Quick service and attentive staff. Food was above average. Very fair pricing for the amount of food received. Restaurant is in the Melrose District and is very easy to find with plenty of parking in the front. There are many breakfast and lunch options available on their menu with gluten-free items as well!
Its a small place and if you blink youll miss it but it serves a nice breakfast. The server made sure our coffee was never empty. The food is good and prices are worth it for what is given. You can get large meals or their waffles and pancakes which are more a la carte style. The large waffle or pancakes run about $7-$8 and itll be extra for a side like bacon, egg or hash browns.Ill come back to try lunch sometime.
Extremely disappointed! Not as good as it used to be. Food and service have always been good. We have been coming here for years. Now, it’s under new ownership, and the service is off. It should not take an hour for anyone to acknowledge and take ones order and for the food to arrive. The owner was offended when we pointed this out. He does not seem to care about customer satisfaction or running an efficient kitchen. He is losing staff and long-time customers at an alarming rate. We certainly wont be back!
This previously very nice classic diner has been around for years. What a change in ownership can do to this diner is amazing. We have visited this newlyoperated business four times. The service has unfortunately been horrendous. We gave it a try four times and it just seems to be getting worse. The last visit took over fifty minutes to get simple breakfastsfor four. It was truly an awful experience. But guess what? We went back a fifth time to give them ANOTHER chance and I was told by the new owner, Carl that I was abusive to his staff by telling them that the wait was unsatisfactory and the waiter heartily had agreed with me. Upon being treated in a very poor fashion by the owner, who basically said he didn’t care what I had to say, we simply left. It is truly unfortunate that the operation of this previously finerestaurant took such a dramatic turn for the worstService with the food also with less quality. The turnover also seems high with people simply not showing up for work. My honest reaction when an owner has no care for customers comments that try to help by pointing out that the quality and service have dropped markedly—by a customer that came back again and again —- after being treated abysmally by the owner, I will not be back. And this is after visiting the prior owner’s business over 150 times AND then with the new owner given a chance goingback again and again and again five times
Been here multiple times in the past normally have great service but today it was just so so. One of my friends ordered a pulled pork sandwich and got a sausage patty sandwich. The service was just super off today
I want so badly to rave about our lunch. This was our first time here and when we walked in we all felt we might have found a real winner. It feels so anti restaurant chain inside. Before I say more I want to first tell you we plan on returning to try it again. About today...service was poor. No check backs. No coffee/water refills. 2 meals came together yet we had to ask about the 3rd dish. The food was good. My panini tasty, just not panini crisp. Fries needed 2 more minutes in the fryer. One guest had an egg breakfast with a biscuit and gravy. Again tasty, just not outstanding in anyway. Menu is substantial so our next visit hopefully reveals a true winner. Heres hoping 🙏
Mom & Pop restaurants are my favorite to visit when traveling! Especially when the food is homemade style and delicious. 100% recommend trying out this spot if your in the Phoenix area. Definitely going back to try something new when Im back in town. Great service, everyone was just so kind, sweet, and personable. Love that!!
We have been coming here for years, food has always been good.... we noticed this weekend that it appears to be under new ownership... hope it stays awesome....
Been coming here for the early worm for a few years and honestly wish I could visit more often. Amazing food great environment, friendly staff 🙃
Very friendly. Traditional cooling love it! Highly recommend
Service was non-existent, perhaps if we sat on the patio we could have actually had a refill on our drinks. Should have known when the place was empty during brunch and the food came out lacking any sort of flavor and cold. The eggs were rubbery, the rice tasted asbif it was yesterdays left overs. Too bad . The restaurant its self is cute and fun but they really should put more care into the food vs. decorations. Will not be returning and do not recommend this place ☹️
My first time and it was pretty good. Ill be back.
I cant believe I have lived in this area for over 5 years and just recently visited Melrose Kitchen. This is a great diner that has been in the hood longer than I have. The omelette I got was full of fresh veggies and really filling. I was amazed with all the choices on the menu. The coffee was good and the apple juice was fresh squeezed. This is now in my rotation for a welcoming atmosphere and straight-up good grub.
This is a great place. Food gets to you quick and everyone is great and pleasant.
Ive been here a few times, sometimes its packed, they close at 2 so 1 is the best time to go. Only drawback is the soda which comes in cans. Its got a diner feel with cheap eats that never disappoint.
This place is a must if youre visiting phx, friendly staff and delectable food.
Coming at thanksgiving please have more vegan types on menu?
