) were cold and aloof. I was also surprised that the merchandise was pricier than I have seen elsewhere. I felt uncomfortable in this store and will not be patronizing this business again. There are so many wonderful knit shops in Portland--I would suggest bringing your business to another, more worthy local business.

Close Knit is a great yarn store. It is cosy and airy. Great selection of yarns. They special ordered a very large amount of yarn for me. extremely helpful and I was happy to be able to shop local.Staff is friendly and knows their yarn.

I have always liked this store and have spent a small fortune here. Today I went in to buy a gift for a friend who is an avid knitter. The item cost $46 and I asked the sales clerk if my friend could return the item if she didnt like it in exchange for something else. The clerk looked at me like I was nuts and stated they dont do gift receipts. I wasnt asking for a gift receipt, I was asking if she could exchange it. I felt like I was asking for something unreasonable! Customer service lacking, wont be back :-(
