I have done business with these folks for many years since they opened. Always found them to be professional and helpful. With the recent switch in owners, the services and products now being offered are absolutely amazing. Very friendly folks always willing to assist. The store is filled with awesome stuff for your favorite gun nerd(s). Kids and women will find a warm and welcoming atmosphere. I refreshed my CCW training with Don Motley and he is an awesome instructor and the vendors he brings in were a stroke of genius. Keep up the great work!!!

Decent indoor range. Here’s some things to be aware of:1) You can’t carry an unholstered or an uncased gun on in. If you didn’t bring a case you’ll have to buy a sock or a case from them to carry from your vehicle to the range. Chamber locks and chamber flags are not sufficient.2) You’re not allowed to shoot steel cased ammo. Also, if you’re shopping 5.56, don’t come with preloaded magazines. They want to check for green tip and tracers which aren’t authorized.3) Target backing in the lanes needs to be replaced more frequently. I’m sure you could ask to have it replaced if you’re having a hard time stapling your targets.4) You are not allowed to shoot from the a draw. In my opinion, ranges like this are for familiarization only for self defense style training. I would recommend a dynamic outdoor range that allows you to practice draw-to-first-shot. With the price of ammo you don’t get much bang for your buck on these static lanes.Overall the staff was friendly and helpful. They also have a good selection of ammo too. Prices aren’t bad either. Just be aware of the stuff above before you show up. Lastly, I highly encourage double ear protections at indoor ranges. You can use foam inserts and over-the-ear ear muffs to effectively prevent hearing loss.

I took the CCW course along with my spouse & son. The instructor, Don provided a very informative class that was casual but at the same time he shared very important gun processes & safety. We all felt the class was engaging and interesting. Very glad we had Don as our instructor as he was a former police officer and had anecdotal scenarios to think about and to be aware.Don brought in a representative from US Lawshield to explain the benefits of this legal service. Again there’s a whole lot of responsibility in carrying a firearm that each person should be cognizant of how to handle a self defense event. The gun range is well lit and in good condition. Overall a great class & experience. I feel prepared to provide personal protection.

I cant say much about the staff because we only talked to the one guy. I understand some people have no idea how to act in a range but just because were in our late 20s doesnt give you the right to belittle us and treat us like we were 5 year olds from the first seconds we walked in till the time we left. I had the unfortunate experience of meeting Clay today and would give this place zero stars if I could because of him. I have had several friends tell me about very poor service at sound of freedom, so I havent gone in before even though Ive lived in the area and shot at ranges around here all my life. I wish I had listened to them and checked google reviews before going. I would have seen the trend that this man treats everyone like an inconvenience and apparently sound of freedom doesnt need or want customers.I am shopping for a Henry Boy Scout edition rifle for my son who is about to achieve Eagle Scout and saw on Henrys website that sound of freedom was an authorized dealer, so I thought I would give them a chance and I went in. There was a couple at the first counter checking in with someone. It looked like they were there to use the range. I went to the gun counter in the back and the man behind the counter was on the phone. I waited until he got off the phone and when he did he just walked off despite seeing me standing there waiting. I turned around and was going to go back to the counter where the other man was working and thats when I ran into Clay, the man that was on the phone. I asked him who I needed to talk to about ordering a rifle. He said no one, theres none to be had. I said what I was needing was a special edition Henry rifle and that I have been shopping around and other stores have told me its a special order and you can put your name down for one, but it looks like theyre at least 6 months out. I told Clay I figured that would be the case at sound of freedom too, but wanted to know if they could order one and that I was willing to put money down for it. He said no and walked off in such a rude way I began walking towards the door.I did turn around and tell them all other stores I have been in have been helpful and that just brushing me off was rude, but I dont think he was even paying attention to me. There may be no way they can order that rifle right now. I get that guns are in high demand and its hard to find things, but to treat someone like I was treated is uncalled for.I did end up finding the gun I needed with the help of a local gun store, so if Clay had any sort of desire to actually help customers they would have made a sale today.

This shooting range is one of THE best places to go. The staff is phenomenal and caters to their customers to ensure that they have an enjoyable experience! My wife is becoming more proficient with a firearm and she says that this was her favorite and most comfortable indoor range to learn how to shoot. She’s been to the shooting range inside Bass Pro, but thought that it was colder and louder which was intimidating to her. I am shocked at the negative reviews below. I have been there multiple times with my family, taught my daughter to shoot there, taken classes there, bought stuff there, and have never had a bad experience. We have compared prices and there are some things you could save a little money on elsewhere, but it is not significant. Ammo is average but you could save a dollar a box for 9mm if you shop around. Guns are about average, but look for sales and you could save a few dollars buying elsewhere. I like the fact that they are local and very helpful. The range is great, but it is not completely conditioned. They have to bring in a lot of fresh air to keep smoke and powder moving downrange so it can be warm in the summer and cool in the winter. Still better than outside. Follow the rules and there is no problem. We have used our 22 rifle several times and have taken the case to the booth to remove the gun. It is their rule and no big deal to follow it. Again, I am amazed at the few negative reviews and suspect there is more to the story because our family has always been treated very well.

