Treats, lattes, and good company always make studying easier. I’ve been here 3 times and each visit has been a 5 star service and quality rating. I like that they offer flavor combinations that others don’t. Today we are having pumpkin toast, a maple clove latte, a regular latte, and a pumpkin pie cup.
The staff was patient w me as I was super indecisive and remade my drink after I forgot to ask for it dairy free. Always conscious of social distancing and mask wearing so I feel safe eating here. Got the one of the specialty lattes: lavender rose honey and it’s delish.Definitely get coffee and treats here!!
Review Date: February 21st, 2017Upscale, not uphill.Zion Coffee Company is based out of Morton and has recently branched out into having a retail location for purchasing/serving their coffee. A good friend of mine alerted me that this location has opened… so being a coffee lover, here I am… writing a blog post about Zion. Now, when I think of the word Zion, images of hills/mountains come to my mind. Zion National Park, Mt. Zion and the definition of the word itself. What Zion Coffee Bar is actually a rather upscale coffeehouse that is hospital white with little-to-none decor/a feeling of spaciousness. The interior is rather spacey and open and they offer a semi-private upstairs area that overlooks half of the coffeehouse. That’s where I spent most of my time while here.Ok, so I am not a huge fan of the interior but what about the coffee? Well I had the day off from work and wanted to treat myself. So I grabbed a Jinotega pourover and a caramel macchiato. What I got was a decent tasting coffee and a macchiato that was more an espresso shot with a small wafer/cookie thing. The barista tried to explain that it would be a 3oz. shot of flavored espresso but I took it the wrong way and thought it was that much espresso in a cup with milk and flavorings. So I’m out $9 on two drinks and a tip. A bit miffed but whatever. So I sip the espresso and it’s decent for being so little liquid. Then as my coffee cooled down, I sipped that and it was pretty decent, too. As I am alternating my drinks, this lady has her kid there. No big deal, right? Well, the kid kept screeching every few minutes. It almost made me leave early, but luckily she left before that happened.Sounds like a bad time, right? Well after the kid/mom left and I resigned myself to the fact that I actually enjoyed my coffee a bit, my opinion of the place improved. On top of sitting up stairs and enjoying the view, I was watching the cook make oodles and oodles of delicious looking food. I also noticed they had hard liquor behind the bar. My friend told me they served alcohol but it was after a certain time of the day. So if you are not feeling coffee, they offer alcohol, too. This may be the first coffeehouse I have been to that serves hard liquor! In the end, Zion offers a unique take of a coffeehouse. It is the plainest one I have visited so far that offered okay coffee and delicious looking food… Yet it seemed to be a hit as they were half full/constantly busy for the two hours I was there. By all means, don’t let my ‘meh’ visit deter you from checking it out. I will probably go back once more just to see if I have a better 2nd visit.Stay caffeinated, my friends.Update: In subsequent visits to Zion, I boosted the rating from 2.5 to 3.5. While I still found issue with sounds bouncing off the walls, the deliciousness and quality of my drinks helped make up for it.
Drinks and avocado toast were delicious and gals working were so nice.
Every beverage I have ordered here is top-notch and made with love! They have seasonal specials that are all unique and absolutely delicious! The atmosphere is very metro but also welcoming and inviting. Theyve expanded their online store so you can support this amazing small business everywhere you go. You can even get signed up for a subscription on their website for monthly coffee deliveries so you can enjoy their coffee at home on the days you cant make it to their coffee bar! 10/10 getting my next latte from here!
Great coffee and atmosphere but seemed slow to get drinks out. Definitely not a quick drink kind of spot.Update: theyve been way faster lately and the drinks and food are still impressive!
Delicious coffee! The girls really take the time to made your drink perfectly. It’s also a really nice atmosphere, good prices, and easy parking (which is a really big deal to me!)
Probably one of the better cups of coffee I’ve had outside of Chicago. Great job!
This place is absolutely adorable.Love the industrial design, great lighting, and lots of plants (some for sale too!) Definitely good vibes. Plus they give back to the community, helping homeless people, etc etc.I soooo wanted to give it 5/5 for all that. But while the coffee is very tasty, it took over 15 mins to make two 8oz cups. Why so much time for such a small portion too?!Either way though, worth checkin out and supporting a small business.
