I have used the transmission shop twice in the past 5 years and this past experience was even better than the first. The dealership told me I needed a new transmission or to have mine rebuilt. I took it to the transmission shop for a second opinion and turns out I was low on fluid, needed a flush and filter and a brake switch. They saved me so much money and were honest from the start. Cant thank them enough for the fast honest service. Would definitely recommend.

My 2018 Jeep Compass had been acting up. It would stall on the road, I’d had a couple of people look at it and they all said to take it to the dealership. Well, I did and they wanted to charge me almost $1,000 “just to begin.” Well we found out it was a battery issue to begin with, my boyfriend and I just bought batteries for the car & starter and had a mechanic friend change it out, spent about $300. Now for The Transmission Shop- once we had the battery issue taken care of, my car would still act up, and I have a 4 year old so of course it’s an issue that needs to be fixed ASAP. I got an oil change and they connected my car to the computer which generated 2 codes which were both transmission-related. I decided to search transmission shops and found this place, it had good reviews so I called. From the very first phone call, Julio was very kind, told me to bring my car in so they could take a look. Kept my car overnight, tested it, also diagnosed it, and told me the issue. I do have to go back to the dealership because it’s a computer/system update that my car needs, but it’s covered by the warranty so it shouldn’t cost me anything. (Remember, dealership was trying to charge a ridiculous amount before). Julio even printed out the paperwork that explained the issues, and he didn’t charge me a penny! If you are looking for honest, kind people to work on your vehicle, this is definitely the place. I’ll be recommending them to friends & family, and if I ever do have mechanical transmission issues, I will be going here!

Originally had a review for a different place sure up here (and got a light-hearted response from the owner) but this place definitely deserves a 5-star review. If particular not is the fact that, unlike the dealership, they dont charge you a couple hundred bucks just to see whats wrong with your car. They quickly assessed what was wrong and gave me a reasonable quote for repairs and multiple options. I also like the fact that they didnt pressure me to make a decision right away. This is certainly the place you want to go if you need some honest professionals to tell you whats wrong with your car. Hands down would 10 out of 10 recommend this shop to anybody located in the Dallas Fort Worth area. I recently had some performance modifications done to my vehicle and my tuner stated that my lagging issue was possible due to my transmission fluid being low. Took my car in with no appointment and the guys literally walked me through the process of checking my fluid step by step, even allowed me to video them checking the fluid only to find out that my fluid was full and good! These guys are true experts and super professional! Love it! Now I have supporting evidence that my transmission is fine with video proof and that it’s obviously the tune I received.

Julio and the crew did a excellent job. They got my truck in and out in a Couple of days!. The short story, is the guys at the Transmission Shop are awesome!Long story is that I came to them with a very non-standard transmission problem. You see, the Truck is a 1946 Ford ½ ton pickup with a NON stock drivetrain (i.e. a complicated mess).Its a Ford truck with a Small block Chevy V8 from a 1960 Bel Air, a transmission from a 1988 C1500 Truck with custom crossmembers and mounts, the pressure plate and clutch are from a 1993 Chevy Pickup, a custom clutch system with a Wilwood Master Cylinder and a dorman Slave cylinder, a Core products short throw long arm shifter, a custom drive shaft.. etc. The point is, this is not your average production vehicle. In addition, it’s been in the family for as long as I can remember and this is the first time the truck has been left in the hands of anyone other than my father and I.I was nervous, but Julio the store manager and Mike the owner were great people first and foremost. They put me at ease. The whole team is top notch, honest and up front. They worked hard to resolve an issue with 4th gear in my gearbox (kept popping out on deceleration). One of those weird problems that sometimes does not make sense. Tom sorted it out, and solved it.I have 450 miles on it already and no issues! I don’t do many reviews, but have to for these guys. Great group of skilled mechanics. As for Julio...he was very friendly and understanding of my situation. I had to revisit The Transmission Shop chain to correct an issue with an older Toyota Sequoia; this time I went to the Plano, TX, shop due to the workload in Garland. The shop manager, Julio, shuffled other vehicles in order to get the SUV problem investigated and repaired in a very reasonable amount of time. It turned out the problem was not directly associated with the first visit, but was covered under the 3 year warranty. I was very happy with this shop, especially Julio. His background and knowledge of transmission systems is impressive. On a side note, he was able to lead me in a better direction for a separate Chevy Z71 Transfer Case problem, which is helping a lot. The Transmission Shop chain remains my go-to choice for any vehicle “drive” issues, and has my highest recommendation for quality transmission work.

