I found Shums by accident. I was looking to get a light fixed and they did it in record time. They have been my mechanic ever since. Amazing service, courteous and priced fair. Kevin is awesome and knows me by name, and thankful they got my car running after it was giving me problems for 2 weeks.

This place is very professional. The guy in the office looked more like a realtor than a grease monkey. He greeted me outside and told me where to park. The place was squeaky clean with five secure bays and plenty of work space. They fixed my transmission issue only after confirming with me that I approved of every service before they were performed. It was expensive but thats the kind of place this is, skilled workers doing technical work. Its not a hood spot that only does brakes, oil change and sells hot inspection stickers. If you cant do it yourself, dont trust the hood guys to touch it, then go here. But just remember, technical work is expensive and youre not likely to get much of a deal on it. Overall Im very satisfied and my truck is running great.

I came back to this place for inspection, after I left this first review, and again I had a very good experience. Kevin is extremely professional and knowledgeable and the shop is high-tech. I was able to pay for my service, which was very reasonably priced, on my phone. They also sent me a video of them inspecting my car and showing me each point.I picked my car up after hours with no trouble at all through a lock box. It’s hard to find trustworthy professionals in this business and this is definitely a winner! I highly recommend

After breaking down in NJ and not able to accelerate over 20mph, it took 4 hours to get me and my 2 year old over the bridge to our home in Philly. I called a few local mechanics in my area with my error code to get an estimate and availability to service. This was an emergency for me as I was moving that week and needed a vehicle. No one was able to service my vehicle in time. I found Shums on Google and spoke to Kevin in the shop. He is definitely the most knowledgeable, professional and empathetic person I have ever spoke to at an auto body shop. He is really on top of things, listened to what I had to say and was able to work with me on price/availability to service. I dropped my car off, it was serviced the very next and ready to be picked up much quicker then anyone else in the area could have offered me. Cant complain!! I needed a throttle body replacement. The price was little higher then I initially thought but I was just happy they were able to service it so quickly. Kind of sad I am moving out of state now, I would have loved to continue brining my car into them. Very clean & professional! Thanks again Kevin! 😉

Dropped my vehicle off a little after 8am for state inspection and emissions inspection.Received a call at 10:30am that my car was ready.The best part was it only cost $23.92 total.Kevin was very nice ti deal with and very professional.Will definitely be back and recommend to family and friends.

Great friendly quick service...they took our car right in with no problem. They sent a video telling me everything my car needed to be inspected and other preventitive maintenance items that i should consider along with the price for everything. I got to pick what I wanted them to do so I knew what it would cost upfront. I usually go to Dunphy but we found our new place!

I went in when they first opened for an inspection and emission, they were very friendly, professional, and helpful. My car was done within an hour and I did not have an appointment, I just called them, brought it in and was in and out! Very trusting, will continue to go back.

I called for a ballpark estimate for a specific repair that I know I needed but I dont feel like doing myself. I got a typical answer about how a proper estimate would require me to have them look over the vehicle and I can drop it off for a free estimate the next day. The next day I walk into the waiting room that is completely filled with a strong odor of carb cleaner and other strong obnoxious shop odors and Im told they will look at it if I have the vehicle here, a shake of the keys in my hand and telling them that its parked at the bays and the gentleman tells me that they can get to if if I leave it. I realized that they like to play games and I know enough shop tricks to say goodbye to that place. If you cant make time for potential new customers you cant time manage and if you wait til your car is disabled in their shop youll agree to any repairs they tell you to get it back.

I am the type of car owner who checks the torque on my wheel lugs after each visit to a mechanic and usually I can find one not torqued enough or over torqued (or a new scratch on my wheel).at SHUMS, I tried to catch them but they make no mistakes. Great place, work always well done, well worth the $$$.

Had vibrations above 70 mph. I could look over at my passenger headrest and see it jumping. Took it here and problem solved. 80 mph no issues. Runs very smooth. Very professional work and equipment. Very satisfied. And the video repairs is pretty neat as well .

This review is long overdue, but I just love this shop so much and the owners and people who work there are so incredible! They have been taking amazing care of my car for over 5 years now and I literally wont take it anywhere else in the city. They diagnose any car issues quick, give you a call to explain any repairs that may need to be done, and get your vehicle back to you super fast. My car runs like its brand new every time it leaves their caring hands. This shop is so beautiful and probably cleanest shop youll ever find in Philly! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

I have taken my 2015 Dodge Charger v6 to Shums for the past couple years and I have to say they are great. Very professional and flexible, especially with giving you options on how to pay for your car repairs. One thing I love is how transparent they are, they video their repairs and break down the cost for you. Kevin rocks!

I called Shums after being referred by lube master, a place that didn’t deal with my BMW. They were able to see me that same day and diagnosed the problem with my tires needing road force mapping and an alignment. They were super nice, helpful and explained everything even showed me a diagram of the diagnosis. Super helpful and I will be back anytime I need service on my car!

They failed my fiances car for inspection.They said he needed new brakes all around for $1,000.We took the car to an honest repairman who said that the brakes were absolutely fine aside from a little bit of rust on the rotors. Customer service is wonderful! They’re at the shop early enough to drop off your car before work. Went in for an inspection, they made recommendations for parts to be fixed but weren’t over pushing and overselling which I nervous about. All around great auto shop and would 100% recommend!

