I called to ask for an estimate to repair or replace my porch awning. A man called me back and asked exactly what I wanted. I explained a panel fell away from my awning and I needed someone to give me an estimate of what it would cost to repair or replace it. The man on the phone told me it woukd be At least a three hours. As this was a local company I was confused about three hours and asked how far away is the shop. At this point the man because very agitated and forcefully stated It doesnt matter how far it is. Its just me and one other guy and it will cost at least $150.00. Now I began to realize the man was talking about how many hours a minimum charge would be. Before I could respond the man now yelling said I know what you want, you want somebody to come fix your awning for $20.00. That aint gonna happen! I was shocked, my only reslonse was what are you takin about? The man started yelling again that he isnt going to work for free or something like that. Rather than argue I just hung up on the man. I then drove by the address listed for the business 3550 Mexico St. Pittsburgh Pa. 15212. The picture I took of the address speaks for itself. Today I agreed to have two awnings replaced at my home for $1200.00. Very, very poor customer service skills at American Awnings!
