I said it as I was walking out: its no wonder this crew has such great online reviews. From start to finish, my experience was exceptional. I was in an accident a year ago and need front end body work, so I havent been driving my 2016 Kia Soul much over that past year. It had the original battery, which died a few months ago. Now that Im ready to get my car back into good condition, I looked to Google to help me find a good mechanic. Based on the great reviews, I called A1 yesterday and spoke with Kory who was super nice and willing to be above and beyond accommodating. Dropped off my car today, and they listened to all of my info/concerns, and got back to me way quicker than I thought they would. They checked everything I wanted to be checked, and even took a look at the zip ties currently holding the front end together and made sure nothing would fall off while Im driving. Lorelei (sorry if I didnt spell it right!) up front was SO friendly and informative, and Bryan who talked to me about my car was also fantastic. I felt incredibly valued and listened to as a customer and that my car was in great hands. Plus, playing with Loreleis puppy Ranger was hands down the best part of my day. Cutest, sweetest puppy in Portland, I swear. This place feels like family, and they 1000% deserve your business. Theyre officially my go-to for anything car (or puppy playtime) related.

I would avoid this shop. Car sat for 2 whole days untouched with an emergency repair problem (coolant leak). When they finally called, they said that they hadnt even looked at it and didnt even know when they would, despite the fact that 2 days earlier they said that they would fit it in between other cars. I then had to walk 20 minutes in 95 degree weather to pick my overheating car back up as they couldnt even provide their shuttle ride service.Reply (as I cant seem to reply to your response)- thank you for responding quickly. I was able to get my car in at Honest-1 down the street that day like you guys suggested. I am sorry for dropping the car tag in your lot. Your manager Bryan was very unprofessional and threatening though.

These guys have been amazing to work with. I had an oil consumption issue with my Subaru Forester and had to take it to the dealership. The dealership then gave me a laundry list of other things that I should do on the car and when I called A1 about it not only did they give me lower quotes for the services the dealerships that I needed but they also helped me save money on one of the services that the dealership could do while they were fixing my oil issue. They are always on time, very communicative when it comes to whats happening with my vehicle and always looking for ways to save me money. I would 100% recommend them!

It’s truly difficult to find a decent auto shop that isn’t trying to pull one over on you at every stop. These guys are trustworthy and excellent at what they do. Almost a year ago, I had gone to Honest 1 auto and was quoted approx. $3000 in fees after a check engine light diagnostic and was told it was dangerous to drive my vehicle. I had just lost my job (thanks covid) and decided I’d get a second opinion. That’s when I discovered A1. They took a quick look over the same day (even though they were fully booked) and told me I was perfectly fine to drive. Fixed what was causing my check engine light to go off and saved me thousands of dollars! I go to them for everything now. Half the price for oil changes compared to big name shops and they also have great deals on tires! 😊

Wow What an amazing Auto Shop! A-1 checks all my boxes: Top Quality Mechanics, Knowledgable staff, and always happy to answer all my questions. I made an appointment with a very nice appointment setter. She was very professional and found a great time that worked for me. As I arrived, I found the office to be warm and inviting. The gentleman who greeted me was polite and ran the steps of process concerning my vehicle and needs. They gave me an approximate time on when they would update me on my vehicle. I had electrical problems on my 97 Chevy Silverado and needed an oil change. When I received my truck the mechanics checked in with me and my inspection was updated. They told me of possible future services and had met all of my needs.I loved the work, professionalism, customer service, and ease of my experience at A1 Auto. I will definitely spread the word and continue to bring my vehicles to this great auto care location. They exceeded my expectations, thank you from your front desk, to the taking my vehicle process, all the way to pick up.

They diagnosed my problem and gave me a lot of good information. The people were so nice and cheerful and diagnosed it quickly even though they werent getting any money to do so. When I have engine problems I will be returning to them.

I’ve been taking my car into this shop for years and they are phenomenal. Great service and they never try to upsell on anything unnecessary — I feel 100% confident in them and I’m very grateful for it.On top of that, all the folks in the office are absolutely great. I considered buying a different car recently, but the idea of having a vehicle I’d have to take into a dealership for maintenance was a huge deterrence — I don’t like dealing with car stuff but talking with these lovely people makes it so much better.

A-1 installed a catalytic converter for me. It took a while for the part to start performing and in the interim they answered all of my questions and addressed my concerns professionally. They operate on time and make sure that you can speak directly with your mechanic. Ill return here in the future for sure.

Honest auto repair shops are hard to find. They are not necessarily the cheapest mechanics but you get what you pay for. I would say their pricing is competitive and they always back up what they fix. A long standing auto shop is a sign of a shop that has been able to provide quality service. I mean come on they service most of the Comcast fleet and have been doing that for awhile. Basically what this all means is that they are reputable mechanics that care about their reputation and always provide top notch service.

Ive used A-1 a couple of times and had great experiences both times. They are clear about what needs to be done, provide reasonable quotes and do great work. For things that Im not doing myself this is my preferred place to get work done on my cars.

