I am hard of hearing and I read lips. Even though I wear hearing aids, I still need lip reading and facial expressions to understand people. Masking for to COVID has made communication difficult for the deaf and hard of hearing. For me, mask straps rub on my hearing aids and cause a loud interference noise, and I can’t see facial expressions to try and *guess* what people are saying.I went in to exchange a defective pair of scissors at JOANN. I told the woman checking me out that I read lips and might have a hard time understanding her. She said something. I don’t know what it was but she shook her head. She was behind three-sided plexiglass barrier, so I said I could move back six feet if she wanted to briefly drop her mask when she spoke. Many people don’t mind doing that and it’s a game changer and I am always grateful. She continued to talk to me but I don’t know what she said. I’m guessing it was a no to dropping her mask just when she spoke.So I started to explain what I needed, thinking perhaps I could just do the talking. She continued to talk, even though I said “I don’t know what you are saying.”I suggested she write it down.She filled the back of a receipt with a helpful explanation, but when she was done, she shook out her tired hand, as if communicating in writing were a colossal annoyance to her.I suggested she could text out what she was saying if it would be easier for her. I got no response that I could tell.I asked a question, she wrote another answer, which was also helpful, but her body language and behavior made me feel she hated dealing with me and she still spoke between writing, so I missed a lot of things.She ended up walking away. I was guessing it was to get a return product but she never indicated. I waited, the line behind me growing longer, which made me feel worse. After a few minutes, another woman came back and started to write something down. I don’t remember what it was, but then the first woman came back and started talking. I said, for perhaps the fifth time, “I don’t know what you are saying.” She opened a new package of scissors and handed them to me. She had stopped writing things down at this point, if I remember correctly, so I just took them, trying to figure out exactly what she wanted me to do, and I put them in my bag. I said thank you, but I was absolutely confused, since I had lost orig. receipt and a straight exchange wasn’t what she had written would happen. I thought I would owe money.By now I was so frustrated and confused that I said something like “I just take them?” And I have no idea what she said, so I put them in the original JOANN bag I came with, said thank you, and walked out, feeling like I had done something wrong. Did I? I have no idea. I left feeling like I had. I was in tears before I got to my car.I wish people had more compassion for deaf and HOH during this time of masking. Your chance of catching COVID from behind three walls of plexiglass, while dropping your cloth mask for a few seconds at a time, while I step back and socially distance is very low. If briefly dropping the mask is not an option, and I understand that it isn’t for some, then don’t have an attitude about writing out your answers, and don’t keep trying to talk if the deaf person says they can’t hear you. I promise they can’t. Or be open to texting or using an app. Some companies have clear masks that they use when someone deaf or HOH comes in to their store, though I know that’s a reach and wouldn’t expect it.It’s already frustrating and embarrassing enough to need help communicating every time I go out in public, but this woman made things much more difficult. If I had been in a wheelchair and she had been as difficult as she was, it would have been on the news.My general takeaway from this frustrating experience is that the JOANN company doesn’t care much about training their customer service people to be kind to people with disabilities and is annoyed when I shop there. So I won’t anymore.

Great store to purchase and order fabric and craft items

After standing in line for 30 minutes. I watch 3 people walk out and a big dude says only one person can come in so like a gentleman I let the lady behind us go since I am with my wife. Again 2 people walk out and they only let my wife in but I have to wait. Then while waiting outside a Lady pulls up in the street and talks to a blonde lady from the store. The blonde lady helps her out on the road. The girl parks and passes the entire line and goes right in the door. How do I get the VIP TREATMENT?

Found exactly what I needed and it was on sale and it qualified for an extra coupon, yay🙂! Everything was well organized and easy to find. The staff was friendly and helpful as well and the lines moved quickly. 👍🏼

The line sometimes get long but thats because theyre always so kind, patient and informative at the register.

