The owners are very friendly and down-to-earth, they also have a pretty good selection and atmosphere for such a small place and do their best to get you a good deal for what youre looking for. There are also quite a few antique items, including a custom-made double neck guitar that I saw when I went.

This is such a great music store! The husband and wife that run this store are very friendly and were just wonderful in helping find what I needed! Its nice to know that they do guitar repairs there too in case I need that in the future. I would definitely buy from them again!!!

FIVE STARS ALL THE WAY. Gave solid advice on strings, tuned my instrument for me, cut me a solid deal, and even shared some promotions... but in a helpful non-sales way. Once I gain the courage I will perhaps play at Bob & Barbaras open mic as suggested.

Awesome owners! Needed alto saxophone parts on the fly for a fixer upper and they had everything i needed: mouth piece, reeds, neck strap, etc. Wonderfully friendly and quaint little shop. A true gem hidden in the heart of Philadelphia!

They are knowledgeable and helpful. I left the store with a feeling of camaraderie after getting help from someone else who loves music and not a clerk doing another days work or a salesman. A great family place for families that enjoy music. Talented kids take lessons and can play on instruments in the store. Not a big place, way small.

I just discovered South Street Sounds today. I was in a bind and needed to sell some used gear to make quick cash. Jeff and his wife were very accommodating as soon as I walked in the door. Jeff tested the equipment and then offered me more than I had asked for as he could tell I was in need. I was blown away! Unlike Guitar Center and other local shops I have been to, they didn’t offer me 50% of the used retail value (aka rip me off). I was very grateful to know a music store exists in the city not only to make money, but to help out musicians as well. I will definitely be back to do business when I have more cash to spend. Thanks a lot guys!

A great selection of music gear an instruments also a studio downstairs. They also repair instruments. The owner is a musician which really is a plus to be able to have personal touch of an experienced person to give you good advice.

Come here a lot for guitar strings and small stuff. Prices seem okay an interesting selection of instruments from lots of companies some over heard of many I havent. Had a few custom made instruments that were really cool. Definitely recommend any musicians in the area stop by and check em out. Ive even been told they have a music studio and offer recording sessions and lessons. If I have one complaint its that their hours tend to vary from month to month and even sometimes days theyre suppose to be open they just arent and Ive learned to always call before I make the trip over haha