Have to say the other 1 Star reviews are 100% accurate. Staff is extremely rude. First range I’ve ever walked into where they treat you like dirt and talk down to you. Not to mention searching my case and sifting through all my stuff like I’m some kind of criminal. I was very confused, here I am a paying customer walking in for some range time to be treated like this for no reason whatsoever. I understand the rules and I have always been safe, but they’re very strict and over the top here. Sound of Oppression is more like it. 👎🏼

So a few months ago I learned of this gun range and found out they have guns you can rent and take onto range and try out. I really want to try a Smith and Wesson shield again and see if it was the gun I still wanted. This morning i had some time and i decided to go over and spend a little time on their range.I will admit that this was my first time on a indoor gun range so I was a bit nervous and maybe that threw the gentleman I was dealing with off a bit. Normally I go with my brother in law and his best friend to shoot targets but today I was by myself. As I have never been here I asked the guy behind the counter what all did I need to do in order to rent a gun from them and go inside on the range. The guy acted like he just didnt want to be bothered like I was just wasting his time being there. Finally after signing a weaver and the guy watching me like he didnt know if he could trust me our not, I got onto the range and had a very good experience with the Smith and Wesson shield and found out it is the one I want to purchase but I am going to need more practice with it.After I spent a little time shooting on the range for a bit when I came back out he seemed in a bit of a better mood and offered me a bit of advise and said I need more time on the range and my skills would get better and said that dry fire could help. Look I would have given a 5 star rating if he had would not have acted like I was just wasting his time. Not a bad place other wise. Just try to make people feel more welcome when they come in.

My husband and I have joined as a couple and I am thinking about which handgun I want to buy for home defense. I love the Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm. I can pull the slide on it easier than some of the others and it has a great sight. The whole place is very clean and well run and the ladys room is the cleanest Ive ever seen. It was a nice facility. I asked a simple question about a brand new s&w shield 9mm Id just picked up this morning and it jammed with the 8 round mag but not the 7 round mag. I asked the gentleman behind the counter and all he would say was its a limp wrist problem. Its limp wrist recoil syndrome causing the slide to catch the shell. Well, anyway, I called Smith and wesson customer service and they were awesome. Told me its quite rare but on some of the 8 round magazines the spring and followers had some issues. They told me theyd mail me a replacement, plus an extra replacement just because its nice to have a spare. Also said if that didnt fix it then they would have me send it in and replace it completely new. He laughed at the limp wrist remark and said that has nothing to do with the function of their firearm. SOF has a really nice low priced shooting range. I wouldnt think of buying a gun there though. I definitely wouldnt ask for any advice either. Still a nice place regardless.

I looked at the history of a couple of the continual review complainers and they have always done this. The only time I have ever seen the staff approach people in a negative way is when they are doing something they shouldnt be. I was a member of the shooting range but really lost an entire year of shooting because of the way we were treated when on the range. These fellas acted like flakey (and I mean flakey) 15-16 year old kids. Rude Aholes. I am 60 yrs old and have been on weapons ranges since I was in the military at 17 years old. I HAVE NEVER been treated like this on a gun range anywhere in the world. I rented one of their handguns and the requirement of the business that the customer must purchase their ammo to shoot a rented weapon. I purchased a box of 50 of their ammo, stapled up one of my targets and started firing down range. After around 2 magazines this goofy fat kid that was a range master came to my shooting lane demanding to know why the weapon was keyholing the target and accusing me of using my own ammunition. I am telling you- these kids are very unprofessional, inexperienced and chased of at least a half a dozen people off the 2 or 3 times I went shooting on SOF indoor range. The folks they ran off were angry when they left. The older guy that owns or manages the place is very nice as well as the older gal that does I assume the book keeping. These goofy kids are running the place in the ground and running off business. I casually mentioned my experience regarding SOF to a Ozark resident and he laughed and said- didnt you know that about that place? I will never go there anymore. Well I am joining him- I will NEVER DARKEN the door of that dump. Not as long as those punk grandkids or nephews are running the place. Its very sad because the place is very clean and neat. I have kicked myself at signing up for a whole years range rental. It was/is a total waste of time, fuel, and money. I swear I dont understand how they remain in business. But I have been a member here several years. I like the indoor sometimes even though I am a member and on the board of an outdoor range. Yes fresh air with good flow. Also one of the only indoor ranges Ive been on that I can see my iron sights. Good light. Have fans and heaters also. The people here have always been great. They have been a lot nicer to some people who came in with firearms and NO CLUE how to behave on a range. Range is run in safe manner. They set up bullseye matches which a lot of us shoot. All of the employees really help out here. From some of the reviews, I see people dont realize this is a business and to be here has to make a PROFIT. Not a GVMT project. If you dont like prices, OK. Every time I go, he acts annoyed that I am even coming in. I keep saying its the last time I go but for some reason I always make my way back. I own my own business and cant understand why someone is hateful for no reason. Save your range fee and find a field with a 20 yard range.I really want this place to succeed but with that attitude, who cares?