One of the coolest places in Peoria! Great coffee and a great atmosphere 🍵
Coffee was good, chocolate croissant was okay. Its made elsewhere and brought in but it didnt have enough chocolate in it.
Amazing! Omg Im here right now. I just relocated from Austin, TX and really.miss everything about it. This place has Austiny vibes fasho! Best avo toast, matcha specialty drink, awesome staff, music, decor... probably gonna be a second home. I love a badass coffee shop like this for productivity.
This spot has everything! Unique drinks, gorgeous food, cocktails, and plenty of seating with lots of stations to camp out and plug your phone or laptop.
Any coffee shop where I see a roaster upfront and sleek espresso machine; that you still hand temper the shots is a plus in my books. This gem of a hip coffee shop is in the heart of downtown. You can take some well deserved time off to enjoy a fabulous cup of coffee or tea with decadent pastries. I love the vibe and the staff is very welcoming to boot. If you drive they have reserved parking across the way to park. Take the time to visit as I am sure it wont be your last.
Place very good for coffee. It is open and inviting with great views of the city streets. There is a light menu with pastries, breads, and small sandwich selection. They typically play adult contemporary music. Overall, this is first and foremost a coffee shop with a great espresso bar, great views, and open atmoshere....recommended.
What a pleasant surprise! This coffee is right up there with Stumptown!
This is what coffee dreams are made of. My partner and I stopped in for a light lunch and to get some work done in the afternoon and it was a haven in these “unprecedented” times. The staff was fully competent in social distancing/mask use and effortlessly bridges the barrier of the challenge or being a service establishment in 2020.But let’s get to the tea, anyone can put on a mask not everyone can create a coffee paradise. Which Zion coffee has done brilliantly. They have a beautiful space that is comfortable and unique to their branding, ample and varied seating. And good god the coffee is great! I thoroughly enjoy a specialty coffee shop having fun with their menu and serving drinks that are unique. The grapefruit espresso tonic was so good I got two. Staff was friendly and very welcoming. We both ordered toast, the avocado with egg and the seasonal veggie toast, while my expectations were low because cafe food is often neglected in the shadows of coffee, we were both pleasantly surprised. Best toast offering I have had in awhile, fresh, flavorful and beautifully plated. WiFi is great too.Zion coffee is a destination attraction for Peoria.
Small businesses like Zion are so important to communities and neighborhoods. I admire their community support and activism. I appreciate their dedication to being fun and welcoming to all. I especially appreciate their dedication to the health and safety of all of their patrons and employees. It takes a village to get through a global pandemic, and they have served as a beacon of light, a shining example of how to value a community during a time of crisis. Thank you for being awesome, Zion. ❤️
Great coffee, a little pricey but a nice atmosphere.
The atmosphere is calming with many pretty succulent plants. The Ube latte is 💜🥰. Many subtle flavors add to the coffee there.
I love their coffee/teas/food, and they have an amazing environment. I love to go work/read and also hang out with friends. One thing I noticed is that sometimes it can get very loud and sometimes that may be a bit distracting if you want to concentrate, but nothing your earbuds and relaxing music cant fix. I still love it.
This place is a must-try, its awesome, well designed, and the employees are very friendly. Among other offerings the critical ones for me are T that they serve both coffee and cocktails here so this could quickly become a favorite place of mine. I havent tried any of the food yet but everything Ive seen looked gorgeous and the smells were great too!
Very Vibey Spot in the Warehouse District!! Good Coffee!
I live local and have somehow just never made it over to Zion. My first experience was yesterday, and everything was great. The baristas were very friendly and patient with me (i’m the most indecisive person ever). They gave me some recommendations and I went with it. I got toast and an iced miel. I’ve had a lot of miels in my life, but none that have ever tasted that good! I love the environment as well. You need to visit this place!
This place was a gem! The Sweet potato 🍠 pie latte was delish! Such a creative & festive flavor to bring to life in a latte. Will definitely be back when Im back in Peoria!
