May change the star rating but at this time... theres a odd smell in the place like wet mold... no one is wearing gloves... no mask and eating on the line jaws open over there food...a man is chilling and drinking coffee no seeing or hearing anyone washing that hands. I finally get my platter And I rush out.... I know that the rice had no flavor but the worst part was it was the consistency of mashed potatoes. The chicken was mostly bone and gristle.... for $17 I was expecting a good plate at least and there was nothing but oil and dissatisfaction.
Walked in to check it out, originally was planning to only get coffee but the smell of fresh food was convincing to try something. I order and devoured a delicious and large veggie omelette. Was not expecting the such a large meal but it definitely hit the spot. Would recommend this restaurant where local have breakfast to anyone visiting philly.
This Was My First Time Experience As A Visitor From Alaska. My Husband & I Really Enjoyed The Service With Great Food. We Definitely Loved This Place & Will For Sure Be Coming Back Here Again.
I ordered the mega cheesesteak. I took it to my car and had a trunk picnic on 16th Street. This Cheesesteak had some good weight to it. This was a very wet Cheesesteak and I could tell we were going to have a roll problem. There was a good amount of good meat. It was a little thicker slice so you could really taste the meat. The cheese is almost non-existent. What really made this Cheesesteak was the extras. I got the sweet peppers versus the hot. The extras spent a very good amount of time on the grill getting to know each other and mixing their flavors together very well. Cheese and a roll that can handle the moisture and this is a very very very good cheesesteak. Oh yes, major roll blow out.
My waitress was great under great pressure! I am so grateful! A hearty, comfort for the soul breakfast! Prayers.
Nice diner atmosphere. Great selection. Not loud or noisy. Very good service.
This was the closest breakfast place near my hotel and it prefer to spend at local places. Didnt have the highest expectations but they far exceeded them. I dont know what they do to their eggs but they were the best eggs in have had on years. The bacon was ok, potatoes just potatoes but the eggs were other level great.
We had breakfast everyday during our 4 night 3 day trip. The food was hot and came as ordered. The staff were very friendly.
If I would have reviewed this yesterday, it would have been 5 stars. Everyone was so nice and polite on Saturday, the gentleman working there even helped me to get out the door since I was carrying 3 drinks. The food was fantastic, and they even remade an order when they noticed it was incorrect, without question to make sure it was right. Super and fantastic is all I had to say about it. So we were excited to have one more opportunity to pick up breakfast from there today. However, Today, I had to walk out. They were clearly a bit overwhelmed with lots of people/calls, which I understand. But the blonde woman on the phone as we walked in was rude from the start, rolling her eyes as we told her that, no, we were ordering take out and not sitting down to eat there. Them she was extremely rude, yelling at a coworker, who was busy serving tables and trying to also check out other customers. They proceeded to argue for a few minutes, using explitives at one another. And the nice server, asked if the blonde would help us check out, who disgruntled, walked up to check us out. But the prior few minutes, and feeling like we were more of an inconvenience than a customer...I left at this last ignorant move. Saturday crew...Ill come back for you any day!
Decent little dinner to get breakfast at. Their cheesesteak omelet was on point and their pork roll egg and cheese breakfast sandwich was great. My son loved the Belgium waffle. Very close to the Windsor Hotel, within walking distance. We would definitely eat breakfast here again and try out their lunch menu.
Breakfast was ok..It was your standard grits and eggs and sausage. Decor can use some updating but overall I wasnt disappointed. I would return for another meal next time Im in town.
Love this restaurant. Today we had breakfast here, the food was served nice and hot. I love the presentation I had the French toast w/ bacon and eggs over easy. Our waitress was Christine and she kept topping off the coffee. I love the attention to details. Please try this hidden gem. Philly has many great spots and this is one of them. Enjoy!!
Food was delicious, I ordered a platter and some extra sides. It was more than enough for 3 people.
Love it! Great food, delivers very quick and really cares about their customers! Highly recommend the pancakes and omelets, you wont be disappointed!
Friendly staff! Quick service! Out of towners will feel comfy here
Pancakes were excellent!!! Good service and friendly staff.
Down to earth joint. Low key vibe, food came out pipping hot. Reasonably priced.
We ordered two appetizers, two sandwiches, and one order of Buffalo wings. Surprisingly, every single dish was mediocre. Probably good for locals, otherwise I’m pretty disappointed
Excellent customer service and such great food!!! Best diner Ive been to in a long time!! Everything is super fresh and cooked to the customers order!! Would absolutley recommend for a great breakfast and also wonderfully delicious lunch and dinner foods!!!