It was really good. Great service and food. Pr
This place is absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend the omelets. You can add up to 6 ingredients and the choice of ingredients is definitely plenty. My omelet today was tomato, onion, spinach, mushrooms, ham and Swiss cheese. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼😋
Good value for the money. Owner is a nice guy and deserves support
Very nice. Very small but good was terrific! Delicious and hot! Didnt take that long to receive the order once placed. Will return back!
Very nice staff. Yummy breakfast.
Consistently my favorite diner in Phoenix.
Food was beyond horrible and only 5% discount we paid 71 bucks for trash sad to say McDonalds wouldve been better and I am not a big fan.
Quick, professional and friendly service. Delicious food. Very happy.
Great food. Fresh ingredients. Great service. Highly recommend this place.
Great food, great service, laid back atmosphere. I love the patio.
It was a very good Salmon sandwich, but they were short on staff that weekend.
Great place, family atmosphere.
Really nice staff and the food is delicious!! It’s actually my favorite breakfast place right now!!
I dont usually like to talk badly. The eggs were overcooked. Sent the first batch back because it had hair in it. Steak was unseasoned, the ingredients in the omelette were decent, maybe it an off day
This place is amazing discovered it a while back havent gone back in maybe 3 months but just finish having lunch and the food is always great! The place always looks clean and pretty. Favorite breakfast/lunch spot in melrose
I food was rushed, bland andcoffee warm. This is just my experience.
Really great place. Employees are great. There is a little outside eating area to eat at.
I always get the huevos rancheros, spicey so beware but mmmmmm good, ive tried other plated as well which are good but all 8n all good place I go every weekend 4-2-21
The food was great! Staff friendly, cute place.
Great place. The food was absolutely delicious! My waiter Alicia was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend it.
Got a breakfast burrito to go. Thought I was going to get something nicely prepared, home-made cooking. It was pretty much a drive up filibertos burrito. Everything was diced up, thrown into a tortilla. Sloppy and greasy. Actually got sick after because it was so greasy. Yuck. The menu also said it was 9.99 and I got charged more than that.
French toast was terrible no flavor. Hard boiled egg tasted like a pre packaged item. Sausage needed salt everything basically was not satisfactory at all. Needs improvement in the kitchen and service area. Best of luck.
My first experience as a homeless person on 12/6/2020 is that, I ask about chief in the back it was a lil up tight when I ask that. Butem chief had my food delicious!, Its and oriented family, comfortable environment to step into., i definitely recommend people should go if you ask me. I definitely be back for more thanks Melrose Kitchen for a delicious meal.
You cannot fool the senses. These guys and gals definitely eat their own cooking. 10/10
I rarely leave reviews but after ordering takeout I had to add my experience. My food was so unbelievably greasy (how do you make an avocado taste like old grease at 8:00 am?) and dry and bland all at the same time. Actually got sick after eating breakfast here.
Great food, very polite, and lovely little restaurant
One of my preferred locations for tasty Breakfast. Fell in love with this place from the 1st taste. The staff was very sociable and kind. Bring your hunger - portions are generous.
Ridiculously inattentive service. Food, sub par -- served cold. Lovely patio in the back. Probably wouldnt return unless I lived or worked near by.
It was good but I wanted a chicken salad and they had no salad dressing..kinda weird
We went for brunch, it was very good. The food was well prepared and the wait staff was attentive and friendly.
Ok scene for breakfast. Great place to relax, people watch, eat good food or all the above. Menu is like a cafe in Boston I loved.
Good food, nice cozy place.
Stopped in for quick bite to eat, different vibe, food was ok but nothing to brag on
Good food but the service there is spotty. Went for brunch at a time with not a lot of customers and still waited as though it were packed. The servers were pleasant when finally coming over though and the food was okay. Ive had better experiences here so this could have just been a one off. Looked like they were hiring as well. Overall, still a good place to check out. Especially since they have a pretty cool patio with lots of stuff.
Wow, when you first walk in it looks like a 50s diner and that is it. when you walk to the back of the diner there is a small hallways that takes you outside to their patio. Patio is dog-friendly and it is one of the cutest patios I have seen. Please see the photos to get an idea. It is completely shaded with umbrellas and screen shading with good ventilation. All of the exterior of the buildings are covered with flowers and ornaments so you dont even see the walls of the building. We even sat right next to a small waterfall. The employees are extremely nice and helpful. You can tell that they enjoy being here. The food choice is a very good selection from biscuits and gravy to Mexican burritos and beans. The price was a very good value. But I believe I enjoyed the patio the most.if you are looking for a traditional breakfast I would absolutely recommend you stopping by here once to check it out. It is a hidden gem. And again it is dog friendly you enter from the side of the building.
I 💘 love having breakfast with my family here.
