Easy location with ample parking. Pretty decent amount of produce. Some items looked to be going bad. I was very happy to know they have a good variety of vegetarian products. Thats a major plus. Ill be coming back for sure.

This is, by far, my favorite Oriental/Asian supermarket in Philadelphia (at least within the city limits). Wide variety of food and outstanding prices. Even if youre not a huge fan of various Asian cuisines, its worth stopping in just to check out the produce and meats/fish. Very good prices and is always clean. Staff hardly speaks English but that never seems to be a barrier. Rely on them for several staples in my pantry.

Wide variety of produce, and great selection for meats such as chicken wings, beef, and even pork uteruses! But bring a friend that can speak the language. Or make sure you have a phone with decent translation software. Otherwise youre probably going to have some difficulty finding exactly what you need depending on what type of product it is.

I like the fact that theres free parking and I usually find everything I need. I would advise you to be prepared not to find even one person who speaks English working here🤔, thats a serious problem for me!!! Unfortunately you would think I should be use to this when it comes to a lot of Asian establishments. Especially if you are a person of color... Insert tiny 🎻 here... sad but true so be ready and thats why I rated them 3 ⭐.

I see lots of people talking about the staff and rude treatment. They should know thats how they run things. The staff have been there for years and dont have time to be nice to you, its not going to change anytime soon. Theyre Asian elderlies, what did you expect? As for the shopping experience, they change the layout too frequently, especially the freezer section. Products go on and off shelfs randomly so theres never a consistent selection. Their range of products isnt as extensive, more focused on Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine.

Staff is incredibly rude, especially if you go anywhere in the last hour of them being open, but the meat counter guys are pretty nice for the most part. Not the dirtiest market in Philly. Definitely best Asian grocery store on Washington Ave if youre not looking for very niche products. Just dont go there expecting to be treated well. Find what you need and get out. ALWAYS avoid cashier lane #1.

Nice selection of vegan and vegetarian items, though you’ll have to weed through the omnivore items to find them. Service is okay. If you spend a certain amount, you get a free gift at checkout. Nice touch. Some items are pricey, though definitely much cheaper than PoSharp Store (online) or Amazon. Produce and fruits a bit pricey, too. Not bad overall, though. I visit again and again.

This place has a big selection of Asian products with rolls of the same items from different manufacturers for you to choose from. The produce is fresh. Ive never bought meat so I cant review that department. If youre a novice to cooking Asian recipes & using products as I am, major suggestion would be to research & have your ingredient list, or recipe with you. Some produce items are so different from American items. And definitely more staff that can speak English would be a great help.

This is probably the largest of the Asian markets in the metro area. When I first heard of this place I thought it wouldnt be as big or as good. I was surely wrong. I really like this super market because of its close proximity to the BSL Ellsworth-Federal subway stop. The prices here are cheaper than H Mart in Upper Darby, and somewhat on par with 1st Oriental market that is also on Washington ave. The name of this market is Vietnamese, but the food within is a mixture of mostly Chinese with some Korean, Japanese, and Southeast Asian. The store music is Chinese, as well as the workers, so there must have been a change of ownership. It is definitely far more diverse than 1st Oriental market. I dont think Ill be going back to the H Mart because of the higher prices and of the shopping experience at the Upper Darby location.

This is my to-go Asian market since its the closest one by my house. It has everything I need like fresh veggies, variety of spices, and several ingredients from Asia. Sadly, there is no restrooms provided. The parking lot can be difficult to find during rush hour. A selective cashier can speak English. Most staffs cant speak English. Its hard to ask questions a lot of time, so you need to know what youre looking for.

Basically like everyone else stated, theyre super friendly. They have a selection of items thats to be expected of a local neighborhood market, plus a giant wine selection. Great selection of fresh produce and fish, plus abundant packaged imported goods. Great prices! The only downside is the oddly earthy smell, which Im assuming comes from a combination of the fresh produce bales up front and the filters from the live tilapia tanks in the rear of the store. Overall- would strongly recommend!

If you are near 6th and Washington and you are feeling the urge to be adventurous, this place is worth an hour just to walk around if your not familiar with Asian markets! If instead you are looking for a great market with pretty much anything Asian you want or need this is the place to go! Fresh seafood swimming in tanks, cut to order meats and all the produce one might need to do it right. One look at the 95% Asian customers lets you know they are the real thing.

Review №73

This is my local grocer now and I absolutely love it. To the uninitiated, the store is a bit daunting because not everything has that corporate polish that you see in major grocers. Instead of that sheen, the store has nearly everything you need for Asian recipes on top of having a pharmacopoeia desk for traditional medicines. Not to mention, they have smoked and roasted duck ready for pickup for a quick and easy meal. The butchers desk is somewhat intimidating as very few people speak fluent English but so long as youre polite and clear with your requests, theyre more than happy to help you.Really, its local grocers like these they help feed and sustain communities like Bella Vista, and its worth overcoming your trepidation about leaving your comfort zone for the sake of exploring a different world of cuisine.
