We recently purchased a futon from the futon planet and it is a great piece of furniture! Im a soon to be graduate and wanted something functional but nice for my living room to put with my current couch and this is so comfy and nice. I also really like that you can buy multiple covers for the couch so if I want to switch it up and make it a different color I dont have to buy a whole new couch, but instead buy a new cover. It also is easy to clean and easy to put on the mattress. I also loved the 90 day layaway service that futon planet provides. I didnt have contact for the full 90 days and when I went to pick it up I called a few days prior and the futon was ready for pick up. I highly recommend purchasing from futon planet.
I ordered a futon cover advertised as 100% cotton in the washable category but the fabric was polyester. While I knew there was a no return policy on futon covers (according to their website), I called and spoke to a customer service representative regarding their mistake. They ignored the fact that the cover was the wrong material and told me that each cover is made to order, so cannot be returned. I dont understand how a cover in a popular color in a standard size can be made to order... Needless to say, they refused to let me return the cover and made no apologies.
My futon frame was defective due to some improper welding. Futon Planet would only offer a replacement with a picture and if I shipped the entire metal frame back to Florida. You try taking a photo of something inside a black metal tube.Then, it took a week for my mattress to arrive-you know, the mattress the sales rep made a personal call to my mother to upgrade.Im still waiting for my mattress cover. I ordered a dark green cover. Once it was missing for a week or so later--I got used to FPs poor service--I called in. It was only then that a sales rep said they didnt have the proper dye to provide that item. They did NOT convey this information on their website. Im not budging on the color either---the customer should be right---right?Long story short, I ordered a futon over a month ago and I have yet to receive all the products I have paid for. No refunds have been offered or granted.Futon Planet gives the impression that their business is run by some animal far less intelligent than a chimp. Dont put yourself through this hassle.The only thing keeping me from giving a one star is that their products---once you get them defect-free---arent so bad.
I ordered a futon for my son to use at college and I received a call from the company trying to get me to agree to a $50 upgrade based on the rep telling me the basic mattress was basically worthless.