Wonderful coffee. Good place to people watch and make your grocery list. Tiny people (toddlers) come in dressed like jcrew models or lumberjacks sometimes. Good place to get married IMO. Uppity staff, as in sometimes they’ll bring your coffee uppity stairs to you since they’re so thoughtful. Zion is my happy place that has given me so many still moments, great conversations, and countless medium-sized cups of much needed caffeine.
My husband and I stopped there because we love checking out local coffee places. The shop is beautiful but honestly, its the worst coffee Ive ever had. We also bought beans to try at home and had to throw them away because they were so burnt tasting. I really wanted to like it but we wasted $30 on coffee and beans we couldnt even drink.
Zion is excellent in quality, and Banu has an enormous heart. Im so glad that they are a part of our community.
Ive only been here once and it was a chilly day where everything inside was shut down for the most part (due to COVID). But Zion has outside seating which was nice. Seemed like a really nice place.
Lovely place and staff!
Coffee was good. Got there close to closing time. Didnt feel all that welcome.
Girl at the register was completely 100% rude. I have been in here and ordered and waited outside for coffee more than once (I cant wear a mask) she completely refused me service. Disgracefully rude. Not returning.
My favorite coffee shop in Peoria! The workers are so sweet and the atmosphere (both inside and out) is exactly what I was looking for when I work outside the home. If its your first time get the seasonal drink and sourdough toast with whipped ricotta and local honey. Youre welcome ;)
We had a great outdoor dining experience back in the summer! Our family truly enjoyed Zion Coffee Bar!
Love Zion!! Great coffee, cocktails, food and service!
Zion is my personal favorite local coffee shop. A must stop if you’re going through Peoria. I typically get the iced americano. It’s fantastic. My girlfriend loves their lemonade. Awesome atmosphere right in downtown Peoria. Drinks are cheaper than Starbucks and far better.
Zion is that haven you go to with the most polite customer service, literal best tasting coffee. Ive never had a poor or even mediocre experience there, and continually throughout the pandemic they have overcome barriers and still found a way to provide outstanding service while maintaining consistency in this weird world.
Good cup of coffee ☕. I would go back if the opportunity arose.
Super friendly staff and delicious drinks!
Dont be fooled by the 5 star ratings. It maybe clean and pretty on the inside but they lack a selection of drinks and service. The Staff look like they never shower or wash their faces. Sorry guys the smell of bacon in a coffee shop total turn away. Im pretty sure the other ratings are from their own staff members and friends. Heres a more random public perspective. If your going to show off your modern look at least back it up with good coffee and not make it look like some corner side high end bar from California. It doesnt work. Your better off making your own coffee at home or Starbucks. More money spent on a look rather than the coffee is retarded.
Coffee, food & flavors that you can’t find anywhere else in Central Illinois! Top notch.
Their coffee is great, and their food is absolutely amazing! I love the energy here and will always return.
They would not serve nor allow me to order without a mask. Since I had parked one block away (because the parking is SUPER inconvenient for little Peoria), I bought one to save the walk there and back. They need to stop being so uppity with their stuck up attitudes. When the weather gets bad and there are only two customers that darken their door during the dead of winter, they may change their attitudes about ordering without masks. I go everywhere else in town without wearing one, so I dunno. On a side note, the coffee served in tiny cups was nothing special.
Hey! Peoria is now home to a highly Instagram-able coffee shop! And they serve alcohol? Cool. Their drip coffee is nothing to come back for in my opinion, BUT their lattes + cappuccinos are nice to sip on in this bright, open space.Theyve got a pretty tasty matcha green tea latte, all of their in-house cups of hot whatever come with these tasty little butter cookies, and the place usually smells like warm, toasty bread!Whats not to like? Well, the abundance of FROSTA stools from Ikea because TRULY your girls back hurts from just looking at the seating in this place.Buuuut the general aesthetic of Zion is such that you cant help but want to come back, sore spine and all. The employees wear black, but their general demeanor is anything but dark; Ive never NOT felt welcomed by the baristas here. For visitors to Peoria: it would be a shame for you to not come here, you dig? What else would you post on Instagram? Potholes?
