Amazing experience. Felt like you were really somewhere else. They stick to the theme. When we went it was cold inside, just as the pictures of the train were showing it snowing outside. When they say that you get 90 minutes for 2 people they mean it. Also they will not accept late arrivals since they are on a schedule. Soooooo many cocktails to choose from, there are is no beer or food.

Im just going to tell you about all three locations here! Behind the walls of the Century Grand are three very amazing experiences ! Grey Hen; a New Orleans theme, Platform 18; a moving train car experience, Undertow; a tiki themed experience. All three of these locations have amazing cocktails, amazing settings and amazing people! Each location has a story within the pages of the menu, very cool and an interesting read! I suggest experiencing all three spots and making reservations ahead of time! No food, drinks only, so plan meals accordingly! For those who have yet to experience the new location of Undertow, you will not be disappointed!!!

The overall atmosphere is very nice and different. The service is another story. The drink menu is the main focus. You are not allowed to order any drink that is not on this menu. Nor, are you allowed to modify any drink on the menu.A 20% tip is automatically added and this gives the freedom of the server in which (our particular one kept saying shes just a server), to treat you like a cover, not a customer. All I wanted to do was remove lime juice from a drink that they made and they refused to do it. Later in the evening I stood up to get a vantage point from the bar because I may come back again in book a reservation at the bar. I was immediately confronted by the server who told me that I couldnt stand and I had to remain seated. After voicing both my complaints to the manager regarding the modification of the drink or making a case for when I may want to come back again and wanted to see what the vantage point was from the bar, I was told to sit down. I felt like I was being scolded. And she didnt care either. So, if you like being told what to do, how to do it and when to do it especially after paying these high prices, then this place is for you.Otherwise youre just another number to them with no customer service whatsoever.

Best. Experience. Ever.If you’re thinking about doing this, just do it. You will not regret it. I recommend booking your reservation in advance. Everything you pay upfront goes towards your final tab. Saves your spot, it’s worth reserving. There’s limited seating so when you plan, you get the best seats in the place.Atmosphere is super intimate. The mixologists are incredibly hospitable, literally the best hospitality you will ever experience.Drinks…amazing. So much to choose from, so much versatility. If you have questions the mixologists have all the answers. They are super knowledgeable and recommend drinks on the spot based on your taste preferences. The scenery and atmosphere is like no other. I live in the East Valley and drove 40 minutes just to experience this. I would go back in a heart beat. If you’re looking for a wow factor experience, 10/10 recommend Platform 18.

Loved this place. Came here for my fathers day weekend and wasnt disappointed. My one gripe and reason for the 4 star is, we had a good 20 to 15 minutes left and the server came to clear some empty glasses in a bit of an aggressive manner, literally went under my chin as I was drinking to grab another glass. Needless to say we were kinda being rushed for whatever reason because we were finishing up and almost done already. We heard her tell other guests they had 5 minutes left, earlier in the day, but we were ready to leave well before the 5 minute mark, so the change of vibe was unnecessary and it only really cost her an additional tip she would have received, had she treated us like the paying customers we are. She could have given polite time warnings over her aggressive behavior.

This may be one of the most unique bars Ive ever been in. The drinks were amazing and very unique. The staff including our bartender Richard were very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. The ambiance was amazing and really gave you the feel that you were traveling through the Rocky mountains while on a train. The one and a half hour experience goes by very quickly. My only suggestion for improvement was to have some bar snacks that one could have for this ride as one would have in an upscale train bar while drinking some very potent drinks. I cannot wait to also try their other experiences.

Talk about funThis place is such a creative and unique experience I recommend trying it at least once.Brought to you by the owners of the shipwrecked bar Undertow both of these venues are in the same building.Upon arrival you’ll think you’re lost but you’re not. Who knew fun was hidden in this building. Please note this venue is my registration only. They fill up quickly so I do not recommend a same day adventure unless it’s in the middle of the week.Food is not provided unless you count the booze sherbet. They secure your reservation with a deposit based on your headcount. The funds you pay apply towards your final bill and you pay the remaining amount. You’re teleported to a Downton Abbey like station where you wait to be boarded. Upon entry you’ll take in a few tables but most of the seating is at the bar.The staff are dressed to fit the time period and once everyone is aboard the fun beginsThere’s a slow jolt and the wheels begin to move (all simulated) now’s the time to look out the window as your journey begins.I don’t think the picture ever changes but it’s always winter on this ride and soon you’ll be taking in the view of snow covered trees and mountainsThe drink menu is a small novel leading you through whiskey adventures, boozy desserts and more. No need to attempt to get through the menu just ask your server and they will be your guide. Also make sure you try the boozy dessertWe are every single type of sherbet they had and loved them all

The drinks were not that good just in general but especially for the prices that they charge. I would say that is first and foremost. Our waiter was quite lackluster and lacking in asking if we wanted more drinks and refilling waters. No train puns from him or real engagement. The scenery that they played on the screens that were supposed to be our windows was also lacking. It was always the same snowy mountain woods flashing by. I wouldve quite enjoyed some city scape too. Maybe a theme. Like tonight youre boarding a train that travels through San fransisco or Japan. When our 90 minutes was up that wouldve been the perfect time to switch up the scenery and do like a were pulling into the next city stop. Play it up man. If its a train theme then freaking do that. But nope we boarded and exited the same snowy mountains.

