Came in on a sunday evening for a quick bite to eat. I got a small mac n cheese and a small cup of tomato soup. Small mac n cheese was $1.69 which is fine but the small cup of soup was $4. Total with tax $6.15! No spoons at the cafe for soup and no crackers either. No one to check out at the cafe front! Went to the store front to check out. The cashier checking out the person in front of me told me he is closed. So I waited in another line to get my now cold soup checked out. Some great examples of great service!and the photos were removed after my review!

Yikes. Interacted with 3 different employees during my visit. Two out of three were quite unprofessional. Kind of appalling the attitude they displayed towards a simple question in regard to where to locate an item. Would not shop here again, did not feel like my business was welcomed.

Fresh, flavorful produce. Fresh high quality meat and fish items on ice daily. Large selection of baked breads, muffins, rolls. Throughout the store there are impressive/surprise markdowns on items. The customer service is typically fantastic.

Im giving 1-star for the delivery option. My rant is that I went to the hen house website, and ordered for home delivery due to these viral times. Now Im mostly happy with the order but the strawberries delivered to us are so moldy they look like a science experiment. Now that in and of itself isnt so bad. Stuff happens, I get it. My problem is that when I called the store expecting them to credit my account, or allow me to pickup a replacement the next day thats not what was offered. Instead the person I spoke with gave me the run around and blamed instant cart for the problem now Im on a 3 hour hold hoping they will eventually pick up the phone.I would agree that instant cart would be the people to call/blame if I hired them to run a Hen House errand for me. Thats not what I did. I used instant cart because the partner service recommended by Hen House. Hen House should a) not have merchandise this spoiled out for sale, and b) take more responsibility for the problem, not passing the buck.

Newer store in a BOOMING area that used to be sleepy and uncrowded, lol. Great deli/premade section. Bakery breads, Tippins pies, Zarda beans, etc. They also have pre-packed bags you can buy to donate to the local food pantries. Its a little pricier in here, but worth it. Also worth noting - they did drive-up before it was a COVID thing.

Hen House is admittedly one of my favorite grocery stores. Always great service, amazing selection, delicious Tippins baked goods and great promotions. Shop local, KC!

Got a medium birthday cake and had to wait 2 hours before if softened up for candles. Then came a taste of complete horror. This was nothing but 3+ pounds of sugar with no cake taste. Horrible bakery.

I Ask the white older man in meat department for 10 lb of hamburger packaged in one lb package. ( it wasn’t all for me ). And he acted quite perturbed and telling me he would have to wait on others A sale is a sale. I think he needs to be reminded of that.

Best produce, best pies, best meats. Not a big fan of any self-checkout including the recently added ones here.

This store is always very clean and organized. They have a very large selection, lots of fresh baked goods, fresh cut flowers, and lots more. The staff is always attentive, kind, and helpful. My favorite place to shop!

Well staffed and well stocked at all counters. Get the Chicken Tuscan Salad (only available after 4:00) and have them customize it for you. It is a wonderful addition to their soups or anything that you may have prepared for lunch/dinner at home.

They are a little more expensive than some, but they are extremely good. Especially in the customer service area. And, when they have sales, they are even better than Walmart. Also, their bakery is awesome - especially their Farm to Market bread. And, for whats its worth, I have asked numerous employees how they are treated thdre, and they all say they love it and that Hen House takes very good care of them. And, it definitely shows, as their customer service is truly excellent.

I love the fruit/veggie/bakery section of this store. Its always clean and nice looking. You can also sample all of the items them make, like chicken salad made with local honey and pistachio salad. My only dislike is the cashiers havent been very friendly the few times I have gone.

I was up to pay at the self check out and the machine was giving me an error after I paid. So naturally I get the attention of a employee and he tells me he’s got some things to do and will be back. 10 freaking minutes later, this guy comes back and completely ignores me like he’s never seen me before and starts helping everyone but me. It’s a great place but dang.

Good all around grocery store. Actually cut deli meats in the deli unlike other stores in the area. Produce is fresh and well stocked most times. And as with many Hen Houses, a very large meat department of everything from chicken to fish and even lamb.

Nice clean grocery store, Pleasant to shop at. But check your grocery receipt every time you shop there, more times than not there is a mistake or two on my receipts. Examples would be: not getting the sale price for items that are on sale, or misidentifying produce & ringing it up incorrectly. Be sure to give the cashier your Hen House card before he / she starts ringing up your groceries.

Hello WOW! This hen house at 6900 W 135th leawood henhouse has a fabulous deli department!! I was there thanks giving eve and i was needing lots of thngs got my things mix up. But the deli dep, naming mainly MASSOND!! and HARMIT and WILLIAM they were problem solvers!!! And so helpful, polite to me. Made and accommodate me in ALL my needs at a last moment. Sooo nice to me and big SMILES! LOVE THEM ALL THANL YOU!!

Just tried to place a bakery order and was put on hold forever. Once someone answered, she spoke very rudely to me when I asked her to quote 2 and 4 dozen cookies. Once, I explained I wanted them decorated she told me they dont do that. I immediately called back and asked to speak to the main store manager. She listened and put me on hold as she walked down to bakery. The Bakery Manager then picked up the phone and it was the womans voice who had been so rude to me. I indicated she was the one I just spoke to and she lied and said she wasnt. I hung up and called back to inform the Store Manager she indeed was the one who had answered the phone and been so rude to me. This is my neighborhood store and I shop here weekly and felt it was important for the store to know how her Bakery Manager is taking care of customers. I decided not to place the order with them based on this experience.

