Very helpful! The counter person is very kind and helpful. Definitely worth the drive there. I just got some basic supplies a water separator filter, oil filter and a pretty cool pump to change the oil. Some good advice he gave me is to take a picture of the motor and serial number and it will make finding the parts you need a must have so save the photo

I arrived at Cook engine this Monday morning to pick a part they had set aside for me. Upon arrival while standing at the parts counter I can hear a man in his office chastising one of his employees over something he was not happy about. First impression was I thought that was rude to be done with the door open for all to hear.Next they brought me my parts which I paid for with a credit card. When I saw the price of $129 I was taken back at the cost. So while he was running the transaction I did a price search on google and saw where I could get the same part for $69. So I asked for a refund, explaining that i was comfortable paying a local business a little more than internet prices but not double. This brought the man in the office that was chewing on one of his employees out of his office to confront me. He identified himself as the manager and that I was never welcome in his store again in a voice that I could tell he was ready for this to escalate. At 70 I decided to take the high road with this guy but I did feel threatened and feared for my safety while in this store.A crazy day at Cook engine, I recommend staying as far away as possible. Anger management issues.

We took an Engine up for a rebuild. I noticed a similar series engine and Cook Engine sold it to me for a fair price and much less than a rebuild would have cost us. Very Fair folks to Deal with. Honest and good Service

Had a great experience with their parts department. Kelly was very helpful and they were able to get the exact parts I needed for my boat. The parts are sometimes hard to find but Kelly was able to dial in the exact pieces needed to keep me in season for a couple more months. Ill be sure to use Cook Engine for my parts source. Yes, they are a bit more expensive but I did not get knock off Chinese parts. I got the proper parts that make the proper fit as intended by the manufacturer.

The service team led by Ruth at Cook is great, they get work done timely when they give you a drop off date and dont just let your boat sit in the yard for eons like some others in the area. Also, I really appreciate them bringing things not on my list to my attention that need some love. They also have done a great job giving options for how to get a repair done, which has saved me $$$ in some cases. I dont let anyone else turn a wrench on my boat, highly recommend them.

Dont shop here... thought I found a good local dealer... I was wrong.. bought a fuel pump and got charged a 25% restocking fee. Not made aware at purchace. Had to return item and they pocketed the rest. JEFF was asked personally to re-consider. Needed a couple hundred dollars of parts too. They dont work as a parts counter, just overpriced boat repar.

Just pulled my boat from another mechanic shop who originally sold my boat and was very unimpressed spending over a grand, not having my boat on the water for over a month and it is still not working correctly. I called around and found Cook Engine, made an appointment with Ruth to drop off the boat. She was awesome to deal with and apparently shes the grand daughter of the original owner or something. By the time I started to disconnect my boat from the truck they already had a mechanic with his head in the engine compartment and tools in hand. Cant wait to finish this review. So far I LOVE THESE GUYS!!!Update: Theyve done it again. Same boat, different problem. I showed up unannounced and they warned me it might my be done by 4th of July. Its June 24th and what I thought would be another $grand$ turned out to be $223.14 they could easily be crooks but they arent. What amazing people over there at Cook Engine. If Ive got a choice then Ill never stop using them for my boat repairs.

I employed Cook Engines to perform a simple task to change the oil in both my engines since I can no longer do the work myself. I found the technicians to be very filthy in appearance and has left a large amount of oil in my bilge that I later cleaned. I also had to have the ignition replaced due to the fact one of the technicians broke the key off in the ignition. Six hours later, the project was done and performed very poorly at best. I generally performed the oil change myself in about an hour and a half. I attempted to speak with the owner who seemed less concerned with my issue and more concerned with badgering me as a customer. Needless to say, I will not ever use Cook Engines again. They are too expensive, unprofessional and rude in general, not to mention left my boat a mess and greasy fingerprints on my carpet and in the engine compartment. Beware!

I had a horrible experience, was out roughly 1500.00, was 2 months without my boat, and was handed back a broken boat with the exact same symptom it was dropped off for.******************************************************************************************************************Then I was threatened with being arrested for trespassing if I showed up at their establishment to discuss the matter of a refund. If I could give this place a negative five stars I would.*******************************************************************************************************************Oh yes and let’s not forget the bonus of the weather damage to the wood cap rails from the boat having sat out in the elements unprotected for two months.

As a business owner, I get frustrated with the Google reveiw process. Business owners seldom have the opportuinity to dispute or share their side of the story without coming off really bad in the eye of the public. The reveiw process is often an avenue for miserable unhappy people to take out their issues on others.I have owned boats of various kinds since 1996. The mechanic I had for 15 years retired. I have used several reputable repair in hopes if finding another shop I could trust. Just recently, I have decided to continually use Cook Engine for my repair needs. Jeff and his team do the best they can to provide superior customer service. Are mistakes made, of course, thats life, but their attitude about making it right is what makes a company one you would be eager to patronize again.Jeff, Factory and the rest of the guys know boats, they know engines. Do they all look like models from GQ? Of course not, their mechanics! Who cares what they look like. They will do their best to get you back on the water as quickly and inexpensivly as possible. Will it be the cheapest? Probaly not. Remember the old saying YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Also, though they are very good at what they do, sometimes you just cant ressurect someones piece of junk they call a boat......I am a satisfied cheerleader customer. I recommend Jeff and his team without reservation.

I fish commercially off the beach in Pacific City,I have a late model Volvo (3.0 liter GXI-J). Volvo only made the fuel-injected model on this size engine for a very short time and discontinued it.Before I came to Cook Engine I tried 2 other authorized Volvo dealers for repairs and was told they did not have the diagnostic software to troubleshoot and would not buy it because they rarely if ever see this particular model. I was told by one business which i consider to be a good one that I would probably have to pull the boat to Coastal Marine in Seattle or might possibly try Cook Engine. I gave Cook a call and explained my dilemna, they told me they had all the software Volvo has available and to bring it in. They diagnosed it as soon as I brought it in case parts needed to be ordered. That was before they were really busy but I was in and out in a couple days. Take 2: just had more fuel problems and called them, Ruth told me they were about 10 days booked but to bring it in and they may be able to at least look at it and have a plan.Seconds after I pulled in Jeff was in the boat doing diagnostics and figured out the problem while staying focused on other projects around the yard. Definitely a multi-tasker. I am 100% satisfied with Jeff, Ruth, Renee and Cook Engine as are several of my other dorymen friends here in town.Lots of good outfits around but in our opinion Cook Engine stands tall! Waiting for a phone call from them now hopefully to go get my boat and get back on the water. Its Tuna time. More to come.....
