My partner and I came to Anchorage to give birth to our son, but we did not bring a travel bassinet with us for him to sleep in. So we looked up where to find baby things. We visited Once Upon a Child looking for sleeping arrangements for our little boy. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly! We were immediately helped and found a travel crib that is perfect for us since we live in a smaller village. We also learned that all the equipment is checked for recalls and has all the parts included. I feel really safe and happy knowing this. They also ship clothes and books anywhere in Alaska. Great store! Would recommend to families with little kids!

I have nothing but praise for this store. The staff has always been friendly, helpful, and welcoming. The space is very clean and the clothing they resell is excellent quality.I can usually sell about the half of what I bring in. For the folks saying they dont offer much for your used baby clothes - quite frankly, they dont. Its a consignment shop and they give you cash on the spot. This isnt the type of store you should be going to in order to make big money. I come here with the intention of buying baby clothing at a discount, and use the money they pay out to bring down the cost of my purchases.If you have realistic expectations and understand how consignment stores work, you wont be disappointed with Once Upon A Child!

Their employees stereotype and are EXTREMELY LAZY. Last time I checked the job descriptions of these types of employees probably involve putting things away which is simple and typically makes an 8 hour day go by faster but these ladies would rather stand around and push buttons on their phones. The female employee with black hair is always pleasant and worthy of working with the public. As for the others, the lazy manager included, I believe someone gave them a little too much power and its gotten to her lazy head. Get up and actually work folks. No one has a clue what good, quality customer service is and its getting ridiculous. The owner should be ashamed that hes got these jokers as employees and re-think his staff. Ive never been treated so poorly at any retailer in my life. Just in case he/she wasnt aware of their behavior when he/she is t around...ITS TERRIBLE!

They sometimes offer fair prices for your used stuff... depends who you get. They also have a decent selection of stuff for you to choose from.

Huge 2nd hand inventory. Good prices. Easy to access. Cashiier was fast and courteous.

Once upon a child refuses to allow those with a medical exemption to shop in their store.

My sole complaint is I feel *some* of the prices are a little high, but I’m also new to Alaska, so it could be an adjustment to me getting accustomed to the prices. Great friendly faces!

This place is amazing I got a whole cart full of toddler clothes and books for $40.00 and all the items are like new thank you so much as a single father I have to really have to be frugal with money and this place makes it easy. Thank you again...

I love shopping here! It’s my first go to place for all things kids and highly recommend it. I can buy $100 worth of clothes that would otherwise cost a several $100 elsewhere. I’d rather shop here than the mall, it’s (very organized) treasure hunting while saving big bucks. Clean & friendly customer service too.

Im very disappointed in this place. I brought in a bag of newborn clothing that was used just once and was very new! They took 15 items and only paid me 90 cents a piece. It was not worth the drive nor selling this place such expensive clothing. I would have rather donated it to someone who actually needed it. This place is a joke to sell your baby clothes.I doubt they even match the price to what it actually costs for each brand because the money I spent on those 15 pieces we not 90 cents each at the store.

This location is fairly COVID conscious with a requirement for masks, one way aisles, and hand sanitizer at the checkout.They have a good selection of baby clothes with some name brands like Halo sleep swaddles, magnetic me outfits, columbia winter gear, and more. They have short and long sleeved onesies for $1 each if you buy 10. Check the spot where they insert the tags-- I found several tags that left holes in the clothes I bought.I did not find receiving blankets, but I might not have where they are.

I think this place has a great selection of used and like new clothes for kids. I’ve had good experiences here. They sort through items fast. And I feel like they give you fair money for your items. Let’s face it these are USED kid items. For people that think all their USED stuff is worth millions, then this is not the place for you. Otherwise - take all your “in-season” and close to be in-season stuff here. Clean it up. Be selective. Don’t bring stained things. And try not to bring trash bags full of items...tacky. Fold it up and bring 2-3 bags.

I can usually find good deals, there is always a discount section.Prices on strollers, nursery items and toys are the best deals.I debated on 5 stars, the customer service isnt always the best, but it isnt rudeness, its just overly busy. Its tough when you want to checkout and staff is chit-chatting, though, so I opted for 4.I do recommend shopping here, items are of good quality for the price.

As always the staff is very helpful and respectful. The store is very clean. The prices are fair.

Great place to buy second hand clothes for the kids

This is the best place for baby and kids stuff. They have a great selection, and the best prices. It just makes sense to buy and sell since kids grow and change so fast! Also my son loves to checkout the toys while I look for his clothes.

Customer service is bad. I agree with many of the reviews. Staff was completely rude. Will not come here again. I had over $500 worth of items in almost new condition and they offered $70. The explanation was we can only offer half on equipment items. So how does that math add up?! When i sounded surprised staff made a snarky comment . I’d rather donate. I wanted to support a local business but staff was rude. Do not recommend this place at all!

