I’m so glad we have Bead World in Palatine! I had a great experience. I called in the morning and made a same-day piercing appointment on a weekday. Nice and easy! I arrived, and the shop is cool. I was greeted and shown the options for my upper ear piercing. I read and signed the liability form, then the piercer came over and gave me a thorough explanation of their safety (sterile needle, etc.) and aftercare info. Went to the side room and approved the position of the piercing, then got it done. Felt very confident in everything. My piercing is perfect and aftercare has gone as expected. I’m very happy with the result!

Yesterday was my first time at this wonderful place! I made an appointment to get my lip pierced. There is beautiful handmade jewelry and all kinds of pretty things here. It is family owned and the husband does the piercing. Hes a great funny older man who is very knowledgeable and good at what he does. He had a line of piercing appointments when I got there and when I left. Youre definitely in good hands here. At the least, I recommend just coming and browsing around here. Its a really cool spot.

I had my ears peirced here a few years ago. Coming here, you know you are in good hands. They will provide clean, safe, professional piercings and put you at ease all through the process. Dont take your kids to Clairs if you love them! Come here instead, where they actually know what theyre doing. Body modifications are not to be taken lightly. The kind folks at bead world take it seriously and have the proper knowledge and experience. Theres a fine selection of jewelry with which to adorn your new piercings to boot. If I ever get additional piercings, you bet I will be coming back to bead world.

Really nice family business and looking forward to going back to look around more another time. Just got my daughters ears pierced for the first time there and it was a very positive experience for her. The piercer is licensed and everything is sterilized. He walked her through each step of the process and was very easy going and kind, as was everyone else working there.

Horrible experience with this place. The piercer was extremely rude and disrespectful. He gets snappy at you for asking questions or asking for clarification. He has a thick accent and gets mad at you if you can’t understand him. He’s unprofessional and SHOULD NOT be piercing people!!! DO NOT get pierced here.

Love this place - got my nose pierced here over a year ago and the piercer put me at complete ease and talked me through everything. The procedure was sanitary, quick, and painless. Came in today to get my nose re-pierced because it had closed over (my fault!) but the piercer managed to put in my stud without re-piercing and while keeping me calm. Highly recommend supporting this family-run business; especially during these times.

So my cousin had found this place through word of mouth. Great family owned bussiness - we walked in and were greeted with great customer service. You can tell they enjoy what they do. The son checked us in and took care of all the paperwork, got us set up, and referred all questions to the guy who did our piercings. That I appreciated because he didnt want us to get any wrong info or misinformation. The guy who DID do the peircings has done it for 25+ years and went over ALL the logistics, questions, and the protocol of why they use needles, how do we know if it truly is sterile, and why it is important to ask these questions or know this. He answered all our questions and was humorous despite our apprehensions. I appreciated how he kept everything clean and had a dedicated room with the materials and supplies. He waited until I was ready, told me to take a deep breathe, and was very calm/gentle himself. This guy had such a rhythm, he clearly knew what he was doing and the technical information and reasoning behind it. He took care of my piercing and my 17 year old nieces. I know for sure I would go back when my helix piercing heals and I want my double piercings done.

Bead World completely botched my rook piercing. Its a year after the initial piercing and I had to have the the jewelry removed because it wasnt pierced in the proper place and my ear was very red and inflamed. It hadnt healed from over a year ago! And now I have to pay to have it repierced properly somewhere else. Ill be telling everyone I know not to go here.

I got my navel pierced here almost two years ago and it’s never healed, found out it was pierced WAY too high up and would never heal. i just removed it today, but please don’t get pierced here.

Just came in to get my belly button pierced and had the best experience ever!! They explained how I knew my needle was sterile, how to clean it, and everything else. Absolutely loved the location, the store, the crew, the family atmosphere, the prices, the service! Had my (almost) 17 year old get her navel piercing. She was a bit nervous at first, but she was totally put at ease by the artist. It was quick and she said it pretty much didnt hurt at all. Everything is clean, needles are pre-sterilized and disposable, superb infection control, body area disinfection, etc. (I am a dental care provider, so my opinion is credible.) Very happy. 😊

DO NOT COME HERE FOR PIERCINGS! I came to get my navel pierced 4 months back and had problems with it until i recently removed it. Its not a professional or clean place. The jewelry for piercings for stored in cubbies in little baggies not in a display case. After i got it done people quickly pointed out that it was crooked and that way too much skin was pierced for the size of the bar. I called asking for a longer one but quickly got told Dont listen to other piercers only listen to me I had an infection due to the jewelry as stated by a doctor and had to go to another piercer to get an internally threaded, higher quality, and a longer piece of jewelry. This location has beautiful jewelry and beads but it is not a place to get pierced.

I came here over 3 years ago. My nipple piercing never healed properly. Today I went to a different place to re pierce them and I learned that I had damage scar tissue. I found out that the piercer had pierced my actual areola and not behind the actual nipple (where it should be). Disappointed experience would not recommend. Wouldn’t come here for body piercings.

