This place is the best to come get any kind of work done the atmosphere was awesome. Pastries were very good as well as drinks! Parking was easy and restroom was clean.

By far a gem in Downtown Phoenix! Super tucked away and the atmosphere swing when walking in was rad! The pastries were incredible! Got the strawberry thumbprint and the pb Sandwich and the matcha drink. The layout of this establishment is super cool and the fact that they have a speakeasy tucked away and connected through the cafe is very genius like! The staff here was super friendly and helpful. Lines can get long here but its well worth the wait! They also have a lot of couches, chairs and tables to get your work done! It is loud but very manageable. Parking was a breeze. Would highly recommend!P.s please take your phone calls outside because nobody wants to hear your conversation😅

I’m sorry to say I use to come here a lot. It’s always busy every time I come and nowhere to sit. Bad experience with the barista I asked for extra ice with my drink and she was giving me an Attitude and kept going off on me. I told her it’s not about the money and she keeps making me look like I don’t know what I’m talking about. Every coffee shop I’ve been to never have I been treated like that. Even my friends got upset because i told them how I like it and they made a big deal. I’m so upset how I was treated. I just wanted my coffee my way…. Coffee isn’t just black and white and always the same way.

I stopped coming here for a while because the service was horrible. I decided to give it another try with my friends today and it was even worse. All the baristas there were so rude to my friend ordering coffee. They were loud and humiliated her in front of everyone while she was placing an order. I never had a chance to grab her name because I was in shock how someone can talk to a customer in that manner. She had dark brown hair and has an absolutely disgusting attitude. We bought the coffee but never again will I return. There’s so many other local coffee shops in the area to support.

Best Espresso based drinks and pastries in the valley. And I have tried all the best coffee shops in the city...lol! Their espresso has this delicious, deep, intense yet still balanced flavor that comes through strongly in all their espresso based drinks. The regular coffee can be improved. Pastries are baked FRESH DAILY IN HOUSE by real pastry chefs! Try finding another coffee shop in the city that does that! Lux recently started juicing green juices as well! Great as a healthy option. They are also one of the only places in the city to get alcoholic drinks with fresh squeezed juices they lovingly prepare all day! Fresh fruits available galore too...I’m impressed!

I was apprehensive to come here based on the poor reviews related to customer service. I went and tried it anyway. Service was okay when ordering. However, a while later when I asked where the restroom was, the girl literally rolled her eyes at me.FYI, If you go there, the restroom can be found making a right where the refrigerators in the hall are, and then taking the first left.

Was disappointed, maybe shouldnt have gone at 6:30 Sunday am.I ordered a cinnamon roll that was supposed to be the great and worth the wait for it to come out of the oven. They didnt have any ready so I paid for one at 7:30 am and was told they would call when they came out. I finally called about 8:40 and still not ready.I went down to get a refund but they were ready so I took one that was cold - definitely not fresh from of the oven. It is an average bakery cinnamon roll and definitely not worth the wait. Wont take the time to give a second chance, too many other great restaurants on Central to choose from.

I want to not like Lux as much as I do. It’s been the coolest spot with the best food and coffee around for many years. I came back last week after a long hiatus thinking it would be underwhelming somehow. Especially after the remodel that shrunk the interior square footage. Nope. Breakfast sandwich is still amazing. Coffee is still amazing. I got work done in the bustling atmosphere which was great. What’s not to like?

Good coffee but a little pricey. It was quick, though! Very few vegan options, which is a bummer considering the other reviews indicate otherwise. They were willing to talk accommodations but if youre looking for a quick to-go order or bakery item you may or may not find what you need.

Its neat, just not my kind of place. I got a chai tea and a pastry and paid over $10!! Way too over-priced and fast paced. Very busy with lots of people coming and going. Maybe Im not hip or urban enough!

I came at around 10:30, and it was super packed. I had a lot of anxiety with so many people inside, and asked if I could eat outside. The staff were more than obliging, answered all my questions, and met all of my accomodations. Great coffee, great good, great place. ✨

Its chill here. I feel like they are maximizing their seating without feeling crowded at all. The ordering line seemed intuitive to me but was definitely giving people trouble. I got an iced coffee, it was very good so Id be interested in trying a less basic drink. My grilled chicken sandwich was even better. It had gruyere cheese, how friggin fun. Overall just a good experience, definitely somewhere I would come and vibe. Probably the loudest study spot I would find acceptable.

Lux is a great place for delicious cocktails, food, and bakery items. They have a great atmosphere and a low-key environment thats conducive to great conversations, comfortable reading spots, and remote work.

