This is more of a review for Scag than the store. I purchased a new Scag Patriot 3 yrs ago. Was in the shop several times right off the bat for electrical issue. Then literally a couple months after warranty expires, carburetor breaks and deck bearings bad. I went with Scag due to their reputation of being a solid high quality mower. I don’t think they’re any better than a much cheaper Lowe’s mower that costs 3/4 the price.
I’ve came in for parts a few times and the guy at the counter was really friendly!
Plainfield equipment is a solid business that takes care of their customers. This is not a big chain hardware store. Ive had some issues with equipment. Thats not their fault. They have made it right every time. Its cost me a time or two but all good. When ive been in a bind they have taken care of it . They follow up . Great business! I will buy all my home equipment from them. I dont have to go through a corporate business warranty on line. I talk to them. Appreciate Plainfield equipment!
Ive been doing business there for many years. I have never been disappointed. Spent some money today. Bought a pole saw.
Crooked alert!!!!!! Are used to do a lot of business with this place years ago but in the past I took a 046 Magnum change Saul in there to have a new Heli coil put into the cylinder. This is over $1000 chainsaw. I picked it up and they didn’t even try even starting and making sure it was functional.😮 The guy at the counter told me that the guys and back did not really know what they were doing and it did not work. So they ruined my chainsaw and did not want to replace the cylinder or make things right but still charged me. I would give This place of business a -5 stars if I could. Still have not made things right and they have my contact information and it’s been quite some time. It’s called integrity.It’s funny inconvenient that you say there is no record of me I only bought stuff from there for years. I still remember the guy that told me at the counter which I believe may have been the owner son said they didn’t really know what they were doing back there he admitted that they screwed it up himself. This is Plainfield equipment in Plainfield that did this. It’s easy to cover up your tracks but I have not forgotten

Several Years ago. We ordered a reverse till tiller by Woods. Went picked it up got home realized it was not the model we ordered took it back same day never even in the dirt. Rex Jr. proceeded to berate us and question us when it was clear the model number was different than the one on the invoice (the model invoiced and paid for was several hundred dollars more) and refused to admit we got the wrong model. Only fixed the problem several days later after we contacted the Woods rep. Prior to this I had bought saws and other Stihl equipment from them. Maybe dude was having a bad day but I vowed never to shop here again. Seriously Bad experience.
I destroy my lawnmower self propel belt more than I care to admit. Friendly, with anything I’ve ever needed right there in stock, the staff is great. I always feel very welcome.
I have been buying comercial mowers and equipment at Plainfield Equipment for over 20 years and have never had a problem with their sales or service or anything they sell for that matter.
My grandson had a blast looking at all the tractors!
Since my last post, they got out here and got my tractor in and serviced it in a timely fashion, they did right by their word..and I am quite pleased.
I purchased a front end loader for my New Holland Tractor and had it installed. I also had my fluids changed on my tractor. Rex was great to work with and I had my tractor back in less than a week. Everything looks and works great and the prices are very competitive. The entire staff was friendly, professional and quick to answer my questions. Darrell helped unload my tractor in the rain when I brought it and he ensured it was properly strapped down when I picked it up. I would highly recommend Plainfield Equipment for equipment or servicing needs.Brad
Great Place. Bringing my mower here for the second year in a row for their Winter Service Special. They offer free pickup and delivery. The Price for the service is super reasonable too. I spoke to Brandon this time when I called. Last year I spoke with Rex. Both really nice guys. Highly recommend this place.

Purchased a Cub Cadet LT 50 lawn tractor in Febuary. Used it today for the first time. Seems like an awesome machine. Quite an upgrade from my 20 year old 42 inch cut worn out Craftsman. Thanks guys!

Every one that I have delt with there has a very dry personality. Part prices are triple the price as of there competators pricing. If you buy it make sure its what you want or needed because your going to pay a 25 percent restocking fee. My opinion their just a very greedy company.
Bought a Stihl blower online, these guys had it all ready to go the very next day. Unboxed, set up and fueled. Excellent customer service! I will definitely be coming back here for my next mower purchase. Thanks guys.
For truckers who will be delivering here just park on the shoulder (us40) they don’t have a dock and somewhere to turn around! They will unload in less than 30 minutes.