I had my nose pierced here a week ago and it was such a positive experience. Everyone in the store was able to answer my questions and they were friendly. The piercer was so professional, he made me feel relaxed, and he explained everything to me. It was very reasonably priced too! I would totally recommend going here for a piercing.

DO NOT GET PIERCED HERE. The extremely cranky old Greek man is rude, unpleasant, and gives zero instruction on after care. He hands you a sheet of very vague care instructions and snapped at me when I asked for clarification about cleaning processes. He pierced my tragus with a hoop, which I later learned from an ACTUAL, professional piercer (instead of this kitchen magician) is that you should never be pierced with a hoop as it inhibits the healing process. Not only that, the hoop was so comically large that it was constantly hitting other parts of my ear so it would never heal properly. I developed a massive and painful irritation bump for months and eventually had to remove the piercing five months later. Waste of time and money. This place is NOT a piercing shop - its a bead store that has some crank with needles and very cheap jewelry putting holes in people.

Thought the piercing i got was nice until about 2 days in it kept popping out. I figured it was normal because it was my first time with a nose piercing, however, i later learned the stud they use isn’t proper for what they are supposed to use. The actual stud ended up falling out 6 days and now the hole closed up & they wanted me to pay for the jewelry even though it was their mistake. take care of your customer. everybody makes mistakes but it’s how you handle it that matters. don’t recommend.

I went in today to get my second hole on my earlobes re-pierced. I asked the piercer if he could also take a look at my tragus (per his son’s recommendation) as I had it pierced at one point but took it out years ago. I was pleasantly surprised when he told me it was still pierced! He then let me pick out jewelry for it and he put it in free of charge. The ear piercings were quick, well done and he took the time to explain how to care for them properly. I will never go anywhere else for a piercing, thank you for making this such a pleasant experience!

My incident happened years ago and I didnt want to write about because I depended on this shop for piercings and for them to replace my piercings, but not any more. I will NEVER go back. The man who pierced my tragus botched it and now I have to pay considerable amount of money to have my tragus repaired. According to other piercers, he didnt pierce deep enough and at the right angle. In fact, I have NEVER had any problems with other piercers or piercings. All my other piercings healed normally. I have no idea what happened, but this place has left a stain on me. In addition, their jewelry is very, very cheap and it turns green after some time. I didnt realize that until lately when I took one of my piercings out from them. I rather buy my jewelry from Amazon or go to another piercing shop. Lastly, just recently, I went in to get the back of my tragus piercing screwed on (my other tragus) and I thought I asked nicely, but I didnt say please. Are you serious? The piercer said he doesnt work for me, he works for himself. Then if thats the case, why take my money, right? This just ticked me off. He really has some nerve. I will never go back! I definitely recommend going elsewhere and going to some more experienced piercers.

Got my nose pierced here and everyone was very nice. Only thing to be aware of is the type of nose jewelry they use is probably not the best. It falls out very easily so you have to be extremely careful, especially at night. The jewelry they use is called a nose bone. I called other piercers in the area and they all said that that’s not good to use for a newly pierced nose. Find a place that will use a flat back piece so you don’t have to worry about the piercing falling out at night. Other than that, it’s still a good place to go to for other piercings.

LOVEEEE THISSS PLACEEE OMGG. The people there were incredibly nice and hilarious! I went there to get my septum peirced but I was worried because I thought it would be difficult because i have a rather small nose. The peircer was very thorough with what to expect with this peircing, the peircing process, and how to take care of it as well. The peircing did not hurt at all and peirced my septum perfectly! They also have a ton of different beads and jewelry (I even ended up getting 2 rings there). Honestly LOVE this place and DEFINITELY will be going back :)

I got my nose pierced and it was great at first, but then it became very swollen and the backing went into the hole! i went to a different place to check it out because bead world was closed, and when i saw the other piercer, he said they gave me a stud not meant for the nose, the stud was made in china for a few cents, and the piercer at bead world has no professional training! never going back to bead world.

Great place to get pierced. My daughter has gotten several at Bead World. The man that does makes sure you know what to do after you get home with your piercing to keep it clean. Besides the all the beads and piercings things they also have a great display of assorted silver jewellery. Its beautiful.

This was the third piercing for my daughter. The older gentleman is great to talk to, full of knowledge. He teaches the young people how to take care of thier piercing. WOW what a selection I have never seen such a variety of items in my life. If you are into crafts or watches you need to come here. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable probably because it is family owned and operated. They replaced my watch battery and took a few links out of my other watch and did a great job. My wife purchased a beautiful opal ring and we will be back often as my wife likes crafts and I collect pocket watches. This is a must see if you are in down town Palatine IL.

