Excellent service and communication, extremely honest shop. I brought my vehicle to the dealership to be diagnosed after my transmission started shifting erratically. I was told by the dealership that there was in internal issue with my transmission and it would be $6,000 to replace it. Needless to say, I brought my car to Aamco for a second opinion. Peter the owner, called me within 2 hours of dropping my car off and told me that he could fix my car with a software reprogram for less than $300. A couple hours later Peter called me and told me that the car was fixed and ready to be picked up! Huge thank to you Peter and his staff for being completely transparent, honest and coming to the rescue. They saved me over $5,000 and had me back in my car the same day! Words cannot express my gratitude. Would recommend this shop to anyone in need of an honest repair facility that does not play games. Thanks again to Pete and the Aamco team!

Brought my car in with a transmission problem. I got a free estimate based on the symptoms. They were very knowledgeable and informative in explaining the possible issues and costs. When they took the transmission apart it turned out to be a worst case scenario. They worked with me to help make a decision on what to do based on the age and overall condition of my car. I never felt pressured and felt that they were honest and had my best interest as their priority. I decided to not get it fixed and they didnt charge me for their diagnostic work. It was a good experience. I would highly recommend Aamco.

Paid 124.00$ and he did absolutely nothing he charged me for, which was to check my fluids, a noise in the rear and my tires. He deflated the tires and said they were overflated by 20 lbs and that should take care of noise, it didn’t. Had to return the next day after because of a new terrible noise. The steering fluid valve completely dry😮 he lied with a straight face as to why I suddenly have a new problem that he said nothing about when I paid him and he could fix for almost 400$ more. Totally dishonest and a thief. I will not be taking my car back there and advise of not to trust him, especially women and people of color. Also if you have an adversion to the smell of marijauna don’t go there, the place reeks of it. Will be filing a case with BBB.

These guys are great! Peter has great customer service. He’s honest about whether you need a repair or not. He goes above and beyond to be helpful.I have an old 2005 Dodge Ram that they replaced a transmission casing and have honored the warranty. Also they showed me the old part so I could see the damage to it. Most garages won’t do that and I think a lot of customers sometimes feel ripped off or question if certain repairs were necessary.I told Peter with this old truck he would surely see me again soon. 😊

They were great in person, didnt charge me for the engine diagnostics (thats a +). Then proceeded to not answer any of my callbacks and return no messages (several were left on their machine). The last part is beyond frustrating.

I called on Wednesday and spoke to Adam who picked up right away and told me to come in Friday morning (today). Was extremely patient with me on the phone and didn’t rush me at all.I’m there for no more than 10 minutes and he told me that the Heat Shield was loose. He replaced a couple loose screws that he said were rusting. Now from what I’ve seen, there are a lot of mechanics who will rip you off. That’s not the cause with these guys! They genuinely care and explain everything to you. Honest and great customer service. I will definitely be returning!

The Best Shop Hands Down I Have Ever Been To. No joke, honest guys, knowledgeable, great service and very accommodating.I found these guys a couple of years ago in the phone book when I was having transmission issues with my 2004 Dodge Neon. They got me right in for a Free evaluation and quickly determined that my transmission issue was actually my rear brakes that were seized and dragging. No relation to a potential $2,500+ transmission repair. A couple of hours and some new hardware and brake shoes and my Neon was back to driving perfectly, at a fraction of the cost.I have continued to use Adam & Peter (The 2 Owners) over the past 5 years and they never disappoint. The told me when it was time to lay my old gal (my dodge neon) to rest, and even helped me find my new car by helping me evaluate potential used cars before I purchased anything that was going to be a waste of time. And saved me even more headaches by catching issues with those vehicles!In summation, these guys are great. They treat you like a person, not like a number, and explain everything to you so you can understand their reasoning behind the repairs. They do not assume that everyone knows everything about cars and throw out a whole bunch of technical terms to confuse you into agreeing to work. They treat everyone the same. Men, women, old or young, it does not matter as I have seen them interact with all. I trust these guys implicitly and wouldnt take my car anywhere else and I suggest that you dont either.Great work guys.

I could not be more satisfied with the service I received from AAMCO in Portland, Maine. Not only was the work that was done to my car fast, efficient, and extremely reasonably priced, but the owner and other employees provided friendly service that will keep my business for as long as Im living in the area. The owner, Adam, went above and beyond on multiple occasions providing wonderful customer service, including keeping the shop open a few minutes late until my cab arrived and talking to my father on the phone about the details of the work that was done. I couldnt have had a more positive experience.

