I came across this shop bc I needed a tire replaced and the shop closer to me was busy but now I’m glad I found Mikes. The whole staff from the young guys to the older gentleman have been nothing but friendly, polite and helpful. I’ve been back a couple times since and this last time I took my nephews hand-me-down bike for a tune up. The guy that helped me (I believe his name was Matt) made all sorts of recommendations for this old bike and even helped me stay within budget. Well my nephew is happy with the work and his old bike is gonna ride great for the remainder of the season. This is my new favorite shop even if it’s a little far from me, it’s worth it. Keep it up guys!

I’ve called many bike shops in search for a nice hybrid bike and Mike’s bike shop were the nicest and most courteous people I’ve talked to. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted and the staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about bikes. Was able to score a nice Giant Roam 4 even with bikes being so scarce during these hard times. They definitely exceeded my expectations and will recommend them to my friends and family.

Been there forever but my first bike there in the 80s just had my bike serviced super helpful why would you go anywhere else..

I bought this 🚲 bike for $400, since I needed to find a ride to pickup my bike, I placed it on hold so I only paid half then the other half when I pick it up one week later. Even though, I had this problem that they didnt adjust my seat while being at the shop, 4 days after purchased somebody 📞 called me & said they were going to come to my house & adjust my seat on the 🚲 bike. After they came to my house, they apologize for the inconvenience. Any place that cares for the customers is the place to go.

I wish every customer service, experience is as awesome as what we had at Mikes Bike shop. We had all our questions answered and despite a good constant stream of customers, we always had someone who helped us.

Wayne and everyone at Mike’s Bikes are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. It is clear they have a passion for what they do and for sharing that knowledge with the community to help others enjoy the activity as much as they do. It is also clear why they have been in business for 6 decades! They have a great selection of bikes and accessories which, in these times, are very hard to come by. I found everything I needed there. Ended up buying a new bike and various accessories. I am new to cycling, so the advice and assistance from the entire staff while I was there was very helpful and appreciated. I will be a customer for life.UPDATE: We have now bought bikes for my wife and two children from Mike’s Bikes and every experience has been great. Love this place! Keep it up guys!

Nice people good selection of bikes however no receipt

I needed some help with two bikes -small help but I wasn’t able to do it myself-the chains on both bikes were off and the brake was stuck on one of them. The guys were so nice and helped me with the simple fixes. The least I could do was write a great review for the kindness and assistance! Thank you!!

I talked to an employee on Monday and was quoted a price of $42 to replace 2 tires from my bike. When I went to pick up my tires I was told the cost was $75. The original cost quoted to me was $14 per tire and $7 each for installation. When I complained about being charged much more than originally quoted I was told they were sorry for the mistake but I still had to pay the extra $33. I will not be going back to this place.

The Drop of was professional maybe the owner handled me. Pickup was not professional. Older man walks up and sees like 3 ppl. In which I was first in line. He reluctantly asks with his eyes ...what?. I blurted out I’m here to pick up my bike please. He replies give me your bank card. I replied not without my amount. He says what did u have done, well it’s probably $60 plus two tubes. I said can u check first. I can’t give up My bankcard to anyone. Just craziness. The guy waiting behind me commented wow! It looked like to me he didn’t want to assist me. I felt very unwelcome and was not given the respect I deserved after spending $110 for a tune up and two tunes. I didn’t expect those prices and certainly wasn’t worth feeling invisible and unwelcome.

The gentleman who helped me became very disinterested once I told him I wanted something in the 300$ price range and walked away from me once he showed me the 4 used bikes they had.. but I still ended up leaving with a 280$ used bike anyways.. 4 days later and only 3 short bike rides the Bolt on the Peddle came off and I was stuck 4 miles from my house with no way to fix it and HAD TO WALK THE BIKE THE WHOLE WAY HOME AND NOW HAVE TO FIX MYSELF after I specifically asked the kid who rang me up if they were gonna go over the bike at all once I decided to purchase.. poor customer service and no protection plan with no return policy.. BUY ELSEWHERE

Great experience getting bikes and a bike rack. Despite being busy they were courteous, helpful, and had masks etc. for safety. They even helped us to install the bike rack on the car! Thank you for your help. We are looking forward to our family bike rides over the summer!

