Visited on a Saturday, they were very busy. Customer service was very helpful despite the amount of customers. Helped me purchase both a Glock 9mm and Ruger 8500. Prices were fairly priced and I will return for future purchases, its an hour away.

I called today to ask about ammo and to see if what I needed was in stock instead of driving an hour to see for myself. The woman that answered the phone was very rude and basically hung up on me when I asked my question. I’ve heard their customer service has really went down over the years but I actually experienced it first hand. I can only imagine how I’d be treated if I was there in person. Very poor customer service and I will not be doing business with them anytime soon.

Love this store inventory is low now with everything that is going on with covid19 and politics but what they have is fairly priced.They arent price gouging like some of the other big gun shops not to mention names but BUDS GUNS tripped prices on ammo.

Very wide selection of guns and you can look at the guns and not be pestered by sales people. I bought a Taurus G2C in and out less than 30 minutes, probably could have been faster but I was looking around. I could spend a lot more time and money here awesome selection. Like a kid in a candy store.

Poor Customer Service.I cant remember having any issues before they moved into the new building but after todays visit I will not be coming back.The employees were too concerned over Chocolate Zucchini loaf and Facebook to pay attention to customers. I had to drag people away from what they were engrossed in just to get a five word answer about a question I had or even to check out (which I was very reluctant to even given them money by the end of my time there). While I had their attention they treated me very poorly and acted angry they had to do their job. Ive worked retail for a number of years, I know how it can be, but there was no viable excuse for this short of laziness.I like to spend my money where I feel welcome and from here on out Im just going to stay in town instead of making the drive out there.Used to be worth it, not anymore. Sorry guys.

Never had good service, went into buy a raven crossbow prepared to spend several thousand dollars, and as its been everytime I went in there, I could not get anyone to help, walked out and will never go back.

I’m not a gun enthusiast. I am looking to purchase my first pistol for self defense and one for my girlfriend. I go in to Whittaker’s to look around. There are four employees sitting in the middle talking to each other. I make about 4 rounds back and forth looking through the pistols. Not a single person said a word to me. They didn’t ask if I needed help (I had no clue what I was looking for). No one asked if I wanted to see or hold anything. I’ve heard so many great things about Whittaker’s from friends of mine, but me and my girlfriend and family will not be returning. I’m not mad. But Whittaker’s needs to understand that there are people in this world that know nothing about guns and that aren’t going to flag down someone for help. Especially when you’re just sitting there socializing amongst other employees.

Being black and going to gun stores isnt always fun. I reload my own ammo and Id say I know what Im doing 90% of the time. So when I go to a gun store and ask for bullets, not ammo, I get strange looks like I dont know squat about reloading. Ive never got that feeling at Whittakers. Ive also never got bad vibes from staff in all my 10 years of going there. Help is usually plentiful but with the way times are now the store is usually packed and staff is helping with new purchasers. Its a store where I feel welcomed being black. Whittakers will always get my money and my vote.

Theres a guy there, Chris. He treats us with the upmost respect, given our lack of knowledge. He is kind and generous with his time to explain things in a way that we can understand. Extremely impressed with his knowledge. Having a bad experience elsewhere, we wouldnt go anywhere else. Were customers for life.

Great service almost out of ammo

A very nice shop. Been meaning to stop by for some time.l now so when I found I was driving by it on my way to Evansville I just had to swing in. Great place great selection of guns gear and ammo. Would highly recommend if you’re in the area or are passing through. Everything is fairly priced and easy to find.

Best place to buy a firearm and awesome staff

Flat out lied about false advertising and is trying to steal my money. Advertises “Walther night sights, 3 dot tritium sights” and ships standard 3 dot sights. When I called about receiving wrong sights they just lied to me and said they don’t have any in stock. I only ordered them because I was in their shop a few days before looking at them IN THEIR STORE! They had several sets in stock. Now I’ve sent the standard sights back to them weeks ago as they insisted and zip, nothing, no refund. This large store unfortunately tanking due to pathetic and borderline illegal business practices. I’d bet this business will go under in less than 5 years. Was once a good business. Now they look at it like they are doing everyone a favor by being there. I’ve probably spent over 50 grand at this business. Never again!

