First time in, I absolutely love it here! Takes a few minutes to get your bearings as the layout of the building is kind of funky. Was very impressed with the selection. Staff seemed nice and helpful when asked for assistance. They leave you to it unless you ask for help it seems, which is how I prefer it so no complaints there. I will definitely be back’

Right from the moment you walk in they make you feel like a number not a customer. They are checking you off like a concentration camp as you walk in. My son needs to use the bathroom. And of course its blocked off. One guy walking around telling two people to lift up your mask higher because he can see your nose. I understand there are restrictions but this place makes you feel like a hospital room. I bought my over-priced paper and got out. I could not get out of there any faster. I thought it was just me being a Karen but the rest of my party felt the same way. Thank god there is Amazon from now on.

The store has less items since the last time I went there, probably because of Coronavirus. However, the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. I was super excited that the Plus Plus came in different color variations in tubes.

Very good. Staff were friendly, courteous and helpful.If memory serves me, this is the 3rd location that Artist & Craftsman Supply has had. I began shopping with them back in the 80s and I have typically found whatever it was that I was looking for.Could the prices be lower? Of course they could be. I checked out the Copic Markers and the set they have is $300.⁰⁰ while the same set on Amazon is $145.⁰⁰. I understand that they need to make a profit, but sheesh! I still go there anyway, but I have to admit that those big items just arent in my price range. Honestly, even the $145.⁰⁰ isnt in my price range. They are markers. Thats all.To everyone reading this I do recommend Artist & Craftsman Supply. The staff deserve all the support we have to give.

This store is essential to my business! I’m an old-school sign painter, and they have a good stock of the supplies I use. The staff is knowledgeable, and efficient. Their COVID-19 protocols are first rate.

Excellent, like walking around inside of an art supply catalog, except you can see the item features like size, weight, desirability etc. The staff is both helpful and knowledgeable. Most prices are reasonable and best of all you walk out with exactly what you needed right in your hands.

This store has everything for an artist. The variety is a bit overwhelming, but the prices are competitive with online stores and the staff is great.

Love this place, as an artist it is my go to place to get all the art materials I need for my illustration work, and if I feel like indulging in my other hobbies such as sculpting, wood carving, resin casting and needle felting they have it all! This is my all-time favorite art store! It has everything Im looking for whenever I need it. From spray paint to screen printing to just basic drawing utensils they have it. They even have fun stuff that is creative for kids. They have student grade they have professional artist grade. If youre a painter they have Paints, canvases, wood blocks. They even do framing. Anytime I need paper I go immediately there. They even offer a student discount! They also have New Deals and sales running all the time for certain brands or materials. The staff is always very friendly and knows exactly what you might. You can be talking about a certain project or what youre hoping for from an art supply and theyll be able to find it and explain what it is to you. I need a good art supply fix I always go to artists and Craftsman.

My favorite art store ever. The staff is SO friendly, extensively knowledgeable and so un-intimidating to beginners in any medium. The prices/deals are wonderful and the store is packed to the brim with not only pretty much any art supply you can think of, but great gift-able items and cool trinkets too. They put bundles together for art classes and give great student discounts—just an example of one of the many aspects of the store that makes their support for any type of artist practically palpable from the moment you walk in. A type of place you can happily spend hours in, I really don’t go to any other store for my supplies.

Theyre always so nice and very helpful. Everyone has a pretty good handle on the products and offer great advice and tips on what to use if youre not sure. I go here exclusively and cant imagine finding a more well-stocked place to get my art supplies. As a graphic novelist i go through tons of markers and know i can always come here when I need it!

I just moved to Portland and this place was recommended to me, and I couldn’t have been happier! I stopped temporarily by on an errand and IMMEDIATELY came back the next day. Lays out their prices so you know what deals your getting, wonderful staff, and their array of stock from brands to supplies is unbeatable. Will be back soon!

My girlfriend at the time wanted to broaden her crafting horizons, so I followed her around while in the span of about ten minutes and five aisles decided to start painting, then it was learning to cross-stitch, then maybe drawing, then crocheting...In the end she bought a picture frame.And I found these amazing glow in the dark cats 🐈

A&c is one of those places where we are fortunate to have around. There are lots of hobby style arts stores around, but A&C definitely caters to serious and aspiring artists. They have an incredible selection, and very fair pricing.

The staff were lovely and though the store is mostly dedicated to various paints, there was still shelves dedicated to other hobbies. The atmosphere was pretty neat too.

I found this supply store about two years ago and was shocked how much they fit into this space. Helpful and knowledgeable staff and pricing at or better than average. Skip the big retail chains and give artist and craftsman a shot, you wont regret it.

Beautiful store, even though floor is unique. An incredible variety of products, anything and everything I could ever need housed in one store. Great prices on everything, they display the regular retail price that something would usually go for, and the lower price that they offer.

Great art store!

This place is amazing! It has high quality items and so many things to get! Theres a wide variety of things from painting easels to paper mache animals you can paint! The process are a little high, but they have never ceased to amaze me by hope well they work. I highly recommend going here next time youre in need of art supplies or just need something to do!

PSA: give yourself ample time to spend in this store. I foolishly thought Id pop in on the way to the airport to catch a flight, grab a couple of items, and have plenty of time to make my flight. This is a big store with a lot of merchandise, and I didnt have time to explore it as thoroughly as I wanted. However, Im giving it five stars because its laid out well, has good prices, amazing selections of supplies, and the staff was great. I was particularly happy with the variety of open stock colored pencils and watercolor pencils. The next time Im in Portland, Im going to take an entire afternoon here.

This is an artist/crafters paradise! They have everything you need and a ton of stuff you dont know you need, yet! The staff are always super friendly and knowledgeable, and its a fun place to bring my 10 year old son.

This place is amazing! All the sales help are artists or art students so they are very knowledgeable about the stores supplies and how to help you with ur project. And the store itself is huge with an enormous variety of top end to affordable art supplies. Once you check this place out youll never go to Michaels again!

Love this store. Besides a great selection, they have random BlueQ trinkets and gems like desktop drum sets. LOVE IT. Ive been here about 10 times and the staff is continually less than friendly, however. Thats why I didnt give it a 5.

If you are into hobbying this is the place for you it has everything from dont working 2 leather working to painting to airbrushing pretty much anything that requires even the slightest semblance of artistic talent also as an added bonus as far as I am aware of this is the only place in Maine with a substantial supply of Fountain Pen related items with the added bonus that they are all at reasonable prices

I love this store. I am a professional Graphic Designer/Illustrator amd aside from a few specialty items that I have to get online, these guys have almost everything that I ever want :-). The only problem with this store is that I take the bus and I get so sucked in to looking at stuff that I usually forget the time and miss my bus. Lol

Ive walked into Artist & Craftsman several times now with no other purpose than thinking I just need to do something new. On one occasion in particular, I was suddenly inspired to work with watercolor.Having come from a world of graphite and acrylics (never watercolors), I had no idea what I was looking for. To my surprise, the employee went out of his way to help me - giving me the scoop on how I could make out the best as a beginner as far as price was concerned.Not only that, but they MUST have the largest supply in all of Portland - the store is huge! If youre an established artist or just dabbling in arts & crafts, theyll have what you need!
