Six stars, the service was excellent. The pulled pork sandwiches are out of this world. I live in Mesa and am more than happy to make the drive.

Inside the establishment was clean and clutter free.There was a male worker helping a customer as I stood there for more than 5-6 minutes while a female worker was walking around talking and laughing. Another customer came in and the female worker asked the customer if she could help him. The customer said to the female worker I believe that lady (as he points to me) was here before me.The female worker asked me what would I like. I said I would like 2 pounds of bacon. I noticed when she grabbed a hand full of bacon I saw where it was more fat than meat so I asked if she could grab another section.The young lady seemed to be put off when I asked for her to grab another section. I was hoping it would have more meat on the slices of bacon versus fat. Her comment to me was they all the same .The odds of me coming back is slim to not.

Super friendly staff to help you out of your new. Many side dishes to choose from. Youre going to walk out stuffed. Cheese cake if you’re saving room for dessert.

3rd Annual Pig Roast was again a success. Again thanks to these folks. I have to give a special shout for the woman who stayed late. I was fighting traffic and they were closed. But she stayed for me so that I didn’t have come back. Thanks Team Hobe Head off and filleted for a perfect pig

Stopped in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. My wife and I split a Tri tip sandwich with Mac and cheese. The sandwitch itself was fairly large and tasted great. The Mac was a little thicker and had that home made feel. They carry a large selection of meats that you would not find in most places. Ill be attaching a picture of the sandwitch and the menu.

Had a great experience inside Hobe today. It was my first time visiting and Taylor and Austin were friendly and very helpful. And kudos to the owners for making it a mask optional business. Not everyone in Phoenix has caught on yet, but congratulations on being at the forefront of this reopening and freedom to choose. We bought some bone broth and raw pet food. I will definitely be going back regularly moving forward.

Great experience. I called multiple butchers in Phoenix area requesting a custom ground beef mix. They were not helpful. Once I reached out to Hobe, they filled my specfics immediately (1/3 short rib, 1/3 chuck, 1/3 brisket) for a fathers day grill out. They gave me a great price and pointed out they have a simular mix made into patties in stock. I love old school, customer focused local businesses. I highly recommend them.

Taylor and Austin provided a great experience today helping me to find quality meat for a bone broth recipe and starting my animal on raw meat diet.Clean place, great products, reasonable prices and excellent customer service. I love the freedom centric atmosphere as well. I’ll def be back soon.

Got the tri tip sandwich & pepper jack Mac always fantastic

I just picked up a fantastic Smoked Tri-tip Sandwich to go at Hobe Meats Deli! This sandwich is BIG, full of tender, delicious beef Tri-tip with cheese and a light horseradish sauce on a fresh brioche bun. I have to say...WOW! The flavor of this sandwich is amaziing! It comes with a soda and chose a Mediterranean pasta salad which did not disappoint... Delicious! The price was very reasonable... I cant wait to try other things.Now, as for the meat that the butcher shop sells, yes kinda pricey, but it may be the best steak Ive ever eaten. The Rib Eye was extremely flavorful, and tender! I paired the steak with shrimp scampi for a Fathers Day treat... Extraordinary !

Weve been 5 times now and they have refused to cut us the portion we requested every time, requiring us to select one of their precut pieces (typically 2-4x what we needed). They also dont have chuck every time. The fact they told us it didnt come in lets you know that they are not a butcher, and do not cut their own carcass. Also like others have said, workers do not wear masks. Well be finding somewhere else to go

So this place it is ridiculous they give us 3.99 per pound when we placed order when we picked up they told us 5.99 per pound its absolutely ridiculous. Please dont waist your time and go to other place.

Got there 30 minutes before they closed on the day before Thanksgiving and picked up a prime rib. Wed never made this cut before and were a little nervous. Not only did the owner stop what he was doing to find the perfect cut for us, but he took the extra time to give us advice on his unique method of cooking it which we would have never found from any online recipe. It came out perfectly and was a highlight for us on a tough thanksgiving away from both of our families. Thank you, Hobe Meats!