Very polite and respectful. I bought an item that was on the recall list. Called and the told me to come in for full refund! Store is a tad cramped and one aisle wasnt stroller friendly due to the legs of some baby stuff sticking out.

I hadnt been in since the remodel and upgrade. I was impressed with the ease of dropping off items and receiving money for the items sold. Super easy and I got more money than expected. Great customer service too!

My first time visiting this place. When I first walked in, it was a bit overwhelming. A lot of CLOTHES. But it is as organized as they can get it. And the staff was VERY helpful and friendly.

For customers looking for used but quality items for kids, a good place to go on a limited budget, if youre a a seller and want to get rid of your kids clothes dont look that much of a return. For items that retail for $10, expect an offer of $2 to $3 each item.

I like the prices. I like the selection of goods as well. But, the toys are a mess and to go through it all and find something particular is hard work. They do have good selection and prices though. I sold to them, I brought in only things in excellent condition because of season they only bought winter. I did not get much but I did not mind because my son has out grown these clothes. Also, since I used the money I made in the store I got a coupon towards goods! The staff was kind but could work on a greeting Welcome to Once Upon... I will go back! I find the things I need at reasonable prices!

Once Upon a Child usually has great sales! The store has just about everything a mom (or dad) could need for their kids (in terms of clothing).

I always find what Im looking for and more. Never more than one person in line to check out. The staff are very kind (dont mind) about little kiddies skipping around and having a good time with all the toys. They even have a little play area for them!

This place is a nice option for used Kid clothes. I often do not find what I am looking for. My little guy likes sweatpants not jeans. They rarely take my sweatpants that have been outgrown and are still in good shape. I had a pair from Crazy 8 that had barely been worn and they refused them. That part is frustrating because If I could find sweat pants it would be nice. They do have a lot of jeans.

Bought my baby clothes for good fair selling price! And I got to buy clearance baby boy clothes for my nephew for $1 each :)when I get to meet him hell be stylin in his cute little outfits! Very cool store and affordable for everyone.really awesome

They employees there were very friendly. I was able to get quite a few good pieces of clothes for my son who had a HUGE growth spurt. When money is tight Once Upon A Child has always been a place for me to get nice clothes for my kids.

I like this place, what it does, and how it goes about it. I would give 5 stars but the customer service is lackluster to bad. However, if you need cheap clothes for your children or to get rid of outgrown clothes for them, this is the best place to go.

They have an overwhelming selection of baby, toddler & small children clothing. They do not have bibs. Its like an expensive thrift store for gently used items of children and babies.

Stopped by here to look for a used stroller. I picked up a nice Eddie Bauer stroller for 35 bucks. Clothes are nice and the pricing is very good.

Selling is useless. Ive had new things with the tag on never worn and they offered very little. With the prices that they are selling the used items/new used items I feel they are charging too much. I would rather donate any of my childrens clothes vs selling them to this store which I ended up doing. ABC pregnancy and the womens shelter was were they went.

When I visit, it never fails that I find something I want to buy!

Good childrens clothing. I was disappointed when I went to exchange my gently used clothes though... They wouldnt except most of them and what they did except they gave me very little for.

So much to choose from boys and girls infant -toddler clothing up to little kids and kids sizes large selection in each size only carries kids ITEMS toys gear nursery feeding clothes furniture you name it more geared towards high 3nd items priced at a discounted price as they are naught used. The owner of the store is mean (even the way he treats his staff). The environment is POOR and TRASHY. All the staff there are lazy and unorganized. They do rip off on new stuff others sell to them. There was this lady who was a buyer there, she had some really bad attitude, and I dont know why they dont fire her. Ive been there many times with my girlfriend because she shops there when they have sales going on. But to me, I will never go there or sell there, only because my girlfriend shops there sometimes. Even the line is long. It took forever for them to finish my girlfriend sale. The place needs a new manager and new buyers with better attitudes who treats there staff and customer nicely.

They dont really take much you bring to sell, If its not pristine name items iv notice they dont even offer cheap. That being said they do have a nice variety of items they are willing to sell you for babies, toddlers, and little children.

I went when it was 50% off. Got a tummy time mat for my daughter for$5.00s! They employees were very nice and helpful.

Buying clothes is easy, prices are decent. Selling is useless though, at the prices they offer I feel better off just donating them.

Great staff and good selection of kids clothes. The have $1 days and specific items. I needed 1 size 4 girls jackets and ended up with 2 jackets and a bike.

Went in today to drop off my sons clothes. Came back I was told to rewash the clothes because of hair. They were freshly washed and dried before going in a box and coming into the store. Upon returning home I found two hairs about a foot in length each in the entire box of clothes. I nor my son have long hair. Not only a tremendous waste in time but I noticed the entire box wasnt gone through.

Clothes are way cheaper than fred Meyer, toys r us, etc, and the sales are even better. Some larger items like toys and furniture feel pricey for the used condition, but there are lots of opportunities for bargains.
