For the #1 restaurant in Illinois by Food Network, I expected WAY better! We both had pork cutlet sandwich. It was so thin we couldnt see or taste pork. It was dry and pretty tasteless. The fries are VERY good! The ladies who work there are very friendly. I wouldnt go back! (Oh, and both of us got sick later in the day.
Found this place on a drive to the country road. The breaded porkchop most excellent, the root beer also good both home made with there home made fries. The place is cute and and the waitress friendly.

Great take-out foods. We got a cod plate, a horseshoe pork plate and the chilly bowl. All very tasty. I love the chilly!!. We put the fires and onion rings in the microwave for 20 seconds. They were amazing. We appreciate they take Covid19 seriously. Staff and cooks all wear masks.

This place is a gem! Yes, part of why I love the Igloo is due to fond memories of my family taking me here as a kid. But now as an adult, I can appreciate what makes this place so great. Few places make a better pork tenderloin. Or better fries. Or better apple pie. And I doubt anyone has better root beer. But the staff make the Igloo truly great.
Quiet Friendly And With Great Service With Delicious Food
Service was quick and friendly. Chili was steaming hot, tasty, but missing the cheese on top. Pork tenderloin was good-sized but not as tasty as we remembered it to be from years ago. French fries were very good.
Cant go in and dine without at least having a large plate of fries. Old school dining at its best.

Do not get Pork Tenderloin sandwich, just breading on a piece of maybe deli meat. Meat thin as a piece of paper, no flavor.

The Igloo has been in the same spot since 1936. My father would hang out here during his high school days in the early 50s. How cool is that. Their BBQ beef and Pork Tenderloin sandwiches are legendary. Old fashion shakes and malts are here. This place is an Illinois institution.
Absolutely delicious! I forgot how fantastic the food is here! 3 of us ordered tenderloins, 1 got a hot dog, and we all split a large hand cut fry. The rootbeer! Made in house, and so tasty! Hot fudge sundae and a chocolate milkshake split 2 ways, topped it off for 3 if my companions! None of us left hungry. I am so glad we have rediscovered the Igloo!! Friendly waitresses, clean restaurant, clean restroom...all add up to us having a really great lunch! Thank you!
This place is a complete rip off.. Over priced for basically nothing at all on a bun. The people in there were a little rude.. I guess trying to support a local business wasnt a good idea.. Next time Ill just go to burger king Lol

I am pretty impressed by this restaurant. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a polite waitress. Since it was our first time, she explained the menu to us, and then took our order. The food was cheap, quick, and very good. We ordered onion rings, homemade french fries -- which were definitely homemade and were some of the best fries Ive had, and some cheeseburgers. Everything tasted great! My only complaint is that there werent enough windows. Other than that, five stars for this little diner.
My wife has been going here for 50 years we now live 2 hours away in wi. But just drove there on the 4thJust for porks, fries and vanilla cokes only porks Ill eat
I just had lunch at the Igloo, which was my high school hangout in the late 70s. I ordered the same meal I always did back then... a cup of chili, cheeseburger and fries, and was instantly transported back in time! Great food!
I have been going here for more than 40 years. It has been recently remodeled, but still has a vintage diner look to it. Service is fast and friendly. I had my usual pork tenderloin with extra pickles and mustard and it was delicious. We also had ravs in broth, which are actually tortellini. They were great. I also had my favorite, French silk pie. It was delicious. The crust on it is great and the chocolate and cream filling with chocolate shavings on top are wonderful.

The PlaceThe Igloo is a true classic restaurant because I grew up eating here as a kid. It was alway the place to frequent. Times have change but the Igloo is still a great place to eat. The interior has had new chairs, tables and booths added. It is very clean and the restrooms have been updated.The MenuThe menu at the Igloo is a on par with most diner offerings. Burgers, Hot Dogs, Barbecued Shredded beef, Chicken sandwich, Fries, Soups, Salads, and then was always the amazing pork tenderloin. We had a little of each at this visit. Couple hot dogs, couple cheese burgers, shredded beef, pork tenderloin and a plate of fries. Overall our meal was good but I was disappointed in the pork tenderloin. This was always my favorite. Now its smaller, thinner, and less flavorful.The Experience/Service/ValueMy grand kids enjoyed my old hangout. They quickly ran through their quarters in the arcade. Our service was good and food pricing represented a good value. The owners need to work on restoring the pork tenderloin back to its previous status of AMAZING. Still recommend you stop by the Igloo for a touch of nostalgia and a good food.

I havent lived in Peru since I was little, but you can spot me back around town for an occasional Burger & Shake at the Igloo. Theyre homemade recipes havent changed and neither has their hospitality in the 20years Ive frequented this amazing local find.

Theres no other place like the Igloo.. I was there not long ago and it is just as amazing as it always was:) If it were ever to close I would miss it so!! Pork, fries, salad with v&o.. cherry coke! Prices are just right too👍
Foods very good and the owner is always friendly and takes the time to talk to everyone. My only complaint is the prices that always seem to rise. This place is a classic to Peru, IL.

Great and friendly service! Awesome food, and always expect to be treated like family. Prices are a tad over priced but I believe the unique experience from the food and service ends up making up for it in the end.
Food was subpar but the prices reflected that. My tenderloins were all breading and no meat. Burger was ok. French fries tasted stale if that makes any sense.Wait staff was quirky and friendly but our waitress never came back after taking our order. We had to hunt down our drinks, silverware and the cook brought us our food then left before we could ask for anything.If I ever go back itll be for a cup of coffee and conversation as the coffee was excellent.

Only thing I like there is the double cheeseburger & root beer. This place is run down and long over due for a makeover! Everything is overpriced and not worth the quality or quantity. The fries are not good, I like a hearty fry not some crunchy skinny piece of potato you call fries. Plus staff here is ridiculously slow paced even though its never busy and their skills honestly just lack or are not there. And last but not least my favorite...they dont take debit/credit cards..its 2015!

Came here to try the burger of the month. Previously I had said I would not return. OOh la la burger was edible. I know from kitchen experience thing are prep prior. My suggestion heat the prep food before you place it on the burger. The onions were cold. The cheese was not melted. The burger was not hot.

Ordered the pork tenderloin since its their special. Very disappointed. Not only was it a small sandwich, but my lettuce was thicker than the tenderloin. Fries were ok. Service was ok. Definitely not worth the price..😕
My friends and I ALWAYS visit when they come to town. Vanilla Coke, cheeseburger with the works and a large fry....Everytime!! So fresh!