Stopped by recently and had the best experience! The young lady that works up front was an absolute pleasure to work with! She answered all the questions I had and made me feel comfortable in my decision! She recommended some of the best meat I’ve ever had! I will definitely be shopping here in the near future because of her and the great service I received.

We come from Seattle to visit family for Christmas and for the last six years we got our prime rib for Christmas dinner. It has always been spectacular every year. The meat case is always filled with magnificent cuts of meat. Its nothing like the grocery store. Needless to say I got carried away and bought a weeks worth. It may cost a little bit more but were talking about the highest quality meats.

Stopped by today for the first time and was VERY impressed! The customer service is AWESOME there. I went in looking for meat that, unfortunately, wouldn’t be ready until Monday. Luckily, multiple employees came to the rescue to help find something even better and they were able to get it done for me while I was there. I got the most beautiful 9 lb. Brisket! Everyone was so friendly and helpful, the shop is modern, clean and quite pretty! Theyve got a beautiful sit down deli next door, Ill be going there next. My Mom has been going to Hobes since the 70s, this was my first visit, and Moms are always right. They will have my business in the future!!!!

We recently had sandwiches here and both were great. Ive bought meat here and the quality is top notch. They sell marble rye and soft pretzels that are really good. The quality of products is high.

Amazing meat and sandwiches. I wanted to dock this a star or two for uneven customer service but the food is just TOO good. This is also REALLY not crowded so I recommend it if you aren’t in a rush.

This is my go to place for good steak and other meats. I’ve purchased everything from tomahawk ribeyes to wagyu hot dogs. It has been fun to try some of the more obscure things they bring in from time to time too. On Saturdays we also hit up their bbq for lunch. Definitely a great local business!

You would think a place that deals with food handling would follow some sort of COVID protocols but not Hobe. Not only do they not follow any sort of protocols (not one employee was wearing a mask) but they also have a sign up at the cash register stating something about the 4th amendment and that if you werent wearing a mask that they would assume you have some sort of medical condition that prohibits you from wearing a mask and they cannot legally ask you to put one on (which is absolutely not true). I felt bad for the elderly lady before me who was wearing a mask while the 20 something year old girl at the counter had no mask in sight. They are actively going out of their way to defy protocols which as a food establishment is not ok. Will never be back.

Your one stop shop for any and all meats! Stopped in looking for a good meatball mix and they had it! The staff also explained why its a special. I grabbed some other homemade bratwurst, some butterfly pork chops and and tried one of their deli sandwiches. If you go you must try one of their sandwiches. I tried to smoke brisket which was just delicious. They have my business from now on. If you have any questions the staff can answer any of them.

Will never going back!! While I was there a customer came in without mask and stood around while people were ordering. The lame excuse when mentioning the non-masked customer to employee at cash register was that they had no control over situation. When I mentioned it was their store, employee said he wasnt manager so he could do nothing about it or show the customer out. This disregard for the custmers health and safety makes me very sceptical of their customer care, health and safety procedures. I will find another butcher with better health and customer care! It will be worth the drive!

We love this meat market! This morning we bought 2 baby back ribs slabs and polish sausage. Decided to check out the deli and ended buying sandwiches to go. That was a first. Got home and WOW!!!!! seriously, the sandwiches were FANTASTIC!!!! Highly, highly recommend Hobe Meats AND Deli.

They sell spoiled meat in their frozen Grillmaster pack. Both of the ground beef 1 pound packages were brown and smelled when thawed. I tried to cook it and it still tasted awful. We got this same pack a few years ago and the sausages were slimy. Great steaks but they will sell you expired meat in their frozen packages. Now I have to go to the store and buy meat again. Cmon guys, Frys foods does better.