I visited Shums Auto for state inspection and emissions. Shums had this inspection and emission special. If you drop your car off before 9am and able to leave it all day it would cost $23. (Too good to be true right?) Kevin helped me and he was just so friendly. He even asked if I needed an oil change, which I didnt need at that time. As soon as I got on my lunch break (around 1pm) I received a text from Kevin that my car was ready. I was prepared to have to fight for the special and Kevin stayed true to his word. $23!!!! YALLLLL!! 23 DOLLARS!!! In the middle of a whole Pandoras box, I passed my inspection for $23!!! The average being $60. With that special, their respect, and friendliness I will be a returning customer. OH! Dont even get me started at how clean and luxurious the waiting room was. I thought I was in a luxury car dealership.

Probably the best experience we’ve ever had at an auto repair shop. We travelled up from Florida and an axel broke on our car while in Philadelphia. We had the car towed to Shums after reading the great reviews and that they know Volkswagen really well. Our car was diagnosed and repaired within a few hours which hugely exceeded our expectations! When we arrived to pick up the car everything was explained to us as far as what was done and even showed us the broken part. Very professional, helpful and very reasonable. Starting having issues with my GMC and they had me there the next day. Not only did they figure out the problem and fix it they kept me informed the entire time. I had my car back the same day and was completely happy with the price. The no contact drop off and the ability to pay online made my experience even better. I am making them my full time mechanic and would recommend them to anyone who asks.

I took my 2008 Honda Civic for an oil change. With the coupon in the mail, it would have cost about $23 after tax which is pretty good. They called and told me about other things they recommend to be taken care of such as replacing my tires, windshield wipers, and air filters etc. A lot was spent but worth the money. The mechanic explained everything professionally and clearly. Im completely satisfied with my experience here. Will be coming here for future repairs.

I have taken my car to over 10 shops if not more ( throughout 2year frame) and no one could fix my air conditioner or didn’t want to. Trying to avoid taking it to an actual Jeep dealership where they were trying to charge me almost $900, I decided to give one more place a try and it was Shums. My boyfriend took in the Jeep Grand Cherokee for me in July andI am so happy he did because they were able to completely fix the problem, air working like brand new, for less of a price AND the customer service was exceptional! I will now be taking my car here in the future because just speaking with them gave me confidence that they knew what they were talking about.

Absolutely fair. Unlike the dealer, they are honest and dont try to find additional issues with your vehicle. They are very knowledgeable with Euro vehicles. I highly recommend them. Think twice about going to the dealer with your Euro vehicle and take it to Shums.

I’ve been coming here for the last 2-3 years. Mostly for inspections. Andre is extremely professional in everything he does. Explains everything and giveS you the option to take his suggestions or not. Doesn’t hammer you into making a decision that you are uncomfortable with. It’s hard to find a mechanic that you feel is honest. Because they could really say anything and you would have to believe them. But Shum’s is honest. Only needed windshield wipers to pass state inspection and that was that. Gives you 2 options for wipers and a few suggestions like needing tires in the near future and let’s you decide which was you’d like to go without being beaten into taking every suggestion. I would without a doubt recommend Shum’s. Hope to not have to go back to a mechanic anytime soon but if I did Shum’s is my choice.

Had a radiator leak car was overheating let me bring it right over called me within an hour to tell me what was wrong and that he could have it fixed by tomorrow I told him that I had work so I would be picking it up after work he said no problem but he called me back later that day and said he fixed it already because he didnt want me not to have it for work .great guy and the price was right will definitely be going there in the future I definitely recommend him if you need a good and caring mechanic

Great overall experience! Saw this repair shop in passing, but didnt have the time to research for details on hours and such. Shums took care of that with a mailing that I set aside for a rainy day...or the day after I blew out a tire and needed a local repair shop that I could walk to and from. The receptionist was very nice, which accounts for the foundation of the experience. It can be difficult for a woman to try out a new repair shop, for fear of being taken for a ride so to speak. I didnt feel this way at all at Shums; in fact, the mechanic respectfully communicated his assessment of the vehicle and the recommended plan for repair and future maintenance. The car took a little longer than initially expected however, after speaking to the mechanic about the diagnostic process, I feel this minor setback was fully validated to yield quality results. I liked the ease of check-in, the text alerts regarding the status of your vehicle, and that there is a shuttle service offered (if needed) for local pick-up/drop-off. I got 2 tires installed, but they cleaned up all 4 beautifully! I was pleasantly surprised when I got in my car and saw a nice mug on the dash as a parting gift for new customers! The mailing was spot on in their delivery...a dealership-based approach with a local repair shop feel! I highly recommend you give Shums Auto Repair a try and see for yourself 😃

They will skin you alive, 543 $ just for an oil change, and replacing the spark plugs, and diagnostic test which was almost 200$ .Very disappointed. Lesson learned

I have a car service with a late model Lincoln with high mileage. I went to Shums on a recommendation from someone else in my line of work with the same vehicle and I was not disappointed! At 206,000 miles my vehicle feels brand new, it runs like it did when I got it almost 3 years ago with 28 miles on it. Great service, very thorough and professional. As my business grows they will handle and service all of my vehicles!
