Unbelievably nice owner. We went in for some coffee and started talking to the owner. He was very kind and knowledgeable on various coffees from around the world. Owner was able to help my wife pick out an amazing bag of beans to take home. We ordered the breakfast burrito and the calzone and it was out of this world. Some of the best breakfast we have ever had. Everything is homemade and we watched them rolling the dough in the back. Amazing coffee, food and staff. Don’t walk, run to this coffee shop!!
Walked up at 5:50am, the sun wasnt even awake yet, but John was!! Happily welcomed us in and was a delight. He is incredibly personable and knowledgeable about the beans!!!! Coming from a major coffee lover, this dude is awesome! Ordered a Lifeboat sized hot drip & my boyfriend got a large iced coffee. Very strong and delicious!! This will be a regular stop for me. 11/10!!!
Amazing food and coffee, the burrito is legitimately the best burrito Ive ever had. The owner is very friendly and great to chat with. Awesome place. Id give 10 stars if I could.
Great coffee, hot and heavy breakfast sandwiches, and a funny shop owner. This shop has a homey vibe that reminds me of grandpas house. Lifeboat is no pretentious hipster-magnet though which I thoroughly appreciate. Just a small business with a few regulars that like to hang out in a low-key setting.
This is a great coffee shop! It doesnt matter if it is breakfast, lunch or dinner. The food was always made fresh. It was delicious. The coffee was great and the juices were refreshing. There are options for people with all sorts of dietary needs so you dont have to worry. The whole family will find something great to eat and drinks there. The staff are also quite friendly. A must visit!
They blend and roast their own coffee in house and you smell the amazing aroma of coffee as soon as you come in. It’s The best coffee around. The dirty Chai is my favorite and has spoiled Chai tea from all other places. They make everything fresh to order and the service is always welcoming. Great for sending a unique flavor to friends or family they will even ground whole beans for you if you don’t have your own grinder.
Just moved to the area. Came across this place on a Google search and hopped in my car on a whim. Less than a mile away but I would drive across town for it. The owner is really nice, and its such a cute place. And a steal!
Thats a GOOD cup of Joe.Roasted right there. The place has character.
Disappointed with both blends of coffee ordered online. I’m always looking for new sources of really good coffee and was looking forward to trying Life Boat.I was surprised when I opened the first bag (Admiral’s Blend) and there was no aroma - only an acidic smell . Ground in a burr grinder and brewed in a Zojirushi machine. Still zero aroma. Taste was ok but totally lacking the smell of brewed coffee.Tried the 2nd bag (Port of Pearl Harbor) with same results. NO aroma). I hope this was a bad batch. Really expected more.
Lifeboat is the neighborhood coffee shop where they call you by your name after one visit. Food is excellent, quality coffee any way you want it, vibe is relaxed and the service is impeccable. Havent been to Starbucks since I started going to Lifeboat.
Lifeboat Coffee Co. is a quaint little mom and pop shop that’s definitely worth visiting. I go here all the time and it’s got a great feel to it. The atmosphere is welcoming and comfortable - it almost feels like someone’s living room (in a good way!).They serve more than just coffee too! I usually get a blended rebel and they’re delicious!
Great local coffee place. A+ coffee and food and excellent customer service. Enjoyed our visit today.
John at the lifeboat coffee company is by far the best host Ive had in Phoenix. As a Coastguard veteran, he has a lot of great stories and a great attitude about life. You have to try his breakfast croissant with bacon, it is excellent.
The staff was nice, food was good. I dont recommend this establishment if you believe masks are needed to control the pandemic during a surge.
My wife bought me the Out Of Africa beans which is one of the best coffees Ive ever had. Awesome vibe at the shop and the owner is amazing...veteran and patriot!
This place is a hidden gem. I went during my lunch break and found this place and fell in love. The coffee is great and the owner is amazing. Super friendly and full of life. I definitely will be back.
Superior fresh roasted coffee and breakfast calzones
Great little hidden place in the Slope. Great coffee and the staff was very friendly.