The best little diner we found in Philly. Service was fabulous and food was delicious. Definitely recommend.
Strong and tasty coffee.Large and tasty portions.Updated and tasteful interior.
Food is great, the chicken wings were amazing. Food is a little bland to suit everyones needs
I just had the worst homemade fries in my life. I won’t come back.
We were staying at the Le Meridien Hotel and wanted to eat scrapple. It was a surprise finding that right next door at this cafe serves the best breakfast sausages and scrapple. The owner, manager, staff and even the chef were super friendly and attentive. They love to chat too. We went there twice and the place lives up to their excellent customer services. They certainly made you feel welcome and ensure that you will leave with a big smile, full belly and warmth heart. Cheap too. Highly recommend.
Breakfast was good! Will have to tell them lite peppers and onion for the home fries. Overall great the staff was awesome our server Angela was on it
Great place for breakfast, staff is always super friendly and talkative and the food speaks for it self! If you want breakfast food on first is the way to go in town!
I wanted a classic American diner breakfast and its hard to find in downtown Philadelphia! But this place is exactly what I wanted!! Amazing omeltte made with real eggs and not powder or portable junk. Fantastoc potatoes and goos thick toast with butter! So good and great service on top of it! Highly recommend!
The pizza place next door is an insult to cheesesteaks
Great breakfast place. Quick in and out and prices were good.
Staff is friendly and fun to be around. Loved the Tuna Garden Salad!
Wow! Lovely food and great service!
Fast service, poor service.
Tony, was awesome he she get an raise
I have been coming here for 2 years. They make the best scrambled eggs and pancakes in town. Only found a hair in my eggs once in 2 years, thats better than most places downtown. Just be more careful about that. But I will still come here for breakfast and lunch. Staff is excellent, super nice people.
Best service, the waitresses are the best. Its our favorite lunch place.
Eggs are amazing! All of it was really! Staff are excellent and very laid back. I will eat here every chance I get!
Absolutely amazing great food
Came here for breakfast before a football game while visiting Philly since it was close to our hotel. The spinach and feta omelet was great, and the grits were pretty good. Id have given this place another star, but our waitress seemed completely disinterested in serving anyone, and had a complete attitude, rolling her eyes with other customers when she turned her back to them. We had to walk up to pay our bill at the counter because she had disappeared before even giving us the bill. Thankfully the staff at the register was far friendlier than our server. Altogether a decent experience.
Good food but $$$. Use cash, they charge for credit. Great customer service.
Amazing and consistently fast breakfast delivery. High quality products and excellent customer service make FoF a great choice. (Haven’t yet sampled their lunch menu, but it looks just as good as breakfast.) Very early morning hours, even on weekends! In Center City! Beyond highly recommended.
Few days ago I was looking for something eat for breakfast after my Overnight shift just to end my day. So while I was walking I saw this restaurant and give it a try. I went in they were very hospitable and very welcoming, servers are well attentive. It is a good place to start the day here. The ambience is good. If you dont believe my sugar coating, try it for yourselves and have a omelette or pancake.
Great service and friendly staff
Been going to this place for the last couple of months. The food is awesome.
Very filling quick service!
The food was delicious and the staff was absolutely amazing and went above and beyond to accommodate us! Highly recommended ❤️❤️❤️
Hospitable and delicious, love this place
Very nice place to eat
Great spot to eat breakfast and lunch. I personally love their grits, scramble egg platter. I order about 3 times a week, lovely staff. You gotta try it....
Awesome service..Thanks for everything. Breakfast in bed much! Thanks for the deliveries
Great diner, delicious food. Bit of a hole in the wall so its mostly off the beaten path. Prices are super reasonable. A great place to eat.
So...my daughter and I were looking for a breakfast spot nearby in Center City, Philadelphia. She googled and stumbled upon this restaurant about 3 minutes away from where we were. The staff was very friendly, especially given it was a Sunday morning, around 8 a.m.! Our server was attentive and after I reluctantly agreed on the fish and grits, it was prepared in a short time.My hesitancy had to do with the fish, which was flounder. For me, flounder really needs to be seasoned up to even have any kind of taste. However, the fish was fried to a perfect crispness for me. Thankfully, with the addition of the hot sauce, salt and pepper that I added, the fish wasnt as bland as it could have been. The grits were a nice complement, with the butter and cheddar cheese on top.Our server, whose name we neglected to get was attentive and friendly. Should I find myself in the area again, I would definitely return again.
