This is a good place to buy musical equipment, but a terrible place to repair a guitar. I brought in one of my guitars that needed it’s neck relief adjusted. The technician advised me that it needed a new nut since the old nut was shaven down too low. He puts in a bone nut, which doesn’t even feel like a real bone nut, yet It is now worse off than what it was before. I was having fret buzz problems before on the first few frets only and now I have terrible sustain across the fretboard and I now have my high e string making a clinking sound whenever I bend it! I have a video of it that I plan to post soon.They said they couldn’t repair it the way I want it to, but now it sounds worse than when I brought it in! They didn’t charge me for the new nut, but they charge me $30 to re string it! I am out $30 and now I have a guitar that is in worse condition.

Our son died leaving left hand guitars for us to dispose. Guitar center bought for a fair price. Very professional transaction.

My husband bought an Alesia drum from Palm Desert store. When we arrived home, it was missing the chrome rack. We called the store and brought it back. Instead of making an exchange the personnel decided to make a refund and not ask us what we wanted to do.We left the store dissatisfied and spoke to the store manager. Later that day, an employee called us stating he would put the drums on layaway for us. He stated all parts where there even though we knew that was incorrect.We told him we would pick up the drum set in a few days.We called they said the drum set was not there anymore.Online it shows up as in stock.Personnel is very unprofessional.

Each employee asking if you need help in a hostile way will get you no sales.They need new management and better training.A smile will get you very far in life and may help you keep your teeth if your speaking to the wrong person 🤣😜🤣Overall not a bad store. But it is hit or miss on the vibe. Musicians dont like to be hounded especially when they are trying to focus.Change your sales tactics and your profits will increase. Dont and I see the store closing in 2 or 3 years. Maybe even sooner.

Good place for guitar parts. You never know when a tuning head or pick-up is gonna be broken.

Since Musicians Outlet closed, Guitar Center is basically the only game in town these days, unless you mail order. Their selection is decent and they are lenient with returns. Unfortunately they are a bit on the pricey side, and your experience will vary widely depending on which staff member you talk to. Some are knowledgeable and helpful, and some couldnt care less if you stepped in front of a bus. :-) My advice is if youre getting poor treatment from a staff member, just go find someone else!

So cool to find a GC in the desert! Guys there are really cool, quite a bit of stuff in there for such a small store. There were some dudes all the way from Riverside shopping there.

I highly recommend this Guitar Center. The customer service was excellent. Our sales associate was great Nick went above and beyond. I brought my friend in to purchase her daughters first guitar. Nick hooked us up with everything someone need for their first guitar. We left feeling that got an amazing deal. His expertise and product knowledge was amazing. The next day Rocky, their guitar tech stopped what he was doing to some strap locks. Rockys very friendly and professional, he treated her guitar like it was his own. The entire staff at this Guitar Center was very friendly and safe using all covid protocol.

I havent been in here in a few years, but when I did go, the employees were knowledgeable and helped set me up with my first electric guitar. At no point did they even try up-selling me, which is something I appreciate in these circumstances.

Perfect for all those guitarist out there, although some were sold out they have a super wide variety of guitars. Whether its acoustic or electric, or even acoustic electric. They have it! Anything musical related they most like have it and if its not in their store then go online or find another store near you.

It was a surprise visit and I was not ready for amount of selection they had. Would have liked to see a better drum hardware selection. I need some stand brackets and there were only two or three types and only one or two brands to choose.

I absolutely love guitar center and I will not shop anywhere else. However, I had ordered an item in the middle of December that was out of stock that would take about a month possibly longer to get in stock, which was no problem. I finally called after a month and a half and they said that it had arrived a week prior. I told them that I would be in within the next couple of days to pick it up. Two days later it was sent back to the shipper because it wasn’t picked up. In my opinion, I should’ve received a phone call to let me know because nobody told me that it would be sent back two days later after talking to them. Andi was never refunded. Like I said I love guitar center I will never shop anywhere else but that was just a very frustrating situation because now we have to order it again and wait a while, and hour I get the refund. But the staff is amazing, knowledgeable and friendly and the selection they have is well worth it

It was aight. None of the electric guitars were hooked up to any amps so thats a little disappointing.

I ordered an acoustic bass and wanted it delivered to the Palm Desert store. When I tracked it, it was coming to my address. I called gc and told them that they made a mistake. They told me that it would take one more day to have it delivered to the store. It is a mile or 2 from my house. I dont get it. They have pretty much nothing in stocks. Its easiest to go online and skip this place.

The employees there are lifeless unwilling to be friendly, every interaction is like they hate that your shopping and want to get you out of there.

I used to love guitar center until covid-19 and then I had to wait 30 minutes to go look at a guitar which I was escorted by one of the sales representatives he told me to point out whatever guitar I wanted to try and he would bring it down and sanitize it...so, thats fantastic that he did that, however hovering over me while Im trying to decide if I want to buy a guitar? it was a little unnerving; then when I decide to buy the guitar and the amplifier not only did the salesperson try to upsell me like, I was buying a car.. he was a little pushy about the warranty. I just feel if Im going to go to some place like that and spend almost $2,000 that I would have better treatment.

