Excellent shop. They have a large variety of bulk herbs. They also carry incense, crystals, essential oils, and other sprays/lotions/etc. Shop is clean and staff is nice.

Such an incredible variety of herbs, they had everything I was looking for. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the Valerian Root and Mugwort I picked up.The owner was super helpful, gathered and weighted out what I needed. I will definitely return, and cant recommend this shop highly enough.

Super cute store, great prices for everything. While I know they can’t help their max capacity limit (2 people) it doesn’t make for a very good shopping experience knowing you’re holding people up so I’d recommend you know exactly what you need before coming. Employee never rushed me though, she was great. I’d also say it felt like a lot of things were ‘hiding’ it was hard to find some things, some were in low spaces behind things and hard to see unless you’re REALLY looking, which might be hard if you’re feeling pressured by the people outside. Although the quality and price of the items are great I would just recommend maybe ordering online.

She was rude the entire time. The man she was training had a wonderful and warm personality with a smile. I won’t be returning.

Clary Sage is awesome!!! They used to be my neighborhood herb shop. When I moved out to Washington County I still drive into Portland to shop there. The selection of herbs, incense, candles is top notch. During the pandemic I’ve made multiple online purchases. They’ve made it so easy to find their inventory online, pay online, and safely pick up at the store. They always hand write a thank you note on my bag. As a small business owner I know it is no small task to “pivot” with the pandemic. Getting an entire inventory online is a thankless task that takes countless frustrating days/weeks. This is my favorite place to buy bulk herbs and tea and I often go there for last minute gifts. Ive bought rose buds and hips from many shops around the city, but clary sage easily has the best and most consistently available for my needs. their incense and golden tea mix are my favorites. the staff is super helpful too and dont get spooked or act condescending when I ask a bunch of follow up questions.I had to send a gift to someone but because of covid restrictions wasnt able to browse. I reached out with some guidelines, specific requests and a budget and someone at the shop helped me pick out some stuff and they shipped it for me! I was already a regular, but now theyre stuck w me for sure

Since they said I can nit use my earned coupon online or the one day Inwas in Portland from out of state.

Did not feel welcomed at all. Its a nice shop I went there for white sage to clear my home. However the staff member that helped me did not greet me at all. When I had called about an item and traveled 40 minutes to get it they did not have what I called about and she did not offer to look for more. When people who came in as I was leaving they were very warmly offered tea I was not. Very clearly she did not like me and the contrast was hurtful. I had just got off work it was not that she was having a bad day in general it was that she treated me very coldly but the folks who were wearing trendy clothes were treated great. I think if you are a blue collar guy or person this shop will treat you coldly.I was treated so coldly hear I am still bothered by it the next day. I used to come into shops like this in my youth and I had always found the people who worked in little shops like this so happy and welcoming that was the experience I was expecting so I think it hit much harder than it normally would have.

Clary sage has been my go-to herb and magic shop for several years and i can‘t recommend them enough. the owner even has her own line of tinctures, teas, and sprays called “two spirit medicinals” that literally get me through my day no matter what i’m facing—they are extremely well-crafted medicine. since covid, the staff has pivoted to online ordering and contactless pickup, which i have found extremely easy and safe to navigate. i know you can still go in as well, and i’ve heard that also feels very safe. please keep supporting clary sage through 2021 and beyond, they are an essential part of portland and we need them to remain!!

Sweet little herb shop with a twist of new age witch. They have much to satisfy the novice to advanced herbal medicine maker. I used to love the witchy spiritual vibe, but these days I feel its become a bit exclusive & often feel like Im bothering the staff in some way.

Great little herb shop packed full of all kinds of tinctures and oils of medicinal plants. They also have bulk dried herbs available. Theyre always really nice and last time I was there they poured me a cup of tea to have while I browsed all their medicinal plant oils.