Im thinking of just stay in town and have a little more respect for your money....js

Whittaker guns has been around for a very long time here in daviess county. They have in general a knowledgeable staff . Keep in mind people this is not a department store this is one of the largest gun shops in the country. They cant help everyone at the same time . My advice to someone they is wanting help in the store is to ask .not stand there like a dummy. I have been a long time customer and will always be.

I have ordered quite a bit from Whittaker over the past three years. They have always been a pleasure to deal with. Their prices are great. The only time I needed customer service, they responded to an email quickly and got it taken care of. Anytime I need anything, I shop Whittaker first.

Decent selection of guns but the customer service is terrible. Top that with them having that condescending attitude that some gun shops guys have and you lose a customer. Went to uncle lees and bought a new AR with cash.

The selection is incredible. By far the best I have ever seen. I have been going in there ever since I was little with my dad.Service can be hit or miss depending on who you talk too. Often you end up talking to other customers to find out thing you need to know or where a product is located in the store.There are however some very knowledgeable associates working there. The prices can be competitive and some things are a bit over priced. But that is how the weapons industry turns its wheels.Over all I gave a 4 because of the service. Selection gets a 10!If you love guns, you will love to just walk around in Whittakers.

Great store very wide selection of guns and accessories. If you want to see a large selection of guns this is it and you can look all want and not be pestered into buying a thing. In the past when I used to come they would pester you to buy a gun wich was annoying but now you can look and not be pestered. If you need help just get there attention wich is easy. Great service and great prices! My Tikka T3x was nearly $200 cheaper (including shipping) than buying locally here in Alaska. Darrick was very helpful and I wont hesitate to buy from them again or refer them to friends.

Ordered a rifle on a Thursday, waited two business days and still hadn’t heard anything by Tuesday so I called only to be told that rifle that I had paid for was not in stock but would be in from the distributor and shipped that day. Received an email that it had been sent to the shipping department soon after. The next day after receiving no tracking information I called again and find out that the rifle was not in fact coming and that they would not be getting one any time soon. He did offer to order it but it would probably be awhile and he did offer to give my money back and was very apologetic. I ended up just taking the same model in a different caliber that I already use often. He ships it promptly but due to my mistake it’s sent to a shop I didn’t know was closed. I call to change the delivery address and I’m met with some annoyance understandably. They fixed the issue but after this whole ordeal I’d just recommend that if you do buy a firearm online here, know what you’re doing. I would say that what’s on their website may not be accurate and that you should call before committing any money. I’m not sure why after almost three days I wasn’t contacted about the inventory issue but it just sheds light on their lack of attention to detail and reactive customer service style. The biggest redeeming quality about this shop is their selection and prices which I must say are the best I’ve seen online. I would do business here again, just much more carefully next time.

Some good prices, but Customer service is HORRIBLE! I felt as though I was more of a Inconvenience than a Customer. Also, snide remarks and cracking jokes about how stupid some of your customers are right in front of them isnt a good idea. Might just lose business. Just saying.

My suggestion would be to research online before you go into the store. I was directed to subpar products a couple times while shopping there. To their credit the higher quality items were in store but I had to look for them on my own. Overall I would still recommend this place.

Generally their prices are hard to beat. Sometimes their PR isnt the best, but Ive never felt they didnt appreciate the business. In the 15+ years of going there they did make one mistake on a purchase I made, but I called them and they made it right. Years ago I bought a cheap pistol that broke after the first time I fired it. It was a manufacturer defect but Daryl credited the price of the gun back r9 go towards another pistol and I noticed they quickly stopped carrying the faulty product.

This was the smoothest online pistol purchase I have ever experienced. Whittakers has a very nice website and the checkout process was very easy. I was able to email them the FFL license where I wanted the pistol shipped about 15 minutes after I completed the online purchase. I received a prompt email confirmation that my FFL license emailed had been received, and the pistol shipped that same day. I couldnt be happier with the entire process and the price I paid for the pistol was well below what I would have paid elsewhere.