My nitro cold brew with oat milk was served perfectly with the honey stirred in. Avocado toast was delicious on sourdough and I added an egg, a bit too much salt on it though.
Great coffee. Roast on site. Great pour over selections.
Such a great place to hang out, enjoy good company, take some photos, and get some work done. Great food and drinks as well, you won’t be disappointed. I ended up going to Zion one day last February because I had heard great things about it and wanted to try something other than Starbucks, and just so happened to end up sitting next to the owners. They are the nicest, most genuine, friendly people I’ve ever met who genuinely care about their customers and their passion for their business. Sadly I have never been able to make it back after that one time due to me moving out of Peoria, but I still follow them on Instagram and love what I see in their passion and care for their customers and community. If I ever visit Peoria again, I’m making a stop at Zion for sure. Support your local businesses!
A really chill place
As a home roaster/brewer/barista, I was disappointed by my first visit to such a trendy coffee shop. I got a double shot of espresso and some drip coffee ( they werent doing pour over ). The espresso roast was a little light for me but I guess thats preference, but I think it was also under-extracted. Nice sweetness though. The regular coffee was horribly weak and dull.
It was good, did not order anything
Perfect modern coffee bar! I had the opportunity to visit Zion Coffee Bar twice recently and both times was very impressed. Zion is a perfect representation of a what a modern coffee shop can be and should aspire to. Both times I visited Zion it was very busy. However, I didnt feel that it deterred from my experience. The atmosphere is very crisp, clean, and fresh here. Many people around me were on the computers working and I feel that Zions atmosphere would be very encouraging for generating new ideas. The openness of the shop is what I enjoyed most though. The coffee bar is directly located in the middle and the roaster is feet away from behind glass walls. I was very impressed by the overall presentation.Zion Coffee Bars overall look though only enhances the fact that they know what theyre doing when it comes to coffee. I ordered a vanilla latte and it was very delicious. The latte was presented in a glass similar to a high ball glass, which made for an impressive display. The latte was very delicious too! I even decided to purchase a 4oz bag of coffee, which I have used twice now, and was also equally impressive.Zion Coffee Bar is a gem of coffee shops and shows what the future of coffee can be.
Really pretty inside. Good drinks. The service was good. And also lovely Atmosphere. I wanted to take so many photos.
Zion is the best. Great team. Incredible coffee.
Neat, hip little street corner with a couple cool shops nearby. Great coffee too, I like that they have oat milk options availible.
Great local spot
Great coffee, friendly place.
Modern coffee bar with a good selections of drinks, hot & cold + drafts. Not a quiet place but very hip. All white black and natural wood on the first floor, cozy industrial loft as well. Free WiFi and free street parking with a parking lot across the street.
Zion isn’t just a “coffee shop”. Zion in a place to call home. It’s an experience. One where you can make your tastebuds experience love and euphoria all in one sip of their coffee. It’s a destination hangout spot. The owners and the workers don’t just “work here” they are family and friends. If you are looking to studying, meet for a first date, brainstorm ideas or simply get something to go on your way to work then stop by and experience joyful ness
Always great!!
Tasty cookie
LOVE LOVE LOVE Zion Coffee Bar. Its a one of a kind coffee shop, especially for the Peoria area. Love going here and working, internet speeds are FAST.The drinks are amazing. They have seasonal drinks, that are all delicious. They have great healthy food, with a very trendy, hip, influence. They have alcoholic drinks and have house cocktails.Best of all, the owners are amazing and have a real touch with the community. Zion coffee is bringing the heat to the Peoria area, and were lucky to have them!
Super trendy place. Friendly staff. Delicious coffee drinks. Also serve mixed drinks and gourmet toast. Toast seems silly, but once youve had it, youll understand. Quite delicious. Neat location in Peoria. Overall a fun place, and a regular stop whenever were in town. A bit pricey, but its quality food/drinks, so you are getting what you pay for.
Very sleek and modern interior. Affordable drinks with moderate proportions and a great deal of variety. Highly active but casual and professional.Great place for a brief visit or a morning meeting.
Great coffee and combutcha.
