Clean little shop and personable service, although visiting any of my favorite retail stores are uncomfortable and awkward during this pandemic. The dude working seemed more than happy to answer all my questions about a piece of equipment I was thinking of buying but I had never owned before. Although he didnt have one in stock he did suggest a couple places that would have it, what to look for and what to watch out for. Definitely worth the time to visit and Im looking forward to going back. Thanks, Thunder Road,,, R.T.

Great store! I had never went to this store before, but decided to go there because I had seen on their website that they had some unique vintage guitars and it did not disappoint! I spent a good amount of time here and ended up buying a 1950 Gibson J-45. The owner was very nice and was a pleasure to work with. He was able to answer all of the questions that I had. If you’re looking for a professional and unique guitar or amp, I highly recommend checking out this place.

I have purchased a couple of guitars from Thunder Road Guitars PDX. Will, the owner is very knowledgeable, and a great guy to work with. He has a nice selection of acoustic and electric guitars to choose from. The customer service at this store is excellent. If you are in the market for a guitar or amp, go check out Thunder Road PDX and support a local business.

A clean, comfortable shop with a top-notch selection of vintage guitars and basses. The staff was friendly and helpful even though we were just browsing. Also got to meet Doug, the sweet shop dog! Would highly recommend this shop if you’re looking for something unique to add to your collection. They also do trades!

First visit, definitely a niche market as far as what they carry for instruments. But super friendly, and they carry all the accessories needed for your average guitar player. Definitely recommend Thunder Road tho. Just double check theyre hours, cuz if its a Monday and youre in a crunch, ur burnt. Cuz everyone deserves a day off. Thanks again guys!

They had a small but superb selection of guitars when I was in, acoustic and electric. The clerk was helpful in reminding me what a new player might need, and he informed me of an incoming instrument that matched what Im looking for in my next guitar. Will certainly be back through next time Im in the area.

I have purchased two guitars at Thunder Roads Portland location. The owner is extremely kind and is knowledgeable about instruments and the current market. The employees are wonderful and helpful. I have always felt welcomed as both a browser and a buyer, and am excited for my next opportunity to purchase an instrument there. The inventory is great, and their photos/descriptions online are top notch. Thanks for being a great store and resource!

Awesome shop and staff. Drove 350 miles to do a trade on an acoustic and well worth it. Very friendly, knowledgeable, no pressure staff and a great selection of guitars. Looking at an electric next and will most like head right back to Thunder Road. As previously mentioned, a very cool shop dog as well!

Ive come to Thunder Road here to have a few guitars set up. The owner is great and their prices are very reasonable. They also have a really fast turn around time. (think days and not weeks). Matthew aka knuckles their guitar tech set up both my guitars perfectly so I highly recommend them. Support your local guitar shops!

I must say that I can count on both hands the number of reviews I have given over the past couple of decades. Mostly, its negative. I love it when I work with people and a company that provides legendary service. Will was incredible to work with. He followed through with everything we discussed when I dropped off my guitar for consignment. I just received my check from TRG PDX and put a smile on my face. Thank you Will and your Portland team.

This shop has a killer selection of top quality guitars, this shop has some serious eye candy both acoustic and electric. No junkers. The guitar technician Knuckles does great work setting up an electric guitar. I’ve brought in 3 of mine for a service set up And strings and I must say these things shred! Didn’t take very long either, which is always nice. The tech was very clear about all the work done, even wrote some notes on the back of my receipt once. To quote Maub Lebowski “ he’s a good man...and thorough”exactly what you want from a guitar store, high quality eye candy, nice people who know what their doing, and a springer spaniel.

Had the guys restring my Martin and it was a great experience. Quick turnaround, solid setup. A few bucks more expensive than other shops around, but they’re down the street from me and it’s just an overall very chill shop.Excellent selection of vintage and rare Fenders, Gibsons, Martins, and other known brands- no knock off budget models.Highly recommended for your guitar needs.

I was able to visit Thunder Road for the first time this week! It’s a great shop with vintage guitars, amps, and basses. The staff is super friendly and very knowledgeable about the gear they sell! Very reasonably priced as well! If you’re looking for older guitars, basses, or amps this is your place! I enjoyed talking with them and will return soon. Highly recommended! Cool dog too! :)

Great selection of all sorts of gear, but seriously, find a new cashier. Every time Ive visited this store the dude at the front counter acts as though Im insulting him just by walking in and has a poor attitude about helping me. Like, God forbid you be helpful, guy. Id love to spend more time in the store but every time Im in there I feel pressed for time because of the vibe this dude gives off. Ive been in about 4 times and this has happened pretty much every time. If I were the owner Id make it a point to tell this dude to adjust his attitude a little bit. Its not welcoming or friendly or even remotely helpful. Not trying to be a jerk, but really.Aside from this, the store has a great feeling and is set in a nice part of town.

This my new absolute fav guitar shop in Portland. It’s like a museum of pure vintage radness- EVERYWHERE you look in there. I found my dream Les Paul on a whim stopping by last week. Will took excellent care of me, catering to all of my questions, needs, and “demands” while testing it out and even offered to switch out the pick ups for me. Super satisfied with the transaction. 5 star experience 💯 Excellent customer service, fair prices, and an outstanding selection of gear.