What a pleasent surprise! Firstly. The energy of this store was fantastic the second I walked in. The woman behind the front desk was more than happy to help with whatever I needed, and made my experience that much better. She answered all of my questions, and helped me bag my various herbs. The had a plethora of herbs to choose from at great prices in the area, and I will be back to buy more!

Clary Sages new location is bright and airy with plenty of room for all their herbs, candles, gifts and books. The staff are kind and have been very helpful when Ive asked questions about herbs. I appreciate that its a Native-owned business and that Ive had thoughtful conversations with the staff about why the store doesnt carry Palo Santo and how they source their crystals.

I love Clary Sage! The herbs are organized and labeled with care, the in house tea blends are crafted with great intention and the shop is cozy! I came in to grab quite a few herbs close to close and the person helping me was still very patient and kind even though I was cutting it close to the wire of closing time. I work retail and know how stressful it can be to have a last minute customer and was so thankful to be treated with grace and compassion as I fluttered about collecting my herbal supplies! It’s true the shop is small and can get busy, but there’s always so much to look at and enjoy as you wait, I don’t mind “waiting” at all! Plus the staff do work through lines efficiently while still giving their full attention to the folks they are helping. This is a truly magical shop (in every sense of the word) and I find the prices to be very fair, especially because I know all the thought and care that goes into them choosing their sourcing ethically. That’s saves me time and research! Knowledgeable staff, great products, a very well cared for shop!

Small, cute. I wasnt a huge fan of the three teas I picked, I was hoping for a bit more flavor but maybe I chose less bold ones. The person who helped us was very nice and helpful and the selection of herbs and teas was huge! Also seemed affordable to me.

This current lockdown due to Covid-19 has resulted in me having to homeschool my fourth grader while working from home. I had heard diffusing clary sage oil could help with concentration among other things we were struggling with. I found this shop online and was pleasantly surprised to see how reasonable the prices were in comparison to other oil brands. I called to put in an order and have it shipped to my house. The woman I spoke with was very kind and helpful. She quickly sent me an email where I could pay online and was able to get it out in the mail that day. I ordered it on Friday and got it on Saturday. Talk about speedy service. The box even had a hand written “thank you, Crystal” on it. I was very impressed and plan on shopping here for any oils I need in the future. Hopefully next time I can visit in person. 😊

I needed an herbal remedy for my daughter and I didnt know where to begin. The ladies in the shop hooked me up with an amazing tea that has helped my daughter a great deal. They have an excellent assortment of loose herbs, teas, and essential oils.

Awesome selection of ritual candles, incense and herbs (holy moly the herb selection!), but it was not the most welcoming environment. I was not greeted when I came in the door (other people that entered after me were and it was not a very busy day) and the tarot cards that were on display had some weird energy attached to them. I felt like I was in someone else space and that I needed to be quiet. The girl behind the desk never acknowledged my presence, when I walked up to ask about the herbal teas and what was in them she said the ingredients were on the back in very dismissive tone. I brought a candle to buy to the register and there was no small talk, no nothing. Very bad first impression and I dont believe I will be back.

Unfriendly and inflexible with poor retail business sense! A friend of mine bought an expensive bottle of lotion for me as a gift. It was not a fragrance I cared for. After she presented it to me we decide to go back together after brunch to exchange it for something I would like and use. We were immediately told they do not do exchanges. That they are too small to do exchanges. They hummed and hawed and contemplated making a direct exchange with one other lotion option that was like the one that my friend had purchased just an hour before. It was not a scent I liked either. I really wanted some soaps rather than lotion and they again reiterated that they dont do refunds or exchanges. I told them that was absolutely ridiculous and walked out. They will never get my or my friends business again. They lost two customers over a $17 over priced bottle of lotion. Stupid.

It will take many many visits to actually see everything that is in the shop! Great selection of herbs and blends!

This place saved me. They are the only place in the city that have the hemp CBD capsules of the best quality. Ive also benefited from their herb blends and kind service. So thankful for this place!