These guys know their stuff. I took my truck in to them after a Ford Dealership could not diagnose the problem I was having. They immediately knew what it was, and explained to me what was causing the random limp mode on my truck. They fixed the issue, which was being caused by my transmission, and I had them replace my diff bearings as well, and they did it all for an incredibly reasonable price. These guys are not only professional, but also friendly and knowledgeable about everything they service. I wouldnt hesitate to take my truck back in to them, for any future problems I have.

Had 2 separate automotive shops tell me that a clinking sound under my Chevy Silverado was a “bad flywheel” and would require dropping the transmission, costing over $1,000 to “fix”.So I decided to bring it to an actual transmission shop that I have done business with in the past. Turns out it had nothing to do with the transmission, but the starter that was bad. $450 later, no more noise and I can’t say enough about the integrity. Since I was prepared for the bigger expense, they could’ve just as easily charged me accordingly and I’d have been none the wiser.I highly recommend The Transmission Shop in Plano!!!

My initial review several weeks ago was five stars and Im confidently keeping it at that. After originally getting my daughters 08 Jeep Wrangler back after a rebuild, additional problems cropped up. The job became one of those, as an apparently defective part in the rebuild caused additional issues. It was frustrating for us and, I know, for Julio and his team, too. But through it all, we were treated fairly and with respect and the Transmission Shop stood by their work. I find the best measure of a person or company is not how they are when things go sailing along smoothly but how they are when problems arise. The Transmission Shop handled our repairs with determination and professionalism and made sure the work was perfect and we were satisfied.

I called Julio at the Transmission Shop to see if they could check out my transmission after the Cadillac dealership told me I needed a new transmission, about $8,500. He told me up front that he was going to check it out and let me know what, if anything, he had to do. After a few hours he let me know that there was nothing wrong with the transmission and that it was most likely an engine problem. He did this and DID NOT CHARGE ME ANYTHING!!!!! The Cadillac dealership charged me $170.00 and didnt check my transmission or anything. I would HIGHLY recommend Julio and the Transmission Shop if you have any transmission problems or think you do.

It’s always anxiety inducing bringing your vehicle to a shop - hoping that you can trust an honest assessment from an expert. I felt some delayed shifting in my 1976 Ford Bronco. These guys invested an hour on my truck for no charge, gave me a clear understanding of any concerns, pointed out a minor leak (150 dollar estimate for repair), but gave it a clean bill of health overall. They easily could have said that work needed to be done.

This shop was recommended to me by my auto mechanic shop, The Golden Rule, in Rowlett Tx. They told me to talk to Julio and he would take care of me. I did and he did. Great, honest shop. After I called them to tell them what my issue with my Jeep was, he told me to bring it down and he would give me a free diagnostic just so I had an idea of what was wrong with it. The minute I dropped it off, the tech took my keys and went to test drive it to start the diagnostic immediately. Tommy called me a few hours later and told me that my issue wasnt my transmission, but a bad sensor, and referred me to another mechanic shop close by. These guys really know what they’re doing. I’ve had three jobs done on three different vehicles over the past 4-5 years. Two of the jobs had problems with the transmissions or transfer cases that were diagnosed and fixed with a reasonable amount of down time and cost. The other one was too damaged to repair and I sold the car. They’ve given me straight up honest assessments of the parts and labor for the work to be done and then fixed it.

The Transmission Shop at 1508 N. Central Expressway, Plano, TX was an outstanding experience for a person from out of town. I had a transmission failure and being from out of town, it was an uneasy feeling to pick a shop to look at the trouble; finding someone honest. I was referred to The Transmission Shop in Plano from my regular repair shop because they indicated The Transmission Shop could replace my transmission cheaper than they could. During my initial call with them they gave me an estimate that ended up being very accurate to my final cost and was much cheaper than my regular repair shop. That first transmission I had them do is still in operation three years later in my Ford Escape. I just recently had my second transmission for another car installed by them about 3 months ago. Had an issue a couple weeks ago but they covered the repair under warranty with no issues. They were again very good on the price and have been very easy to work with.