This place is awesome and the waitresses are amazing. They are always friendly. The food is really good. I love how the one cook speaks everytime I come in. This place really makes you feel welcomed.
Best French Toast I ever had in my life! I love the staff and management too! Just a good experience here!
Omelet was absolutely delicious! Potatoes and grits were on point. Fast and friendly service, will definitely be going back for breakfast regularly!
After adoption court the whole family came here to eat. They made room for a party of 20 people quickly. Service was excellent, the food was hot, fast and of course delicious. We came here last year when we adopted our oldest son too and it was the same way. This place is awesome in every way. Everytime we our in center city for business, jury duty or just hanging out we all will surely dine here.
The owner is really nice, and helped my family out when we were trying to find somewhere to sit. Food is great and the customer service is AMAZING! Staff are really friendly and kind. Come here for a nice family friendly meal!
Always good food.
We had a wonderful waitress, and she recommended the Philly cheese steak.... It was awesome! The staff was very friendly and made us feel like we were at home.
Super friendly and quick, but the food was profoundly mediocre, and I was offered no coffee refills. I got a patty melt, and the flavor reminded me of a White Castle burger. My friend thought her breakfast food was pretty meh, too. The fries were decent. Everything was... fine, but I could have spent my money better elsewhere.
Everything about this place is misleading. The prices are not as low as they seem online. The food was unbelievably underwhelming: The bagels were pathetically small. The eggs were noticeably undercooked. The french fries tasted like they were fried in last night’s oil. How this place has so many 5-star ratings confounds me. Given the quality of this food, the prices should resemble the ones online. Safe to say I won’t be coming back.
The environment here was so much fun! The food was great, and so was the service. Its easy to walk to if youre staying at a hotel in Philadelphia. Servers are knowledgeable about what drinks pair best with their dishes, which is always nice to see when dining out.
This place is amazing. The servers are so nice. My heart smiles so much from experiencing their consideration. The food is so good. I absolutely love this place and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to grab a good quick bite to eat.
Excellent food. A nice place to enjoy a breakfast or lunch. Simple decor, nothing fancy. Waitresses are pleasant and responsive. Prices are reasonable.
The food wasnt worth the price at all. I paid $15 for a bottle of soda and a mediocre (at best) chicken pesto wrap. The chicken itself was very greasy. I couldnt see or taste the pesto at all. Even the lettuce was greasy. The food was lukewarm, not hot. Fries were soggy. The wait staff are very friendly and helpful. They are the reason this review has 2 stars and not 1.
This is a good restaurant with that old diner feel. The place is clean and the waitresses are friendly. For those that are in a hurry and wanting to grab a quick bite to eat this is just the place. They offer prompt service (either eat-in or take-out) the prices are fair and the food is great. There are not many places like this in Center City Philadelphia.
Went today right before lunch. Our waitress was the sweetest and service was amazing. Had the steak omelette and strawberry french toast which was absolutely delicious! Thank you Food on First Diner for the great food and service! You rock!😊
Super fast service, super friendly staff, delicious food!! The portions are large and the pancakes are so good. They have a lot of turkey and beef breakfast meat options for people who dont eat pork.
Searched google for breakfast spot near Hospital since we had some hours to kill. This was the closest. We received a friendly greeting from the cashier when we walked in. Wasnt sure if we should wait for a hostess or proceed to a table. Cashier must have realized this and told us we could pick a table. Waitress, Scarlett, approached with a super warm greeting and took our order. Food was delicious. Btw the two of us we had a spinach and feta omelet, eggs over, home fries (she asked if we wanted onions peppers or cheese on them and I love that because sometimes I dont remember until after the order is already in) and sausage links and coffee. Everything was cooked perfectly. The cooks even gave us a friendly greeting. Prices reflect downtown location but are within reason. Love this place. Hope to come again soon.
I never even knew about this place until last years vacation, when I rolled my luggage past it on the way to my hotel. I never visited then, because my hotel offered breakfast (and I wasnt in that part of downtown at lunchtime). This time, I was on my way to Reading Market on Saturday morning, and remembered this place. It was open, so I gave it a shot. (One of my rules: always eat where the locals eat.)Very nice breakfast. The friendly waitress showed me to a side table, against the wall; even so, there was plenty of space. I got one of the mornings specials: a sausage-feta-and-tomato omelet. It was delicious: very well prepared, not overcooked. It came with home fries (firm and tasty, not overcooked) and toast (they do offer multigrain, which I had). The coffee was fine, and the server was generous with refills, which I always appreciate.Ill return there on my next visit; if not for breakfast, maybe for lunch!