Tried to purchase a Colt M45A1 online and use the Grand Opening discount code SALE. Would not work, customer service rep said the code only applies to guns instock and on guns with the banner eligible for discount etc. Well.. it did say instock on top and also had the banner. But since it was a online only gun, the code was not qualified for the discount code.Rep wouldnt even try to make it happen for me. Why not just order the gun for the customer? Would you not make the same amount? After being a repeat online customer, I will be taking my business else where. Thanks

Visited Whittaker Guns on the afternoon of 18May13. Nice selection of firearms and accessories, very competitive prices...but customer service....As I walked in, there was a heavyset guy at the register by the door who was texting on his cell. I approached him after I had spent about 10m browsing and asked him about in-stock AR uppers. His response of What you see is all we got was delivered rudely after he rolled his eyes. While looking at the 3 uppers, another customer approached him with a question. The man was with a younger child and he had to say Excuse me three or four times before the employee acknowledged him. When the man did so, it was with another eyeroll as he pointed towards another register and the girl who was working it. In the hour I was there, I watched similar interactions between the employee and 5 more customers.Customer service can sustain or end business. I decided I was willing to pay $200 more to order an upper than I was to support a business that allowed someone like that to interact with customers. I will not shop at Whittakers in the future and, after comparing notes with coworkers who had or witnessed similar behaviour, I will warn all of my friends to stay away as well.

I drove for over two hours on the recommendation of my cousin to check out this store, what a waste of time and a huge mistake. First thing when my girlfriend and I walked in the door she ask where the restroom was. Never been there before so of course we had no idea. The girl who finally told us didnt seem to happy about having to share this information but okay thats fine. Then after looking at pistols over and over I say to her I guess the reviews I read were right, theres no service here. Finally she got this guys attention and ask for his help, seems we disturbed his sitting. He seemed to think he was an expert on the gun I was looking at, a Ruger SP101 .357. He wasnt and I proved it to him. Every word out of his mouth was smart and cutting but Im not one to take that sort of treatment so I cut back. Just his attitude alone made me want to leave immediately so we went outside and talked it over. We decided after driving so far wed go ahead and give them a second chance, didnt work. But to make this short and believe me it could be very long I purchased the gun, a Hogue grip (for my girlfriends S&W) and two Nylon holsters, they had no good holsters in left hand so I was forced to do this and they have a sign on the wall that clearly says LEFT HAND which turned out to be only about 6 out of dozens. I was charged 2% just to use my debit card so that was an extra $11.00+ they got out of me for absolutely nothing. Anyway, I will NEVER go back and will never recommend this place to anyone, its not worth the drive or the search. Hey you guys need to be a little nicer to someone who is spending $630 in your store, its the last dime youll ever get from me. My advise, dont waste your time, they dont appreciate it. Jon was our salesman hes working in the wrong place with his attitude. The most unfriendly people Ive ever seen to be dealing with the public. I need to add, the price I paid for the gun was a dollar higher then my local gun guy but I made a mistake and should have dealt with him. Jon the salesman doesnt have the attitude or patience to help people, should have known after seeing his Batman emblem drawn on his name tag. I saw several people waiting to be helped but they were all ignored by the sales staff. This place is terrible and should close its doors. One further thing, everyone seems to think they have great prices at this store, if thats true then every store in that area must be high because in the Bowling Green Area the prices are much lower than Whittakers. And beware, they have a verbal sniper to argue with any bad reviews they receive, hes going to be busy poor guy.

Reading the other bad reviews Im adding my comments to quantify others bad experience and provide perspective for those who havent visited the shop, yes at times it can be tough to get ahold of them on the phone, and at times it can be slow to get service in the shop, because they are VERY busy...why? they have consistently fair prices, they know what they are talking about and they have great selection! integrity, respect and professionalism, that is what I have experienced every time through the doors, I try and go when they are less busy, to speed up the process, but Ive never left with a question unanswered or felt like Ive gotten ripped off, if you havent visited, do so, its worth your time.