So glad I found this place! The owner was super friendly and very welcoming. It has an awesome laid back vibe, and the coffee was delicious. This is my new go-to place!
Best service in town. The breakfast sandwiches and burritos are amazing! Each time I walk in, the entire place smells like freshly roasted coffee and John is there waiting to say Hello.
We all had sausage egg & cheese bagel breakfast sandwiches and they were great! 2 of us had carmel iced coffee and I had an iced American and we all enjoyed them. Great place and will check out next time we are in town!
My favorite Cafe! Been coming to Lifeboat for about 5 years. Great fresh-roasted coffexcellent service! service! Check out their menu!
Excellent service in the area! I thanked you for serving me with a very tasty cappuccino coffee. This coffee flavor is my number one favorite, and I was so happy that you got my taste, guys. I like coming back to your coffee flavor again and again. What a nice service, guys! Highly recommendable coffee shop in the area! Thanks, guys!
This guy is the man. Really good coffee and great conversation. Go here before Starbucks, etc.
Great vibe and coffee! Support my local Sunnyslope small business over Starbucks in town everyday! Vet owned!
This place is a shining gem in the neighborhood! Coffee is roasted on site daily, food is made fresh to order and is DE-LISH! Its veteran owned/operated, everyone is friendly... its that place, you know, where everybody knows your name😁 I drive from North Phoenix just to get my fresh roasted beans here, its worth it!
Their bacon croissant sandwich is to die for, their coffee and chai is great as well.
Big fan. Really friendly owner and provided great customer service. He seems like he really loves what he does.
John is halarious. 10/10 definitely needs a raise. Mo money.
I travel all over the valley for work. Best coffee in the valley, IMO
The iced coffee was amazing. Starbucks got nothing on the Lifeboat!!
AMAZING PLACE YOU NEED TO COME HERE
Definitely one of my favorite coffee shops ever! The coffee is AMAZING, prices are GREAT and the customer survice is the BEST! The breakfast is very tasty and you can buy some freshly roasted coffee beans to take home too. John the owner is a great guy whos always cheerful and I always something good to talk about. Ditch the Starbucks and help out the local businesses.
Great place. Good coffee. Try the princess roast.
Very welcoming and some very good smells
First off, coffee was delicious and is roasted in house! You can see the roasting equipment in the lobby and it surely adds to the unique coffee house atmosphere. The staff was kind and helpful in navigating the menu. The vibe and theme inside is nautical, welcoming, and comfortable. The only critique I have is that it was a mess! The bathroom was raunchy and smelled of old fish. There was stuff everywhere and it didnt seem organized or clean. I would love to recommend this coffee house if they can professionalize and clean up their business.
May I as simply as I can say ... the welcome into this quaint coffee shop was perfect! The welcome matched the very well suited atmosphere! Being aboard a crew to serve and make way for something good!Meeting a handful of the “regulars” was a big side bonus !Being a barista myself, I stated to the owner that I was just in awe of the coffee beverages I purchased once for myself and a couple other visits, for my daughter. The ordering process is easy yet the choices are all so enticing ! The appearance of t he beverages and our food was that of a amazingly prepared brunch magazine page of breakfast sandwich sort! The quality exceeded the appearance! Holy moly taste buds!Full of robust and sweet flavor of the coffees and frappes and the refreshingly sweet iced teas, to polish off the food that willLeave you satisfied and ready for more at the same time, the next day. My thoughts to myself : I’m spoiled now ! Nothing compares! The hospitality and exquisite quality of fresh made meals and beverages was both entertaining and generously kind.I will continue to make my visits and I’ve currently been very pleased with the purchase I made of their in house and name brand roasted and fresh espresso !The most perfect flavors of espresso I have enjoyed !Surely and frequently returning to become a regular, Natalie
Love John. His place reminds of an old neighborhood bar where locals come in and chat about all sorts of things. While the coffee is the best i ever drank.
Great coffee place must check out
Friendly, talkative, great coffee and homestyle food.
Amazing selection of coffee and a great breakfast burrito! Ill be back👌👌
This was my 3rd visit to this wonderful coffee shop. Today I tried the sausage egg croissant-which and it was so good. Great food, coffee and service.