Right in the middle of downtown and along the light rail is a local, unique coffee shop -- Lux. Lux serves rich, hot coffee and espresso drinks. Youll find an assortment of treats and pastries and sandwiches served fresh. Literally, the stop serving once the days allocation is gone. I like to get here early if I want to find a seat. It does get over-crowded at times and, actually, it can be hard to find a seat out of the hot sun on occasion. The funky, industrial chic decor adds to the shops charm.

Rude employees, poor customer service, limited space, overpriced items, and annoyingly crowded. This used to be a favorite spot of mine…

This coffee shop got me through college. I’m not even joking about that. It’s a great study or chill spot. The food & drinks are good, but a tad bit overpriced. I wish the owner would optimize the WiFi and seating of Lux, but other than that, it’s a local favorite of mine.

Food is good and the coffee is good. But WiFi is TERRIBLE. I was so excited to hang out grab some food and work but it was impossible because of the wifi. If you are planning on spending time there be sure to bring a Hotspot. So frustrating.

One of my absolute favorite places. The bakery puts out the most amazing treats and their espresso is always spot on! I only wish the place was a little bigger so they could do even more!

I cant figure this place out. The service is always stellar. But Ive been charged extra for things that the menu says comes with whatever item. Particularly the yogurt which says with fruit and granola, but Ive been charged extra sometimes when I ask for both. Whats up with that? The coffee is great the cold brew is better, which comes in bottles but the refills are cheaper than the first one so thats a winner. Plus its usually pretty busy and Ive always been able to find a seat.

Even during corona the service was speedy, got a hot americano with cream and sugar. Really went well with the complimentary chocolate chip cookie that’s, to literally die for. Take out is their main option and their outdoor patio has very limited seating so cross your toes if you’re hoping to sit with friends

Home away from home kinda place. Everything and everyone here is wonderful. Coffee, scratch pastries, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Top it all off with amazing craft cocktails. Phoenix staple. Youll want to spend some time here, but you can also grab and go.

The Lux Cafe in Central Ave in Phoenix has a vibe that keeps me coming back. Whether its for a morning coffee and breakfast, afternoon lunch, or late night meal and drinks. So far the pastries I have chosen have tasted freshly made, and the grilled chicken sandwich on panini bread is DELICIOUS! One thing you have to consider before visiting, is the space inside is very crowded, and at times you might be rubbing shoulders. Its very vibrant with always a diverse crowd, which I feel adds to the ambiance. Service has been good the few times I have visited.....batting a 1000. Recommend :)

They have good selection of drinks from coffees Lattes, and mochas to juices and teas.And if your hungry they have you covered their too. With a great selection of in house made bakery items and always several vegan ones too and a changing menu of in house made meals from soups and sandwiches and other specialty plates. And from my personal experience always delicious. And again always a few items for vegans. Lots of seating inside or out. Lux is a great place to spend some time and relax and enjoy a beverage with friends or solo

This is a busy hot spot. Bakery items taste freshly made. The icing in the blueberry scone was a little too sweet but my iced latte was excellent. The vibe was great. My only ask of the place is the provide more covering 9ver the outdoor seating along the building wall.

One of the worst experiences Ive ever had with a coffee shop. I used to like the ambience and come to work on my laptop. The coffees were good but always luke warm. But almost great. Definitely tasty but always cold. Beyond that some of the rudest most stuck up bartenders ever. I had one guy talk loudly about my friend negatively and then make mean gestures to me another time I was just drinking wine. I always tip nicely and I felt really used because I was tipping rude bartenders. I also overheard the owner talking negatively about a girl openly and awfully. I stopped going there after that. A real shame. Ive literally seen bartenders and baristas gossiping. It has a stuck up energy. Its not a down to earth coffee shop like the one near lost leaf down town that closed and was so neat and cool. This shop is obnoxious and ritzy and I really dont get the hype besides full of themselves.

Food and coffee were ok, the chocolate torte was a little dry. Coffee was way too hot to drink for about an hour. The tables were haphazardly placed in the gravel, there was no lighting in the dark, and someone was chain smoking in the outdoor dining area.

I used to love this place to due to the amble space to study, the eclectic and diverse staff, the ambiance, and not knowing of other cafes, when I first moved back. Now, it is being converted into more of a lounge with limited room to study. Its a cute place for a 1st date. The music is hit or miss and can be pretty misogynistic at times. I would put my own music on. As a vegan, there are very limited options. As progressive as Arizona is with many vegan restaurants, restaurants with vegan options, and how hipster Lux supposedly is, Im surprised that they only offer a soup and salad near a progressive university with a growing population of health, sustainability, and environmentally conscious young adults who prefer cauliflower wings and veggie burgers to bacon. They say they have vegan deserts but whenever Ive asked there is none. The service is so so. Most of the men are cheerful and most of the women seem like they are bothered at having to serve you. Ive seen other comments about service in other reviews.

