I just happened upon this store while going to the post office across the street!There were plants outside that caught my attention! Needless to say I ended up getting 2 plants and pots for the plants. Very reasonable prices! Ive been to other plant stores and paid well over $40 for 2 plants and pots. I was able to get 2 plants and 2 pots with saucers for $20.The store was well stocked and much larger than I expected. All of the staff that I encounter were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Great experience. I will return!

Awesome mom n pop establishment. Well stocked and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Upon returning to my truck, I realized that Id locked my keys inside. While struggling to try and pop the lock, the owner appeared with a clever gadget and got the door open in minutes! His help, and that of one of his staff, was even unsolicited! In me, this place has a customer for life...

New to this area of Philly, but this has become my go-to spot for projects and repairs. Incredibly helpful group of people work there and are always willing to spend time to work through any questions i have. Special kudos to Lucy and Stephen for help and always being happy!!!

This place is outstanding. The store inside is much bigger than what it appears from the outside. Straight ahead from where you enter is a help desk where someone friendly is always there to help you find what you need. They go beyond telling you where something is, theyll walk you there, talk through options and truly help you understand what you need.The owner maybe has an amazing story about how he met his wife that I only caught a glimpse of, but Ill have to go back so I can hear the whole thing.

Beyond helpful, they explained everything that I needed to do for my little project and they gave me each tool that I needed so I didn’t waste any money. They’re great! Will always come back for any hardware needs

Its very convenient and suprises me how much they have... everything and they will order something for you if its not available... and their price is usually better than the big box stores and the staff are very good and friendly, unlike the big boxes.

They have the most well care for plants both indoors and outdoors...customer service ready to serve with a smile and very knowledgable!😀

They are what hardware stores should be. It is well worth the trip. They always have what I need. And bins if nuts,bolts, and nails. Unlike the big chains. You can buy just what you need. Not boxes of things you will never use again.

Got a new Weber grill a week ago from them. Built and delivered. They did a great job. Two very nice guys delivering and one who put it together. I just stated it and it worked great. No issues. Initial burn in to use tomorrow. They do nice work.

Staff was courteous from the door. Assisted me right away. I think I was only there for maybe 15 mins and that included getting my items rung up.

I want to support this place and I have tried. Lack of selection and despite really good experiences in the past, the latest experience with the paint person and the lack of flexibility and accommodations for disability are problematic. We are in a pandemic and despite asking for paint to be mixed (with formula and swatches provided) and paying for it over the phone, the rudeness and inability to be flexible was awful. I was greeted by staff that was not wearing masks properly also. I will never go back after I pick up the cans of paint that I left...

We are blessed that that hardware store is still in the neighborhood I brought the paint to paint the statue from there

Excellent customer service and if you need a car key made, this is the place to go beyond the locksmith or the car dealers high prices. The person behind the counter made sure the car key worked before I was charged for the key! Impressive compared to the lack of customer service in some places.

The store is very well stocked and they have pretty much everything house items beautiful flowers and plants all electrical appliances.

They have everything you could possibly need, including moving supplies (boxes, bubble wrap, etc) and a good selection of plants. It is really spendy, however.

So...the plants and nursery stuff is good, they can order almost anything they dont have and the owner is a tool. But its still worth the trip. Especially if you like succulents.

Lovely people with knowledge as backpack... I they dont have something in stock theyll do a triple back flip forward in space (! I dont even know what that means, just flow with it, ok?) To get it for you. And they remember you. Tell me: how often that happens in your daily life when you get to them ...say, 1.3 times a month (averages suck, I made that up).I still owe you a painting! Very helpful salespeople, good stock of stuff, suffering from the shipping shortage right now but making up for it in local value.

I had keys made here and they didn’t work at all. Had to get new keys made at a kiosk in a pharmacy. Also they are a little rude on the phone and don’t make you feel particularly valued as a customer. Some of the staff have bad attitudes not suitable for customer service.

I bought some beautiful plants there. Right now during covid there doing a walk up window service but they also have a bunch of plants outside and across the street they have a green house with an even bigger selection of pots and planters. I bought two plants one was a cactus small and the other a heart plant with pots for both no bases to capture water but for all four products I only spent $16.. according to the prices I shouldve spent about $25 so I guess I lucked out today with great prices 🤗

This place is awesome. Having grown up in a small town, the hardware store is a local gathering place. Home Depot and Lowes are basically just the home improvement equivalent of walmart. This place, which I am astounded still exists in a city in 2021, may be my favorite aspect of living in Francisville.(Though, it IS super annoying when they close down the inside for Covid and you have to order through the window. So, Fairmount Hardware, if youre listening, try to avoid that Im the future!)

