Love the outstanding personal customer service and vibe of our neighborhood hardware store. Dont be put off by its size and retro vibe-they are incredible knowledgeable and helpful. They made the local news recently for their partnership with Metuka Bread. They do a pop-up sale on Fridays with bread, cookies and other fresh-made baked goods for takeaway.

Mr. Cohen and his wife are some of the nicest business owners I have ever met. They have everything you’d need at this store and the prices are amazing. Saves me a trip to Home Depot. Another amazing feature of this store is that Mr. Cohen allows an independent bread maker to sell fresh baked bread on Saturdays and Sundays out of his store. The bread is AMAZING! You absolutely need to give it a shot. So many different kinds and they’re all amazing. I really can’t recommend this store enough 10/10!!!

Mitchell Cohen takes pride in doing things thoroughly, and correctly. I had a difficult project working with rewiring a European fixture that several electricians had turned down either because they did not know how to approach it, or felt it would be too difficult. Mitchell took on the project recognizing the challenges from the start, and lived up to his reputation for being the best. He came highly recommended from several electricians and I am thrilled with the result.

This hardware store is small but thoughtfully outfit with all the essentials. Everything is quality and the people are friendly. I always try to shop here for things rather than give a big corporation my money. Some people have also mentioned price gouging on n95 masks. At my work I was tasked with procuring n95 masks in bulk in March, and to be honest, around $10-$15 is how much the n95 and kn95 masks were going for even from reputable suppliers. Its possible it was price gouging but its also possible that they had no choice but to sell them at the exorbitant upcharge just to break somewhat even. I have a hard time assuming they would purposefully price-gouge given how many times the owners offered me less expensive solutions for house projects and their generally pleasant demeanor.

They have a good selection of cleaning products & protective masks on hand.

Been coming here for years. Mr. Cohen is always friendly and knowledgeable. He carries a broad inventory of quality tools and parts, instead of the cheap, poorly made stuff Amazon sells. He can advise not only on tools needed for home repair, but reputable handymen, plumbers, etc.

Great spot for projects. Ive gotten several items and pieces of equipment from this spot for apartment stuff and its perfect. The owners are knowledgeable and helpful in finding what you need and the prices are great. Theyre also equipped to handle larger projects it seems but I havent needed anything super big yet.

Its surprising how often they have exactly what I need at this quite small hardware store in Queen Village. The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly. Prices are a little higher than big box stores for some items but outs worth it not to have to search 20,000 square feet for someone to help me.

Not only are the prices highly competitive but the owners of this place are warm, wonderful people. I wouldnt think of going anyplace else unless they told me to because they didnt have something and they would do that. They are very straightforward, honest, kind and warm-hearted people. Cohens has been a family run neighborhood institution for decades. Ive been a customer there for over thirty years, and theyve always been extremely helpful. Aside from the selection youd expect from a mom & pop hardware store, they also cut glass perfectly, and do excellent and reasonably priced lamp rewiring (and are a great place to get pet friendly snow melt locally when a storm hits). Theyre extremely customer service oriented, and I cant recommend them enough!

This is the best place to take your chandeliers to get re-wired. They are much cheaper than me, so I dont even bother anymore: I just send my customers here. Cant get much more mom and pop than this place. Were super helpful finding me hard to find glass for an older window ( estimates were ridiculous) cut in house and fit like a glove. Great small shop for all needs.

Cohens is chock-full of every hardware and home necessity you could imagine! Had I realized they sold those carts that come very much in handy for transporting groceries and laundry to and from my apartment, I would have bought mine there and saved myself the slightly longer walk to 10th Street Hardware (that is not to say theyre also great)! I needed keys copied on very short notice, so I headed over to Cohens and had my keys copied with absolutely no hassle and for super cheap! Not to mention the key worked perfectly! I will definitely be back if Im ever in Queen Village and need any home improvement necessities!

Cohen and Co Hardware is price gouging N95 masks. I was told after calling that masks were $13.99 for ONE MASK. I was saddened to learn that this small business that I Ive shopped in in the past was taking advantage of the crisis this world is in. Ill never give Cohen and Co a dime again.

Ive been there 5-10 times since moving to the hood. The owner is very helpful, as youd expect from a mom and pop place, which I assume this is. But the others who work there are just as helpful, so if you have questions on a home project, they talk you through it end-to-end and help you pick out each item you need. Places like this are why people say shop local.

Nice to still have a neighborhood hardware. store.I go back with them when the had the large store were Blick use to be on South Street.. Family owned and great customer service. You can go in ask for something and they know were to find it in like the big box stores.

I used to love doing business here, but price gouging in a time of crisis is reprehensible. Especially when youre a small business who has no one but the local citizens to thank for your success in an era when box stores are crushing local brick and mortars. Shame on you!

Typical holdout-small-business-in-an-era-of-corporate-takeover. Relatively small selection at slightly higher prices than youd pay at a chain. The couple who own it are kind of...aggressive bordering on pleading. I also felt like I got the once over when I came in, which made me uncomfortable. But they gave me what I needed and I didnt have to walk too far, so...3 1/2 stars.

A little pricey but they’re nice

Not as great a selection of hardware and parts as 10th Street Hardware, but the layout isnt so claustrophobic. They offer knife-sharpening services, which are hard to find anymore, and they are more willing to help you figure out home repair issues than 10th Street is.Bottom line, if you KNOW what you need, youve a better shot at getting it at 10th Street. If youre looking for a solution to a problem, go see Cohen & Co.
