Stopped by for a few drinks one morning when they first opened. Staff was easily as friendly as any place Ive ever been. A few locals having breakfast mentioned they always had good food and the prices were good. Only real downside was no beers on tap and cash only, so plan ahead for that. Ill definitely be coming back.
Good Burgers... But a long wait, Absolutley zero atmosphere inside & cash only. I took the family here on our way out to Lake Pleasant based on nostalgic memories of dirt biking here as a kid, the memories were better than the experience. Im not sure the place has been updated or maintained since I was here as a kid. This place could be really great if they put a little more into it... But its a decent bite to eat out in an area with not much else around.

It has a very friendly and inviting atmosphere, quaint, family friendly. The delicious smell of the amazing burgers cooked over open flame is the first thing to hit me when I walked through the door. It wasnt too crowded when I visited with a mix of those just done with off-roading activities by the lake and regular patrons that live nearby. I had the cheeseburger with green chili and jalapenos, it was magnificent! So juicy, very filling, cooked to order perfectly! I had to laugh when the cooked asked the waiter if I was having 2, as if I couldve eaten that much! 🙂 Overall it was the best dining experience Ive had in quite some time and I cant wait to go back!!😋

This place always has clean bathrooms along with a great selection of beer on tap and is the only spot leaving the lake pleasant area.
Surprise fun find returning from Lake Pleasant. Have driven by this place often, the building does not have a sign. The only sign is a small sign along the roadside. The atmosphere is definitely casual with an old west vibe. Glad we stopped this time. This seems to be a local hangout with people greeting each other as they came in. Serves burgers, sandwiches, soup, chili and salads. At the next table, chili was served. Looked and smelled really good, but we had already ordered. Our server, Brigette, was helpful and nice. She said it would take about fifteen minutes because so many came in at once. Enjoyed a crisp salad as we waited. In less than 15 minutes we were served our burgers. Burgers were excellent, juicy, sizzling hot and done just right. They are cash only. Yum!

Made a quick random stop for a few burgers after a long car ride. We called ahead and checked out the scenery as there are dirt bikes cruising along. It is a huge dirt area that looks like a movie set. The staff were quick and ready to help us out and....yes!!! The burgers definitely lived up to their reputation. Simple burgers with a home made patty cooked to perfection and very filling. Absolutely a must if you are in the area.

In some ways, you get what you pay for. It isnt overpriced. But its certainly over rated for a dirty place with mediocre service that sells frozen hamburgers.Id rate it lower, but it is cheap. And you can tell by looking at the place that youre going to get cheap food.

This place is awesome...The burgers are what they are known for...They are just that damn good and homemade!!! Its off a main road in the middle of nowhere, but the views outside this spot are what make this place picturesque...The staff that works there are awesome...They remember us every year we make our way back...In addition, this place gets busy and they only accept cash...The burgers come with chips (no fries here) and for under $10 bucks...Ill be back...

Excellent food and service. Stopped here on our way to Lake Pleasant I had a mushroom Swiss Burger it was wonderful. Cooked exactly the way I liked it and only can have at home, medium rare. Total perfection guys thanks! Only a few places I know that use quality beef will I order it like that. Let me tell you they have yet to disappoint and its been awhile since my last visit. They also sell quality bait and fishing stuff if you forget anything you might need. As this was a last minute plan for us today. We just happen to keep the basics in my truck and my co-worker in his car should our schedules coincided for a meet up fishing trip. We had to pick up some supplies for fishing here too, kind of a one stop shop lol!

Great rustic find in NW Phoenix. My wife and I shared a cheeseburger with hatch chilis and a Philly cheese steak. Both were mouth watering good 😋! Spot on service and a nice local joint vibe.
It’s not a day on the lake if you don’t end it at Wild Horse. I’ve been going here for at least 25 years and the food has stayed consistently fantastic. It’s nothing fancy but definitely hits the spot. The burgers are the thickest around. Chilrito is great if you’re a fan of Frito pies. Even the grilled cheese is delicious! Cash only but there is an ATM on site. They also have a pretty good beer selection from local breweries.

Update: We returned today 3/13 and our experience was quite different. When we first arrived there were no tables so we left and came back an hour later. Luckily, this time there was 1 table available. We sat down and initially the service was good. However, when my wife and I stepped away to use the restroom the two female servers immediately started hassling our son that he needed to leave because they needed our table. So, wait until the adults leave and hassle a teenager? Classy. When we returned from the restroom, the women were very rude. We had intended to spend quite a bit more money there, but decided that we weren’t giving them another penny beyond what we had already ordered. The gentleman there was awesome, as he always has been, but the women were reason enough not to return. We know it was busy, but some advice, if you want to stay that way it would help to be nicer to your customers. We were regulars but we will definitely have to reconsider ever going back. Based on the comments of people around us, I know we weren’t the only ones who felt this way. Very disappointing.Delicious burgers and fast, friendly service!