No AR rifles are aloud to be shot on weekends because they are loud. I guess the sound of freedom is quiet on the weekends.

Lazy management makes rediculous rules every few months. Most recently, no practicing drawing from a holster. This means experienced shooters or those practicing Ccw draw are not welcome. They stated they had some unsafe practices happening so they made the rule. They already have everyone sign a waiver. Obviously it would be better if they handled these things on an individual basis, but instead they make rules that hinder shooter practices. To be fair, the facility is nice, but the store prices are high and the rules are too restricted. Shooters should be training not just target practice. Ranges should encourage you to safely drill and train your draw from holster.

Ive been to SoF twice; once to rent a couple of pistols and shoot and the second time I went I had bought an online deal to take the CCW class. I served in the Air Force as a member of Security Forces and am comfortable with weapons. I often helped supervise AF personnel on the firing line as well. I say that to point out that Sound of Freedom takes safety extremely seriously (and rightly so), but they are friendly and knowledgeable. Their CCW class was a great class and they took extra time and effort to help people unfamiliar with weapons. You dont get any superiority complex from these guys, which is appreciated by beginners and experts alike. In their store, theyre friendly and helpful and willing to let you shop as well as just look at interesting weapons.Overall, great experience both times. Highly recommended.

My wife and I took our CCW last week with Luttrell and it was fantastic. Very informative and he was an impressive speaker/teacher. I would highly recommend him and this facility to anyone in the market for a gun or a CCW course

We bought a pistol here about 6 months ago and today took the Concealed Carry Course. Our instructor James Luttrell was awesome. Hes very knowledgeable in firearms handling and in instruction concerning concealed carrying, has a great sense of humor which is nice when you spend a day in class, answered everyones questions clearly and dealt well with experienced and less experienced shooters equally as well. I would recommend Sound of Freedom to anyone in need of training, a place to shoot safely, CCW certification, or for ammunition, guns, or accessories. Great place.

This is by far the worst gun range Ive ever been to INCLUDING Busch Wildlife near Saint Louis. The staff was extremely rude the entire time I was there. They allow AR15s to be fired in their range but said if anyone complained that I would have to stop. To avoid that, I kindly asked the only other customer on the range if he was ok with it and he overwhelmingly supported the idea. As I was bringing my AR inside another customer showed up and I asked them and again, they too supported me. I told both customers that if it was too loud to let me know and I would stop immediately.Upon actually bringing two ARs inside, I had one in case and one in a single point sling. I had removed the magazine, locked the bolt open, and positioned the rifle on my side instead of my front in a more neutral position. Ive been to many indoor ranges and am very familiar with their rules, regulations, and practices.I didnt have the rifle in a case because we originally planned on going to an outdoor range where I end up leaving it in dirt and so I just didnt bring it.The guy at the counter yelled at me from the door, made me go back outside, stuff it in the case which I couldnt even zip, and then bring it back in.Upon bringing the firearms in, the guy at the counter MADE ME UNLOAD MY MAGS to show that I hadnt accidentally slipped a steel case round in and forgot.I never shoot steel cased ammunition, not even if it is free. You can get brass for the same price and it doesnt stick to the chamber. So upon looking at the ammo I brought in, which was only 100rds, he immediately said that I would not be able to shoot all of it without providing a reason. He also inspected mine and my friends rifle which is understandable. He started by asking me three separate times whether or not I even had sights on my rifle. I understand that I look young but is this guy really assuming Im too poor to have purchased sights/optic for my rifle? He quizzed me about how my rifle was sighted in because he didnt want me to shoot his equipment. Argued with me about where my round hits if its sighted for 100yds (and was dead wrong), and finally said that my friend wouldnt be able to shoot his rifle because it had a muzzle break (totally understandable). While shooting my AR, I went through only 1 magazine. I put a few rounds on paper on the lowest part of the paper to see where it was hitting just to verify I wasnt going to hit any equipment. I let a woman that we had with us try it out, BUT before she even had the chance to pull the trigger, another employee was in the range telling her that she needed to use a block and have a seat so that her bullet wouldnt stray and hit equipment. The employees repeatedly hassled, harrassed and humiliated me unnecessarily in front of several customers and my friends. After discussing it with my friend, we were also overcharged too apparently, so theres that as well.Dont waste your money here.