I ordered a 4 bone prime standing rib roast for my family for Christmas. They brought out a 6 bone roast. I did not say anything as the place was crowded. They then seasoned it for me. This was Tuesday. On Wednesday evening I took it out and cut two bones off to freeze for later. The meat inside had zero marbling. They sold me choice or worse at prime prices. Good old bait and switch. I cooked it to medium rare Christmas Day and served. It was awful, embarrassing and ruined our meal. Should have known better as this was the third time I received low grade meat at prime prices. Just like the old AJ’s. Don’t buy there and if you do be very aware of their business practices.

The meat is the best ive ever had and the staff are incredible and very respectful.

Hobe Meats has a great selection of beef, chicken, fish and exotic meats. Ive purchased everything from Brisket to Elk Tenderloin and you can even order Thanksgiving turkey. Sign up for their emails to get better deals. Cant beat the quality of meats they have and great staff that always say hi to you when you walk in. Highly recommend them.

Stopped in for sandwiches on the deli side and some steaks and sausages on the butcher side. Had the Dreamy Draw (brisket, melted havarti, onion $10) and the smoked tri-tip with horseradish sauce $8. Wow! Both sandwiches on soft, slightly toasted pretzel buns. Included choice of side and drink. Lots of brisket and tri-tip. Meat was tender and juicy and pretty big sandwich for the price. On the butcher side picked up a couple of porterhouses and some sausages. The porterhouses were delicious. The man behind the counter told us they only sell prime. It was a splurge that was worth it. Not so pleased with the sausages. Linguica was tasty, but the bacon and cheese brats were so salty that even our teenagers remarked on the salt. Our polish were sticky on the outside and had a sour funky smell. Ew. We didnt eat those. There were also some less common meats, too...elk and venison that we saw. Service on both sides was fast.

This place has some amazing sandwiches and reasonably priced. The meat stack on the sandwich is twice as thick as the bread. The pepperjack mac and cheese is my favorite side. Excellent Butcher shop with a great variety. They have kippered Steelhead, elk tenderloin. Ground bison as well as a variety of aged and smoked cuts of beef. You can also pick up some good rolls, bread, beef jerky or sausages.

Shopped at Hobbs for the first time. They had everything you could think of for your meat needs. And more you must go and see for yourself you wont be disappointed. They are very helpful and friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Ill shop there for all my meat.

I challenge anyone to find a lunch spot where the quality and quantity of food received for the price beats the deli here at Hobe Meats. Try it and you will like it. More meat than bun and the sides are homemade quality.

This is a great go to butcher shop. It has a small mom and pop feel to it. You will be treated with a very high level of customer service when you walk through the door of this place. You will also find some meats here that are on the exotic side. Take a look in the coolers. This place is one of the coolest places of its kind.

The staff here are all amazing! And, thanks to covid, Safeway and Frys are expensive compared to Hobes prices.Great quality meat and great service.New favorite go to!

I did not enjoy my meat selections and did not receive the quality of meat I intended to purchase. Perhaps it was just bad luck on my part, but I can honestly say the Wagyu and pork belly were mostly wasted and not enjoyed. One of the Wagyu steaks should have already been removed from the case as expired. I’m certain of it.

Today was my first time in the store and let me say I walked into a wonderland the staff had no problems helping they were very informative and I didn’t feel like I was being rushed they are awesome sauce came all the way from Mesa to go there and I’ll definitely go back again wish I can give 10 star ratings

