I love Stumptown Coffee!! When I lived in NYC Stumptown was a go-to spot for me. So when I came into Portland for business, I knew I had to go.The staff was friendly. The vibe in the space was eclectic. My Americano was smooth and flavorful. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, which was delicious!! The garlic pesto was a tasty touch. If you are in the area, stop in!

Only takeout is still available.Check the number of people in the store at the entrance and let them in.The artworks hanging in the store were all nice and nice. Not only coffee beans but also bread, hats, bags, cups, etc. were on sale. The coffee I drank on this day was even better because it tasted sour.

Some may be surprised to find out that Peets coffee quietly bought out/acquired Stumptown in 2015; however, it seems that their deal meant Stumptown coffee would not be sold in Peets cafes or vice versa. Acquisition notwithstanding, Stumptown is a worthwhile third-wave poster-child--that means availability of single origin beans, latte art, and manual brewing (e.g. pour overs).Although Stumptown was founded in 1999, I didnt get to try it until a few years later when I visited Portland in an almost-move scenario. Since then, Ive had a chance to sample their coffee a few times when visiting and I recently acquired their Passport Trio direct trade box. I really found the sampler pack a treat. Each variety, Ethiopia, Costa Rica, and Indonesia, was tasty and Id actually say the box is a good value overall (about 38 bucks). In addition, it would make a great gift (hint hint!). If youre in the area, put this on your short-list!

Not your average 8am brew. After being served a cup of foamed attitude with an extra shot of superiority, we sat to enjoy our beverages but, we were not prepared for what came next. Transitioning from a nearly inaudible acoustic mix, the volume 20x increased with an onslaught of soul piercing underground synth. There was just one thought that I could fit into the music-instilled brainwave rage: do nightmares ever end? By the time I nearly answered the thought, I became assaulted by the grim reaper of sound waves. Being new to such a feeling, naturally I Shazam’ed it and was unsurprised by the title “Hell was Full” followed by “Burn the Witch”, both by Patriarchy. All in all, we survived but likely won’t be returning for fear of being swallowed by the depths of hell. Others may appreciate the vibes if heroine just doesn’t cut it for you.

Love this coffee shop and their roast. I love to buy their coffee beans and you can find it at a lot of different places in the country. The shop in itself is quaint and really artsy. It has an amazing vibe and Ill highly recommend. The baristas are amazing and their latte is the best. They have amazing bakery items available as well. It is a short walk from the voodoo donuts. Definitely give this a try if you are in Portland.

My sister loves this coffee shop. I find it very limited in options, poor service, and a bit pretentious. If you don’t mind waiting, three baristas ignoring you, and having a standard latte, then this is the place for you. If your sister forces you to go, then grab some voodoo donuts in the way; it makes it tolerable! ;)

I couldnt find much difference in coffee but the interior. It seems that they had a recent renovation so please ignore the old photos. The new look is very simple, spacious and white which gives a feeling like Im in a gallery as you can see in the pic. It is not common to see a cafe leaving empty spaces but it was their differentiator from normal franchised cafes! The staff was freindly and you have a small selection for pastry as well.

A legendary US coffee roaster that I als ways wanted to visit! At first I was a little bit disappointed because they had no single origin espresso on the grinder, but their house blend was amazing and perfectly extracted: sooooooo sweet and smooth. The Kenyan filter coffee was also super delicious 😋 with a long lingering finish. Not to forget my morning egg 🍳 sandwich 🥪 😍.I also liked the atmosphere - nice and cosy interior with beautiful lounge sofas: sooooo comfortable 😎.

Vanilla lattes are my go to, and I have to say I was not impressed. It tasted more caramel than vanilla. My husband got one as well and felt the same way so it was not a one off. The ambience was trendy and the building is spacious, but mostly left open and airy. Not a ton of seating. Baristas were friendly. Just overall didnt live up to the hype. This rating is based mostly off the drink since thats what youre paying for, and honestly it seemed a bit pricey. We got 1 large and 1 medium latte and it was 10.25.

The beans look under roasted almost still green. I had a latte at this location and it was semi warm. It had a sour note that stays at the back of the tongue. The same taste with the beans. I made a cup in a French press. I normally drink full flavor to intense flavor plain black coffee. The cheap brand on the left is far superior then what I had at Stumptown. I think a good coffee can taste great plain or with flavors. This bag of Stumptown is just average. I may mix the beans with another coffee or re-roast these.

I visited these guys during a cross-country trip, so Im unsure if my experience was a one-off. The staff was polite but the latte I had just tasted like steamed milk and we were harassed by a few homeless guys who made camp right outside of their doors. Those two things aside, its a nice building and cool environment. If youre a coffee person, its worth going to. Hopefully I was just there on an off day.

I accidentally stumbled upon Stumptown Coffee. I originally went there to use the restroom. Once I came out, I decided to grab a coffee since there was only a few people in line. I will say, when I went the line was short but walked past it the next day and the line was out the door.

Judging by the amount of space that is available for a coffee shop in Portland, Im impressed. The height of the building really allows for you to feel more open to the conversations that youre having with your friends. The music aligns with the atmosphere and the Barista was very chill. Im also a huge fan of the artwork and the pieces that were on the walls. Its no wonder that this coffee shop is a pearl in Portland.

There is a hype going on about Stumptown and I just dont get it.My overall experience here was not as good as in other establishments for the following reasons:TASTE: A 20 oz. iced mocha on soy milk has a very peculiar flavor and thats my usual request, or a regular mocha. In this case, the taste was just sugar. There was so much syrup in it that I had a hard time drinking the whole thing.SERVICE: After experiencing the superb customer service from Starbucks, Dutch Brothers and Black Rock Coffee... Why settle for a lack of smile and cold service from Stumptown? If you want to work here, there are a few tables and the price is just as any other fancy coffee place.Maybe Im too pampered by other chains or maybe Stumptown believes that good coffee grains are all thats needed to succeed?