Safe zone, calm harbor in todays world.
Great coffee! I love this place they really do have a heart and a purpose behind what they do! I definitely recommend anybody who is in the area to check them out. I wish I lived closer I would go every day to support this great business. The owner is super friendly and helpful. Lots of fun seeds and a great environment to hang out in.
Just picked up a bag of El Cuco beans, dialed them into my espresso rig, and the results were too beautiful not to share, so I posted a video.
Fantastic service, delicious food, decadent coffee!!! Have been here many times and never been disappointed.
Great and friendly coffee shop! Fresh roasted beans and they sell K-cup pods. I come in at least once a week and always have a great experience.
Ive always felt welcome, and the service (and food) has never disappointed.
If you live in the area and are a dark roast person youll enjoy. If youre a light roast specialty coffee person traveling looking for a cool coffee shop, I dont recommend it.For the area its a good start, but this shop needs improvement. This place has to up its game if it wants to be counted amoung the 5 star specialty roasters. That said it is, a good option compared to most places in this area of town. The Guatamalain I had was heavy on paper flavors from the coffee flavor wheel. Some people dont notice this flavor, but it is a pet peeve of mine. The store needs to be remodeled and is pretty make shift, but I understand it takes time and money to get there and given his low prices, it makes sense for the area. I give it one star above average because of this and the owner roasts his own.I wish the owner the best. If this shop had been in Seattle, Santa Cruz, or Denver it would have received a lower score. I understand that he has to deal with a market that favors Starbucks and Dutch Bros so he cant diverge too far from the tastes of those pallets. Thus I would be remiss to knock what hes doing for the area.
Great coffee and great people!
This place is awesome. Great hospitality and wonderful service. Highly recommended. Great prices. They roast their own beans on site. Oh the rum cake is not only fresh daily but is the best Ive ever had.
One of the best coffeehouses I have ever been to, they roast their own beans for a great cup. Family owned and and operated, they show you how much they appreciate your business on every visit. Give it a try and Lifeboat boat will be your favorite too.
What a great coffee shop!! Locally owned and operated, family friendly. It is refreshing to support a small business rather than the big beast. The coffee they serve is better than most Ive ever had and definitely better then the large corporate coffee shops. And the owner is very entertaining.
Great coffee and great breakfast food. I enjoy lifeboat for more than just the coffee. The owner is always in a good mood and willing to talk. You can tell he has a passion for coffee, and upon asking why he started his shop he explained it had been part of a deal with a nonprofit group, so you know he has a kind heart as well. If you want non commercialized coffee, lifeboat is the place for your morning cup or your take home bag of freshly roasted beans!
The coffee is roasted to perfection by John (the owner). Best tasting coffee, fantastic home-cooked food, and a carefully curated atmosphere make this shop a hidden gem!
Awesome, old-time coffee place with character
Love this place. The coffee is a perfect blend. Not too strong not too weak. The owner is always very nice and has a large breakfast menu for very cheap. Love that he has pure raw sugar and everything bagels (my fave). They are the only good place open at 5 am near me. Would recommend to anyone. I have yet to try the lattes and iced cofee. Dont forget to always tip as much as you can!Update the calzones are amazing 👏 😍
Love their coffee all roasted in house. John knows his beans. Very nice atmosphere. Have a sit and a sip with friends. Did I forget veteran owned and love the calzones
Amazing coffee. Support your local business. Quick stop.
Really great iced coffee. I had no idea they have a great food menu. Staff is very friendly. Wont be my only trip here!
Fantastic! John made me a signature drink of his that was amazing! Slowpochino? Whatever it was, it was great. Also a great coffee bean selection, and they ship. Overall, very enjoyable little spot.
Great coffee. Great service. Veteran owned and operated. Will come back as often as I am in the area.
Absolutely love this place one of the best kept secrets in sunnyslope phenomenal food and coffee and wonderful service nice homie atmosphere Love love love it!!!