After a horrible experience at another shop, these guys were a god send. Did a complete rebuild for half the price of the other guys and had me up and running in no time at all. I went in today, and I talked to Alan the manager, he was so nice, honest and cool. I told him that I had a transmission mount bolt thread that is stripped inside the transmission and the mechanic checked the threads inside the transmission then, Alan went in the back and asked him “Is it stripped badly?”. The mechanic said to Alan “No, he still has some threads in the transmission”. Next, Alan came back and let me know that he said, to me it’s my lucky day that the mechanic was able to fix it for free. I just had a stripped bolt that is completely damaged I was so happy he was able to fix it. Thank you, Alan the manager and your mechanic you guys do an awesome job fixing my transmission mount bolt. If I had a bad bolt loose like that again I will come to this place.

Had my 2003 Chevy Express van repaired at The Transmission Shop in Plano with 3 years parts and labor warranty. The transmission required a complete rebuild and the leaking seal replaced. Have driven it for a couple of days. Transmission appears to be good as new. The shift problems it had in the higher gears disappeared and remaining gears kept working. So far so good. Thank you

This location is a hit or miss with making a decision by the reviews. A lot have been satisfied customers and a lot werent. I follow right behind the not so satisfied customer. We were quoted a price and arrived with a different price and at that, received no calls about the additional work that was done. Was contacted about the truck being ready, but still did not speck about the additional charges on top of what was quoted. Transmission started to smoke while my workers were out doing a move. This happened after a week from picking up the truck. Weve been going back and forth with this shop and still has nothing resolved. Make sure you know who you are talking to and verify and document all that is being told and paid for. This is not a trustworthy shop and I would not recommend anyone here. Please trust your reviews.

This is the second time I have been to the transmission shop, and it’s the second time I have been extremely impressed with their service. These are people of their word and I encourage anybody to check out this fine business ran by fine people.

They did an awesome job. Towed my truck to the shop on a holiday weekend at no charge. Diagnosed the issue and repaired my transmission in two days. I normally do not take the time to write a review but felt compelled to do so in this case so that others would know they are truly experts and also very reasonably priced.

Alan, is a super helpful guy. He first did my sons front diff at great price and turned it on 24hrs. A few weeks later my another sons transmission went out. He gave a great price and fast turn around. He even did the rear main seal while he had the transmission out. Thanks a lot. I will be back

Would recommend The Transmission Shop for anyone that has a transmission that cratered on them. Tom was a good guy to deal with, and told me the initial cost up-front my out-of-pocket expense so I wouldnt have that initial sticker shock. Unfortunately, it turned out I had more issues with the transmission that expected and it cost me an extra $1000, but they fixed/repaired those issues also (new radiator, (which the old one was apparently clogged and the root of my problem (x-mission fluid over-heated) and some other things. The only problem that really came up (and by no fault of The Transmission Shop) was that they couldnt get a core the first two times around, the 3rd time was the charm, so that just put getting the job done almost a week out of the projected date. All-in-all, a solid 4 stars and I would recommend them to anybody.

Came in for a free transmission seal leak check on my Toyota Camry. The Dealership had told me the seal was leaking and showed me a photo. I brought it into Tommy at the Transmission Shop...he had Mario check it out...There was no leak anywhere in the transmission. Toyota had wanted to charge me $1400 to fix the leak...I was happy to hear there was no leak...These guys are good and they are honest...They get any future work I need done.George

I hate to give anyone a bad review, but the conduct here was so bad it must be shared with future customers. Five minutes after my car was brought into the shop for a transmission oil change, Tommy told me there was bad news with my transmission. He took me out to the car and showed me fresh bright green oil on the transfer case. Told me the transfer seal was out and it would be @ $1000 for the repair. As I had only brought the car in for routine maintenance and had not experienced any problems with it. It was certainly a surprise to me. I took the car to my regular mechanic who put it on a lift and he found only a small seep in the transmission gasket, far from the transfer case. Nothing leaking from anywhere else. There was no fresh green oil on the transfer case. My mechanic doesnt perform transmission services on my German car. Next up was Eagle Transmission on Coit Rd. Again, they cleaned off the transmission, ran the car and found a small seep in the gasket, no transfer case leak. Did a transmission service, replaced the gasket and filter and replaced the fluid. Saved me hundreds of dollars. Do your research and dont be afraid to ask for a second opinion. By the way, the transmission oil on my car is red, not green. To the owners response of not finding me on your list. My parents taught me how not to let people take advantage of me. of course Im not in your list, I took the car to someone reputable.