I went in for some fabric and two pillow-fill bags. Judi was very helpful and asked specific questions that helped me find exactly what I was looking for. I was very excited to recieve a small discount at the counter, when the cashier found that my teacher discount had expired. I had a great experience shopping at Joannes Fabric and found especially Judi to be very conscience and dedicated to assisting. I will be back again.

Great store with amazing deals

A lovely young woman named Vee was SO courteous, professional and helpful in answering our questions and helping us decide what we needed and how much. 5 stars for Vee. By the time we were finished choosing everything and ready to have the fabric cut, Vee was not there and we had the displeasure of dealing with another woman named Judy. I had observed her with other customers and she truly did not act like she wanted to be there. There were moments when she talked to customers including myself in an exasperated way, rolling her eyes and almost throwing up her hands in frustration when a simple question was asked or when someone could not hear her well or did not understand her well and she had to repeat herself. In an effort to diffuse things I even offered to put the bolts of fabric back for her stating that I knew they were tired and been on their feet all day and she replied no thank you they would do it. Perhaps she was just having a bad day or had had a long day. If that is the case, then another employee should be allowed to take over until shes able to take a break and pull herself together

I love this Joann! I usually come here to get supplies for cosplays/costumes, and many of the employees actually cosplay themselves as well, which makes it much easier to get the right fabric for the character my outfit is based on. The prices are fair, but the cashiers always seem eager to offer the best coupons to bring the price down which is very nice.

The store has a great variety of beautiful fabrics. Pat helped me today. She was helpful and knowledgeable on the different types of fabrics. I would definitely recommend!!

Everytime I go to a Joanns I am never disappointed. Plus, it was my first time going to the one located by The Broward Mall. I needed assistance finding specific items on my shopping list. There were only three attendants working in the store. Which were very helpful. During checkout the cashier who attended me at the register was very patient & understanding of my concerns towards my purchase. This location also contains items for fall decor which were quite creative. I would definitely recommend this JOANNs

This is the best JoAnn they have in south Florida, hands down. The staff is readily available to help, the selection is huge, and there is a ton of parking (especially if you park on the side of the store and not in front) I wish I had started at this location vs trying several others first. This is the only place left to get any real sewing Goods anymore. They have an amazing selection of fabrics, as well as threads to match them. They also have a lot of Notions and other things you will need for sewing. They have lots of yarn and other needlework items, and they have items for other crafts as well, including cake decorating, surprisingly enough! They also have a small selection of adorable decor! Just a nice store to go through.

The item had a sale sign but didnt ring up for the sale price. Manager Troy said that the sign had an end date on it and I couldnt get it for the posted sale price. He wouldnt honor the signs that they had posted all over the store.

I live on a very tight budget and shopping for crafting materials is very limited for me. Thanks to the wonderful salespeople at Joannes in Plantation, FL they turned a $28+ purchase into a $12.79 purchase with store coupons. I will definitely be back!

My kid had a social studies project, so we went to Joann Fabrics. We found everything we needed and so much more. Buttons, paints, and poster board. The staff was both helpful and knowledge. Also, Joann offers craft classes such as jewelry making and knitting. A over all outstanding experience.Mr. MT

I have shopped at this store many times. Today I went to cut a long piece of material. When I got there, there were no customers waiting. I explained I would like to use their table to make a cut. The first sales lady was very nice and said it was ok. Several customers came to the table so I moved the material to a corner out of the way. After the customers were helped the second sales lady asked if I needed help and I told her I just need to make one cut. So said I wasnt allowed, so I left. Not customer friendly so Hobby Lobby will be my store of choice.

I was in Johanna Fabrics today, and simply waiting to get fabric cut due an injury I was suffering. I didnt touch anything, no one was there, but the worker came over he said I couldnt sit there due to covid 19. He didnt have no signage up, sanitizer, and the area wasnt roped off. When I ask about his policy he simply ignored me.

I loved staying at Staybridge Suites, this is where I always stay when travelling to the United States. I love the happy hour Mon-Wednesday and the facilities.

