I brought in an old, rotted piece of cedar that I was trying to replace for a customer that was tongue and groove cedar. The wood was old and in very bad condition yet they were still able to help me with getting the replacement piece I was looking for. They even cut it to size for me. Easy as pie. Replaced the piece of rotted wood and painted it to match. Home owner was pleased and so was I. If Im in need of lumber in a hurry Ill be going here again.

Wow. I cant express how disappointing this place was. Be warned, that customer service here is unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional. We understand how folks make mistakes, everybody is human. But when we as the customer get yelled at about someone elses mistake, thats when things become a problem. We were charged with the incorrect type of wooden planks for our order. While the load was being cut and brought to our van we realized this error and notified staff. We noticed this after the fact that the wood had been cut and placed in our van. This was not what we ordered, and when we expressed this we were berated by staff and eventually the manager of this location. We were especially surprised with how the manager expressed their frustration with the already cut planks- which again, were not what we ordered.Customers have very little control of how orders are placed at this store. we dont know the codes on the receipts and we rely on staff to help enter the info correctly and guide us into figuring out how to support our projects. We were willing to pay extra for cutting the planks for our order as well.Yet when we realize the mistake it was as if we were supposed to apologize for this error? We do not recommend this place, ever.

Just went to the Parr lumberyard for the first time today. Normally I’m pretty loyal to my local mom and pop lumberyard but unfortunately they did not have stock for a project I’m working on. So I called the Parrs and spoke on the phone regarding the patient’s pricing and availability of the materials I needed. Sounded reasonable so I went over. The attendant showed me the section for the clear lumber I needed and noted the rack of tight knot material as well. Went to pick out the clear lumber I needed and noticed a few good looking boards in the tight knit rack and threw them on top. Went inside to pay and got charged an extra $2 a linear foot than what was quoted. Ouch. But then again I had it all loaded so with a bitter taste and much less money I went outside to show my receipt to the attendant. He pointed out that the tight knit boards I chose were “clear” (duh, that’s why I picked them out of the tight knot rack). He then proceeded to tell me I had to pay the clear price for them. I told him I had all the clear I needed and had chosen the extra boards because they were a bargain. He continued to be obstinate and sent me inside to find the manager to discuss the issue on my own. After finding said manager we returned to discuss the matter only to find the attendant had re-racked the tight knot boards I chose into the clear rack so the manager could not evaluate the situation He intentionally made me look like a liar and a thief. Never ever again Parr lumber. Thank you for reminding me why I shop at my local and scrupulous lumberyard. Lesson learned. #Mrplywood

Glad I found these guys.- They stock Kiln-dried lumber.- Minimal wane, slightly more than what you would see at big box, but less than Ive seen at other places.- They often stock #2 & Btr grade, as opposed to Std & Btr that most places stock.- Easy, quick, and cheap delivery- Easy quoting (via Email or website) and purchasing (via Phone)- Competitive pricing. Slightly more than big-box for most of my items, but its also hard to compare pricing when you struggle to find the same quality. Id guess I went with Big Box for about half of my project, and Parr for the other half.Im not a fan of working with lumber. Its dimensionally unstable and imprecise. Give me steel any day. That said, any future lumber projects of mine will be made only from Kiln Dried, #2 (or #1) and Btr.If you are sick of buying anything green, or wasting a lot of time sifting through a Std & Btr grade, then Parr Lumber may be a good fit. You are still gonna get the occasional disappointing piece of lumber, but less so than two other places I tried.Update: I dropped a star (now 4/5) because the window rep was a pain to work with. I actually paid $100 more for the same exact windows at another place just so I didnt give him the sale.

Great spot for supplies/tools. The quality of the wood is top notch, I go here for a quick stop for supplies, or when I need quality wood! Seriously, if working on a project, do yourself a favor and dont go to home depot or lowes, the wood here at part lumber is way better... Like way way better.

I was really hoping to have a good experience today walking into Parr, they are located right across the street from my job site. Unfortunately they tried to charge me LITERALLY TWICE AS MUCH as the big box stores. I needed supplies to repair a small section of fence. They wanted me to pay $350. I couldn’t believe it. Shocked. I went to Lowe’s and got the exact same supplies for $150. The folks were nice at the counter, and they sympathized, but at the end of the day the pricing is completely out of touch with reality.

