Just moved two blocks away from this spot. Typically I try to support local businesses over going to a big corporate spots like 7-11. I’m personally willing to pay a bit more to support locals. The problem is that two out of the four times I’ve come in the past three weeks, I’ve gone up to the register and the prices they are advertising have not been the price I was charged. Both times(for separate products with separate workers) I asked if they would honor the price they had posted and both times they refused. While I *want* to support local business, its apparent not all local businesses deserve to be supported. I get that its tough to compete with plaid pantry pricewise(plaid pantries non sale price is usually cheaper than penny markets sale price) but having fake sales that you don’t honor is just bad business. I personally, will be walking the extra two blocks to plaid pantry from now on. Not only is a six pack 2-4 dollars cheaper but they treat their customers allot better.

A true bodega, in that they have a selection of actual groceries in addition to the usual junk food and beer!

I went here for years when I lived in the neighborhood and always found it to be fully-stocked with a great selection of just about everything you could want. Cheers to the Penny Market!

Penny Market is a great neighborhood mart with an incredibly diverse assortment of goods on offer. If you ever find yourself in need of a toilet plunger, fuses for your houses outdated electrical system, a fairly precise digital scale, or an enormous jar of mayonnaise then the Penny Market is the obvious choice.Solid beer selection 4/5Decent candy selection 3/5Amazing overall selection 5/5

I was stranded here by a Lyft driver during the snow storm. Susan was so welcoming, allowing me to loiter while I waited for another ride to arrive and the owner suited up with his cleats and jacket to push numerous cars up the hill. They have a beautiful connection with the community.

I drove by it for years when I lived on on SE 28th, and only became a customer when I moved to SE 20th and Pine. Do not be put off by the somewhat tacky exterior, this is an A+ neighborhood convenience store with a wide selection of often times upper-scale products.A+ on a wide selection of beer products, with Imports and more than ample microbrews of all sizes shapes and flavors. They also have an excellent ice cream selection, with premium Brands and a great flavor selection, including several that are my favorites that many convenience stores simply do not carry. A wide selection of snack products, and in different sizes depending on what you are shopping for.I have always found the clerks to be friendly and helpful, whether apparently employees or apparently the Korean ownership family. Do not ever hesitate to use the ample side or rear parking lots to stop and run into the Penny Market for whatever it is you might need on the way home or if you live in the neighborhood!

To Whom It May Concern:I am a veteran and very disappointed in your selling of Agent Orange hot sauce by Hard Times Sauce Company. I do like hot sauce but Agent Orange is not an appropriate name. Too many veterans have died and are suffering from the affects that agent orange has caused them.Using the name Agent Orange to promote and sell products shows a lack of sensitivity to the plight of many veterans and their families. Your action by putting this product on your shelves shows a total disregard for the pain and medical suffering that is still being inflicted on men and women that served our country.Michael WilsonUSMC Veteran
