Lovely local chocolatier with a beautiful collection of chocolate. I got the ten-bar box and cant wait to try them! The lady running the business received me warmly and shared some helpful insights about their chocolate (shop). This is sort of a shop/factory/cafe space although the cafe is closed at the moment and youll rarely see production going on through the glass windows. I can only imagine how fun it would be to come have a drink or bite when it reopens.

Cute shop that would probably be a better experience during non-Covid times. Due to covid, they were only selling their to-go items. I opted to try their small bars- one of each kind. I have unfortunately found the majority of these to not be overly enjoyable. Theyre not bad, just not good either. And also not significantly differentiated from one another despite there being 4 single origin bars. I was also disappointed and surprised to find the bars were cheaper at the airport (though selection was much smaller-only 4 bars versus 10 at the shop).

The staff is pretty informative - theyll inform the entire process of how the chocolate is made to you if you ask them. The list of products is very small, however, the chocolate is very good quality. I ordered a cold hot chocolate to go, and it didnt disappoint.

A great place to see how the famous Woodblock Chocolates are made and to sample all the chocolate flavors. They also have a little space in the corner for people to sit down and chat. A great place to shop for special occasions or to bring a friend who is visiting Portland for the first time.

The variety of chocolate plus the availability of samples made me want to purchase their entire selection! Also, the hot cocoa is decadent, perfect for any occasion—celebration, treat yo self, or TGIF. Absolutely worth the visit! (Tip for first timers: When entering the shop, use the door all the way to the left.)

What an adorable chocolate maker store!Lets be clear, theres a difference between a chocolatier and a chocolate maker. Woodblock is the latter, which means they source the beans and make the chocolate. A chocolatier is someone who already works with chocolate and turns it into other chocolate goods (like truffles, bonbons, etc). This store is right on the corner of Oak St and SE 13th Ave, you cant miss it! As soon as you walk inside you are welcomed by a friendly worker and the wonderful smell of chocolate. Most of the store space is set up for the chocolate making, but they have a lovely little corner set up with all the goods they sell. Theres a long wooden table with all their different chocolate bars and samples to taste said chocolates. All of their chocolate is lovely! It really depends on what kinda you like. They have several dark chocolates that are single origin, and a few blends. They have a dark milk chocolate and some flavored chocolate bars. I got a taste them all and they are all amazing! The texture is perfectly smooth and creamy (as good chocolate should be) and you can really taste the different flavors coming from the chocolate grown in different countries. Some are bright and fruity, some more earth and soft...so wonderfully fun to give them all a taste and decide your favorite! They have a bag called Salty Seconds which is crushed up bars that either broke or ended up being underweight. They sell 8 oz for $10, which mean youre getting about 4 bars worth for a lot cheaper!Thankfully they sell their chocolate online too, so if you dont live in Portland you can still get this yummy chocolate!

Yum!! The smell of roasting cocoa beans is enough to drive you mad before you even get inside. You go in and they have bowls of silky chocolate disks just waiting for you to sample, with a description and the country of origin for each chocolate. The menu is short and sweet. Just enough drinks that you have to come back but few enough that you feel like you can try them all. You watch them roast and grind and prepare the chocolate through viewing windows in the shop, which is sort of magical and hypnotizing. The only way I could get myself to leave was knowing that Id be back...soon...

I love that they have samples for all of their chocolate. Its definitely a unique experience. My favorite was the hazelnuts covered with their double blend, and peruvian cacao! Not to mention that, all of their chocolate all come from different countries. For the quality of the chocolate, its definitely worth the price!

Nice, quaint place for a coffee or other delicious beverage with a sweet treat. The Woodlands Soda is one I highly recommend. My husband loved the olive oil truffles, but I preferred the Madagascar chocolate bar and the chocolate pudding was phenomenal! Great customer service, and since it was our first time, she was kind enough to let us try a few of the chocolates that werent out for sampling (which really helped us to determine which bars we would like to purchase). Excellent, must try! Especially the Woodlands Soda and chocolate pudding, unique and delicious!

Artisan bean-to-bar chocolate made in-house! I love watching the chocolate in production and bought 3 bars of chocolate! The Mocha hit the spot with 70% Dark Chocolate from Tanzania, so tasty that I bought a bar! After sampling the smooth and decadent Madagascar 70% chocolate, I bought a bar of it along with another bar which was a combination from Ecuador and Peru.Although its hard to decipher the subtle difference in taste between the different origins, the beans have a slightly different flavor.

We accidentally came to this location without knowing it hasn’t opened yet. The store is still in the process of being made, but we were greeted by the friendly owner who happily showed us where they made chocolate and it was so fun! We even tasted many different kinds of them. At last we bought some chocolate bars to take home. It was a great experience, and people are so warm and welcoming. I love this chocolate and company! I will definitely come back!

Tasted this chocolate a few years back at Salt & Straw, and discovered the new Woodblock Cafe and manufactury. Stopped by on the way through town, very low key and pleasant venue to taste the wonderful single origin bars. My husband was so happy to see dark milk chocolate options, as hes not a fan of dark, which I adore. Came away with a personal supply of my favorites. Staff person was gentle and welcoming, well worth a visit.

We stopped by this place on a whim after noticing their chocolate listed on wine menu in the Willamette Valley. We were well rewarded. One of the owners, Charlie, was super nice and showed us and our two daughters how they manufacture their delicious chocolate. The end product is unlike you’ve ever tasted! This chocolate is a home run!

Great little chocolate factory with a small store up front. Very friendly staff that will take the time to talk you through their offerings and the subtle differences between their various chocolate bars. Not the cheapest place, but the chocolate is really rich and full of flavor, so worth a visit for the samples alone. Just a heads up that they plan to relocate later during summer 2016, so location might change soon.

Best vegan chocolates! All the creaminess comes from the bean itself, no added cocoa or coconut butter. Chocolates come as single origin bars or wafers. Want to drink it? Buy the shavings and add to the hot milk of your choice. They dont have seating or serve drinks, strictly select your chocolate and go. Unless you want to be schooled by staff, who will enthusiastically teach you bean basics!

A bean there! and going back again! chocolate cafe. The staff and the management are friendly and relaxed and promote their chocolate with love, attention and engaging answers to pretty much any chocolate question you ask. Each visit has revealed a new chocolate taste in the countertop taster display they have available. Quality bites of chocolates (cacao magic) from all parts of the world. Sourced, roasted, cracked, winnowed, conched and aged here in Portland (source Woodblock Chocolate). And a thoughtful selection of gifts relative to the points of chocolate-enjoyment.Their cafe seating area is open and spacious. It combines an un-rushed, quiet spot to sit, with an uncluttered, pop-in bar style that allows you to inhale as you wait for your chocolate to go alongside the viewing windows of the chocolate confectioners making-process on display daily.Their menu is made in-house as much as possible, savoury and sweet selection, brasserie style counter display, portions are side-plate sized. It is a cacao bean bar that focuses on making chocolate, and offers a window of opportunity to watch how that chocolate is made. (And yes it smells like chocolate!)Location - tucked away on NE 17th Ave. between NE Broadway and NE Schuyler. (Open until 6 pm daily)

They were closed but Charley was still in there and unlocked the door not just for me but another few folks whod happened by. He was a real ombudsman/sommelier of chocolate, and shared samples of things N/A online. Really enjoyed the bars and other specialty chocolates I wound up buying. It was months since my visit but would go back in a heartbeat. There are a lot of fine chocolatiers in this town, and many confuse artisanal with snobby, but only a few make visiting them a great experience like this.