We started a couple of months ago researching for an e bike. A visit to Mikes Bike Shop was our first and last stop. Not only was there a good selection to choose from, but Mike was very knowledgeable and patient. His prices are reasonable. We bought 2 bikes and accessories.

We found out about Mikes bike from his friend. He does have a lot of knowledge about e bikes. Although we didnt buy from him, he gave us a lot of information what to look for. They are very helpful. I had to take a bike in for work and they helped me bring it in they explained what needed to get done and they gave me a quote very quickly. We ended up going back to them because their quote was lower than any other quote in the area.

We live not too far from Mikes Bike Shop. Its a smaller shop which has been around for years. Being a cyclist, Ive stopped here periodically over the years and now, my wife is looking for a new bike.Since they are relatively small, their selection of bikes is not huge and they focus on a few brands. But, they can get whatever you want. We were actually looking for a model they dont stock. But, no worries, the salesperson went to her computer and pulled up what we were looking for saying they could have it in and put together in a few days. She also offered options - showing us others in the same category she could get we may also like - options.They do have a large selection of parts and accessories. Pricing is about the same as other shops in the area. I also noticed that they had a few used bikes available, although the selection was small.Fun shop with great and knowledgeable salespeople.

Very rude to my dad. Went to 3 other bike shops and they were very polite and responsive. When we came here they were very unhelpful and mean. They were basically pushing us out of the door. My dad is a very sweet old man and had a few questions only to be responded with a mean/judgmental face and basically no helpful answers.

Popped in to get information about buying a bike. I was at another shop the day before and thought I was ready to buy there. My husband suggested I just stop in to see what the people at Mikes might recommended. Everyone in the shop was friendly and helpful. I was asked several questions to determine which bike would be best for what I needed and how I would be using it. HIGHLY recommend this shop!!

Great staff. We have picked up lots of accessories here. The staff is knowledgable and doesnt try to oversell us. Theyve even come outside to look at our bikes to make sure the accessories we are buying will work with the bikes we own.

Had some great luck here purchasing two specialized bikes in April. My girlfriend and I came in on a number of occasions and worked with an employee by the name of Randalle. He was immensely helpful for two people who had never owned an expensive bike before. He ensured us that the shop would stand behind the product and be there for service if needed. For how close this shop is to where I live, I am lucky they do such a great job. Without them, I would most likely not purchased a bike.

Outstanding bike shop from sales to service, this shop genuinely cares about their cutomers. I would highly suggest this shop over any of the local bike shops, I have been to every one of them, thankfully I found Mikes Bikes. There was a time where I felt like it was normal for a bike shop to either screw you over royally on service, or if you arent spending 10k on a bike they wont even talk to you. This is not the case at Mikes Bikes, every time I have been there they have treated me great, and serviced my bike perfectly, also every time Im in the shop there are other customers getting the same treatment! Waited in line in store to be ignored when line came to my turn. The 2 people at the register left the area to help other people that entered after I was in line. Will never go into this store again. Would rather buy Walmart or Amazon... then go into a local store to just be ignored.

After giving this bike shop a few chances, I can say Mikes Bike Shop is up there on one of the worst shops Ive been to. I wanted to support my local bike shop because most the staff seems nice and the products they offer are great. However I cant deal with the attitude by the owner who just seems to make the experience very miserable each time

Best mechanics I have encountered in Illinois. Super friendly and do amazing work. Just built up a new bike for me and as usual, the drivetrain is absolutely silent and smooth. I have been to many shops and I always come away disappointed with the shifting and chain rub even after a tune up, but the work they did was absolute perfection. I will never take my bike anywhere else for work.