Not the best cheesesteak in town. Can do better with the pizza. Quick dine in service
Thankyou guys! I love my breakfast
Came here for breakfast. Service is great. Food was excellent. I had western omelette and the other in group had cheese steak omelette. Both were very tasty. just right and fast.
Food was great. Service was impeccable. Our waitress was attentive and pleasant. Place was clean. I highly recommend eating here whether you are taking out or dining in.
Even though all the staff are working so hard, everybody, from the wait staff, to the cooks, to the cashier; all make time for small chat or a smile. Authentic Philly diner food, with large portions. Comfortable room, and cheerful decor. Enjoy!
My favorite place to eat when I have court hearings. There is never a long wait and the food is always exactly how I ordered it. The staff are always professional and in a good mood.
Best diner in Philadelphia! Breakfast is delicious, all staff is super nice, and the price is just right! $My favorites: Vegetarian omelette, home fries, and butter and whole-wheat bread.
Service was fast and courteous. I had the cream chop beef and my wife had the veggie omelette. Both were generous portions.
I can’t speak for others but I can surly speak for myself when I say their operation is not for everyone. I am very selective about how people prepare my food and if you don’t wear gloves I can not eat there. I had their fried chicken and it was THEE BLANDEST CHICKEN I HAVE EVER HAD IN HISTORY!!!!!!! The level of disappointment was at an all time high for me. The best part about the experience was the woman that took my order. She was so nice and very welcoming. But the food was not good for the price, and not to mention the large hairs still in the wings. The coleslaw was more mayonnaise than anything else so I couldn’t eat it. I spent $13 and didn’t eat the food. I am super disappointed after I have heard a few people speak highly of their food, this makes me question people’s taste buds. Chicken that only tastes like oil is not appetizing to me at all. No Lawrys, Mrs Dash, Mr Dash, Old Bay, Pepper, Salt or anything! It should be a sin to serve unseasoned Chicken.
Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. next time ill be back with my coworkers. prices were reasonable.
Good place! My friends and I popped in for breakfast/brunch before leaving the city. Easy to spot when walking, and service was good. The portion sizes are insane, even when you order good to-go, and isnt too expensive!
My absolutely favorite diners! Wonderful service - they treat you like famiky- consistently good food with a variety of choices on the menu. Ive been going to this great place for years and I highly recommend you do, too!
They were willing to customize the Bacon cheeseburger burger I ordered. The bacon was nice and crisp, the way I like it.
Such a delicious and friendly place! I never leave any review but this place, i had to! I’m from London and this place definitely impressed me.Thanks!
Good food great people
The food was delicious and everyone was really nice. I would happily eat there again.
Pricey but great quality and service. I pay the extra and they deserve it. The cashiers and wait staff are sweet and the owner or manager is very organized and nice. Ive seen them give cups of coffee to the homeless, comp bagels cause it wasnt buttery enough lol. The customer service is worth the $10 for French toast. Oh and its clean! So yeah, its worth it.
This was a great choice I made for a good hot breakfast and endless cup of coffee in central Philadelphia. The staff was fantastic and very attentive and I was never rushed to go back out into the nasty cold rain that I had escaped from. If I worked in the area, I would make stopping in here a weekly routine.
Great scrapple & egg sandwich. Soup bland and lukewarm. Excellent staff and quick service.
Went here with friends before we left Philadelphia. This place was terrible. I got the Eggs Benedict, so that was a personal experiment. I ordered the turkey scrapple as a side. The home fries were terrible as well. So why 1-star? Besides the nice service...1. Pushy with offering us coffee. I didnt even state I wanted coffee and it was assumed. Fairly minor.2. Home fries. These are terrible. How do you make potatoes taste this bad? Oh also, they charge you $1.25 for American Cheese. Once more no transparency with if I wanted american cheese on them or not, and at no point was I notified of any extra charge.3. Credit card fee of $1.00. Be sure to turn around after you walk in, because thats the only time youll see it- there and on the receipt.A shady tourist trap to bilk you of every last dollar through cheese, coffee, and fees.
This is my favorite place to eat after a day of being railroaded in family court. The food is terrific the service is fast and attentive . The atmosphere is exactly how it should be comfortable and relaxing.no hustle and bustle.
Food was delicious and service was fantastic!!!!
The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was so good, the prices are cheap and the service was fast. You cant go wrong!
Good food slow service, my water was empty majority of the time and our server forgot about us. We took our check to the front and paid at register because waitress never came back. Our food was good and reasonably priced