We were approached when our table was ready after letting them know we had arrived. There is a glossary in the back which I really appreciated.I highly recommend going at least once... as for myself, I can’t wait to go back! First of all, the atmosphere is absolutely stunning. My wife and I went here for the conclusion of our 20th anniversary date. We couldnt get over the overall feel of being on a train in winter. It never got old. We were, however, very disappointed in the drinks. We ordered a total of six drinks between the two of us and they all basically tasted alike. Pretty bland with absolutely zero identity in each one. It seemed like everything was served with a mint garnish and some sort of dried fruit to distract you from the fact that they were some of the worst cocktails we had ever had.Having said that, it was an amazing experience because of the setting. Even waiting to, board was really cool. It almost had a theme park feel to it, like something you might see at Disney. Very impressive. This is obviously why people come here in the first place, but boy, if the drink quality matched the ambience, we may try to come monthly.

Part of a trio of top-shelf cocktail experiences within the Century Grand building, Platform 18 takes you into a literal train car complete with bar seating and windows simulating travelling through the Rocky Mountains. However, this place could be in a run down shack and Id still return because the drinks are that good. When you look over the menu you will likely see many ingredients youve never heard or (nor can easily find locally) and yet the glossary in the back will make sure you know exactly what youll be imbibing. Its definitely the most adventurous of the three cocktail experiences in there in terms of cocktail ideation. Ive found some of cocktails in there I didnt like but they were almost always met with new flavors I hadnt experienced before which made it was worth the $. That being said there are a ton of cocktails I do love on the menu and theres a really good chance youll find a cocktail you love enough to want to come back for that alone. The service is among the best in the valley. These folks are not your average bartenders, reservation attendants, managers, or servers. They all have memorable personalities, a good eye for keeping your next drink coming, and very friendly. They dont know just how to make the drink, some of them ideated the drink, and all of them have a solid understanding of whats in it and next level techniques to provide cocktails that look, feel, taste, smell, and linger very differently from one another.Id rather not think about how much Ive spent over the years at Barter and Shake concepts such as this one but thats my problem. The drinks cost what they do here for good reason. If youve only had Jack and Cokes, Vodka crans, AMFs, or well Whisky Sours with no egg whites then this might be a bit intimidating. The wonderful person taking care of you for the evening will know just what to get you started with.

Recently got back from a trip where we visited all three of the Century Grand bars and all three were outstanding. Platform 18 looks great and has a huge and very interesting cocktail list. Even though the cocktail list was pretty intimidating, our server was extremely helpful in breaking down the list, giving recommendations, and explaining what we could expect from each cocktail. The 90 minute time block you sign up for breezes by and left me wanting more.If I had one critique of the bar, I think I would request a bit more development of the train theme and ambiance as the space could probably use a little bit more. But still, its a fantastic five star bar and I would come back any time.

My experience has been mediocre at best - NOT because of the facility/bar but because making a reservation has been impossible. Their system (sevenrooms.com) appears to now allow reservations more than a day in advance. I hope that is only my experience to-date or that the system is down, but for someone who wants to plan ahead, it is not appealing to me at all.Looking at the only day that come up showing availability, tomorrow (Thursday 26 Aug 2021), only bar seating is available. I can understand that but not that there is no other dates/times available up to 3 weeks out. This place has a very good reputation from what I can tell, by word-of-mouth and online reviews and comments, but I may never get a chance to experience it myself. If anyone can recommend a different way of making a reservation (and no phone number is provided to even try to call and make a reservation), please do. OK so let me start with this is one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had at a bar I took a few photos and videos wall inside and some of my friends legit thought I got on the train and left town. You literally step into a whole other world, and from the lighting to the sounds and the entire vibe, it was absolutely one of a kind. We walked in and we’re unsure, because we’ve never been here before and where exactly to go, and how to do this whole thing because you have different options immediately right when you walk in. we were greeted by one of the managers at the front I forgot her name… But she went above and beyond to make sure we got sat right away and she took us to platform 18 we sat in the back of the bar and our server was Dan aka daiquiri Dan, was a treat! Platform 18 might just be one of the most interesting spots to grab a cocktail in Greater Phoenix. The detail put into the experience is amazing; you really feel like youre in a 1920s train car. The pre-order champagne and post-check bourbon chocolates were a nice touch, and the boozy sorbet was a real standout. That said, I thought the menu was too long. With just 90 minutes aboard the train, I didnt love that it took 15 of those minutes just to get through the menu to order. Compared to other speakeasy-type bars in town, the drinks were more expensive and in my opinion, not quite as good. Its a cool place to check out if you havent been yet or if you have friends visiting from out of town, but otherwise I dont see myself visiting Platform 18 often.

