My 10 year old grandson and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour with Chef Jacquie! She was very welcoming and made sure we both enjoyed the tour. I loved the stops and samples. She provided information for ordering from the stores we visited. We were welcome to ask questions. She was very kind to include my grandson in the conversation. If I return to Philly, I will sign up for another tour with Jacquie.

My daughter attends Temple University and we were looking for something fun to do on our visit. The Italian Market Tour was phenomenal. Chef Jacquie is wonderful. She grew up in the neighborhood and gives her unique perspective as well as a full history of the market. After the tour, we visited many of the shops to buy additional goodies to take home. We highly recommend the tour and will be visiting the market again on our next visit!

Took the tour of the Italian Market with Chef Jacquie Kelly this past weekend. I highly recommend it. Chef Jacquie grew up in the neighborhood and has stayed connected. It was more than a food tour but also an Italian-American Immigration history lesson. The stops along the way were all delicious. The only recommendation I have is to bring a shopping bag so you can buy from the local shopkeepers and food artisans along the way. A fun and scrumptious afternoon!

I brought my 12 year old son to the Italian Market food tour for a Mom and Me day. It was wonderful! Jacquie worked around some food intolerances without any trouble and kept my son engaged the whole time. She showed us the neighborhood and the Market in a way that we wouldnt have seen on our own. We came home with some new favorite foods and some great cooking tips. I would definitely recommend the Italian Market tour, and Ill be keeping an eye out for other tours by Jacquie.

I highly recommend the Italian Street Market tour for anyone who’s interested in learning more about Philadelphia’s Italian history and culture. I was amazed at how knowledgeable our tour guide Chef Jacquie was! She grew up in the area and knows many of the local business owners, so we were able to learn some really interesting “behind the scenes” facts and sample some delicious food. Her energy and passion really made it a great experience. 10/10!!!

It truly was such an intimate experience, Jacquie knows each and every detail about the places you will visit; I can tell she has developed sincere relationships over the years. I certainly recommend this food tour for anyone looking to try something out of the ordinary, the experience is truly extraordinary!

My Fiance and I had the absolute BEST time! We were a little unsure of what to expect because weve never done this before. Chef Jaquie made us feel very comfortable and welcome. She was very informative on both the food and history of the area, which we thought was very interesting. The itinerary and pace was flexible to our needs. I have a bad back and am unable to walk very far at one time. She was very observant to this and made sure we were both comfortable. Were looking forward to planning another adventure!

My daughters and I recently took Jacque’s food tour. I had never been on a food tour before. The tour was two hours and was just the right length of time. We toured the area where Jacque grew up so she knew the owners of the shops we visited and we were able to see their product and obtain information on the food available as well as a history of the area. We had some samples of cheese, nuts, canola, and coffee as well as lunch of pizza with a little wine. She was very friendly and made the experience enjoyable.

What a fabulous experience with chef Jacquie. We took a private tour of the Italian Market and learned SO much, about the market, Italy and Philadelphia that we would never have known on our own. We also got to safely experience a big variety of stores, owners and flavors. Jacquie is an absolute delight and a wealth of knowledge. Truly a one-of-a-kind experience because of her personal history with the neighborhood. I dont think there is anyone else out there that could offer a tour that would compare. My friends and I had a great time on the East Passyunk Avenue comfort foods tour. Chef Jacquie was very personable and professional, and her wealth of knowledge of the neighborhood brought a personal touch I haven’t experienced on any other walking food tour. The food was delicious — fried chicken, arancini, homemade bolognese, and ice cream — oh my! The only bit of feedback I had, while reflecting on the tour, was that we had a small sample, considering the amount of diverse restaurants in the neighborhood. I hope to come back to try everything else, so I wish we had been able to try a few more places on the tour. However, we left with full bellies and big smiles. Thank you, Chef Jacquie, we truly can’t wait to visit East Passyunk again!

