The Lovely Lemon! If anyone ever asks where to buy a cake in Portland I tell them- The Cakery! Don’t waste your time on any other cake! And just to make it very clear I’m a professional baker!

Against my objections my friends asked me to order a chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Usually this would be a chocolate overload and I really was hoping that a professional cake shop would be able to balance the flavors properly. Luckily that hope was proved true, while extremely rich it was not overly chocolatey or sweet. It was a great balance of flavors, and I was the king of the party. I hope to order again, but maybe I can choose the flavors.

We bought a whole bunch of Cakery cakes for our wedding years ago, and we still speak of it fondly. Doing so saved us a ton of money, our cakes got endless compliments for style and actually tasting good, and we could keep going back to have more on anniversaries or for a special treat. Highly recommended.

I dont know whats happened to their coconut cake but it used to be the best .... but now with the larger (and harder) coconut flakes against the light flaky cake and dense filling, it is simply not tasty and too sweet. So disappointed. Not my favorite anymore.

Lovely cakes if you’re looking for basic flavors and a classic, thicker frosting.

The Cakery and Baker and Spice are owned by the same company and both are exceptional! We ordered our wedding cakes from The Cakery and have gotten all of our birthday, Mother’s Day, etc. cakes from here since. All are truly delicious! I should note that while we ordered cakes for our wedding here, they weren’t technically “wedding cakes” - ie they were about 1/5 the price of bakeries that offer wedding cakes and 10x more delicious. For tastings, we ordered several individual slices which they kindly accommodated with a few days of notice. I think they have slices available all days, but if there is a specific cake you want to try it’s best to call ahead to make sure it’s available on the day you’d like your slice. The inside of the store is also very nice. There are some adorable cake candles and cards, as well as baking accessories.I feel very fortunate to have this establishment in Hillsdale. It is one I would gladly trek across town to visit!

Quick and friendly service and some of the best desserts in the area. Their espresso buttercream cake has been a birthday favorite for a few years now.

Me and my wife compare good things in terms of how many Cakery cupcakes it was. Going as far as calculating pay raises in cupcakes per month. I give the Cakery 5 out of 5 cupcakes for service and product that Ive experienced over the years. I would suggest you get 5 cupcakes if you havent been here yet, and make a few friends.

* Meant for “BAKER & SPICE” which is where Google Maps took me...THIS PLACE IS INCREDIBLE!!! Savory treats that will make you feel truly grateful to be alive! Dramatic, yes. However, if you appreciate truly wonderful food, do yourself a favor and go. Breakfast croissant sandwiches that are perfection, savory pastries that are truly incredible, even the side salad with a champagne vinaigrette has a complex blend of fresh greens complete with fresh made croutons and seasonal pickle that was so velvety, I thought it was zucchini at first! Seriously, treat yourself.

Wow. Incredible pastries - both sweet and savory. You can really taste the fresh, homemade quality and high quality ingredients. The savory bread pudding was so flavorful and unique. Crumb cake was a solid, good rendition of a personal favorite. About a 7 minute wait on an early Saturday morning - just enough time to decide on what to choose since everything looked amazing! Just wish I was in town long enough to try more!

I love cupcakes and cakes! I have a really hard time finding good ones though. I have tried so many different stores, dessert shops and restaurants trying to find the perfect tasting cake or cupcakes but I have finally found them at The Cakery. My absolute favorite is the coconut cake! The frosting is so good and the cake actually has a filling in between the layers and not just frosting like so many cakes have. I also really love their cupcakes the frosting is a perfect balance of sweet and creamy and I really love this place.

Their strawberry and rose macaroon is a must try! It will life your spirit! Too bad I can’t find their pastry shop, it supposed to be right next to it, but I guess I just don’t have enough time to find it. Strongly recommend anyone enjoying fine baking goods to give this place a try.

For some reason people have put this as Baker and Spice the coffee with Savory, breads, and other pastries but its not its a CAKE SHOP with CUPCAKES lol too funny but they are still connected. Just clearly apart The cupcakes arent so good. I dont know what they used for frosting but I cant seem to give them away when I buy them

So disappointing... I called to inquire about gluten free (GF) items. The clerk said they had macaroons and several type of cake, including flourless chocolate cake. I immediately drove there to pick up a cake for a dinner that evening. When I arrived, I was informed the GF cakes were at their main bakery, rather than at that location. The only GF product they had were macaroons. I didnt have time to go there, so reluctantly purchased 2 raspberry, and 2 chocolate macaroons. They cost $2.50 per macaroon. When we ate them after dinner, we immediately noticed the raspberry macaroon was much harder and dried than the chocolate. (Im guessing it wasnt as fresh). I think the person on the phone should have stated that their GF cakes were not available at that location. And, shame on them for selling day old macaroons as fresh, assuming that is why the raspberry macaroons were so much firmer than the chocolate ones.I do not plan to revisit this shop.