The folks at the meat counter are fun! I share recipes that I use on their meats and they share ideas with me… I learn new things all the time!

We love Hen House. Great selection, great meat..and this store has a really good Sushi chef. Wish we had one further south (yes even further South than 135th).

The fruits and veggies here are of superior quality. Give it a chance, and you will never shop anywhere else!

If you dont have a Hen House card, you wont receive the deals and discounts. Prices are high. Very poor customer service. My cashier (Beverly) was very unfriendly and rude. Its worth your while to drive further down the road to Price Chopper where theres always great service.

Clean store helpful staffOne time I even asked if they had coconut aminos (like low soy sauce) after asking for help finding something else they told me where it was but my mom was tired so I said Id get it next time and continued shopping I turned around and the young man had found it and brought it to me. Everyone here has always been very nice

Use caution when using the floral Dept for a special event. I ordered flowers a week early and when I arrived to pick them up they were wilted and brown, simply thrown in a bucket. I had to scramble last minute to find flowers somewhere else.

At this store, Joel in the meat dept is an amazing employee. He is always very professional and has positive customer service skills. An all around cool guy.

Very upset with my experience today. I dont shop at Hen House very often, I typically drive the extra ten minutes to go to Price Chopper, or Whole Foods (usually because Price Chopper has more variety and cheaper pricing). However, I stopped in today because I was in a hurry. I saw some cookies that were marked 50% off and I bought them. After buying them I realized I didnt get the marked discount. I told the manager, (she was extremely rude) she said that everyone knows the discount is for hen house card holders only. Apparently not everyone knows and its not marked on the package!! All it says is that its 50% off. I will continue my shopping else where, where the prices on the packages are the exact prices you see at the checkout.

Grass fed beef was amazing. Several of the farmers onsite discussing their passion for delivering top quality food.

I love this store! We have shopped there for 17 years now. However, DO NOT get your wedding cake there. We ordered our daughters wedding cake from Hen House bakery on 135th and Metcalf. We were confident that it would be great, as all of their others services have been for many years now. The cake was disaster. It was a 4 tier wedding cake and the design was done well, but before the reception began, the cake fell. The second layer sagged and continued to get worse as the minutes went by. The bride and groom had to cut the cake as soon as they ate their dinner because the event manager was afraid the whole thing would just collapse. It was very disappointing and embarrassing! My daughter spent a lot of time choosing a bakery and designing the cake she envisioned for her wedding. She wanted it to be a focal point in the foyer of their wedding venue. It was a disaster. I love this store and will continue to patronize it, but be warned. Dont use their bakery for your wedding cake or any other tiered cake you may need.

My wife had to ask a checker to wipe down a conveyor belt this morning. Disappointing.

In order to get the in-store (advertised) discounts, you have to have a Hen House card. I didnt know this, so when my $$$ total came up at the cash register, I was puzzled. The cashier said, You dont have a Hen House card, you dont get discounts. Rude! Why didnt she just tell me I could get a card at their customer service counter?! Plus she was so god-awful slow bagging my stuff, I thought I was going to fall asleep. Other than that, the store has great selection of quality items. Its like Trader Joes meets Whole Foods (but cheaper).

I really like this location. The US Bank inside is really convenient too. Hen House is a bit more expensive but nice.

Crappy service at deli counter over lunch hour. Its that or Im invisible. I waited and waited as guys behind counter went about their business. Finally, a guy comes my way, doesnt recognize me and washes his hands. I appreciate that but shouldnt he say, Ill be right with you. before?

Lady at Customer service who answers the phone was very Rude!!! 1st could not understand her, so wasnt sure she said Hen House, thought i misdialed the number. 2nd I had heard the store was closed for remodeling and did not know it was back open for business yet. She was absolutely RUDE and NASTY about it! You work in customer service.... If i dont use a nasty tone, why should you... Dont take it out on me that you dont like your job....There is a quote...If you dont like it, Change. If you cant change it, Change your attitude.

We do a lot of shopping at this location, and really enjoy the local produce and great prices on things we buy all the time :) There is always a helpful employee willing and ready to assist ! Oh, and for a quick lunch they have a ton of things to choose from.... We have been shopping here for at least 8 Years, now :) Thank You Again

We live hen house for their fresh bread, not a week goes by that we dont grab a loaf.

The store is clean and has a decent selection for its size. It can be a little pricy compared to the other grocery stores in the area, so make sure you watch for sales and get a Hen House card.

I LOVE this deli! the cases are stocked so beautifully, its very clean, and im especially impressed with the service. The food tastes great!! Ive had lovely experiences each time ive gone to the here. Whomever runs this deli is surely running a tight ship and is on top of their job. You can tell bc the place is ran smoothly. Its refreshing to be given such great customer service too bc now-a-days is sort of rare to be shown such delightful service :). Its just a Terrific Deli & ill gladly continue to shop here, thats for sure!!