This was an interesting experience! While the drinks are quite pricey, you are getting a very high quality product as well as complementary champagne and chocolates. However, I thought it was a bit weird that the fruits/extras added to the cocktails were done with bare hands, rather than tongs. I watched my waitress put a lemon slice in the glass with her bare hand, which is a practice I shuttered at as a past server. The bar itself gets very loud, so dont anticipate on having meaningful conversation. While you get 90 minutes in the experience, there are no bars in the area to go afterwards. We left feeling a bit underwhelmed with no where else to go. Overall, I think this experience is something you can do once and be content with.

Really fun concept. Awesome staff. Great drinks. Great dim sum. Get the Thai Beef Jerky! We were in from out of town and headed to UnderTow and saw this was opening. Got a seat at the bar before it started getting crowded. The best part of the experience is that staff come around with food carts where you can see the dim sum and get a description. If you like something you get it right from the cart. Genius idea as we were hungry. We had food before our drink were even done being mixed! The staff was impeccable. Seriously, everyone was nice, knowledgeable and accommodating. Tommy even wrote a list of places we should visit in town. They spent a lot of time on the decor and it shows. Since it’s an interactive experience it feels slightly like Epcot or some theme park that’s transporting you back in time. The Hen (the whiskey tasting bar and shop) was amazing. We tried their personal barrel picks and ended up leaving with three bottles. Prices on bottles were the most honest I’ve ever seen. Coming from Chicago where bottles get snatched up immediately, the selection was legendary. We even had a chance to peak our heads into the Train Car experience. It looked really cool, but we were happy to have the no-reservation bar. Again, thanks for a fun experience.

Brittany is a top notch crafter of cocktails. While drinking our exquisite libations, she was a delight to chat with, and knowledge about the venue, drinks and plates!

Such a neat experience and the cocktails were topnotch. The bartender really helped recommend something that was perfect for me. The Bootlegger ice cream was outstanding!! I have been recommending friends and family to check it out since I went.

Just made a reservation and it was honestly pretty classist and shady in terms of billing. Just super convoluted. I paid over $66 just to reserve 2 seats (Cant book in odd Numbers, you HAVE to round up) late on a Tuesday night! This includes a 20% gratuity, which Im happy to pay. Just wanted to highlight this means they dont pay their staff a living wage. Ill update my review after going, but be aware of shady billing practices.UPDATE: legit a cool concept bar! Kinda pricey and reservation only but drinks and service is fantastic, try the ice cream! I would give it 5 stars but the reservation system is still to convoluted for my liking!

What a great concept. Three different themes with Disney World level decor and smoke machines 😂. The drinks where equally as entertaining as the ambiance.

Oh my God, this place was amazing. I dont want to give any details, because the beauty of it was discovering them on our own, BUT I will say that the staff is made up of lovely, capable, friendly folks and the drinks are top notch. Seriously, try the sorbet!

Awesome cocktails and a totally unique experience. There needs to be at least some kind of snack option - even nuts or something. It’s 100% cocktails, and not cheap ones either.

Careful when making your reservation! We were looking forward to coming to Century Grand but left disappointed after expecting one thing and getting another. When I made plans to surprise my husband for our 22nd wedding anniversary, I was excited to find Century Grand during my Google search. On the right side of the Google page for Century Grand read “Platform 18 at Century Grand” with amazing photos of the inside of the “train” and cool videos of the interior on You Tube. I clicked on the website icon and scrolled down to reservations and made a reservation for (2) at a time that would work around our dinner plans which meant either early in the evening, in this case, a 5:00pm barstool or a 9:30pm table. I wanted a table but didn’t want to be rushed during our dinner, so I chose 5pm and entered my credit card info. When we arrived, I told them we had a reservation for Platform 18 and gave my name. The hostess looked a little confused and then lead us to the “bar seat” which was not at the bar. Instead, it was two barstools in a far corner behind the folks at the bar. We were smushed up against a 4-inch ledge that our drinks barely fit on. I told the waitress that are reservation was on the train and she explained that I made a mistake and had made a reservation at Grey Hen Rx instead. She said that Platform 18 was totally full and could not accommodate us. The bartender made awesome drinks, but we had to wait a long time to get our orders in because I’m sure the poor gal forgot we were there. The staff was nice, and our drinks were great but left disappointed and disenchanted.

We loved our evening here. The interior of the train car was done so well that youre really immersed in the atmosphere of this bar. The bartender was fantastic and helpful, and the drinks were each perfect and unlike any cocktails Ive had before in their level of complexity and balance.

First of all, to charge $25.00 to just make a reservation is really bad! But then to charge $25.00 per person plus a 20% gratuity and a service charge of 4% is unheard of. I can only imagine what their cocktails cost. All this and being a limited stay of 90 minutes!! NO thanks
