I would give them ZERO stars if that were an option. The staff was rude, condescending, and completely unwilling to help me. I will NEVER buy anything there again. And I’ll tell anyone that asks how I was treated. This is actually the second time we’ve had a negative experience with these clowns. The first time was over a year ago, and the guy at the counter that day was rude to my wife and said something inappropriate to her. So I definitely would avoid these guys. They really don’t care about their costumers at all, as evidenced by their reviews. Their low customer review rating says it all.

The owner sold my A/C for cash because there were no others in the area but it was supposed to come to me...they suck!

Check prices at all the wholesale distributors before you buy anything here. They are extraordinarily high to retail customers. They are not wholesale to the public, and even their retail prices seem extremely high when compared to others.

I hate writing this, the staff was helpful and friendly, but as a retail customer they charged me exactly $200 over list price for the part I needed. I was able to confirm that with their online catalog which matched the price I was initially quoted over the phone. Once I arrived they added exactly $200 to the price. The part was a blower fan motor for my AC. I was quoted over the phone for $134. When I arrived I was told that it would cost $334. I later checked their catalog online and found the exact same part for $134. I can almost understand that, but I was also told that I had misheard the price over the phone. That made me a little angry, but benefit of the doubt was given.I will avoid them next time, but the part worked fine and I was able to fix my AC that day.

I called to see if this business was open on Saturday and a recording said they were open from 7:30 until noon. After a 30 minute drive to their location, arriving around 11:15, the sign on the door said Saturday hours were seasonal, and would resume in April. Seemed to me that winter was a good season for HVAC supplies, but in any case their phone message should have been updated if they respected prospective customers. Since they dont, I wont be their customer.

My A/C went out last week. I had a pretty good idea it was the capacitors that had gone bad. Lee helped me get the right parts and get my a/c back up and running. I did have to return a few days later to buy a new fan motor, which Lee thought would also have to be replaced. I had a problem with the new motor making a horribly loud sound when it was running. I called l Lee and he made a suggestion on what to do. It is is running like a top!Everyone there was very nice and knowledgeable. I WILL be a returning customer. I just hope it it is later than sooner. I dont like not having a/c in Alabama in the spring, summer or fall!

If you are a retail customer, avoid this place at all costs! You will pay 3 times what you can find elsewhere, and at least twice the list retail price. They had the HVAC parts in stock, which was very convenient. I ended upbuying a capacitor, a new fan motor, and a fan blade. All of this cost $425. Although the parts were what I needed, they were over double online prices. I priced out each part at an online parts place, and it would have been $200 for the same exact parts. However, my daughter did not want to spend another couple of days in the Alabama heat without an AC, so I went ahead and bought them.I amended this to 1 star after I found the exact motor I bought at Johnstone for $285 for less than $100 at various retail outlets. The mfg. list retail price was $160, but the average price among the 6 retailers I called was $109. Johnstone charged me $285!!!!! When I questioned them, they said it was because it was a specialty motor, which it was not. If you are a retail customer, prepare to pay about three times more than you would at other stores. There are several alternatives nearby that are much less expensive. Shame on me for not pricing this motor out, but I didnt realize the price difference until I had already installed the motor.I will say the service was great, and the service tech that rang me up was shocked by how high the prices were. I guess they usually deal with contractors, who get true wholesale prices.

Weve had a great experience in the past, and have always felt welcome.BUT, we went in today to pick up a line set, and someone must have been having a bad day. The gentleman who helped me acted in a way that was most unbecoming and inconsistent with the manner in which Ive been treated in the past. (I usually work with a really nice lady there...shes terrific.) I walked in, and was instantly met with condescension because I was a homeowner and not a contractor. On top of that, the price I was charged was $50 more than the already high retail price he quoted on the phone. (Apparently, retail customers get charged almost double what contractors pay at this store for this part.) We found the exact same part online for half the cost ($150), so we will be returning this one on Monday. Please know that since our contractor needed the line set installed before he arrived midweek, we were willing to pay more to get it today. (Since weve had zero issues with this store in the past we didnt order online.) However, after this experience we will reschedule our hvac contractor to come another week, buy the remaining supplies (there are many) online, and at Home Depot where my husband has a contractor acoount. If we return to this store again and have a better experience, well update our review. In the meantime, non-contractor homeowners and DIY patrons beware.

I have spent untold thousands at this loction over the last ten years. A few mounths ago I bought a back up leak detector. When I opened it up today, there was no sensor in the box. When I called about this, they essentially called me a lier. I have accounts all over birmingham. I will never do business with Johnstone again.

Johnstone Supply is a Wholesale Only distributor- Says so on the front door- If youre a licensed contractor, this is the best supply house in town- If youre not a licensed contractor, you will pay list price, which is the price a service contractor will normally charge a homeowner-