Today was the first time I didn’t enjoy the service at this wonderful place.Our waitress seemed to be having a horrible day. She was attentive to everyone on the patio but us. Everyone seemed to be know or regulars.I’m sorry Berlin was having such a bad day but the service was absolutely horrible until it was time to pay the bill and collect her tip.Burgers are great every time. !!!

First words out of staff mouth- “wears your mask?” Not friendly at all- a nice welcome would have set a better tone. We wanted to eat outside and had to walk ten steps down an empty hall and she was very snarky. Food was OK- Chili was average, tasted like out of a can. Hamburger was thick but flavourless. Bloody Mary w/o any condiments- just lime slice. Not sure what the hype is about this place, other than great conversation with others outside, I was not impressed.

When I travel to Peoria I try to schedule my time so my trip includes a stop ar WHW. Great burgers and such. But I have yet to find a better chili, cheese and onion kosher dog. That and a beer. Life is good.

Food was ok. The staff (3 individuals)were not personable, no hello or goodbye for us but for others the server greeted and chatted. No sign to inform to sit wherever or wait for staff. There are Limited options & no soup of the day. No alternatives for those who are unable to eat beef except for grilled cheese. We did not go at closing time. First & last time. I would not recommend and avoid this establishment. Fyi: this is a cash only establishment.

I’ve been a north Phoenix snowbird for 3 years and I kept getting told by people I ran into that this place has “the best burger in town.” Well my third year I got tired of hearing it so I went to see for myself and man, was I disappointed. The burger is a meatball of a patty with no flavor served on a store-bought bun with the basic ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles. The most uncreative, unimaginative concoction I’ve ever seen at a restaurant. To make it worse, it took a while to come out on a slow night, and there is no French fry side option, instead you get a bag of LAYS. Are you kidding me? So boring. For much better burger options, check out Lakeside Bar & Grill 6.5 miles down the road. Ended up going there 3 nights in a row.

I stopped by here during my vacation because it was recommended... I was truly disappointed with the customer service. We walked in and were a bit confused where to place our order we lucky came across a sweet gentle man who works there and told us we could order at the bar we then asked if we could eat outside and he said it was fine and we could have a seat and place our order then. We walked outside again I was so excited to try them out when the waitress finally “greeted” us by shouted loudly in front of other customer to “Go inside and place your order I can’t not be going back and forth taking orders” we were a bit confused since she was ALREADY taking orders from other customers. We sadly had to walk out and look for something else. I hate leaving negative reviews but I’d hate for someone to come here as excited me and my family did and walk out feeling completely disappointed.

After reading lots of reviews online and on their website I was super excited to try these amazing burgers, unfortunately they did not live up to the hype. The burger was nothing like what was shown on the menu and was bland. The burgers were really thick which made it difficult to eat and left you with a burnt tongue. The only side they offer are lays potato chips, no fries or anything. The service also wasn’t standout, our waiter was friendly when he was at our table but that wasn’t often. They failed to refill drinks, ask if we needed anything, or even how our food was. I don’t feel the need to return here.

Wild Horse West is just a stand alone building on the side of the road out by Pleasant Lake. We stopped by for a quick bite and thats what we got. Very simply put, its a local watering hole that serves up burgers and hot dogs. Your plate comes with peppers, onions and lettuce, a big, fat, juicy burger and a bag of plain chips. While this is simple, its also very delicious! The atmosphere is local and comfortable. Its small inside but I believe there is an outdoor patio in back. It looks bigger than it is and is mostly a bar.Stop for a drink and get a burger!
A greasy burger that was good but not great, cash only, but you dont know that until you sit down and look at the menu. They have two ATM machines in the building, but there is a $4 fee. I was disappointed by that, and right on the screen of the ATM it says: The owner, wildhorse West saloon, charges a $4 fee. Im sure theyre paying a fee to have the machines in there in the first place, but instead of paying the fee to have a credit card machine in the building like every other restaurant, they make you pay the ATM fee. On top of that, the food was not that great. They kind of trap you because of the location, theres nothing around here unless you want to drive to the restaurant at lake pleasant, but it costs $6 to get into the like pleasant state park.