The store is clean and organized. Staff if friendly and helpful. I found everything I was looking for. The app gives many different discounts, which I used at the check out. I highly recommend it for those who love crafts and other arts. Dont forget to check their discounts in the app.

My first experience buying something on line, thought I would pick up vs ship since I live so close. Even though they indicated that the order was ready they didnt have it, spent 20 min fumbling around until I got tired and picked up a comprible item. The price was great but dont think Ill try that again. Sales person was useless 2 stars for price only

The instructor was very nice. The classroom was comfortable. I did the beginner class. The crochet hook provided was not good so i recommend brinnging your own to class. I learned the chain stitch single crochet and double crochet.

I will never shop at this store again. While my boyfriend was shopping today him And a friend they were told that they had to leave because the manager (who did not want to come out because she was scared of the two black men) wanted them to leave. Lied and said they were causing trouble. The entire store including other employees had no idea why the manager made this call. Imagine if this manager would have called the police and lied like this. This review could’ve been completely different

They have some nice things but expensive and we cant never find help only in the sowing department and not so helpful they act like we disturbs them but they are not doing anythings. Pretty sad

There are awesome find if youre willing to look. Tip: someones is better to go for a fabric that isnt on sale that you can use a better coupon on, than one that is on sale

Terrible service. Every time I call over the phone, it rings for a very long time until somebody picks it up and hangs up immediately. I tried my luck and went to the store today... the male cashier was really nasty. I will never go back to that store.

Obviously the store is great but they should be more organized. There’s no point of having a whole section and parking spaces designated for store picks up if you have to wait in line with everyone else. Then I might as well just go in the store, grab my items, wait in line with everyone else and pay for them there 😁 there’s no incentive to buying online and picking up in store now is there 😊😊😊 😒

I love this place perfect for arts and crafts and to get some good Fabrics theyre a little bit pricey but not exaggerated either and the stuff is always very friendly and willing to help. Be careful though, they have so much cool stuff it makes you want to buy half the store :)

JoAnns is my go to store whenever i need fabric or art supplies fast. They have a large variety of fabrics such as cotton, fleece, knit, silky, and even bridal. Theres also red tag fabrics which are fabrics that are on sale. The Craft selection is pretty decent: canvases, paints, beading, floral, and more. Also if you have the app, theres usually coupons for 40 % off a regular priced item.

It was very clean,and new I found everything I wanted for a great price.Workers are also very nice,when I walked in I didnt know where to go so the told me the place and walked me there.

Everything for sewing is there. They have some cake decorating items as well. Neat and clean. Not friendly at all, but sometimes you want to shop in peace.

99.9% of the time, I have a good experience at JoAnn Fabrics. The store is always clean, restrooms spotless, and it is well lit, a must for a fabric store where the ability to tell a color is a MUST. Its one of the larger Joanns, so they have a large selection to choose from. I dont care if you are making selections for a quilt you are designing, making new drapes, or are sewing a bridal gown, you are bound to find what you are looking for. They also carry yarn, scrapbooking, food crafting, and floral supplies as well as holiday decorating items. With only one exception (and I am a very frequent shopper here) the staff is helpful and polite. If you plan on shopping here, be sure to get their app and put your name on their mailing list. Fabric has become quite expensive, but shopping with their sales that go from one brochure to the next and using their coupons really helps. The only suggestion that I could make, is that there be handicapped parking nearer the store, and that is probably the fault of the property owner that manages the parking lot. The nearest one is at the far end of the Dollar Tree, next door.

Took my wife to the Plantation Fountains location for a mothers day weekend shopping treat. Compared to Michaels, or even Super Walmart, JoAnn Fabrics selection of crafts supplies and plentiful bolts of fabrics, including many licensed fabrics, was impressive and a pleasant surprise. We will most definitely be coming back to this location in the future for all our create and fabric purchases.
