This place is a gem! Jon and Marilyn are fantastic hosts and made me feel like an old friend. Im blessed to have made it to their store before my departure from Philadelphia. They have a great selection of clothing, shoes, jewelry and accessories, much of it with an Afrocentric and peaceful vibe. I highly recommend it for the fashion conscious and the woke folk!! Jon is also a gifted artist. Looking forward to performances from Jon and his crew in the future! Peace, Love and Music!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS DURING PANDEMIC!!!!My family and I just got back from a pretty horrible experience at this shop. A patron came in with their mask pulled down and the shop owner did not address it at all, despite carrying a conversation with them. When my sister and I went downstairs, the patron followed and then proceeded to pull their mask down completely, talking to their friend and breathing out loudly. I politely asked them if they could wear their mask, as the basement had poor ventilation and my mother (who was upstairs at the time) was immunocompromised. They left in a huff and apparently told the shopkeeper that they were indignant over my remarks. When we came upstairs, my mother asked what had happened (witnessing the patron’s outrage). We explained to her that it had been a pretty polite exchange that should not have been as controversial as it was construed. The shopkeeper overheard me explain to her that I did not think he would be so effected. There was no way he did not. We were the only patrons left in the store and the area is quite cramped. Still, he did not say a word.I then suddenly looked up at the shopkeeper and realized that he was not wearing a mask himself!!!! He had taken it off during our time downstairs. I was ABSOLUTELY shocked. He had just overheard this conversation and was still walking around a rather tight space with no mask on. He even within inches to my sister and started speaking to her with NO MASK ON. I was completely shocked and perturbed. What was even more bizarre was that the shopkeeper had a sour attitude with us, like we had done something wrong regarding the patron downstairs. This was especially shocking considering we emerged from the basement with quite a number of items for purchase. It was such an unpleasant and scary experience. We are in the middle of a pandemic, and as much as I want to support black businesses, I cannot do so at the expense of my health and my family’s health. While they have fairly cute clothes, it is NOT worth entering while they continue to be so lax with public health guidelines.Again, avoid this shop until this pandemic is more under control - when people are not dying by the thousands.RESPONSE TO BELOW COMMENT:Wow, I’m pretty floored by the response below. I literally cannot believe what I am reading. I really do not have anything else left to say other than 1. I would never, EVER take my mask down given my anxieties - ever. You must have had me confused for someone else. 2. You did not pull down your mask; you did not have a mask on or in sight during the entire duration of us checking out upstairs and 3. You somehow not hearing a conversation that was mostly in English, in loud voices, less than 8 feet away from you seems pretty unbelievable, especially considering we were the only patrons in the store at the time and the customer who walked out angrily told you that we had made a remark regarding our discomfort with them pulling down their mask and lastly, 4. The comment regarding black businesses was meant to show that I would love nothing more than to shop at one of the few black owned thrift stores close to home (because I myself am black), however, when my health is at risk, that becomes unfortunately impossible. Nothing more, nothing less.Tbh, “I know my status” sums up things nicely for me because it ignores the fact that there are large groups of people who are asymptomatic.I will agree that I probably should have said something before leaving. I was just too indignant at the time.Clearly, we will continue to have differing opinions on what transpired, but please do not misstate important facts. Like I said, your clothing was very nice, but this was a pretty unfortunate and scary experience for someone living with immunocompromised folks.

Found some cool threads. The staff is really polite and welcoming. The store supports his production studio. As I was shopping downstairs I heard a group of beautiful voices rehearsing. They seemed to be practicing for an upcoming show. I liked the vibe! Ill be back.

Thrift section can be a bit sparse, but did find a good find. Also, that day they had 50% off white tags which is most of their thrift section so definitely a bargain. Friendly staff!

To have started from nothing, I mean zilch, nada, Im very proud of what Ive been able to accomplish here. I was a teacher, after a number of weird disappointments, I quit and landed a spot on South St. Its been hard, its been tedious, and annoying. Ive wanted to quit it, stop, Ive been afraid and even upset, but above all that, I am grateful. To the dreamers, movers, and shakers, keep up the faith and stay away from all sorts of negativity. Pay attention! You got the good stuff, just dont believe the lies. You are made for it. I am proof of passion over fear and common sense. My store is just that. Come by and visit when you can!
