There are many places to go for an oriental rug but we *only* bring our carpets to Rugport. They treat us with integrity, honesty and give us sound advice. Weve gotten rugs cleaned, restored and appraised (like the one you see in the photo). We trust them not to oversell us their services or lead us down the wrong path. Yesterday we brought another three carpets to them, all with a variety of needs and they assessed them like the knowledgeable professionals they re. 2/21/2021 - While my wife and I have not YET made our purchase, when our furniture arrives, we will most certainly buy our areas rugs from Rugport. On our initial visit (just to see what Rugport offered), Alex took more than ample time with us to answer our questions, offer valuable advice, and show us an incredible range of spectacular options (without a hint of pressure). If youre looking for beautiful, fairly-priced high-quality rugs, Rugport will NOT disappoint. (PS: I almost never write reviews, but when someone presents themselves as professionally as does Alex, I cant keep it to myself.)

This company sells exceptional, unique oriental and Persian rugs at reasonable prices. More importantly, they stand behind you. I had a situation (completed unrelated to the rug, the price or buying experience) over one year after my purchase. They came up with a creative solution to my situation when they had absolutely no need to. They are honest, of high character and integrity, and knowledgeable. I am extremely pleased with my rug and hope to buy from them again in the future. You won’t be disappointed!

The man who runs the store (don’t know his name) was so unbelievably kind to make suggestions, provide moth balls and wrap my rug for storage at no cost! He could have encouraged me to pay for storage at his facility but talked me out of that to save money. I am so happy I stopped in with my 150 year old Turkish rug!

I cant say enough kind words for Mr. Houshy who is the owner of this outstanding business. I came from out of state only to visit this store and had limited time. Mr. Houshy sent photos ahead of my visit and planned to meet me. While he was also in a hurry to leave town, our time overlapped and he ensured I got what I came to find. I had searched at many mainstream retail and small family businesses for 2 years. You cannot beat the service, handmade quality, selection of traditional and contemporary rugs, and price. Mr. Houshy is extremely knowledgable, knows his inventory, and is honest, kind, and overly generous. I was able to purchase 3 rugs within my budget in the short time I was there and have not an ounce of buyers remorse 3 months later. He even mailed the rug pads to me. They are amazing, honest, and knowledgeable! They tried to fix damage to a rug I bought somewhere else. Even after picking up the rug, trying to fix it, and delivering the rug they DID NOT CHARGE me because they knew it really couldn’t be fixed. They are awesome!

I have known these guys since they opened decades ago. My oldest son grew up looking at their rugs and still has a couple ( he’s now 35). I would bring him in and they would teach him about rugs. If you need an investment in art because that’s what many of them are, please do yourself a favor and go visit them. They are very welcoming and knowledgeable. Houshi and Ali know more about rugs than you can imagine. If I could give them 6 stars I would.

I would recommend Rugport to anyone who is looking for the very best in hand-made Persian/Indian/Oriental rugs of distinctive design and heirloom-quality.

We have a large handmade red Royal Kerman Persian rug, which was in excellent for a rug 80 to 100 years old. It sustained heavy clothes moth damage last Spring. We were just sick about it! I visited the Rugport store in Petoskey Michigan to ask about repairs. Mr. Amir Sultan took the rug to their store in Palatine Illinois, where a Master Weaver painstakingly repaired the missing wool pile eaten by clothes moth larvae. The work took about two months, then the rug was brought back from the Palatine Illinois store to their Petoskey store. When the rug was unrolled we were thrilled with the repairs. Several colors were matched so perfectly the repairs were not visible. We could not be more pleased. The rug was also washed in Palatine, causing the vibrancy of the colors to come out like the sun from behind a cloud! I would recommend Rugport Palatine to anyone in need of damage repair, restoration of antiques, or cleaning of fine wool or silk handmade rugs. They really know the business of fine quality handmade rugs.