The owner is so knowledgeable and helpful- I called to put in a last minute order for a white elephant party with the theme self care: I ordered a gift pack of various bulk teas for calm, relaxing, and a good menstrual cramp tea (all my coworkers are women.) It ended up being the most coveted gift and was traded over and over until the last person picked it! Beautiful vibe in the store as well.

I loved my visit to this herb shop. I just stumbled upon it as I was walking in the Alberta neighborhood and the smell of herbs was so nice as I walked down the little path to the store. The owners energy quickly drew me in and it felt like an enchanted time among customers who clearly frequented the place, as well as descriptions by Laurie of the different areas of the store. It felt like she was showing me her home. I left there feeling cared for and with a tincture that felt divined. I will definitely return to this sweet place.

I went to the shop to gather some herbs for a project I was doing. Everything was organized, labelled with Heath and spiritual descriptions. The customer service was warm, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. I will continue to get my herbs at clary sage. They are the real deal.

This shop is pleasant, however, I asked for a paper bag for my purchase of loose leaf white sage and the person put it in a non recyclable thin plastic bag. I find this use of environmentally degrading plastic appalling and hope that a shop providing medicine from the earth will choose a better alternative soon :)

The customer service is abhorrent. I went in with my two year old child and I was treated like a burden to society. There was absolutely no friendliness or helpfulness from the staff. They hovered over my daughter not alowing her to touch the gemstones in the bowls and didn’t accommodate to us in any way. I wasn’t able to comfortably look around and felt rushed. Dispite spending over $50 in the little time I was there I didn’t feel appreciated as a customer. I definitely will not be going back even though I would have been a regular customer because I love spending my money on that kind of stuff. I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.

I came in for the first and now only time to order eight items and a bottle of tincture. When entering the store I saw two other people besides the two clerks. One was on the phone and the other was being helped by a clerk. I went over to the tinctures as I knew what I wanted. The clerk behind the register helped me reach the Hawthorne I couldnt. As I thanked her the other clerk came to me and asked if I needed any help. I asked her if she could write down my list. To make it easy And i asked for all the same amount 4oz of each. Even though I didnt need that much of all the items. As the clerks were measuring my list I stepped to the side as two other customers came in as one left. At that time the clerk behind the register said that I had cut the customer who was in the phone off and said to that customer youve been here a long time. I was a little taken aback and stated that she was welcome to help the customer. She said well you were aggressive and we had to help you first. 😳😳😳 wow I spent $100.35 for my 7 items, they didnt carry psyllium; and was glad too but will NEVER be back. Im sure the business manners wont change here.

I love it here. I stopped going to the Herb Shoppe because i got tired of being ignored. The people at Clary were helpful and took care of me. I felt like i traveled back in time when i walked through the door. The shop was small but had an old time feel to it filled with so much product. I made one discovery after another. I wont buy herbs from any where else.

I’m a pretty big “first impressions last” type of gal when it comes to trying out a new Holostic shop. Here at Clary, my first experience was terrible! The lady behind the counter had the worst “snob tone” towards me and two other customers who entered the shop. The two were actually so repulsed they put their items down halfway through shopping and left.Moreover the counter lady spoke to me the entire time as if I did not know what I was looking for and as if I could not afford what I was purchasing. I almost left mid-packaging. Walking out the door, I had a feeling my end total was a bit high. I got to my car and added up the numbers on all my bags and items. The lady had overcharged me by nearly $40!! I do not recommend and will further my purchasing at another local shop I have had the pleasure of coming across.

When I went in to Clary Sage, my intention was to purchase a ton of dried herbs to start a home apothecary. There was no one in the store when I entered and I asked to get started. The lady told me at least 3 times she would have to stop and help someone else if anyone came in. She wasnt polite about it. Rather rude. She wasnt very helpful when I asked questions....although she seemed knowledgeable. I could have easily bought my herbs from mountain rose or bulk herbs, but I wanted to shop local. I ended up spending well over a hundred dollars on dried herbs, tinctures and a few other items. Unfortunately, with the way she treated me, I wont be back. Its unfortunate she was more concerned with a $5 purchase from a passerby (although no one bought a thing during the entire time I was in there...about 15 minutes) than my $100+ order. Sadly, I wont be back.

