The guy that helped my husband and I get fitted for our snowboarding boots was great, very friendly, and helpful, he made our experience here wonderful and we will definitely continue future snowboarding purchases here upstairs. The guy downstairs in the bargain basement was not so helpful, the item I wanted to purchase was missing a tag.. he asked me what a fair price was and I told him the jackets similar and he priced it well over what the others were listed and had a poor attitude about it.

I went shopping for Ski boots today. Next Adventure wasn’t my first stop but it will be from now on.Ben In the ski department helped me find the right boots for what I was trying to do. He gave me lots of his knowledge on the sport which was very useful in to helping me make the right decision. After I made my choice and was checking out Ben thought to check for compatibility with other bindings I may be considering in the near future. He nearly chased me out the door to ensure I knew the answer before I left and had to return the boots later.I liked my experience so much I called to tell the manager about it. He was with another customer and unavailable. But, the person who answered the phone went to great lengths to ensure I was able to get my review to the proper people. Clearly this store cares about customer service and as such I will continue to bring my business here. As I said this was not my first stop for the day, the other store put me on a digital waitlist while I stood next to their boots and watched associates bs and not help customers. Huge difference between places. Keep it up Next Adventure.

The best outdoor apparel (and some gear) store in Portland. The extensive basement has the best deals in used gear and I love it for used children’s outdoor apparel in particular. We ordered two Hobie Mirage Compasses from Next Adventure back in March. We paid upfront, close to $5,000 for both. The kayaks took 5 months to arrive. Now that the kayaks have finally arrived, one of them has a broken rudder. Next Adventure must have known this because the rudder drum was detached and taped to the hull. No mention of the problem when we arrived to pick them up. We discovered it after we brought it home. The kayak is unusable as is. They should have told us.

This is one of the best places to buy outdoor equipment. I went in to get a new sleeping mat after researching why they had online. They had what I wanted and they have a special set up for trying out the mat before you buy it. You place the display model on a special bed of rocks then lay on to help you decide if it works for you or not. Seriously large rocks too, like bigger than your fist! Its genius. They arent trying to sell you junk, they legit want you to be happy with your purchase. Also they have a lifetime common sense warranty on their line of products. So if something gets a hole or whatever they will try to fix it or replace it if its from normal use. Very knowledgeable staff and they have TONS of stuff for any outdoor adventure you could go on.

OMG. I love Next Adventure. I just bought absolutely everything I need to go serious backpack camping for 2 people. I chose their house brand for most of my stuff. Everything I got was super high quality and super lightweight, and I honestly feel like I beat the prices on Amazon, possibly more so because they gave us military discount. Besides saving money by shopping local, I got the best in person customer service ever, which is priceless. The gals there pretty much held my hand through shopping for my new tent, mattress, sleeping bags, and a half a dozen more backpacking essentials. They earned life customers with me and my family.

I should go hear more often. They have everything, most of all a massive basement full of used snow/ski gear for kids and adults, plus a lot of rental options. I have been a next adventure customer since 2004 I want to say? This place makes buying local an obvious choice. They have a huge inventory, a ton of talented outdoorsfolks with strong product knowledge, and a super competitive house brand. Prices are always competitive and the in house brand adventure research is usually a strong option. Its fun to browse all three levels of the store (which includes used selection and rental gear as well) and employees can usually teach you something useful or show off the latest and greatest tech from this year. Their other pdx location is conveniently located directly en route to hood. I would advise paying a little extra for demos or premium rentals if you are a blue or better skiier however. Prices will beat Hood meadows everytime.Big shout out to Dale, Duncan, and Carmella in snow sports for expert advice, vendor support, and all the tips + demos assistance over this last ski season!

I had the pleasure of being assisted by Brigitta at the Next Adventure Grand Ave location in Portland on Tuesday, July 13. Brigitta was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful to me as I asked numerous questions about skis, bindings, boots, jackets and other ski accessories. She was patient, engaging, and never once made me feel self-conscious about my own lack of knowledge & experience with skiing. Her enthusiasm for both skiing & the products we looked at in the store was very evident & contagious. I not only learned a lot, but being helped by someone as friendly & knowledgeable as Brigitta definitely has convinced me to return to this Next Adventure location when I have shopping for outdoor activities in the future. Amazing customer service and extensive selection of products! I am located in Texas and could not find a particular Kayak accessory and after searching the web for days, I was able to find it available through Next Adventures website. The price was competitive and after purchasing it, the product arrived quickly. After a couple of uses, due to a mistake that I made in transporting the product, I lost a critical component. I did not know where to go because I could not find any spare parts online so I contacted Next Adventure customer service. Cool store. Reminded me of Andersons Sporting Goods that used to be in Salem. It has that nostalgic sporting goods store feel with the main floor, huge wooden stairs going upstairs to another level and then of course the bargain basement with lots of used stuff. Great customer service. Ask for Carl. I was looking for an inexpensive pair of ski boots to go with my free skis I got from a friend. He understood my situation and looked through the used boots to see if anything would fit. Nope. So then he went with some returns that he thought would fit and we found a pair. He also gave me some pointers on adjusting my bindings. Just encourage him to start putting money away for retirement.

Edit: I got annoyed and wrote a bad review (see below), but Andrew at Next Adventure reached out to address it and deserves a lot of credit. To be fair Ive shopped at Next Adventure a bunch of times in the past and its been positive, and I never took the time to write a review. This one time I had a hassle at checkout, but he made the effort to get me back in and make it right. In the end it was 5 star customer service, so thats what theyll get from me here. Thanks Andrew!Original hot take for reference:Went in to buy a backup of a disc for disc golf, of which I had purchased one about 10 days earlier (Discraft Scorch). Picked up a color I liked, but at checkout the price was $3 more than it was prior ($19.99 vs $16.99). Every other one on the shelf was priced at $16.99, but clerk could not sell me the one I wanted at that price despite it clearly being mis-stickered. Clerk tried to claim that the inventory sticker and price were correct because it showed different weight numbers... but those didnt match the manufacturers weight sticker either, which was 173-174 just like the rest of them. Terrible service, maybe empower your employees to use some common sense!

If you require a tricky ski boot punch definitely seek out Tyler at next adventure. I had a difficult time finding anyone I could trust to punch my hoji’s, and several fitters in the area weren’t comfortable with it. Tyler easily punched it. It wasn’t even challenging for him. His work was careful and attentive. He was highly competent, experienced, and overall an outstanding bootfitter. Tyler also noticed that my liners on the bottom of my boot weren’t cut correctly, and ground them to the right fit. He was passionate about his job and doing high quality work! I don’t even live in Portland but I’ll return to this store for Tyler to fit my boots in the future. I rarely leave google reviews but the service was outstanding and I felt compelled to, thank you so much Tyler!I read another review that said they had a rude experience at checkout, that definitely wasn’t the case for me! The folks at the front were helpful when I called in the morning—they recommended I find Tyler later in the day—and during checkout they were friendly and fun to talk with. Also gave me a free hat! Seemed like a cool atmosphere and a fun adventure store. Luckily I found the exit before spending all of my money, the cool new and used gear was tempting.

Unfortunately, Atomic wasnt able to replace the bindings, but Carmella was a great advocate and somehow was able to arrange some savings on a replacement.I can only speak highly of her and the whole NA team, including Dale for remounting my replacements.Communication 11 out of 10Service 11 out of 10Helping out a customer without any concrete obligation 11/10My ability to ski Moguls 2/10 :(Had a great experience getting my boots/binding/mounts set up.
