Best coffee shop in the neighborhood! The oats and honey latte is my go-to. The staff are excellent and youll always feel welcome here. Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating making it a great place to work and meet up with friends.
First time my wife and I have been here and we both agreed it was some of the best coffee weve had. Pastries were very good also. And a great vibe in the shop. Highly recommended!
Nice staff, quality coffee and nibbles. Outdoor seating in small two-somes or several park benches under canopies. Knocked one star because there were two people working behind the counter but one was at the far end talking to a regular and ignoring the line of customers.
Terrible latte (ignore all the fancy pics), not sure why these cafes charge premium for failed drinks. Maybe they have good food i didnt try. Nice staff.
Friendly staff, cool space, and good location. However, I could barely taste the double shot espresso in my drink. Maybe it’s an old batch, maybe it’s lower grade espresso, but I don’t think I would try it again as much I like the people and space there :/
Such good coffee and the maple bacon sandwich ... omg. cool employees toooo
Good coffee and sandwiches.
Coffee Time is an interesting little corner cafe with an unassuming appearance that really belies what a lovely experience it is to visit Coffee Time. Although the chalk-written menus may seem small, the menu is packed with quality meals and drinks, seemingly designed this way to make sure that no one could ever stumble upon this cafe but find nothing to order that suits their tastes and/or meets their dietary restrictions. As for my visit, the vegan breakfast spinach wrap is delicious to such a surprising degree that I kept thinking, Wow! after the first few bites. I had already decided any vegan wrap would be decidedly sub par and unfulfilling. The cold brew drink was creamy and lovely with hazelnut syrup, just as the cashier had recommended. The staff seemed consistently friendly and helpful, as well. Prices arent terrible but they certainly dont fall under budget breakfast.Obviously, this isnt the one thing you must see in Portland at all costs if youre suddenly living here or are a tourist. However, not giving this place a shot ASAP when you have the resources to do so is doing yourself an injustice.
Jan was incredibly nice and friendly, the coffee was also damn delicious
Best cafe in Portland. Coolest interior, great coffee, the lighting alone makes it perfect to study in or read in. Will be back post-covid.
My experience was excellent, I would come back and will be back the coffee is locally made and delicious.
Has a great breakfast menu and outdoor seating in the heart of Northwest Portland finest area.
Great coffee and delicious food. They are doing a great job adapting to social distancing measures and have clean outdoor seating available.
This is my favorite coffee shop in Portland and Im lucky enough to live right around the corner. Coffee is amazing and the backrooms are so unique and cosy. Plus this place is open until midnight and I have wanted to live near something like that forever. They always play good music too. I love this place.
Great place to study - ample space. The room on the inside is a little damp and smells funny though. Couldnt sit there. The cappuccino is not that great. I think the roast they are using is too dark. There are some good food option though. So if youre not too picky about the taste of your coffee and need a place to work, this is it.
Still wonderful after many years.
Pro baristas making top-notch drinks in this cozy neighborhood spot with a cavernous back room. Great spot to meet someone, find a quiet table to work, or grab a light meal. Their rosemary chicken salad melt is phenomenal. To me, this is the quintessential Portland coffeehouse.
I will never visit this estaplishment again! I was on an afternoon walk with a friend she is an older lady and needed to rest for a minute to catch her breath she was the only one sitting. We do not look like riff raff we are well dressed and clean, and she was sitting on the last bench closest to Hoyt street when this young man came out and told us that she can not sit there. She told him she needed to catch her breath and asked him would you like me to have a heart attack in front of your establishment. Simply based off of this experience we will not be patrons of this establishment. If this is a way you treat an elderly lady I can only imagine people of color or people that are homeless and not showered. Shame on you!!
Covid-friendly, great service, clean bathrooms, plentiful outdoor seating, and awesome coffee!
Everything a good neighborhood coffee shop should be. Plenty of cozy seating, inside and outside Good food choices(breakfast and pastries). Friendly staff. Eclectic decor.
This is my favorite cafe in all of Portland. I have been coming to this cafe since I was 17yo (19yrs). I love studying hard. I love how its in a nook. I like how its an enclosed space with enough room, but not too spacious, and theres rooms that are sectioned off. Everyone here behaves properly and is chill. I generally dont see dirty people, have never dealt with anyone with bad BO yet. Most people here are quite proper, and the vagrants are few, and stay outside. The vagrants however Ive never noticed have behavioural issues. They generally play chess and chat. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The only place in Portland with even a semi-active chess scene
My favorite coffee shop in all of NW Portland. Great people, great coffee.
This is my favorite coffee shop in Portland by huge margins. Not only do they have great coffee, the baristas are fantastic, the atmosphere is great, and the shop itself is a super cool layout!Whether or not you need to study from 7 to 12 or youre just getting coffee with a friend, Coffee Time is the best place to do it.Students, theyre open to midnight and its a nice quiet place to study most of the time!
Cute coffee shop! I went there to work on the laptop and noticed it was a cute shop, but small. After trying to find the restrooms, I realized theres 2 more rooms in the back! Super cute! Will definitely be returning.