We had the best time on our tour of the Italian Market with Chef Jacquie! Given that we toured during the COVID pandemic, our tour was private, starting out with a food tasting then progressing to a tour of the market, visits to a few shops, a stop for pizza, and ending with pastries and coffee. We were impressed by Jacquies knowledge of the history of not only the market itself but all the families that make it such a vibrant place to be. We sampled vinegars, olive oils, cheeses, pizza, biscotti, chocolate, coffee, olives, and cannolis.Jacquie is a homegrown Philadelphian, born and raised in the south side of the city, so she was able to share interesting stories of life in her neighborhood. As others have mentioned, this is a five star experience. Since travel is so limited, we decided to try neighboring Philly and what a good choice this particular tour was. it was so reminiscent of European food tours but Jacqui made it even more personable and fun (I almost felt like she made us part of the neighborhood!). The stops and information about them were terrific so come with a couple of extra bucks for some interesting and quality purchasing opportunities. We like taking food tours in different cities to learn about the culture, history, and of course, sampling foods from the local businesses. Chef Jacquies tour did not disappoint. Jacquie has a deep history and knowledge of the food business, which is an asset that many other tours lack. Jacquie also seems to know every third person we come across as we walk down the street. No doubt this is because she has spent a good portion of her lifetime in the area. That day we visited Di Bruno Bros, Cardenas Tap Room, Tallutos Pasta, San Roman Tortilleria, Cappuccios Meats, Fantes, Charlies Produce Stand, Santuccis Square Pizza, Isgros Bakery, and Anthonys Coffee/Gelato/Chocolate House. Every single business went out of their way to accommodate us, whether it was providing samples, answering innumerable questions, or helping with our purchases. The tour had just the right amount of food to leave us neither hungry, nor overstuffed. It was a nice bonus that all purchases that day would be 10% off at each of the establishments. I left feeling enlightened about the South Philly area, and more educated about different types of foods. Definitely a 5 star food tour.

We always find our culture, across centuries, across continents, across generations, through food. Chef Jacquie is a world class tour guide, story teller, and foodie. When you walk along South 9th Street with her, everybody, and literally everybody, knows her and says hi. Thats the spirit and tenor of her Italian Market tour. This was our 2nd tour, this time with our adult kids (all four of whom are good cooks and know their food). I cannot recommend a private tour enough, even if youve been to the Italian Market before (tens of times) youll learn something and get an insight into how the neighborhood evolved. And if you go just for the DiBruno aged cheese or Cardenas balsamic tap room, its time and money well spent.

Had a really nice time with Chef Jacquie today. She had lots of fun knowledge about the Philly Italian Market! Only negative Id say is that the website says to come hungry because you eat a lot. For $60/head, I expected this to be true, but alas... I think we got two pieces of pizza 🍕 each only because my dad and I were the only people who signed up for this timeslot (which was nice-private tour), but otherwise, we got a tiny piece of Gouda at DiBrunos 🧀(I thought wed try a few flavors 🤷‍♀️), a corn tortilla 🌽(very tasty), a tiny portion cup of Gelato🍦and we could sample various flavors of olive oils/balsamics. We did get a mini cannoli, too. Not bad, I just didnt get full, as advertised. Nice info and variety of places, though, and it could easily be attended in the rain, as most of the street has covered sidewalks. Nothing was far from each other, so no physical issue with walking far, though I wouldnt recommend for handicapped (places were not accessible. ) Parking on Carpenter btwn 9th/10th (as advertised on site) is free, but streets are packed with cars, and a spot isnt likely. Theres a paid lot on that block, though; costs about $10. Despite the fact that they could feed you a liiiiitttle more, Id recommend this tour. Jacquies great. Mangia!

A longtime resident of the area, she conveys a wealth of knowledge with good humor; she knows the merchants, their stories, and and the passion invested in the products they sell. We appreciated the care with which she managed the tour during these COVID times; plates and cups were individually sealed, hand sanitizer was available, and she was careful to maintain appropriate social distancing. Our children gave my husband and I a gift certificate to do this pre-covid and we were finally able to do this. We live in NE Philadelphia and have been to the Italian Market many times. Still Chef Jacquie was able to give us insight into things we didnt know. We had such a great time and met some great business owners along the way. We sampled some very delicious food and even got to watch one of the owners of the Villa di Roma prepping their meatballs for the day. Jacquie was so knowledgeable about many topics concerning not only the Italian Market, but also the history behind what brought the Italians to the area. We even discussed the gravy vs. sauce debate. She grew up in this neighborhood, so she has a history with many of the people we met along the way. She makes this tour so enjoyable and when it was over we felt like we had a new friend. It was a great and memorable experience and I would highly recommend her tours to everyone - whether they live in the area or are visiting. You wont be disappointed.