A-1 is definitely a 5-star business. I’ve had 3 cars worked on by A-1 and each experience has been great. Everyone at A-1 has always been friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. A special shout out to Kory, the owner, and to Bryan, their service manager, who has always done as he promised within the time-frame promised. I always got calls updating me on the status of my car, and until safe distancing went into effect, they were willing drop me back home or pick me up when my car was ready.A couple of weeks ago on a Saturday, my daughter’s car wouldn’t start, which had happened a couple of other times during that past week. She lives in SW Portland but was visiting me and I wanted A-1 to look at it and replace the battery, so I called hoping they were open. Kory, the owner, answered the phone and explained that they had cut back on staff and Saturday service and that he was the only one there. After hearing about the problem, he looked to see if he had the right battery or could get one. He called me back and said he had the battery being delivered within an hour and would call one of his technicians from his other location to come and look at the car and replace the battery or take care of whatever the problem was. Kory was true to his word! Within a couple of hours, the battery was replaced.I have recommended A-1 to others and will continue to take mine and my family’s cars there. Truly service with a smile.

Just picked up my truck after dropping it off only yesterday afternoon (Friday). I failed DEQ last week and found this place with stellar reviews for good honest service and fair prices, and they’re open for a few hours Saturdays. I let them know that if at all possible I didn’t want to miss work Monday and they managed to get it done Friday afternoon/Saturday morning. The owner explained everything that needed done and let me know the cost before proceeding. The part itself was expensive (which he can’t control) but the labor was very reasonable. They were kind, professional and honest and I can’t recommend them enough! This is my new mechanic should I need them again.

I had a great experience at A-1. I needed my transmissions fluid replaced and they did it quickly and for a great price. I appreciated how the service manager Bryan explained to me what was going to be done, then also explained other maintenance things I should think about as my car gets older. He knows a lot about Honda cars and shared good tips with me about how to keep mine going for a long time. He didnt try to push any extra services on me and I appreciate the honesty and integrity that I felt from him and his staff! I will definitely be back.

Weve been using A-1 for years. After a series of unfortunate experiences with an honest auto repair shop we found A-1. They are thorough, friendly, economical, never do unnecessary repairs, and most of all...HONEST! They are like the old neighborhood garage of the past with up to date technology. AAA, BBC recommended... You cant go wrong at A-1 and they wont go wrong for you.

I took my car to this place to fix. They did a good job. My car run well now. In addition, they are very honest. The proof is that in the beginning they estimated more stuffs needed to be fix but later they charge me less than the amount they estimated since it turned out there were less things needed to be done.

I couldnt be happier with the service at A-1. They are great about telling me honestly what my car needs, and what I can wait on - I never feel pushed to proceed with a service. They are speedy and do a great job, my car always comes out looking and feeling a million times better than when I brought it in. All of the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. Im not from the area and my car broke down unexpectedly while visiting. Despite having a full day, when I called and told them of the issues I was having they encouraged me to still come drop my car off as soon as possible so at the very minimum they could inspect it and I could have a reference point for when I returned home. Within a few hours they were able to inspect my car and diagnose it. The staff answered all my questions, big and small. Their prices were fair and affordable and even got my dads thumbs-up (who is a mechanic himself) when I showed him the diagnostic and the receipt. I was very lucky to have had their expertise and their team so I could safely continue my trip in Portland!

The folks here have been helping me and my family with our vehicles for it least five years and every time they have been stellar. They are honest, they dont string you along, theyre nice as hell, and they follow up after they give your vehicle back to make sure your satisfied and the fix actually solved the problem. I have had them diagnose engine trouble, replace engines, solve break issues, and diagnose and solve electrical issues. Each time they exceeded expectations, charged a reasonable rate, and checked the vehicle over at no cost to let me know of things to keep on my radar. I cant recommend this outfit enough.

I found my mechanic in SE Portland! Something felt off with my ride so I took it in. They took a look and charged a fair price for the assessment, turns out it was a simple and inexpensive fix, and they did a great job. I totally trust these guys from here on out.

The tensioner to my Dodge Ram 2500 broke and the Serpentine belt went with it. I called Brian at A1 and he told me to bring it in, although it looked like it was going to be too busy a day for them get a chance to look at it. Well, once I had it towed there, they looked at it right away. In fact, they squeezed me in and had a new part and belt put in within a few hours and I was on my way home.This is just one of many positive times they have helped me with my truck and my wifes Toyota. Brian over there was really nice, spent about 15 minutes giving me costs and options for some repairs and maintenance I’m looking to have done, without any commitment. Definitely knew my truck, seems very knowledgeable, but just being treated nice is enough for me to give them my future business.

A1 is my familys de facto auto repair shop. Even though I live out of state now, theyre still my first choice. This weekend while I was visiting I had some electrical trouble which they resolved same-day! All around excellent, reasonably priced service, friendly staff, I cant recommend them enough.