I would give this place 6 out 5 stars if I could. We drove up to Phoenix from TX and this place did NOT disappoint. That chicken bacon jalapeno avocodo sandwich and burger that my son ate was the best meal Ive eaten in a very very long time. The coffee was even top notch. Will definitely come back next time we are in town!

Wow. Some of the rudest service I have ever experienced... and from the manager of all people. My boyfriend and I tried to go into the new “speakeasy” after hours of studying. We couldn’t find the right entrance and the manager told my boyfriend to go around and that she would meet him on the other side to show the entrance. When we got there, the manager looked me up and down, rolled her eyes and said “Yeahhh we’re full tonight.” She was also previously rude to my boyfriend when he was helping an older gentleman find his glasses. The manager rolled her eyes and wouldn’t help find the glasses. It was extremely off-putting and snobby.

The barista was very knowledgeable about the coffee, he explained every detail. He even helped out when I bought packs of coffee to bring home. The staff members were all friendly and accommodating. I was more than satisfied with the coffee. It was worth savoring. Well be coming back here again soon!

This place was great. Wanted to give a 4.5 because it was too packed. It needed more spacing and organization. I dont want to order then have to go back up to get my order after I put my stuff down. I mean why would I tip you. And I dont feel comfortable leaving my stuff alone. Other than that the music was great and the atmosphere was nice.

Here in this very coffee shop near the mall, I have always had my morning coffee. It was quite open and near my place of work. Compared to the other coffee shops in town, I love their coffee. They also sell delicious cookies, biscuits, and doughnuts, too. I love mixing their muffins with my coffee. Like salt and pepper, it was a great match. I recommend this coffee shop to those out there who love coffee!

Cute place, very tasty food, but its on the pricier side. I visited twice last week and their staff seemed a bit bothered to speak with their patrons.One unkind barista even verbally snapped at a pair of girls sitting next to me because one of the girls had taken a photo of the ambience whilst praising the beauty of the shop.She assumed the customer was photographing the employees but that wasnt the case at all. The customer stood up for herself, and the employee hid in the back...I dont see myself coming back tbh, but to each their own.

This business has n the menu orange juice in a Mason jar for 7.50. They were out of Mason Jars..substituted with a tiny cup and still wanted to charge $7.50..I know its a small thing but come on.

I had a really hard time finding this place. There are no signs and the entrance is in the back. Its also next to a vacant office.Theres nice artwork and decor inside but some major negatives. The seating layout is awkward and too crowded where youre forced to sit next to strangers that you dont want to listen to their obnoxious conversations. They kept playing the same genre of music which gets really irritating, even Starbucks has better music variety. The crowd seemed to be all ASU students trying to pretend study but spending more time gossiping. I prefer a more diverse crowd that includes people that work in the area of different ages.The prices are very expensive. My coffee was very good but $3.25 is steep.The AC was weak too.Overrated.

The food selections are excellent from fresh pastries to splattered eggs and potatoes or else their house specialty macaroni & cheese with peppers and - the Cheesiest.If you find youve had one too many cups of coffee and the jitters take hold, you can step into the full service bar to have something for what ails you.This business began in a much smaller shop about five years ago, and expanded into this beautiful place with art works and amenities that separate the men from the boys, so to speak.

Coffee is good! I heard this place was awesome but was overwhelmed by how many people were here. There was no place to sit and hang out. It seems like a pretty noisy place to get work done so Im not sure why so many people were taking up all the spaces with their laptops. It was also hard to try and find this place with absolutely no signage outside.

Between the oat milk latte and the chicken Pesto mac and cheese, everything was delicious. The only thing that wasnt nice was they made us separate because everyone was sitting too close. Pretty small and cramped. But cool vibe anyway. I would give it 5 star but the way they went about the social distancing rules made it awkward. They should just let less people in, they may need a bouncer.

It is popular for sure. Crowded but the staff is proficient at moving the line along. Wonderful blueberry muffins and sampled a raspberry corn muffin. So delicious withy iced coffee. My daughter ordered a breakfast sandwich, bacon, egg an cheese. Also 😋. I recommend weekday visits to avoid long lines. But definately worth a visit.

It was packed with no social distancing, which made me very uncomfortable. Ordered pies in advance and they were not done when I arrived to pick up. They did provide compensation by means of a refund and a gift card and the staff was friendly, so Id consider it again once covid eases up.