Bare walls in Acoustic room and guitar display. Ill take the Marshall pegboard when you decide to toss it . Why would anyone want to open a credit card with 30% interest to help pay their debt back to creditors just to keep afloat.In 2020 Fender guitar sales were the most than any other year in the companys history.There is a 2 week turn around time just for string changes . Seen many service needed customers walk out .With fretted sales instruments hitting amazing numbers GC cannot compete with service . Plus who wants up sales items added to their bill .20% increase in under 24 year olds . 70% increase in under 45 year olds . Pre-pandemic female players rose up 30% to 45% currently. If it cant be serviced and sound playable, players loose interest, plus pushing products and expensive lessons that are not needed . Can you see who they are their targets .

A headache order CANCELED! Ordered a used Vari2315 speaker & Vari 4100 speaker bundle not in stock back ordered to Nov. I get used Vari week later only to get it bearly boxed & damaged rattling inside housing unusable Really?(see photos) called & told take it to store for return. Took to store & staff points out I got wrong speaker completely(v2312) After a hour & looking for replacements Im told only store across country has one but you have to pay MORE for it(Really Folks?).Updated 9/17: morning screen shot replies, sister company order.

Insane. Wanted to buy a new ukulele, but was not interested in joining their insurance program, which the associate was pushing pretty hard. Was also told that I couldnt complete the purchase unless I was willing to share First & Last Name, along with a phone number and zip code. California Consumer Privacy Act much, Guitar Center? I guess not.Ill take my money elsewhere.

Smallest GC ever? Their selection of accessories is good, and their used inventory is pretty sweet. Rocky, the guitar tech did a great setup on my guitar and solved a long time intonation issue.

If your looking for pro gear for the tour this store may not have it. The keyboard selections are few but not for the studio or stage. Nord keyboards are not in stock or expansion units for Pro Tools are not readily available.The staff was great and knowledgeable. The store is small and not as large as their other stores but worth the look. They do have a great wall of guitars 🎸.

Ever since covid, for absolutely no reason whatsoever, they make you wait outside for an hour in 110+ degree heat before you can buy anything. Right when the sun goes down and it starts cooling off, they close. It doesn’t matter that every other business which sells far more essential items (like, yknow, groceries) allows a seemingly-infinite number of folks inside at any given time — guitar center will only allow ONE person to shop at a time, for some reason. As if we needed another reason to support local music stores over this nightmare factory anyway, now we have a great one... c’mon guys, apparently Guitar Center wasn’t marching towards chapter 11 fast enough! Let’s help ‘em out!

Guitar Center is doing what they can to protect the public from Corona and Covid 19. Others may not like it but they give you one to one service now. Greeting at the door and have a sales person help you exclusively. Tell you the truth IT WAS AWESOME!!!

Did not have what I needed, very low amount of stock, there web site said they had item and when I got there they did not. They only cary 1 type of strings for a 12 string guitar, and they arent the quality I prefer,. I swear they are all pushing us to shop online 😢💔

Im not sure if theres a miscommunication between the location and whatever their SOP is but staff was not helpful from telephone guidance... Very disappointed in regards to the outcome of our visit which was supposed to be a simple exchange of a gift. Even with the receipt available, exchange cannot go through because someone who purchased the gift was not present.

TERRIBLE customer service! An employee there by the name of Josh (he also said he was the manager) gave my 2 daughters and I the worst most unprofessional experience. We walked in wanting to purchase a guitar and inquire about the music lessons they had advertised outside and ended up leaving feeling awful.

Cody really helped me a lot and was great to work with. He helped me find what I was looking for. Because he was so helpful and knowledgeable, I gave Guitar Center more business than I otherwise would have.

My darling wife bought me a surprise Xmas present of a saxophone and lessons at the guitar center. My teacher is Carmen and she is really talented as a musician and teacher. Shes encouraged me to keep going and made my lessons fun. Staff are friendly and if you need to change a lesson they are really accommodating but need to give 24hrs notice.

Went in with my 10 yr old to get a strap for her Ukulele this past Sunday. Nick who installed the Pin in the guitar was SO SO SOOO incredibly helpful and kind.After he installed the pin he went ahead and put the strap on for her. he was very knowledgeable and when my daughter asked if he could tune her ukulele he did really quickly for her free of charge. He even recommended a good set of cards for her to use to learn the chords. Give that guy a raise or something its really hard to find good customer service people these days! Nick also gave us info about Ukulele lessons in the store so we will be back to do that as well

The smallest guitar center I’ve ever seen. I went in for ukulele strings and they only had one choice. I expect much more from guitar centers. Better for guitars though.

Very disappointed. Im In the market to buy a Mark Bass amp. No associate wanted to help even when I was asking questions. I has to find my own cord to demo a couple amps.I really need an amp for a gig in Vegas I have coming up. They probably could of had a decent sale.

Good for guitarists and drummers. Selection for keyboardists, electronic musicians, studio/software people is a bit slim. Subscribe to their website to receive periodic news and discounts. Their ordering service is top notch. Ive ordered from them and one product was defective and they sent out a replacement before I was able to return the defective one. The company has always given me excellent customer service. At times it is difficult to use their coupons or specials though as the restrictions can be pretty restrictive.

I been coming to guitar center for years, and never been treated like, we were not welcomed. We walked in at 8:30pm and the clerk Josh was rude and asked us in a rude way what we wanted? We told him we were going to look at the guitars. He looked very annoyed that we came 30 min before closing. As we walked into the guitar room, he asked us if we look at any guitars that we needed to put the tags back the way he had them. This is the first time we’ve ever been treated this way. We will no longer buy from this store again.

Took in a Gibson electric guitar to sell said they were interested over the phone once I took it in said they werent interested. Wasted my time because I was Mexican. I felt so discriminated as an American citizen, I will never go back to that place.
