Incredibly knowledgeable gentlemen. Easy to talk to. Wonderful collections, great merchandise. An awesome place to get your kids started on collecting. I got a complete set of coins for someone from his birth year in a beautifully framed piece. It was such a cool gift!! Whatever your needs, talk to Jack. There just isnt a lot this guy doesnt know!!
They have a great selection.Friendly and knowledgeable staff.I would recommend Westlake Rare Coins to everyone!!😃Bruce Ferguson
Lots of cool coins and old bills to look at. Jack was very nice to me and my son, and seems to enjoy sharing his love for the collection with stories about what I was looking at. We will be returning again and again to add to our collections and to just see what treasures we can find here.
Do not sell your silver here, I went there to sell 15 ounces of .999 silver bars and they only offered me $20 an ounce, when spot price was $28 an ounce. I was insulted and left. I went to Pawn King and even they offered me $24 an ounce, which was $4 more than Westlake, which should never happen. The coin shop should pay more than a pawn shop. So I finally went to Wendys coin shop in Peoria Heights on prospect road. And they offered me $27 an ounce, which was $1 under spot. Westlake coins tried to rob me, and I am glad I refused their ridiculous and insulting offer. If you have silver to sell, go to Wendys in Peoria Heights. And btw, Westlake was empty, I was the only customer. Wendys was crowded, and I had to wait in live to get a price for my silver, because they do not rob people.
Great selection of collectible coins as well as gold and silver! They also have Peoria related photographs and memorabilia! This is the place to go for coins and Peoria antiques!
The owners, Jack and Dennis, are knowledgeable professionals in the coin, currency, and precious metals business. I have always been treated fairly and the prices listed are sometimes negotiable. If they dont have what you want, they can try to locate it for you. Some people need to understand that coin dealers need to have a profit margin. You cannot buy at market price and then sell at market price. There is no profit. They must buy at a discount to market then sell at or slightly below market. Otherwise they would have to charge above market rates for their inventory which would anger customers. The reason for a four star rating and not a five is because their currency selection is relatively small.
Guys are mean and inconsiderate....Tryed to ask for advice and the Coin dealers hungs up the phone and says find another dealer
I am a long-time customer of Westlake Rare Coins. I strongly recommend this Peoria, IL coin shop as the best in the Central Illinois area. There have been a countless number times where I was able to get amazing coins for reasonable prices. One recent example from earlier this year was a purchase that netted a 5-fold value increase once certified by a 3rd Party grading service. Amazing Quality - Amazing Value. Worth the visit!
The man inside is very knowledgeable! Hes also nice and wont take advantage of you! I took a coin in one day and he gave me $5 for it! He could easily have said $1 or $2 but he said it was worth about $10 and gave me $5, seems to show that he cares more about informing others and letting them know what you have instead of just making money!
Good day,Ive been collecting coins since I was a child, I travel, I attend expos, and every spring I tend to clear some stuff out. I made a phone call in regards to over 10,000 grams of silver, along with slapping an Australian 1930 penny graded well. 1 out of maybe 1500 ever found.($8000-13000 coin) Before I could even finish a line, I was being told, not ask why I dont sell it in an open market. Personally speaking, I prefer to do business face to face with such value. The owner an operators of this facility/business need to learn a little respect & integrity. I dont care who you are or what knowledge you possess, read this and understand you were rude and if I could give you a -15 stars I would. I would stay clear of here an never do business with these people.
Nice coin store the two gentlemen that run it are very knowledgeable and it is exceptionally clean
Great guys to deal with and honest!
I discovered Westlake Rare Coins two years ago and have been returning since! Extremely considerate and helpful in meeting my needs and always willing to go the extra mile to please! I never visit without learning something new.
A wide selection of coins to choose from and many good offers
I have never in my 30 years of coin collecting ever seen someone overcharge and under pay to this degree. I walk in to this place and the first thing I think is that its seems nice. But then I realize that there are no customers. As soon as I try to buy something I start to get an idea why. Overpriced. It gets worse when you try to sell tho. This company has carved its existence out of ripping off people who have no idea what they have and it is a shame to have a business like this in the coin market. My goal is to make sure that everyone I ever talk to knows that this is not the place to deal buy sell or trade coins. Furthermore I wonder if the a.n.a.knows what they do here. Go to Wendys and see jerry and he will give you honesty and fairness in every deal u make. DO NOT GO TO WEST LAKE RARE COINS.
Jack was very knowledgeable, friendly and helped my mom get the best price for her silver coins. A wonderful place to browse and learn about the history of the American coin.
Friendliest, most knowledgeable and fair guys youll ever meet!
Great selection of coins to choose from! Nice guys to deal with ! Good location!