I was SO disappointed by my recent order for curbside pick up. I placed an order for two different trash cans and trash bags over the weekend on Saturday. I chose Fairmount Hardware and the specific items I ordered since it said I could pick them up the same day and I’d prefer to shop local. A couple hours later I received a phone call from an employee telling me that the one can wasn’t in stock and it would be there Wednesday, so I could come today for the two items or wait until Wednesday. No apology. When I explained I had ordered that can from them because I needed it today, he said sorry, but the website doesn’t reflect store inventory and it reflects warehouse inventory. I went over a little while later to pick up my two items. The trash bags came out quickly, but I had to wait for a while for the trashcan. When someone did come out with the can, it had no lid. I mentioned I ordered a lid and he said they were out of lids. I explained I needed a can with a lid and he said he’d go look, but he thought they were out. When I mentioned that I paid for a can with a lid, he said they’d refund me for a lid. Which means I would then be stuck with a lidless trashcan. He came back with the wrong lid. While he was looking I noticed that the rim of the trash can was all scratched. When I pointed this out he told me that is what happens to them, because they sit outside and suggested it actually wasn’t there (though visible). When another employee came over she told him that was the wrong lid and they went back to look for the correct lid. He came back with the correct lid which was completely covered in pollen. He said he could clean it off for me if I wanted. I said I’d take care of it and thanked him. He then just walked away. Fast forward to Tuesday morning and I woke up to see I received an email late last night cancelling the rest of my order, so now I won’t get the second can at all. I’ve actually never written an online review, but this experience was so poor I felt inclined to share. Next time I’ll go to elsewhere.

The customer service here has gotten pretty terrible since the pandemic started. I went to the service window to get 1/4-20 3.5” bolts and I was let in because the kids didn’t know what I was talking about. Instead of helping me, they talked within earshot about how I shouldn’t be in the store. (Well kids, if you’d have helped me or understood the product, I’d have been out of your hair in 30 seconds).I want to support local, but between the service and understandably higher prices, I think I’ll stick to Lowe’s from now on.

Great local shop for plants, and any hardware/home good items you have. They are not actually open for walking in right now due to the virus, but they have an order window and the employees will go back and check on items in stock for you. Ive bought spray paint, glue, and several plants/soil from here. Always a good experience.

The workers are so sweet and nice. Jeanie is the best. I have an older model car and needed a key made. She didnt have it and ordered it for me. And also called me to keep me posted. Also, Lucky is another amazing sweet worker.

Nice and helpful people who run the store. I called over the phone and went right in. They helped solve my problem when lowes didnt, which was the store i just came from. My ONLY problem is price point ....i paid $4 more each for the same exact product at lowes / home depot which i had to buy multiple of which adds up !!!

These guys are always helpful and know exactly where everything is in their store, even silly things like sink strainers! Also, Ive never had a place make keys as well - weve made probably 20 copies (probably way more) and they literally have all worked.

Wow...Fairmount Hardware has come a long way! The cleanup and reorganization has made a huge difference in making it an appealing and convenient place to shop. Im particularly impressed with the new plant and paint departments. I will definitely be a regular. Were lucky to have a store like this in the neighborhood!

Great overall experiences. Ive been going here for just over a year for everything from minor household items to items for my Handyman business. Always knowledgeable, friendly, well stocked with all areas of a hardware store.

These people are awesome! They saved my car from getting towed at an AutoZone. They were able to help me remake my 2005 Chrysler 300 after my original one broke in a short time and at an affordable price! Nobody else was able to help me, or if they were they would charge hundreds of dollars. I highly recommend them to anyone. They definitely helped big time. Great work!

They have everything. If you’re looking for It, whatever It is, check here first. The only other general stores I’ve ever been to that compare to this place are in Vermont and San Francisco.I did just buy *all* the vegetable and herb starter plants there, but they restock so quickly that you can buy them all here now too.

The staff here are always helpful when I cant find something or could use some advice. I once was short by about a dollar and as they were saying not to worry about it, another very friendly customer paid it forward and covered it for me, such nice people all around. Its great having a local business to support that I can go to without having to go all the way to a huge corporate Home Depot or Lowes.

They were helpful and polite however when I patronize such a small establishment over Home Depot I prefer them to be owner operated paying more money without dealing with the owner isnt the same service and the salt is Lost for me in the whole thing about keeping the small business owner and his store alive in America

Great old-fashioned customer service! There is always someone knowledgable here to help you with your home-improvement project. I brought in a lamp I loved but was ready to give up on because it worked intermittently. They figured it out. Ive brought other projects to the store and theyve helped me come up with the tools and items needed, plus they offer tips, tricks, and alternatives.

Great little place if big boxes dont attract you. The Descendants place to go if you need keys to be copied.

Oh my! In this small space they pack it in.The have almost everything you as a home owner might need. Definitely not a Lowes or a Home Depot. You will not find stacks of plywood or multitudes of kitchen appliances. They do have some wood and parts to put together or repair kitchens, bathrooms, etc. They even have plants and planters. But most important, the staff knows their inventory and how it is meant to be used. And yes, contractors do buy and support this business. Unfortunately in Philadelphia, many of these well run smaller hardware stores have disappeared. I hope that Fairmount Hardware has a lot of great years of business to come.

A small-ish Ace hardware store that packs in as much as possible. They even carry some electronic accessories like various cables, speaker wire, and more. The employees are helping. And they have a nursery right across the street.