I luv Melrose Kitchen -- both the food and the owner & service workers. Perfect example of how to do things right.👍
Went for breakfast. Great food, good prices. The couple that works there are very friendly and fun to speak with.
Came here for breakfast and it was great. The biscuits and gravy, the chilaquiles, and the sausages were very good. Prompt service and good coffee/espresso. Also was not too pricey. Will definitely come back.
Ordered Postmates here for breakfast and their create your own burrito 🌯 was amazing!!!! I had turkey, spinach, green chiles, tomatoes 🍅, green bell peppers, and cilantro!! The tortilla was delicious too! Highly recommend this spot.
Nice comfortable restaurant
Has the mom and pop feel. The food is great and delicious. The prices are very reasonable. I will definitely return. My only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 would be the coffee wasn’t very good and the AC didn’t feel like it was working. Not sure if the AC was just down or what but that’s a must in AZ.
I would like to tell you how Melrose Kitchen was. However, we went in. We were told to seat ourselves. We sat and waited for 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us. No one did, so we got up and left.
Our Breakfast was absolutely great! Really good portion sizing and prices as well. Will definitely make another trip back
Received wrong order and was not impressed with it at all. They offered to replace for free when I go in next but because I didnt like the food I wont go again.
Great service and great food! Our young waiter was very attentive and professional. Will return!
Not as good as it used to be it stinks literally
Food was very lovely! Service was attentive and food came out very quickly! Just visiting town for now but will be back for breakfast before we leave for home!
I love this place. Its a great spot to get a fantastic meal for breakfast or lunch. The owners and staff take care with preparation and service. Melrose Kitchen is a diamond on the Curve.
The owner is so welcoming. Good sized portions. Love the 1970s Soft Rock. Gr8 prices.
The patio out back is a really relaxing area to eat. The food portions are good for the prices. One of my favorite places to eat.
This place is amazing food is like a good home cooked meal, service is impeccable. My drink never went empty. The owner is very attentive of his crew and his customers. Highly recommend it.
I wish I could like it because its locally owned and the servers are very nice. But the food quality is a solid 3 stars at best. Seems to have a loyal following of neighborhood folks, but still. The food
How are you a diner without a soda fountain? That food did not make my $1.50 can of Coke worth coming back for.
Love this place! It’s a cute little casual restaurant with really good food. Every time I come here I’m never disappointed. Great service every time!
Omelette was great!!
A cute diner in the heart of Melrose, it was a nice spot to meet for breakfast on a rare free work week morning. We had the stuffed French toast with raspberry jam and cream cheese, with cheese scrambled eggs and hash browns, which was quite tasty. I am interested to go back to taste their Southwest lunch.
What a cool place to come and visit the owner and his wife and her son Edwin near people. it seem like youre more than just a customer to them this would be one of our favorite places we even bring friends over. they have a real neat patio in the back you will really like it and their food is good. Sweetheart likes this place. thank you chai and Martha
I had a chorizo burrito and hubby had a cheese burger and fries. Delicious. Great Food, service and atmosphere. I will be back. We loved this place. The salsa was fresh and the coffee was of good quality.
We wanted to try something different from the chain places so I found Melrose which was 5 mins from my house. The food was great. We both ordered omelettes and choose what we wanted in them, a side of pancakes and a side of yellow sauce for eggs Benedict ( cant spell it). 🤪 We both finished our plates aside from two bites I left because I was full. It was a shock when a Asian guy brought our food out. He was very nice. Like other reviewers mentioned the kid took our order and didnt come back to check on us, but luckily we didnt need anything. Will definitely be back and recommend.
Very cute place with good food. Wide menu of comfort food and favorites with not outlandish prices. My wife had the bacon and cheeseburger with fries and I tried one of the specials, a chili size burger and fries. Burgers are 1/3 lb and good if plain. The chili was good and spicy. I was good and full when we were done, and with tip and drinks will less than $30. Its a good little local diner with good service.
The service was amazing and the food was amazing!! Great atmosphere with the cutest decor!
Great service and unique atmosphere. Served by the owner who is a wonderful man.
Good food. Moderate prices. Not well known so you can still get a table without waiting on Sunday morning.
The food was ok the cuz really old-fashioned, and quiet. The service is really great!!
Crushed it on opening night for dinner service. Perfect pork chops paired with great mashed taters and steamed veggies. Gorgeous made from scratch Alfredo sauce paired with linguini and chicken. Meatloaf was a bit dense, but would make for a great sandwich on the lunch menu (hint). Always hot and fresh at all hours with nice decor to go with the eats. Check out the patio out back when weather permits.
Very Delicious food and Friendly service!
