Good grocery, prices seem a bit lower than Stop and Shop.

Love the Big Y. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I shop the Plainfield, CT location. The floral department is also amazing. I recently held a private event and needed centerpieces for the tables. I met Ce-Ce and she help me to pick out my flowers for the centerpiece and even ordered the flowers that I wanted to make sure they would be in stock for the day of the event. She put together amazing centerpieces that were exactly what I was looking for. They were beautiful and I received many comments on them. Cant say enough about how great Ce-Ce was to work with. I highly recommend the Big Y in Plainfield and Ce-Ce in their floral department for all of your floral needs.

Always clean. Best fresh meals and seafood. Lots of local farms sell their stuff there. They are pricey, but so worth it.

Better quality of meat than any chain grocery store in the area. Sizable and varied beer selection, better than most liquor stores. Their in-store Sushi is surprisingly good. We spoke with the chef who prepared a custom order for us, shes really very nice and is an actual professionally trained Sushi Chef. This stores produce quality is high, but the prices are much too high. A good deal of the merchandise is priced too high.Tldr: Meat, Seafood, Sushi, beer selection- greatOther merchandise prices too high for weekly shopping.

Check out was quick. Hamburgers were lean but good. Staff was missing.

Out of town customers, wanted steaks for a family cookout. Butcher shop directed us to case of precut meat which didnt have enough for the amount of people we were feeding. No one wanted to help us.

I shop for instacart & have started taking more orders at the Plainfield Big Y because the employees are so helpful, always offering to help me find stuff, the store is clean, organized & generally has all items in stocks!One specific time I was there, I grabbed strawberries and an employee walked past, stopped took them out & said she wanted to get me a new one because there was a bad, rotten one that I didnt even notice when I picked them up! Super observant & helpful.

I give big y supermarket 5 stars because they have great service polite workers and i can always gind what i need.

Ive shopped here every Sunday for the past 6 months, and I buy the exact same things every week. This store is always out of everything. I need to make a second trip to a different store way too often because this one is out of what I needed. Ive put up with it because its the closest to my house, but now I must leave a negative review. The produce section is just embarrassing. I can never find a good green bell pepper. Locating an un-bruised apple takes a lot of patience. Im very lucky if I get cilantro because its empty more weeks than not. The bananas are green green, so I always have to buy them a week ahead of time. When theres a sale on Thomas bagels or any brand of seltzer, I can expect to take a second trip to Stop & Shop the following day because the shelves are empty.The Deli will sometimes have a line of about 10 people and nobody has pulled a number because its not enforced. I learned that when I pulled number 89 and the counter said, Currently Serving 70. I shopped around for about 15 minutes and came back. The counter still said number 70, and I had to wait in the crowd of people with no idea of where I was in the queue. When I was finally acknowledged, I said I was number 89. She said, Oh okay, Thanks and didnt fix the counter. It almost seemed sarcastic, but Im not certain. There will sometimes be a long line at the deli and only one worker serving customers while three other works are organizing cheeses, wrapping meats, cleaning dishes etc. I think the customers in line should be the priority, because these lines are VERY slow. Ive waited 20-30 minutes several times with just a few people ahead of me. And note: the ticket system was never used. Im not even sure why they have it. Maybe they just dont use it on Sundays and I choose the worst time to shop.I will make an effort to shop at Stop & Shop from now on. Stop & Shops deli kiosk system is really nice and its worth the extra drive to not have my time wasted. I am leaving two stars only because this store seems cleaner than the Norwich Stop & Shop and doesnt have the rotten seafood smell. The Seafood rot smell at Stop & Shop is better than making multiple trips to the grocery store.Please see my attached pictures.

Ordered whole belly clams and shrimp. The clams were really crunchy. Called store and they offered a new meal. My husband rushed his shrimp meal and brought the clams to the store. The young man disagreed and said they were not overcooked. OMG. How could he think this! New meal was just ok. Still crunchy, and where were the bellies ????? My husband said we will not order again. Very disappointed with my meal.Charlotte

Great people and a huge selection of excellent, fresh and ready to eat food. This is one of my favorite places to stop by when Im in Plainfield. Its very rare that I get to eat fresh when Im on the road.

They had the big and soft chocolate chip cookies and awesome pistachio muffins.

Very great grocery store and quality produce and meats

They have great food products, a quite a decent floral selection and seamed to be very well stock even through the carona virus. All carts are sanitized as you walk in which nice. They have parent parking for familys who have kids and handicap as well. Their prices can be a bit high but the quality is pretty decent. If your looking for a nice local place here is definitely the spot for you.

Bottle and can returns are open. Fish n Chips are phenomenal and pizzas are good bang for the buck. They have some bbq sauces you cant find other places.