Just since the beginning of the year we have spent just over two grand at Hobe. Had a couple of hiccups with our orders. Nothing that isnt forgivable. We brushed it off. However recently we ordered two #12 rib packs. Along with a#11. Which we picked up on Oct 15. We got home and went through everything and discovered that the #11 was missing. So I called and was told that one would be waiting for me when I come back. Not the first time this has happened... Sooo. I go pick up the #11. I dont even get a we apologize for the inconvenience or we appreciate your business or even a kiss my hind ding. One of the rib packs was going to my aunt in Prescott Valley.. Again picked up by myself and taken to my home and refrigerated in less than 30 minutes. Later that evening, we packed the #12 rib pack in a cooler with an abundance of ice. As soon as we arrived in Prescott Valley the perishables went into a refrigerator. On Friday October 16th we grilled a rack of St Louis ribs. When we were getting dinner ready myself and my aunt tasted a rib and were discusted by the rancid taste. I immediately called Hobe meats and Brian answered and handed the call to Taylor. I explained the situation and was told by Taylor that the owner Brett would contact me on Saturday October 17th. Needless to say, I never received a call. So when I still havent received a call back on Monday October 19th, I reached back out to Hobe meats and spoke with Taylor once again. This time I recorded the conversation. Taylor specifically told me the owner agreed to exchange the two rib packages I agreed. And told Taylor that I would would be bringing them back the following day, early afternoon. So on Tuesday October 20th I bring both #12 packs of ribs back to Hobe meats. And then proceeded to get questioned by Taylor the manager that told me specifically to bring both packages back per the owner. Then Taylor says she has to call her boss. So now I get to wait... AGAIN!This is the fun part... Taylor explains that her boss said the meat went bad from the travel. HOW.? ON GODS GREEN EARTH CAN MEAT GO BAD IF IT IS NOT REFRIGERATED FOR LESS THAN 30 MINUTES?So after waiting for 20 minutes while they get my order ready... Which should have already been ready... I immediately freeze everything... Within 20 minutes of it being handed to me. And then on Wednesday evening October 21st I pulled the baby back ribs out of the freezer and put them in the fridge to defrost. And on Thursday October 22nd pulled em out to marinate them. And they smelled horrible. What kind of business gives bad product to someone that is returning bad product. I have never been so LIVID in all of my life. Not even a promised call. My family is done with Hobe meats!

Too expensive for my taste. Ordered few pounds of the pulled pork a little upset they dont provide some sort of sauce with your order no rolls etc.., 1lb beef jerky (beef jerky well priced and delicious), and a Reuben which was ok

Just had the Smoked Brisket Sandwich, side and a drink for under 10 dollars. Best value and good flavor for BBQ. I cant wait until my next cookout Ill be back to buy some of the steaks I saw they looked fantastic! Ill be stopping here more often and bringing my coworkers as well.

Hobe meat is the best source for prime steaks. I purchased their primo meats package for a July 4 party, and these steaks stole the show. The prices are already fair for the quality sold, but the packages are an amazing value if you are cooking for a group. They recently replaced the meat cases, so everything is clean, easy to see, and delicious. Everyone Ive interacted with has been friendly and willing to help or just have a polite conversation. Excellently run and I will absolutely continue to be a customer.

Great place! I love how diverse of a selection they had! The cuts all look amazing. Very simple shop but with lots of options! Their deli looked great also and I look forward to trying it out soon. The service was great as well. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. They dont rush you and let you browse without asking you a million times if your ready yet. They were readily available when I had a question. Much nicer experience than Ive had with other shops like it.

Unfortunately I stopped in based on reviews, asked for 5 prime strip loins @12.oz each while I was browsing around the store they packaged up 3 decent steaks then slipped in two end cuts @ 9 oz. each with the gristle vein running right down the middle of the steak. As an executive chef for over 20 years I cannot in good faith recommend this business. shame on me for assuming they have their customers best interests in mind.

Pretty darn good brisket sandwich. Definitely for a big appetite. Cant wait to try the pulled pork. Beautiful high end meats on the butcher side. Expect to pay for the best though. Definitely reccomend.

I went to this establishment and ordered a tri-tip sandwich and I was surprised by how fast the meat was prepared and I proceeded to ask the employee how the meat was warmed and he said that it was smoked about 3 days prior and then warmed in a microwave when ordered, I cannot believe that I had previously thought this butcher shop was so genuine in quality. I would highly recommend that you save your money and buy better quality meat and delicacies at Lee Lee international supermarket for a reasonable price.