Worst piercing experience Ive ever had. Went in for a nose piercing - immediately noticed the place was more of a jewelry place with a lot of hippy-looking necklaces that just happened to have a room for piercing. Fine whatever, place is called Bead World. The piercing room was not what I consider the cleanest; no hand washing/station, but the red flag didnt click until later.Staff was OK at first, but the piercer (an older man, who I believe is the owner) was incredibly unprofessional. Got mad and swore at me for not understanding what he was saying & when I asked him for clarification. I wasnt acting out of line for someone getting a piercing (I know bc I was the same when Ive gotten my ear and tongue done), but he said (a few times) that I was overreacting/being too nervous even though I mentioned it wasjust because of my anxiety. I checked the shops low-rated reviews afterwards & it seems like this behavior is a continuous issue for him.I could not reccomend this place less, and hope others dont have to deal with it either.

I brought my daughter in for ear piercing. It could not have been a more pleasant experience. The owner and his wife are so friendly and patient. They really want to make it a positive experience. My daughter left without a tear we had great care instructions and it was incredibly clean and sterile. I would highly recommend bead world and will be bringing my younger daughter when she is old enough too.

I would highly recommend bead world. I took my two daughters (6 and 8) to get their ears pierced for the first time. Both girls felt so comfortable that the entire process was nearly painless. One thing to note, a measuring tool was used to locate both locations on the ears so there was no doubt that the piercings were going to be in the right spots. Its been 6 weeks and no issues have come from the piercings.

I came in here on my 18th birthday for a belly button piercing and I am so glad I chose this place! Their a family run business and the son helped me out picking the jewelry and while waiting was talking to me to make me less scared. The piercer was his father and he was very good at explaining cleaning to me, how to keep it sterile, using clean needles etc. He then pierced my belly and it didn’t hurt one bit! Tragus piercing. Very professional. Explains everything to you including procedure and aftercare. Instruments are gas sterilized and sealed. Definitely the place to go. Well be going back for more.

Came in for a nose piercing. The piercer was a genuinely kind person. He made the piercing go so much smoother and comfortably. The staff in general was pleasant.

I went here to get my rook pierced and I loved it! The piercer was so sweet! He made conversation about my tattoos and made me feel at ease. With all my other piercings, the pierces counted and told me when they were putting the needle through. Here, the guy told me to let him know when I was ready. I was in total control the whole time. I will definitely be going back here for future piercings

The piercer here is knowledgeable, funny, and oddly calming. Ive been here twice once to pierce my nose and once to put the ring back in. Both times he walked me through the process. He showed me everything that he was using and asked me to make sure that everything was sterile. He spoke knowledgeably about each piece of equipment and why he had chosen to use those pieces (he has his own equipment for steaming and everything is clean). He said again and again that making their customers knowledgeable about the process and about the equipment helped customers make better choices for themselves.The piercer said his job wasnt to sell a piercing but his job is to make sure that he connected the customer to the piercing that was right for them. It was more important to them to make sure that I was comfortable with what was happening rather than pierce me to just to pierce me. When I got nervous he cracked jokes in order to calm me down. He is super funny.I went to someone else when my nose ring came out and they told me things that werent true. When I went back to Bead World they were able to put my nose ring back in with ease, which another piercer had almost convinced me was impossible and would hurt much more than getting it pierced. Because I just let it vlosed and come back and pay the full price for piercing. When my ring came out bead world staff and I spoke 4 times to make sure I came back in to put a ring in place.Finally, the price was definitely on point. In the city youre paying 20 plus dollars to some of the piercing prices he has. I have pierced my ears 3 (pairs) times and never went back to the same place twice. Ill definitely be back soon to pierce my ears again and will be taking my friends.

Bought my 7 year old daughter in to get her ears pierced. It was a great experience! She got to pick her earrings and everything was explained in detail. The gentleman that did her piercings was great! They also had an amazing selection of beads, jewelry, and tchotchkes. So happy we stumbled upon this place.

Got my second piercings on my ear lobes today at Bead World. Loved it! They used needles instead of guns which is way more sanitary and also less painful. The guy (who pierced my ear)and his wife were very kind. The price was also affordable. I plan to go back in a couple months to get third piercings on my ear lobes.

I went to Bead World to get my cartilage pierced and I cannot recommend it enough! One of my friends from work told me to go here and I’m so glad I did. The staff are very friendly and the room where I got pierced was very clean/tidy. Everything was done carefully and efficiently and I will definitely be going back for a second piercing.

Came here to get my helix pierced, and it was my first non lobe piercing. I was nervous but the piercer was so nice and friendly and made me feel much calmer. Pretty pricy. Picked a strand that said $11 but at check out it was $16. My friend waited in the car in front of the place and was told to move?!? NOT a no parking zone. He wanted the space free for customers. I spent $105!!! One guy had no idea about the stringing wire saying it was all the same. Not. I also wanted thin leather and he had no idea where it was or the colors they had. I had to ask the guy who was busy yelling at my friend. The first guy said it was no good because he didn’t want to deal with it. Pretty lame place.

Bead world has a ma and pa shop, right here in palatine none the less. All of my piercings, done by the owner, have been fun and well done. He has a very serious and clean practice, but it has a wonderful personality.The daughter made a hemp necklice with a Third-eye Pine cone for my boyfriend that he wears everywhere and looks amazing! They always have new things from crystals to quality metal for piercings to beads like in the name. Support this wonderful business, i know i will for years to come.