This isnt the biggest Big-Y, but they have all the necessary departments like: pizza, bakery, butcher, seafood and the usual grocery store aisle. I find it hard to find everything I need at this store. This Big Y, like others Ive shopped at, is too expensive unless there is a sale. Making it difficult to be the only store to shop at. Having a Big Y card gets the sale prices, if there are any, but in general the store is expensive. I saw an employee enforcing their face mask policy to a couple of customers, but the way their main aisle is set up it is Impossible to properly maintain social distancing while people come down the main aisle and shove past while customers wait in the check out lines.

Store is very pricey. Theyve also started this new digital coupon program that many seniors have no clue how to use. Its not a good idea for them.

Always has most everything I am looking for and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

This is the closest store and that is the only reason I ever go here. The prices are high and the quality is terrible. Every time I buy strawberries I have to look though the packs to try and find a pack that’s not filled with moldy and rotten fruit. When I think I find a pack that’s not totally spoiled and purchase it, the next day the entire pack is always moldy and I have to throw it away.But today takes the cake. I went in to get soup. As I was pouring it into the bowl I noticed it wasn’t steaming. It was cold! So I went and told one of the workers. She came over and saw that no one turned the warmers on. She said she had to speak to her manager. When she came back she informed me that her manager told her to reheat the soup! I work in food service, anyone who works with food and is Serve Safe Certified knows that soup can be reheated ONE time. And NOT after being heated and then left to sit out for hours until it cools to room temperature for who knows how many hours! I told her that her manger should NOT reheat the soup and that someone could get sick. I told her I wouldn’t wait for more and walked away. As I was walking away I saw them reheating the soup. Now for it to be as cold as it was it had to have been sitting out for a long time. I will NEVER go here again. I would rather drive to Stop and Shop or Shop Rite than go here because it’s closer. I can’t believe the complete disregard for people’s health!! So, if you ate soup from Big Y today and got sick, now you know why.... disgusting!

This supermarket is overall a pleasurable experience to shop in. Your meat department manager is superb and his service is second to none that I have ever dealt with in my shopping experience. Your Deli department is friendly and very helpful. Checkout is a breeze and the staff helping to bag do a nice job as well.

Great selection of groceries. Plenty of choices for those with food allergies. The butcher shop staff is excellent and will cut you a brisket if none are on the shelves. Bakery staff will run fresh loaves thru the slicer. Cashiers are always polite. Order a pizza and have it ready when you check out. Kudos to the staff and management.

Conveniently located near home, friendly staff, and quality products. Unfortunately way too expensive to make this my weekly store. I prefer shopping, when even without sales and coupons, doesnt require an entire paycheck.

We go to big-y a couple times a week and they always have what we are looking for. The staff are helpful. If you are looking for something they well help you find it. They make their own pizza and grinders/wraps.

This store is an excellent choice for groceries shopping, great staff that are friendly and helpful, and super clean. The prepared foods are very good, their fish and chips are the best I have had locally and in the top three of all time, spend a buck more and ask for the Haddock. Call ahead and they will have it ready when you get there.You cant beat the buy 1 get 2 free sales. Good choice for bakery and meat too.

I love big y! They have awesome grinders and the different departments (seafood, meat, and deli) always have fresh food and decent deals. I exclusively buy my meat here because Ive never had a problem with freshness and sometimes they have roasts and chicken at very good prices.

Service at pizza/grinder dept was nonexistent, the deli had two attendants, I was told to wait while one attendant cleaned a slicing machine. The result,no purchase for four large grinders and deli meat was made

Big Y Plainfield is my go to store. From the deli to the bakery and everything in between its always fresh and delicious.

Ive been going to this supermarket since I was a little girl. Its always clean and they do pride themselves to provide good service. The buy one get one sales are to be watched. The do jack the prices during these. Most times, not all, they will stock an item you request. I wish the deli would do the same but, they refused. This store was recently renovated.

Big Y has the best prices on steaks when there on sale and if you have a Big Y card, and great customer service. I always go here, to the one in Plainfield.

I really like the employees. They have good service in the deli and where the butcher shop is. All around Id have to say they do a great job with customer service.

Well, first time there, as an out of state visitor 400 miles away, I told the cashier I am from out of state, but could I have the sale price since I dont have a bonus card? She said no problem, she will take care of it. The total came up and I questioned her on the sale prices she said she would take care of for me. O dont worry, I got it. I paid the amount, being unsure, and checked my receipt in the car. Full price on everything, no sale markdowns. I was a bit upset to even go back in to fix it. I liked the hotel I was at there, so when Im in the area again, Im not shopping there.