I love the atmosphere of this place. It is open late which is awesome. The prices are a bit on the high side I feel and they can be a bit rude about the bathroom key at times. Still one of the better coffee shops in town. Also has a chess night which is awesome.
I love how late they are open, and the CBD add on is a great start to my morning. They also have printers, and many non dairy options. Great place to get some work done, or grab a small breakfast. Very friendly staff and a quiet place to chill.
This is my favorite coffee shop that Ive ever been in, and Ive got to have been to over 100 by now.The interior is THE COOLEST for a coffee shop of its size. It reminds me of a Hobbit Hole from Tolkiens books: it goes back and back with low ceilings, warm lighting, and small tables scattered throughout. There are usually people playing chess outside, sometimes people playing tabletop games inside, and all enjoying great beverages. To top it all off, its open until midnight!!
All around good vibes. Nice atmosphere, great coffee. Metal straws, recycling, long hours, and enough space. Enjoyed it immensely. Was a lack of parking though
The decor is nice. A very quiet place; low-key. Hot chocolate was good. Staff was friendly and diligent.
Is that your chess set? I need another beginner at the gameAnd brokenhearted that no more vegan wraps because of Home Grown Smoker fire? Love you all, Syd. Herbal ice teas are great in the summer (friend Max).
Casual, friendly coffee shop. Plenty of space in a maze of back rooms where you can read, work or hang out with friends. Coffee is pretty good. Nice selection of sandwiches and treats.
This place is a unique gem of NW portland. It has a laid back atmosphere with a lot of space hidden in the back. Its quiet and the coffee served is excellent. You can come hide away to get work done on your laptop, read or meet up with friends and enjoy the outdoor seating that will expose you to the eccentric vibe of Irving street. Also a great spot for late night laptop sprints, as they are open until midnight. Also must say that the staff is always easy going and friendly, accentuating the relaxed vibe.
Nice staff and amazing prices. The interior was a bit dark which I personally liked but could be off putting to others. I recommend this place for anyone that likes coffee and good prices. Really nice selection of food items offered as well!
Great place to get work done on a laptop late at night. They stay open until midnight. I had an almond milk cappuccino and it was very good.
Good coffee. Small but very good selection of food. The Wifi password changes often and is posted near the ordering station. They do have a wireless printer station which is available to customers.
Rad place with nice staff quality beverages and a nongendered restroom. I really love to come here to play chess with my buddy and there are often others playing chess too. Absolutely my favorite coffee shop on the west side!
A virtual NW institution and I mean that! Often tables are filled with laptops and coffee. Most of the place gives off a cozy intimate basement vibe, great for hanging out 😸
One of the best coffee shops in Northwest Portland. Great coffee, customer service and cool ambiance. Open late hours, so its a perfect place to use wifi, and do your work in a lively environment, or simply hangout with friends. Decor is classical, and the shop is quite big though it does look really small from outside. Plus, its heaven for Chess lovers.
Delicious coffee, good prices, nice staff, and open late! The ambiance is pretty cool too. Great place for people watching.
A little worn and musty but charmingly so. Almost feels like it belongs right near a college campus.Their cold brew is by Cascadia and it’s tasty on nitro, with a marshmallow fluff body and nutty finish.
Im at legacy good sam waiting for my son to arrive, its 11:15 pm and all other coffee shops are closed.. I walked into coffee time and the man behind the counter is obviously at the end of his shift as it closes at midnight..He greets me with a friendly smile and a warm welcome..takes my order and asks how my night is going so I told him that we where expecting a baby soon. This guy actually gets more engaged in the conversation at this point and makes me feel like I have a friend in a very unfamiliar place..he then declined my payment and payed for my coffee with his own money! My friend you made a delicious mocha and my night! Thank you!
Super cute, comfy, and friendly! The workers are chatty and friendly not only with each other but all of the costumers. I just had their house coffee but it was good and a decent price! They also have a few none dairy/vegan options available instead of milk/creamer.
Great customer service. Great food and awesome coffee
Been going to coffee time since 2006.. Great coffee, great place to hang out.. They have chess sets behind the counter and board games
Great coffee (Water Avenue!), great pastries. Staff is super friendly, atmosphere is very laid back -- perfect for a rainy day -- and the seating is abundant. Prices are reasonable for what you get, too!Definitely a gem of NW Portland; Im more than happy to make the trip out here, and I bet youll be, too!
Excellent customer service! Great selection of both coffee and Tea. Quick service. Casual atmosphere. A lot of seating w/ outdoor options. Been going here for years.
Super friendly. great prices. the coffee is def high quality. a ton of seating inside. they have sandwiches and the wait is usually not bad. free 2 hour parking spots.
Hands-down favorite coffee shop in Portland. Ample space to chat, study, do work or play chess and the coffee- oh my gosh the coffee. Deep, rich, and highly caffeinated. Best Ive found anywhere in Portland. They sell the beans they use (Cascadia Coffee Roasters, local) and I often give them as gifts to friends and family.
Coffee is great. Matcha is better ( if the right person is making it). I love that this is one of the few coffee shops in the city thats not flooded with yuppie toddlers. Its definitely a space where students and creatives come to hang.