I have bought many many things from both Jr. And Sr. They are very honest and likeable guys. I am always treated as I am part of the family when I come in and everyone knows my name. That alone keeps me coming back.
I called today to make an appointment to have my Hustler mower serviced. Most places I called dont service Hustler, but several of them recommended Plainfield Equipment. I spoke with Rex - really nice guy, great customer service! Glad I found them.
I purchased a 48 inch TrimStar from Rex late last year and had a great purchase experience. He walked my wife and I through all of the model differences and put up nicely with my many detailed questions on ALL of the Hustler models he had. Ive been back a few times for miscellaneous things and brought my younger son with me a few times. The staff have been excellent and Im happy to live close to a place that sells and services Hustler - the brand I wanted after many hours of online research.

I bought a used tractor from here and found 2 problems with it after delivery. They came out to my place corrected both problems on a saturday after hours. Cant say enough about the customer service. They earned my business and I highly recommend them.

Got a new tractor a year ago, has not been working right for a couple of months.went to see them to fix it they gave us the runaround. We had to go to the father (owner) and tell him we were going to call New Holland and tell them how we are treated. So now they want to fix it.The Son of the owner is a --- he will layer. Be aware
This was some time back, but it still bothers me, so I decided to post a review.I purchased a brand new Billy goat brush mower from them and used it about 3 times. The mower has a clear design flaw, where the blade is held on by tightening the bolt enough against the blade, to hold it in place. There arent any notches on the blade to fix it in place, so any kick back from the blade hitting anything goes right through the bolt thread, holding the blade in place.This design flaw results in the thread getting trashed whenever the blade hits anything significant, like a fallen branch, which you would expect to happen occasionally as its a brush mower for going through tall grass and bushes.So, after the 3rd time using it, sure enough it hit a branch and cut out. There was no apparent damage to the blade, but when I started it back up, the blade would no longer spin because it had lost friction, as the thread on the bolt had trashed and would not re-tighten.I took the mower back to Plainfield Equipment, as it was only a month or so old and still under warranty. When they fixed it, they told me it was not a warranty fix, showed me the blade that had a slight, even, bend in it like it was bent in a vice, rather than a bend from hitting a rock or something and claimed this was why it wasnt covered under warranty.So they billed me for fixing my mower without my consent for fixing it out of warranty, because they claimed the blade had hit something. Of course the blade hit something, thats its job. The bolt thread completely ripping out if the blade hits something is a serious design flaw, as the blade will always hit something; all mowers hit something if you use them long enough.The fact they deceived me, then gave me a lame excuse not to honor the warranty, then fixed my mower and charged me, without my consent to do it out of warranty, is why Im giving such a poor review.I simply dont trust them. They sold me a lemon, for about $3500.00 with a useless warranty and milked some more money out of me for a design flaw of a mower that might cost me a repair bill every time I use it.
This place is great. Went in to buy a side grass catcher for my super s and explained that I purchased it a few hours away. They didnt treat me differently like another dealer did in central Indiana, they were very friendly, and even treated my five year old daughter like a princess by giving her candy. These guys have earned my business based solely on their personalism.
Baught a Raptor limited from them 2 years ago, left it with them for service, the guys are very helpful.

Very poor experience. Deceived of purchasing full 2015 model at same price as brand new 2016 Hustler SD 60. The premise was a 2015 Kawasaki engine on 2016 mower. Rex Jr. was not transparent in the actual details and cursed many times when called out on it - incredibly unprofessional. Who does that? Upon delivery (which was tardy) receipt lacked year of model details else I wouldnt have accepted it - I took it at face value. In short, the deal discussed is was not delivered and legal action will be pursued.
My parents went in with the hopes of getting a new riding mower since their mower went out. They picked one out and were told by the sales guy that they had that particular one in stock. After a while of not hearing that it was coming in, my father called only to find out that they lied and apparently didnt have any in stock. Two weeks later and we were told it would be delivered to us today. My dad called again and was told now it wont be in until earliest of tomorrow. Getting really frustrated with how this (what should be a wonderful experience), has turned into the worst we have ever had while trying to purchase something. This needs to be made right!
I do not give them any stars!!! Very poor and illmannered rude customer service!!!! Never again will I deal with these people!! Liars!!!! I bought a cub cadet, I am having an issue with it starting, I spoke with Cody, got NO return phone call, I spoke with Rex today, i have never been so offended nor spoke to the way he did to me!! Very poor customer service. My issue was resolved by calling a store down the street from them!! Dont ask questions, dont have an issue, you will be treated with TOTAL DISRESPECT AND RUDENESS!!!!I WOULD NOT DO BUSINESS WITH YOU NOR WOULD I RECOMMEND YOU TO ANYONE!!! YOU TRULY LOST A REPEAT CUSTOMER!! RUDNESS AND DISTRUST FROM YOU IS ALL I CAN SAY!!!!