My daughter an I were scrambling on Christmas morning 2016 around 9am to purchase a gift for the most amazing neighbor ever. (Busy year) We were in the vicinity of Hobe meats and I said that would be a perfect gift for him. We looked over to find the store closed as it should be but a man in the parking lot getting out of the car. We approached and asked if the store is open? He said no but it is for you now. What can I help you with. The gentleman opened the shop for us and suggested a fabulous standing rib roast. I asked if he would suggest a rub. He did and then at the end said lets throw that in on the house. I cant tell you how much we appreciate this gentlemans kindness toward others on Christmas morning. Weve always loved the store and service but this display of kindness needs to be put out there for others to know about. Sir I didnt catch your name (felt like the owner perhaps?) but we thank you truly from the bottom of our hearts. You have customers for life!!!!

Love the Saturday BBQ

Dont go on a Saturday or theyll yell at you because you asked for an opinion...I was so excited to go here. I love to cook and was planning to make a really nice Gordon Ramsey recipe for my boyfriends birthday. The recipe called for short ribs and I researched places the last two weeks to buy the best cut of meat I could...I walk in and there were a few other people waiting. The gentleman at the counter said it would be a minute and I told him it was completely fine. He was super friendly and tried to make some light conversation.A lady then walks out and asks if anyone could be helped, so I asked her if she had any short ribs. She said they didnt have any.... And then this is where things got weird. I was trying to explain what I was trying to make, she interrupts me and starts yelling at me. I look at her and ask, Do you have anything else I could use?She continues to yell at me, interrupts me and I tell her, its okay, Im just going to leave. Shes STILL yelling at me as Im leaving and its the most embarrassing thing Ive ever experienced. Saying, that no one is going to have what youre looking for. I look at her and yell back, since Ive already opened the door at this point, I was only looking for an alternative!And shes STILL trying to argue with me?! She replied, NO, you did not!Ive never been so confused, embarrassed and down right disappointed in a place. I will never return. I hope, they hire more people like the gentlemen who I first encountered. I should have asked to speak with another associate, but I didnt know what to do while someone was literally yelling at me, for asking what else I could use. Conversation went from 0 to 60 in a blink of an eye.

My wife and I had no were to go for Christmas dinner so we stopped by Hope meat to pick up a nice filet to bbq as we have several times we picked out one from the case took it home and seasoned it put it on the grill it just didnt look right when it was ready my wife cut into it and found a string like you tie up a roast with needless to say it was tough and chewy maybe 1/4 of a 35.99 per lb steak was edible not sure I will be back or recommend them again

I drive by this place just about every day on my way home and never thought once to stop by and try it. It wasnt until I was with my barber that he went and suggested to me to grab lunch from the Deli, he recommended the burger. Let must just say, WOW, the meat was so delicious and full of flavor, every bite got better and better. I also had the mac and cheese as my side and this was just as good as the burger! I will definitely be back again to try just about everything they have on their Deli menu. Just word of advice, they are not open on Sunday, :( .

I love Hobe Meats! The deli is a wonderful addition. I grew up in upstate New York where there are tons of delis. This has the old school deli feel and flavor. You cant see it but I have a happy face.

The meat quality is absolutely phenomenal. Had 5 different steaks and all were amazing top quality. Only bad thing is they forget 1 of my filet mignon filets.

I got the Biltmore sandwich with mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was oily and the meat was dry. Great portion size though.

Very good selection. Nice and clean. But the prices are way out of most peoples price range. Im sure they have their reasons but 10 dollar price increase of top sirloin cut per pound is almost 300% increase of price from butchers at a grocery store.

Bland and poor quality, overpriced..I dont eat meat very often and decided to check this place out. The meat counter looks good and the meat didnt look old, but the hamburger was brown, yuck!So I decided to get from the deli some tri-tip and brisket meat only, and this way I get the full flavor of the meat not disguised with a bun or slathered in BBQ sauce.No seasoning on the meat, very bland and grey in color it was pathetic.. The guy asked me twice if I wanted a sandwich, now I know why, so it would at least be covered in BBQ sauce.Save your money!Coming fromTexas where the BBQ is full of flavor and delicious! I am a connoisseur...I recently ate at Little Miss BBQ, and that was worth the wait and reminded me of real BBQ.Save your money, way overrated..At least the guy who helped me out was decent...