Absolutely nice place to have coffee and chill, study. Interiors of this place are quite interesting. Hot chocolate had the perfect amount of sugar 😊
Back when I was a student I used to go here all the time to work on my projects. They have a great room in the back that is perfect for studying and focusing. They also have good booths to isolate yourself. Good spot.
Its the neighborhood coffee place. Good atmosphere to hangout or get work done. Good drinks and selection of food.
I have been coming to Coffee Time on and off for the last year. The service here has always been good, the coffee is superb, and I really enjoyed the turkey croissant sandwich I had one afternoon. One of my favorite places to take a book and relax for a few hours. Also, dont let the smaller front fool you, there is more than enough seating stretching to the back of the shop.
Good coffee, tea and eats. Large lounge desk area in back. The place to gather.
I live/work part time in this neighborhood and pass 3 coffees to get to this one, daily. Exceptional coffee, warm hearted and skilled baristas and a quiet, co-collective space to work, relax, or catch up with a friend over a sensational cup of coffee.
Nice and cosy with plenty of seating options. well decorated.ordered a chai latte that was unfortunately just a milky mess.5/5 for the shop itself: great wifi, perfect to get work done here. really warm and clean.1/5 for the chai latte.
On a day that I was broke, coffee time would not even match the policy of starbucks, which is beholden to shareholders to maximize profits. It would take hundreds of cups of coffee to match the value of tips I have left at this establishment. I would recommend revising your policy, otherwise Starbucks will be the only place for chess players, misfits, vagabonds, and people who would otherwise value character over profit.
Toasty coffee in a hole in the wall cafe, lots of people go here to work on laptops or study and I dont blame them.
Nice servers, really good work environment. Generally quiet, tasty drinks, Im not sure Id take a date here though. At least, not to the back. Bathroom is a little gross, but the rest is nice.
Delicious coffee that is well roasted, and some of the most creative and delightful drinks! Their staff is always patient and courteous, even when very busy.
A funky, fun place thats open late. Mostly populated by hipsters and actually hip locals caffeinating, hanging with friends, working on artsy projects, or flying solo & slumming online.
Their lavender almond milk chai was sooo tasty. Super cute space great to get lots of work done. I like the different little rooms that make it seem cozy and private. Great lighting and great service.
Love the cold brew here!!
Great coffee and other goodies. The shop is very popular with people who bring their laptops to work there.
The drink specials are wonderful, and the staff is some of the friendliest Ive met at a coffee shop. I used to come here and work pretty frequently because of the late hours.
Good place to grab a coffee or a cappuccino. Everything we tried as a family was great. The staff was nice and helpful.
Nice complex, good parking, easy highway access, has vacancy at least on May 2019
I found my new place of relaxation and I can do work without any worries
Such a great neighborhood coffee shop! Plenty of room to hang out and pretty quiet too.
While there are four more commonly known time zones in the continental United States there is a lesser know time standard that only exists between Irving and Johnson on 21ave in Portland Oregon. It’s called CoffeeTime (CT) and it’s about an hour later than whatever time you think it is.
Excellent visit as usual. The who are e house payments are gone because of the flood. Another phase of Portland history gone forever. So sad
Really nice place to work or study. Low ceilings and dim light, late hours, and reasonably priced coffee.
Friendly barista, place was packed and she was doing a great job. Great study spot. And, of course, excellent coffee.
Great place to grab coffee or a snack and chat with a friend, or study. Open late! Nice staff.
Great place to study or just relax. The employees are friendly and quick to get your order. They have, in my opinion anyway, the best coffee cake anywhere.
Very good coffee. Same great coffee bean as Cascadia but with a very different, trendy atmosphere.Good food selection, too (dem bagels)
Sick circular cutout window near the back of the shop. Lots of seating and a free refill on your mug coffee. Lovely place
The coffee was good and the atmosphere relaxed and pleasant.
Great little coffee shop with friendly staff and a nice little selection of drinks. I would definitely go here again.
Nice quiet place to get away from the yuppie hustle of 21st Ave. Good coffee as they just recently started brewing Water St. coffee! Some good snacks as well and they carry Dovetail baked goods.
Cozy coffee shop with several different nooks and crannies you make yourself comfortable in. Great for homework, hanging out, or a date!
Easy to find, cool local vibe, awesome branding, quick friendly service, yummy seasonal March drink; almond milk lavender chai with cinnamon and cardamom on top(!), with food and pastry options for all diets! Ill be back :)
Great staff great drinks
Cool place to buckle down for work (always pretty quiet) but mostly just a coffee spot. The food is meh for all the other food in this neighborhood but otherwise its a reliable, good, location with fast service & free wifi.
Do you ever wish you could go back in time to when coffee was just getting popular in England? All of the scientists and philosophers in booths and alcoves talking and studying. Well, youve almost found it, coffee time is great, because of its ambiance.
Great local ambiance and staff. Coffee is great!
Stop here for a cup of coffee. Pretty clean and quite this place also has a printer if you need study or need print out things. Open until midnight.