My 2003 Chevy 3500 transmission died, my only plow truck. I live 1/4 mile in the woods so my truck is my lifeline. I called Aamco and spoke to Adam, he was very encouraging that he could help me and would save me as much money as he could. Most importantly he took the truck right in. Adam suggested a few ideas, to try to fix the problem. It developed the transmission needed to be replaced. Adam ordered the transmission. It was delayed by a snow storm on the east coast still, his crew installed the transmission in record time. I then got sick and couldnt pick up the truck right away. Adam and Peter graciously said no problem pick it up when you can. Picked it up a few days later and everything was done perfectly. This shop does top notch work in a timely manner. These guys are great. Had the transmission in my truck rebuilt by them. I called them like 600 times asking questions and they were always courteous and helpful, and always called when they said they would. If you youre looking for an honest shop and great mechanics, this is the place. I had an issue with my car on a Friday afternoon and they found a way to fit me in and get me set to go, even when they were stacked with cars. Adam and crew are awesome!

Brought my GTI in for an oil change and to get a bit of diagnostic for a coolant leak. The guys working there had the car in an out within an hour. Although the oil change went without a hitch, they were honest with me by informing me that the leak issue is beyond their expertise. Instead of overcharging me for a job they werent even sure they could complete just for the extra buck, they sent me to a trusted shop who also provided 5-star, fair-priced, and considerate service. I recently purchased a used car and was looking for a mechanic to look it over and make sure everything was working as it should. I brought it to AAMCO and they found a big issue with my car leaking oil. Instead of trying to dupe me out of my money, they told me it is probably still covered under Honda’s Powertrain Warrenty or if not, to contact the dealership I purchased from and get them to fix it. I contacted Honda that day and thankfully for me it is covered under the Warranty. I definitely trust these guys and will come back in the future.

Will not take my car anywhere else!I brought my SUV to AAMCO in Portland for the first time in September 2012. I asked them to assess the condition of my transmission after the dealer replaced my cracked, leaking radiator. Faulty radiators in numerous vehicles just like my own were cracking and leaking coolant into the transmission causing the transmission to fail. I was pretty convinced that my transmission was a goner and would need to be replaced. However, the guys at AAMCO performed an accurate assessment of my vehicles condition and informed me that my transmission was in fact completely fine. They absolutely could have taken advantage of my situation but turned out to be honest, trustworthy professionals. I have been taking my SUV there for service ever since! Thanks guys!

One bad review and it is probably not even for this place, they deserve a 5 star just to try and offset that dummies 1 star ! I’ve never been here but every single other review is 5 stars so there’s just no way it’s a bad shop ... I’m looking for someone to do some work on an axle and I’ll be calling them soon ! They fixed my Honda like new!

The staff were very friendly, and very knowledgeable. However, I brought in my car to this AMMCO to have my transmission checked. I had no check engine light it just felt as if the transmission fluid was low as it was slow to shift from one gear to the next. I dropped the car off, about a day later I receive a phone call saying that the transmissions bands are bad. My options were for $2400 swap with a used motor with 20,000 less miles or for $4500 have AMCCO send my motor out to a dealer to have fixed. I figured let me see what the dealer would say since the transmission was going to be sent there anyways. The dealer checked the fluid and said I was about 1-2 quarts low. After draining the fluid we put in a new filter and new fluid and car worked like new cost me a third of the prices this garage offered.

I wouldnt take my car anywhere else! Theyve always gotten my car in when I needed it and worked around my schedule. Theyre honest and I appreciate that they always take the time to explain things to me. I would recommend them to anyone!

I went to Aamco Portland with a very shaky transmission (150k mi.) that couldn`t even start out in drive. I was resigned to a costly rebuild/remanufacture bill. Adam and Peter discovered all I needed was a mysteriously missing relay switch. And no, they did not try to upsell me, or tell me it was about worn out anyhow. They just put in a new relay and said There ya go!With transmission problems, all most of us have is the integrity of the repair shop.Thank you, guys.

Adam is very honest and professional. Another mechanic told me that it was time to change my 2011 Accords timing belt and will cost around $1,500. Adam of AAMCO did some research and confirmed that my car has Timing Chain that need not be replaced. My first visit to Aamco was in February of 2013, shortly after I had moved to Portland. The clutch on my car kept slipping out of gear on my only transportation into town, a will-not-die 98 Geo Prism. Being 3 hours away from my hometown mechanic, I was desperate for a reliable garage who would firstly- not make fun of my ride, and secondly- not take advantage of my naivety with cars. After asking around and visiting too many places, the guys at Pine Tree Auto Body suggested Aamco, and it was a match made in car heaven.Pete and Adam are awesome owners. Ya, they make bad 90s references and have a relationship like Starsky and Hutch, but they treat you like family and run an amazing business. They have kept my car running smoothly when I had any (and all) concerns, referred me to other local business that they thought would be more problem specific, checked out cars I was thinking about purchasing, and even helped me retrieve my ring when I dropped it into my Ebrake. You cant get much better service then that!I may be a girl and not know a car engine like I do a cheese plate; but I can recognize the dedication, knowledge, and terrific service that Adam and Pete distill in their business. Its the only place I recommend to my friends and family, and youd be foolish to pass this place up.