I love this place, but the process of buying herbs is a legnthy one. Although you can preorder ahead and have it all ready for pick up. It is very difficult getting around the store because of its size. Seriously, it has a capacity of at least 4-5 people, and thats not including moving around. So imagine if everyone is trying to buy stuff and each item needs to be hand packaged? Madness I tell you pure madness. Pre-packaging items would be awesome if they could do the research, or did bins and had labels already made so they could just weight it? Idk, Im not scientist, but something could be done. I literally tell every person I know about this place and they all love the store but do hate the process...

If I dont have to go here, I dont. Ive had two awful experiences with the staff here. I began going here years ago in search of Tamanu oil. A friend of mine highly recommended this place. I thought it was cute and quaint and I loved the energy. About a year and a half ago I made the long drive over from Beaverton. I had a long list of herbs that i wanted to get, and I needed more tamanu oil. There was a lady in that had no idea what she wanted, she obviously had no plans to go anywhere as she asked tons of questions and the lady running the place obliged her with long drawn out answers. I was never acknowledged until I began to pull herbs down that I wanted to purchase. I was then told by the clerk, very rudely, that I needed to wait, that I was not to touch the jars and that she would be with me when she was done with the customer that was there before me. I put the jars back and waited around for about 10 minutes. The other customer was still asking questions and had yet to pick anything to buy. I had my puppy in her kennel and she had begun to get loud, so I took her back to the car and sat for a few minutes in frustration-trying to decide whether it was worth going back in. I decided to give it another shot. I walked back in and another person had walked in before me. The clerk started in on me in front of everyone, saying, I thought your impatience had finally gotten the best of you. Didnt expect you to come back. Unfortunately you will have to wait until I am done with these other two customers. (The questions lady was still there-but the clerk had suddenly found the ability to help multiple people as she was helping the second customer now as well.) Her attitude towards me was so offensive. I was embarrassed by her and her words so i left without buying any herbs or oils. I decided to give Dragon Herbarium a try, since they are close to me. I spent $75 on herbs there. They had everything I needed except the Tamanu. I only returned to Clary Sage one other time. It was a few months ago and in its new location. I returned there because I had friends that wanted Tamanu mailed to them in Florida. There were two other customers. I knew exactly what I wanted. Grabbed the oil and stood there waiting to be checked out. One of the other customers stood waiting to check out as well. The clerk was engaged in conversation with someone and kept stopping to pet their friends dog. She eyed myself and the other customer but never said anything to us. I stood there for more than 5 minutes just waiting to pay. The customer before me looked at his watch, set his product on the counter and left in frustration. The clerk still did not move to ring me up. It was then I realized that the people she was conversing with werent even there to purchase anything, they were tourists that had just wandered in. Thats fine. Im all for being cordial and welcoming to tourists, but if youre the only clerk, you cant ignore your paying customers. She finally made her way to the register, said nothing to me, put her hand out for the cash I was paying with, I took my 5 bottles of Tamanu ($40 purchase) and walked out the door. I called the friend that had recommended them and told him what had happened. He confirmed that he had recently had similar experiences. Neither of us will be back, which is a shame because we both had verbally promoted this place for years with our friends and connections. Thankfully another place has started carrying Tamanu oil and carry anything else I may need.

Laurie at Clary Sage cured an cystic acne problem I had been battling for 15 years with her experience in tinctures. I had tried everything from Pro-Act to Antibiotics to Micro-dermabrasion therapy. None of them worked except for her blood-purifying blend of herbs and roots. I havent had any cystic acne in over 4 years thanks to Clary Sage!
