I used to love this place. So close to where I live and they have great stuff, but POOR CUSTOMERS SERVICE. I needed to run in and out. 10 minutes tops. I was grabbing what I needed and the owner grabbed it out of my hands and took it to the counter. He was so rude and not helpful. I saw it wasn’t what I needed and he then began to “try and help me” even after I said I did not need help. Go to Michaels honestly and get that 25% off or whatever of the many discount codes they offer.

I buy all my supplies here - CHALK included. The very best store for working artists, and im not sure that we as a city are worthy of how helpful the staff here are. I have witnessed them do everything possible to get the guests what they need for projects - always. Also during the pandemic THE store that held the protocol-line for staff safety and the health of the public. Vigilant. I respect that. The basement is haunted, but with great sales on canvases.

I absolutely LOVE this store!!! There are so many supplies!! You can also find items that arent as main stream, but unique to your style. They have such a wide range of art supplies that you cant find anywhere else. Even Hobby Lobby!

Forget the big name stores, they dont hold a candle to the variety of supplies you can get at this art store.Theyve got rows and rows of traditional art materials, from markers to ink and various forms of paint--watercolor, acrylic, the works. Great selection of brushes, various paper, and different sized sketchbooks. Absolutely worth the trip into Philly. We frequent this store as often as we go into the city because we can actually get the supplies we need!

Very very cool art store, incredibly helpful staff and most likely will have whatever you need for any project your trying to accomplish. Although it can be a little higher prices then other art stores in the city.

I love this store. Its jam-packed with supplies so I always find what I need. The salesforce has been extremely helpful with materials info when Im trying a new technique. Once when I was buying for a class I was teaching (although Im not a professional teacher) they gave me the teacher discount, which was super helpful since I was doing a class for a nonprofit. Oh, and they have lots of fun little things (and cards) that are perfect for those unusual gifts for quirky people (you know who you are!).

They have a lot of items especially brush pens that the bigger stores dont. And some interesting brands of paper that again the other stores dont have. Although the prices are higher on some pastels.

I’m not really an “artist”, but they’ve never made me feel unwelcome. Always very helpful, and willing to admit when they don’t know, rather than sell you something you don’t need. Most recently I needed advice on painting my pickguard. Despite being very busy someone found me ambling the aisles and helped me figure out what I needed and where to find it. He even found the little bottles of paint to save me some money. Very cool. It turned out great imo.

An impressive diversity of merchandise for a city store. Much larger than it looks from the outside, with a basement as well.

The hobby shop a few doors over was closed and took a shot here. Was greeted and assisted immediately. Staff was attentive to every customer and very friendly. The store has an impressive inventory and myriad of different crafts/supplies. They were even able to satisfy my needs for basic model building tools.

The main reason I visited this store was to buy purple and blue pens. I found so much more. The woman who helped me was very friendly, professional AND knowledgeable. The selection of pens of various colors, as well as other arts and crafts supplies, not to mention gift items is vast, to say the least. Also, the staffs commitment to keeping the store well-sanitized was quite evident when I saw another staff member cleaning the screen of the credit card/debit card payment machine. I look forward to returning to this store the next time I visit Philadelphia.

Awful customer service. I could get plenty of attention if my mask inadvertently slipped off my nose. In fact I was treated as if I had the plague. On top of that, I was stared at and followed around the store like im a thief or something. IF YOU WANNA TREAT SOMEONE LIKE THAT HAVE SOME BALLS AND ACCUSE ME THEN. NEVER NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO TO THIS HORRIBLE PLACE.

This is a neighborhood gem. The sales people know their stuff, they have most of what you need for any project, and they will order items for local pick up if they run out of stock. They do a good job of limiting in person customers to a manageable number at a time so Ive never felt crowded during Covid shopping, and the touchless payment and cleaned payment counter are greatly appreciated. Thank you for making stay-at-home an opportunity to be more creative!

This store has 2 locations: one in Chestnut Hill and one in center City. I had only visited the Chestnut Hill store until I stumbled upon this one. I love most arts supply stores in general, but was already fond of this stores Chestnut Hill location because of its helpful and knowledgeable staff. The center City store is even better. Its stock is a little more edgy and diverse than the Chestnut Hill one which appealed to me. I walked out with many purchases for my personal work and my classroom. I will not only shop here in future for supplies but for holiday and birthday gifts as the merchandise was surprisingly inspiring in this regard. Check it out!

My favorite art supply in Philly proper. It is a small shop in comparison to the chains, but their selection and service are second to none.

The only place to get that red kuretake no. 55 marker in my left hand. Leave your bags behind the counter at the front...small power packed isles with obscure brands you cant get at Michaels or AC Moore, and they have their stuff too...suprisingly inexpensive for being in touristy higher tax bracket area. A caricaturists best friend with prisma art stix!

Hands down my favourite art store in the city. Helpful staff, large selection of supplies in various media.

Brilliant supplier for all sorts of art related materials. They keep loads actually in stock and their prices are usually similar to or lower than online. Not the usual Blicks over priced half selection of nothing much.

I just discovered this place while killing time before meeting a friend. Its wonderful! They have a great variety of things for all interests. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable but not intrusive. The atmosphere in the store is calm and laid-back. Its a lovely little oasis!

I stumbled onto this place by accident, and Im really glad I did! They have a huge variety of art and craft supplies packed into a relatively small store. The prices I saw were all very reasonable. Ill definitely be returning.

Upon entering the store I was greeted with a friendly welcome and I browsed the store. I kept asking questions and they kindly answered without any problems. I felt like we werent being watched. This store have a quite impressive set of arts and crafts. I will recommend this place for anyone that has talent in arts and craft, or is getting into arts and craft.

This is an excellent art store. They have a lot of quality supplies and really good prices. The staff are ayoer helpful. Dont be afraid to ask questions in advice. Definitely worth the trip.

Theres a really great selection here. Dont be deceived, it may look small on the outside but its got a lot of room and theres a down stairs. They also have great hand made papers in smaller sizes for cheap and a lot of linocutting supplies that other places dont have. If you want something unique this little place probably has it!

Great selection of a wide range of products inside with a group of engaged staff always willing to answer questions. Its really helpful to physically hold and see art products as opposed to just ordering stuff online and I highly recommend doing so at a place like Artist & Craftsman Supply.

An employee owned artist supply store. The staff here are incredibly helpful and they will even let you sell some of your artwork here. They are always having some type of sale. Love this place.

Barely carries anything yarn related. Employees were a bit rude and seemed annoyed when I asked if that was the only place they had crochet supplies. The woman and the register was talking to another employee the entire time she was ringing me up. Didnt offer any type of greeting. In general Id say they arent customer service oriented at all.

The only place I go to now for supplies. Blick never has what I need and their employees abandon you when you need help. Allegheny Arts prices are usually bumped up way higher than necessary. Artist and Craftsman has the best combination of helpful and knowledgeable employees and quality products - almost always in stock and often cheaper than anywhere else. Also sheets of paper have cheaper bulk rates if you buy more - perfect for a printmaker like me!

I love this store! Im an oil painter and need stretcher bars, paint, etc. Artist and Craftsmen has a fantastic range of supplies at reasonable prices and super friendly, knowledgeable staff.