Bike boy Todd is the only issue with this place. He did not bother assisting me with the special parts I ordered. Basically tossed the only options he had on the counter. You need to loose this guy he is bad for business. Everyone else is friendly and willing to help but thanks to Todd I will take my business elsewhere and NOT recommend this place to anyone!

Sara was very helpful, she wanted to know what kind of riding I was doing and gave me several options to look at while very specifically pointing out the differences in each. Very knowledgeable, nice, and not pushy at all. Honestly a big part of the reason I walked out buying the bike she recommended for me.The store itself is nice with plenty of accessories and while not a huge selection of bikes, they have it where it counts...quality and range of use.New bikes come with a flat repair and tune up within 1 year. Was told hassle free return/exchange (within reason) if something didnt feel right.All in all great experience, had all my questions answered and purchased a new Specialized bike while on my lunch break. Cant beat that.

The owner/older man is a very condescending person who probably should just stay in the back away from customers and let staff who arent so miserable and bitter help people.

Service is pretty hit or miss here, unfortunately. Years ago I showed up with a friend and we just wanted two new seats (that we bought elsewhere) put on for us. They were happy to do it. Yesterday we went in for the same thing and whom I believe was the owner met with us, and I rather he didnt quite frankly. You want me to put THOSE on your bike? he said in the most condescending tone. He went off on us what a poor purchase it was and how fast we would be back in here to take them off if we had him put them on. He ends it with, if you really want them, want to borrow my wrench and put them on? Sorry, I thought this was a BIKE SHOP, not a place to be ridiculed.

Brought my bike in for tire repair. They barely glanced at it and said they don’t have the tube to fix it. We asked if they could order it and they said no, it’s more of a motorcycle tire (which it is not). Asked where we could take it, they said I don’t know and walked away. I then took bike to bicycle shop in Barrington and they said no problem, went online and ordered the tube and said it should be done on Wednesday.

Ive been taking my Wylier bike here since Aug 2017. From tune ups to assisting me with successfully navigating a warranty issue with a cracked bike fork, these guys have consistently provided me with great service. At todays visit, they could have nickel and dimed me with incremental service charges to look at/adjust my bike, they did not..which means I will be coming back again.

Took my bike here because it was slow. Was told I didnt have enough air and my front brake needed realigned. Guess how much that ran me? $20. You decide if it is over priced. Customer service: the lady that works there is awesome and kind. The techs though have a very unsympathetic and cold personality. They answered all my questions and fixed my bike...but I dont think Id go there again due to the way the tech and I convered.

We bought our bikes here and used to take them here for service and accessories, but after the owner complained to me that our bikes were dirty when I brought them in for a seasonal tune-up, we havent gone back. They werent caked in mud or anything, but he was seriously annoyed and not joking. I can do without the attitude.

The most despicable bike shop ive ever had the unfortunate experience of visiting. Employees seem lackluster and unenthusiastic, but what really sets me off is how condescending they are! I went in to purchase a bike and told the guy what I was looking for and he just goes well at that point, theyre all the same...pick your favorite color I guess WOW.

Im in the market for a new carbon bike 3k-4k budget looking at shopsto buy and provide service they handle Specialized which is on my top 3 list to buy.. Walked around the store yesterday for a few minunites you could see the people in the back a guy and girl talking .................crickets no one said Hello the young guy seen me pull up in my car too.The shop has a good selection of bikes for a small shop thats why I gave 2 stars not just 1. Being a business owner my self customers are what keep you in business so communication isthe #1 connection to sucess.

Our family has been bringing our bikes to Mikes Bike Shop since we moved to the area. Wayne Mikes and his staff are very versatile, having fixed an inexpensive, old WalMart bike for us; 2 vintage aluminum Canondale road bike conversions - complete with change of shifters to the handlebars from the downtube(? angled tube- couldnt reach the shifters easily); then outfitting my husband with a new Canondale Synapse carbon fibre bike for triathlons. Pricing was really good, personal attention the best, and we all are riding correct bikes with the right fit. We highly recommend Mikes Bike Shop for purchase or repair of recreational or competitive bikes.