I am extremely disappointed in my recent experiences with the sound of freedom shooting range, and have decided unfortunately I just cant talk myself in to going back to do any additional business there. After my family and I discovered the Sound Of Freedom shooting range last October, we had made several visits, spending a good deal of money there renting lanes, buying gear, ammo, holsters etc. We never felt overly welcome, but had never felt like we needed a warm, friendly atmosphere to enjoy renting a lane, and pick up supplies. With the exception of one younger employee, nobody had ever been outgoing or overly nice. 4 weeks ago, I purchased an Ava holster for an LC9 (54.99& Plus tax) This was just one of several items we had purchased there the same day, again renting lanes etc. My wife did not try the holster on until a couple of days after we made the purchase, and discovered within the first couple of hours that the way the holster fit the LC9, the leather backing pressed the Magazine release button and continued to pop the magazine out rendering it an absolutely dangerous and unreliable holster that I would NEVER depend on with my life. I thought perhaps it was just the way the holster fit her body shape, so I myself took the holster off of her and tried to place the LC9 just in the holster, and just holding the holster it dropped the magazine. I should also note I own this same holster for my M&P Shield, AND my wifes LCP, and have worn them both with Zero issue. So, I thought Id try and return it, but since we live an hour away from the sound of freedom and had a pending work trip out of state to MI on company business in which I would be gone for a week, I decided to wait until I returned. When I got back from MI, it was about 10 days after the time of purchase, so I thought I should call the sound of freedom (before driving an hour out) and make sure the return would be ok, and a snappish, incredibly rude, very sharp toned man (I would later learn his name Kent) answered the phone. When I asked what the return policy for something like a holster was, he cut me off with an abrupt 7 days with a receipt .. I tried to explain that the holster was absolutely brand new, that my wife hadnt even worn it but a couple hours, in the middle of my explanation he again, only sharper and louder now he interrupted me with another 7 days with a receipt.. I tried to explain to him that there was no mention of any 7 days to return the holster at the time of purchase, AND that there was nothing on the receipt to indicate that either, this time, raising his voice, he was obviously irritated when he interrupted me again with Look, you can talk to the owner but our policy is 7 days with a receipt.. I explained that this sort of treatment was very discouraging, and that we did have a receipt, and that I had been in MI on business and before I could continue he replied with the same extremely agitated temperament I TOLD YOU.. you can talk to the owner if you want.. whats wrong with the holster anyway? Im not sure why he asked what was wrong with the holster because as soon as I tried to explain the magazine dropping etc, he ...again... interrupted me with Well its like I said, you can talk to the owner but hes outa town right now so youll have to call back some other time And with that I realized I would get nowhere speaking to this man, and decided to call back to speak with the owner when he returned from out of town. Moments later I called back to ask the name of the man I just spoke with and he told me his name was Kent. That was 3 weeks ago. I have since called back once per week, left messages leaving my name and number with different people there, and have heard nothing back from the owner. I called one final time this morning in hopes to speak with the owner and was told, again hes in town but stepped out, youll have to call back later.. The ONLY reason Im giving them a 2 star and not a 1 is because of the nice young man that works there, and the facility itself is nice. I wont be back.

I like the facility. Its the people Im not a fan of. I received a gift card to the place for a present to rent a gun and get a lane. Pretty sweet idea I thought. I took my GF with me too. I let her rent the gun and I brought a few of my own pistols. They let us share a lane for a little extra money. After buying ammo, plus the gift card the trip was around $100. No biggie we were going to have fun. My GF shot for about 35 min before deciding to change guns. At this time I began to shoot for about 15 min. So after 50 min into the excursion some older man with a mustache (and a bad attitude) tells my gf that we have to leave in 10 min because theres an hour time limit. I only got to shoot 2 of the 3 guns I brought and invested a lot of money in that day. The worst part is when we got there the place was dead for the first 30 min and there were lanes that werent operational or were reserved or something. The guys pompous attitude made me so mad I didnt even hear his impromptu reasoning of why all lanes werent being used. Ill never step foot in that place again. There was a younger guy (35-40 yrs old) with a clean shaven face who a real nice guy and really helpful when we got there. But that mustache guy ought to be thrown out on his ass.
