We brought two hog last fall and are currently have a hog processed. The pork is really good and the people are very nice. It can be hard to get someone on the phone and I’ve never had someone call me back. That’s why I’m giving them 3 stars.
There is no way I got the beef from the cow I bought. They sell the good meat and stick you with whatever. Don’t follow their cut sheets very well. Lost track of a box that they “found” when I called them about the missing items I was charged for. You get charged for bones, organs and other things they normally “discard.” I wanted all available organ meat and bones since I make my own dog food. I got none of it. They charged me $4 dollars extra to not cut my brisket and leave it whole, which, they still cut in half. I was charged $50 more for individually wrapped steaks. Several of which, so far, are not sealed properly. Do not deal with these crooks!!!
We have experienced some confusion with clerks losing cut sheets and beef order for five steers. Their processing has always been very good for us and we take in about ten steers per year. We feel like we need to check and double check with counter clerks since April left. April was the best. Never had these problems with her. Turnover rate with their clerical help is a current issue that hopefully James Yoder will correct.
I hunt in the Dover TN area. I have taken meat to Yoders for 8 years. Their product and service was good up until the 2020 deer season. Took them a deer at the first of November and was told it would be ready first of December. Started calling them early December while I was still hunting in the area. No return call after more than 10 attempts and phone messages. Had to make a 5 hour trip late December just to pick up the meat. And, the meat was bad. Could not stand the smell when cooking. Have been eating venison for 40 years and never such a foul aroma. Go somewhere else.
We have used Yoder Brothers Meat Processing for about 5-6 years. We drive 2 hours in order to use them and there are certainly a lot of processors closer to us, but they are worth the drive. They know what they are doing, are available to answer any questions and are great to deal with. April Yoder is a gem. She is always very accommodating, polite, and knowledgeable.Today, when we picked up our order, Christie went above and beyond to help us. We had a very large order to pack up and load and she pitched in to help as she could. She could not have been nicer! What a great employee! I am always amazed with the people we meet there that are picking up their order and how far they are willing to travel to use Yoder Brothers. I could not recommend them more.
We have used Yoder’s several times over the years. Hogs and cows to be processed. Every time I call they say they are 2 years out with appointments. Not good business with the people who have always used them. The last hog we picked up the bacon was not cured. The sausage has a funny taste to it. I refuse to eat it. My husband and everyone does and hasn’t gotten sick. What usually took about 3 weeks to pick up after we dropped off took almost 3 months. I’m still convinced that are meat was on the verge of spoiling. We was driving almost two hours to do business with them. Not anymore. And I had always in the past told everyone to use Yoder’s for your processing, they are clean and know what’s going on. I have no idea what has happened but at this rate they will be closing the doors.
This store has the best bread I have ever bought from a store. The butter is also amazing. Prices are great for the product value.
We have used Yoders 3 times over the years to process pork. The first time was great. Unfortunately it was all down hill from there. The second time they forgot to cure the bacon!! Most recently we were told 3 weeks to receive our meat back. It took 6! To top it off they mixed up the sausage. Over 40lbs of sausage mislabeled. Every cut sheet we marked that we wanted the fat back. What do you know it was all tossed. Very disappointing.
Very professional staff help you unload your livestock. Most humane process possible, very grateful for that. They are respectful of all Gods creatures. Front staff explain everything and make suggestions to get the most meat that your family would prefer for each animal youve brought. Will definitely use again each year we have steers to process. Thank you!
Mistakes happen when you are such a large operation. In the years that I have been coming to Yoder brothers there have been a few. But the quality and variety that they offer in terms of processing was worth the 2 and a 1/2 hour drive both ways every time I would bring in a hog. This last time however has prompted you could find an alternative and to leave this review. The last hog we brought in was raised for a year on pasture and high quality, expensive non gmo feed. This of course is done for my family and is very important to us.A few weeks after I dropped off my hog and had spent a considerable amount of time carefully filling out the cut sheet and going over it with the gentleman behind the counter I received a phone call asking me to fill out my cut sheet. I explain to the lady on the phone that I already filled out my sheet and saw somebody theyre entering it into the computer while I was there. We use our own seasoning for our sausage and have always given it to them and they used it instead of their seasoning. This has never been a problem but I believe since they lost my cut sheet that they later said they found we received something that doesnt look like our pork and doesnt taste like our sausageThis is not a small difference there is a marked very obvious difference to anyone who has ever eaten our pork. Our hogs are of the heritage breed and the meat is always quite red compared to a typical market hog that is leaner and the meat is considerably lighter. The hog we got did not look like our meat so I called Yoder brothers and talk to April. I explained everything in detail and asked if I could talk to a manager but no one was there so I asked if they would please return my call after theyve done some research to see what has happened.I never received a call and I dont plan on making the 2 and a 1/2 hour drive to Paris again nor will I recommend Yoder brothers again as I have done countless times to customers and friends and family. I never looked online to see what reviews were left for Yoder brothers because I usually like to give some place a chance before I prejudge them but looking at similar reviews I wish I would have paid attention. This was a costly mistake for me and I wont make it again I hope that Yoder brothers will make a change in their handling of customers animals and if a mistake does happen then honest forthcoming information would have gone a long way as I can forgive those mistakes but I cant forgive as easily when I am ignored as a paying customer and not given the courtesy of a phone call back with an explanation. At this point my recommendation is to pass on Yoder brothers as your hard work and money will not be valued in the same way that you value it.
I have been coming here for years! It’s clean, they are honest, and they are reasonable. If they have a bad review they must have not tried other meat processors! They are so good, I travel 2 1/2 hours one way to get to them.
Not the place it use to be. Be careful!