Average selection available, nice little hardware selection too, allows for one stop shop for most average projects. However, the staff is very cold, they argue with each other openly in front of customers. They seem annoyed by customers.Have made 2 visits, both the same experience. Will still shop there to finish my current project, but will most likely avoid in the future.

Good selection of lumber for my uses. Not the cheapest, but with a wide range of choices for every use and certainly better than a box store. Have many options for higher quality timber and materials. The young gentleman who helped me was quick and pleasant, dealing easily with ripping some plywood for me while also handling other customers.Happy that the long line to load purchases was misleading; I was in and out quick.

I met with Kent and Luis, these guys were great to help me with my home decking project. I brought my sketches of my Deck step project with me and Kent helped me. Between my ideas and his advice & ideas, we were able to come up with a wood parts list and he also saved me a bundle. I would recommend Parr Lumber to my friends as I will be back too!8/9/19I again asked for assistance for a Garage Door Wood Frame I was working on with my son-in-law, With help from Kent @ Parr Lumber and after discussing my wood project. I made a list of wood supplies I would need, I ask Kent if he rented a table saw and he and told me no, He then offered his own table saw for me to use. After getting all my wood pieces cut. I returned the Table saw to Kent as the project was completed. The Customer Service from Kent Marcus and his Team @ Parr Lumber cant be beat. Their People skills are awesome also. I again would recommend Parr Lumber to my friends.and ill be back.

I recently bought cedar fence boards there. I got a quote from their website, asked a couple of questions via email to which I received prompt answers and placed the order from my computer. The order was at the counter when I got there. It was filled shortly by very capable yard personnel. A week later I returned five of the boards that werent usable and picked up five good ones. The fence looks great and my experience with Parr Lumber was excellent!

By trade Im a cabinet maker, not a carpenter. So I go to Parr because I can ask them questions to get the right advice and materials that I need. I will say, on occasion, customer service has lacked only slightly, and staff maybe could be more friendly. Other than that, I always get the right materials at the right price, often equal to or lower price than the big box stores. And its hard to put a value on good advice/knowledge.

I ordered some exterior primed 2x4s. One of them was rotten to hell. It wasn’t a large job, and I couldn’t get away with 8 feet of unusable material. I called them up, they had a truck out the same day to swap out my *single board*! These people deal with orders of hundreds of thousands of dollars - my business is nothing to them. Yet they took the time to make sure my order was right.Their lumber isn’t always the highest quality, but their customer service more than makes up for it. I’m about as small-time as builders can be, but the folks who work here never make me feel that way. They treat my $300 order the same as if it were a $30,000 order.

Been here a few times over the years. It’s always been a disappointing experience. I’d recommend a different Parr yard like NW 19th. At this location customer service is always lacking. Parr in general is quite expensive. For example #4 rebar is $8.40 a piece. That’s double the price of masons supply or even Home Depot. They are a lumber yard, so maybe that’s part of it, but overall Ill drive a bit further to get better service.

Even though the employees are nice, service is ridiculously slow. The whole system of picking up wood is poorly executed. I am a female, home-owner who walked in today to get materials to seismic retrofit my house. One gentleman immediately offered help locating materials. An older, heavier-set man at the counter with the grey facial hair and wirey grey hair asked if I needed help. I said No, one of the other guys is taking care of me. Thanks. To which he responded Well, Id like to say something bout that, but they could fire me for it. Hahaha..Covert sexism is still sexism. Parr lost me and my familys business.

Normally deal with Parr in Albany. Great people & service, however I needed to pick one stair tread and special order door. I asked if the door could be wrapped with plastic since it was raining, they ignored my request. I asked if they could cut the 12 foot stair tread into three 4 footers since I only needed one 4 footer to finish my project. As I was going down the road, I noticed that he cut four 3 footers. What a waste of money, I should have checked before I left. I think both of my requests were ignored or misunderstood is because there was a language barrier. I have been in this store several times and I agree with others comments about poor customer service.

As contractor I love to deal with professionals, but your not going to find many at Parr. Its turned into a half Home Depot where they are hiring customer service droids, instead of people with a construction back round. None of them can seem to find an order in the system either. They could scroll for hours and never find your order but they are happy to re-enter it at full retail pricing... Unless you can get it delivered go to HD or Lowes.