What a wonderful coffee shop. The coffee is great and the people are wonderful. Not sure I understand the negative reviews except for the fact someone is trying to make a political statement which is totally unacceptable. This is a Pro-life coffee shop where ALL life is cherished. Not sure how you can give a negative review unless youre just trying to be mean. Anyway, I drink their coffee and its awesome!
Neat little spot. Local owner roasts his own coffee small batches.
Amazingly delicious calzones, great coffee of many variety and styles. Down to earth vibe with great service.
Wonderful service, great coffee, warm family friendly atmosphere. I am getting the breakfast sandwich next time! Family night and live music on Thursday nights and they support those who protect and promote life. I love this business.
This place is awesome! Love that its veteran owned! Way better than any starbucks. Highly recommended if your a coffee drinker!
Awesome company. Small cozy place. Good drinks.
Great service, great coffee, nice place to sit and relax. They roast their beans in house and are very helpful and knowledgeable about the beans they sell. I highly recommend stopping in.
The absolute best Coffee I have ever had, the owner John is great and is passionate about hos product, fresh roasted on site, a blend for every taste bud.
Great iced coffee, great breakfast sandwich, friendly staff/owner. Disappointing to see that all, or most of the 1 star reviews seem to be over disagreements in political or religious views. I disagree with Starbucks political stances, but they have good coffee. Instead of trying to blast a small business owner, just move on... and to all the 1 star reviews, get a life and quit letting so much bother you. A little tolerance would be nice. Great job Lifeboat! Keep up the good work!
Nice and friendly place...
Awesome service, great coffee and spectacular atmosphere! Veteran friendly coffee house! Thanks John!
Great Coffee.!!! John the owner will always great you with a smile
I work nearby and hold all my meetings here. The owner takes great pride in his coffee, making the place feel very comfortable and helping our community. This shop is such a wonderful addition to Sunnyslope!
Great coffee and tasty snacks! Everytime we stop here to pick up a pound of beans and cup of joe to go, Im never disappointed. He roasts the beans in small lots of 3#s to ensure attention is paid to each bag. The owner and roaster is willing to impart knowledge on the beans he roasts as well as talk about the art of coffee.
Nice place. A little out of the way but worth the effort to go there. Good coffee and nice people.
Great Coffee and great people! Keep up the good work! Pay no mind to the negative reviews. Someeople just cant seem to just be able to disagree with the views of others and move on.
We order from Lifeboat and always have good service and great coffee. The owner is very nice and responds personally to any questions. Definitely recommend this company!!!
Way better coffee than any chain around! Fresh roasted is the only way to enjoy coffee, neat little shop.
This place is worth your dollar. Forgot the owners name but Im glad this place is here, hes got personality, the coffee is great, and the service is good and very personal. Its operated by the owner so who cares more about it than him?
Very friendly place. Good cup of coffee, good price
Cool little place I was lucky enough to find on Google! Great coffee and a cool place to just hang out and do homework! Definitely would recommend it!
Went to the lifeboat coffee shop last week for the first time since they opened and I wasnt disappointed. I ordered a large frappe for myself and an iced Americano for my husband, both were so good I finished mine so quickly I was actually bummed that it was gone so fast. I also ordered my husband one of their egg, ham, and cheese bagel sandwiches and it was so huge and hot I had to steal a bite...well I shouldve bought two because I wanted to eat it all myself it was so good!Nothing was pre-made or seemed fake, it was all fresh and so delicious! Ill be back for sure!
Very comfortable and a great alternative to the usual coffee outlet.
Hidden gem for sure. Friendly staff high quality coffee. Nice to find an actual coffee shop versus chain stores
This man is the nicest store owner in rhe strip mall. He ia kind to all people even though the homeless do not purchase much. When I write my book on my experiences, I am going to thank him in the beginning. Thank you for understanding that life does not always go ss planned. Signed- Kristi (in the wheelchair)
This is such a cute little shop. The coffee was amazing (as was the biscotti), the prices are even better. Will definitely be coming back again.
Shop was friendly, coffee was good. Unfortunately they were out of danishes, so maybe next time!