I would recommend them over the other run of the mill processors in the area. They are very professional and all the jerky, snack sticks, and summer sausage was wonderful. If you kill late in the day, no worries just bring it to the back and follow the instructions by the off loading dock to tag and place your deer in the cooler. We are from out of town and have never used them before, but will use their services for all our needs from here on out. They do have the USDA inspector on site for their agricultural butchering so I feel the same safety meat handling and packaging is intact and gives me peace of mind.
Yoders always provides the highest level of service! Trust them implicitly with our business!
We loved the beef and pork we bought. Better than any I have bought in any gro.store! Will definitely be back for more!!
Since yet are a USDA licensed facility we use them to process all of our pork that we sell at our farmers markets. They do a great job but depending on the time of the year they are way understaffed and it affects customer service. But product is always good.
They did a fantastic job! Also on time
This place is the bomb when it comes to processing deer, pork, or beef. Many varieties how you want your meat cut n flavored. These folks dont skimp on nothing.
Have been going here every deer season for as long as i can remember. This year they called to say my order was ready and when i got there.... same day.... they could not find 90% of my order. So.... after waiting more than an hour while they looked, they apologized and said they would have to locate my meat in the next day or two and call me. Week goes by and nothing so i call them.... yes sir, there is a note right here ---- It should be 1 or 2 days. Another week and nothing.... Call them again, goes to voicemail, left a message asking for someone to call me. Another week..... Nothing!! Sad part --- I already paid for it!!!!!Mind you I have had minor issues in the past and they always went above and beyond but this year ------ Sad to say may be the last for me which is sad because i looked forward to the trips out there each year.
Been going there 20 plus yrs. Never had many problems. Then we got back a steer we had slaughtered. Split with my parents. Both theirs and my hamburger was ruined. Steak, roast, and rest of meat was fine.As of now. Have talked to Norman the owner. He argues that we hung it too long. Might have had a rare enzyme from liver. And got hung up on while put on hold.It is looking like they are bot gonna stand behind their work. I had about 1,700 invested in that calf.
I paid $303 for 66 pounds of deer meat outrageous price. normally with the same amount of meat the price was around $200 i wished you look at this voice and explain the increase i have been bringing deer now for several years but the last 2 years the quality of meat is bad. last year not cook on the snack sticks this year they have grit/bone in them. i will not be back and do not recommend this place. not a yodar around anymore maybe the issue
Maybe a good place to have your meats processed locally.
Easy to work with, lots of choices, great packaging. Ive taken pigs, cattle, and lamb to them. Every time Ive been very happy with the result, and the price!
These guys are great..thank you very much..they have earned my business from now on ...!!!
69 days later and still no deer. Dropped off during early January during regular rifle season and now it’s the middle of March and still no deer. Drove to Yoder brothers to check on it 3 weeks ago, because they didn’t call back me back. Said it would be ready in about a week. Still nothing 3 weeks later.
Ive been producing grass fed beef for several years, but recently had to use Yoders since my regular processor was totally booked. My customer received the packaged meat, but contacted me when they cooked a roast and some ground beef and said it tasted spoiled. My production is absolutely the same year end and year out and Yoders refuses to believe it was due to processing. Ive lost a great animal and the proceeds due to a bad processing job. I will never use or recommend there facility. Thank goodness my regular processor has done my last animal. FYI Mr. Yoder has avoided my end purchasers phone calls and concerns. Update 11/20/2017. Took another steer to another processor. Same pasture, same grass, and a different result. Beef was perfect from Livingston Processing. Yoder evidently did a terrible job, ruined my beef, and cost me a two year old steer and processing. DO NOT USE ! They didnt even try to make this right. Now six months later 05/18 and no phone call from owner or staff. I hope people stay away.
I have been using Yoders meat processing to have deer process for several years now. I travel from Clarksville to Paris, about an 1hr to 1 1/2hr drive. This years deer for the most part was decent, except for the deer steaks and polish sausage. The deer was dropped off 3 Dec 17. It took Yoders over 1 month to have my deer processed. I had specially cuts and regular cut. Most of the speciality cuts have turned out OK, as far as I can tell. However the polish sausage is very dense. The deer steaks (tenderized) from the regular cut are not edible. I have tried three separate packs, all three smell very gamey. The flavor and smell of the meat is overwhelmingly gamey and cannot be eaten. I have 8 packs left of tenderized deer steaks that I now have to throw away. What a shame. Probably will not make the trip back to Yoders to have a whole deer process again. I am sure that the deer I gave them was not the one I received. Lesson learned.
Beef is total rip off!!! BUYER BEWARE!! Yoder Bros Meat is running a racket scheme. We paid $1000 for 253 lbs of meat, splitting with friends. We picked up our part from Yoders: 60 lbs of roast, steaks, brisket and 90 lbs of ground beef. We were told we were getting a great deal buying Yoders meat at $3.79 per pound (You actually are paying double because you only get half the meat and pay for the cow waste parts they throw away by the pound. When we picked up our order, carefully weighed and did the math, it turns out we paid around 15 dollars per steak and $11.50!!!! per pack of ground beef. We could buy organic angus at any store in town for half this price. Unbelievable scam! You are paying the price for the entire cow on the hoof and all waste BY THE POUND. Save your money and buy from the store. So disappointed!
Took a beef in....first off the smell where you off load was deplorable. Smelled just like the kill floor. Had to fight animal off the trailer. Time was up and I waited, and waited for a call to get my beef. I finally called said it was ready. Picked it up, and grabbed a package of the buger to cook, and as it thawed I could smell the most horrible small ever. I pride myself on cooking, so I was offended. The owner said it was something Id done. Pifft I think not. He wont answe my calls, or call back. The an awesome animal, and the processed meat. Id never recommend this place to anyone. My dog wouldnt even eat it. :(
