Love the unique selection, and the nothing-but-fantastic deli - but man, if money is not a problem it still is a hard pill to swallow how much you are going to pay for some of these items. Regardless, check out their excellent bakery items - I personally always get a good bit of focaccia, some fresh pasta - and a little fun candy to snack on later.

Well, Providore Fine Foods is a small market full of things that you really dont need, but you really, really want. That smoked salt you needed for that recipe you are planning on making once and then putting in cupboard for several years? Theyve got it! And will charge you all the market will bear. They also have wine in abundance, a small but complete selection of beers, a pretty swell meat and cheese counter, and a large assortment of anchovies! Thats right! You have choices!

My family and friends love Providore. We go here for speciality goods and veggies.Revel Meat is by far one of the best meet providers we’ve found. Expect HIGH quality and ethically processed meat. This is one of the few non factor farms you can find in PDX. I HIGHLY recommend their smoked pork chops. HOLY MOLY they are good.We also love Pasta Works. They offer truly exceptional fresh made pasta.Otherwise you will pay high prices for imported goods but that is OK! Your getting the best of the best here.Veggies are beautiful curated and very affordable.Lastly everyone that works here is just wonderful. Attentive well mannered and in good spirits. I find some chain grocery stores to be really bad vibes and Providore is just h the complete opposite. It’s a joy to shop here

Great shop with varied international (mostly European, and a few Asian) food pantry supplies. They also offer organic fresh veggies and fruits, a small bakery with fresh pastries and foccacia, cheese/meat counter, and seafood counter, and even fresh flowers... If I lived closer, this store would be dangerous as it can be a bit pricey for these high quality products.

Called inquiring about a particular brand of Italian-made gluten-free pasta. The clerk took the time to go to the gluten-free isle, and described the two products they offered. That was great! When I asked specifically about the brand I was looking for, explaining I’d bought it on line and was wanting to find it locally, I was rudely (snappily) cut off mid-sentence and told that these are what they had, and I could find them there. Period. I was quite surprised by the curt and rude response to what was intended to be a way I might purchase through them, or find an equivalent. I was not afforded that opportunity. I quickly ended the call, saying that “it looks like you don’t want me as a customer, goodbye,” and hung up. Perhaps she was having a bad day. Who isn’t. But I’m disappointed by the treatment, and was hoping to visit this beautiful store and buy a variety of different items. I’ll look elsewhere for kind customer service. Hope her day improves.

The wine lady was super helpful, knew so much. The (who I believed to be manager) older lady was greeting people outside at the door and occasionally coming into the store to check on shoppers, she was extremely rude. Rushed us. Laughed with her co workers when I asked her to repeat what she’d said. I do have a southern accent as I’m not from here but their attitude quickly changed when they saw the amount of money I was spending. Very dissatisfied and disappointed as the selection of items in this store was amazing and over all just a super cute place.

I do shopping for a chef that feeds our office. She regularly tries new dishes and sometimes they require hard to find items. Providore Fine Foods have been a life-saver in this regard. They carry a wide selection of produce and other foods you generally cant find in a typical grocery store, for example sherry vinegar and more obscure spices. It is upscale, but the prices didnt seem ridiculous. Great place to shop for your cooks in the family. Overall I am impressed with the quality and the service. The employees have all been kind and helpful. Plus the have an interesting selection of candies and snacks. Definitely going back!

Since March, I typically wear a particular neck scarf as a face covering. Ive worn it at all stores Ive attended, including Providore. I have a heart condition that makes it difficult to breathe through most masks Ive tried. After being there for over half an hour and ordering about $200 worth of cheese/meats/pickles, my daughter and I were told to wait outside in the rain while they finished packaging my order after I refused to change my face covering to a medical mask. My daughter even tried telling him I cant breathe with those masks, and he shrugged and said, Yeah, its hard. I waited outside patiently and he told me to come back in when I was gesturing to give him my card to run inside. I thought I wasnt allowed in the store? It was super confusing. He started yelling at me from inside the store about how hes just trying to help me get this done. The man made a spectacle out of me in front of the staff and other customers (two days before Thanksgiving, so it was busy). I got in my car and cried. Embarrassing, but thats how hurt and bewildered I was.I dont typically review places, but I was so disappointed by how I was treated this evening that I am hoping my review will discourage this worker from treating others this way. 2 stars instead of 1 because I love the products and most of the people are usually so nice to us. Genuinely saddened by tonight and likely will never return. Ill stick to Zupans, thanks. Theyre a bit more gracious.

Not only is this company known for abusing women but we can add homophobia to the list. My partner arrived outside and waited in line to get in. Providor (rightfully) only allows a certain number of people into the store at a time as a covid precaution. That means theres usually a line outside and that groups larger than two arent allowed in together.Today though, my partner and I were in line, and when it came time for us to go in the employee outside stated only one of us could go in at a time. Okay sure, there werent any other couples in line ahead of us so we figured maybe because of the snow theyre splitting up all couples to get the line moving faster. Nope. While I was shopping I saw the employee manning the door allow two straight couples inside and break up another (presumably) lesbian couple at the door.I urge anyone considering shopping there to check out @86dlistpdx on Instagram for accounts of the workplace abuses women endure in addition to the homophobic policies they institute at the door.
